chapter nineteen, cheers to a new beginning

she wasn't used to the silence her dorm hall provided her once she stepped into the building.

she saw annie's secretary guard sitting at her usual desk as she walked past the opening.

she was almost away from the women before she heard her speak.

" someone waiting for you in your room" she spoke out. bella turned to look at her. " who" bella asked.

" i didn't ask for a name" she spoke before looking back at her newspaper.

someone ever came to bells dorm. but she knew it wasn't lucien since the annie's bodyguard knew his name. so it was someone else.

she got her answer soon enough as she opened up the front door and saw a tall women looking at a picture she had in a frame.

she knew who it was right away.

she just kept getting surprises today.

" what are you doing here mom" bella let our watching as the women now turned around to look at her. she smiled at her.

her mom actually smiled at her.

it didn't feel right. she never smiled at her. like a senseless loathing. it made her feel a mix of emotions in her stomach. who knew such a small gesture could do that to someone.

" visiting my daughter" her mother spoke. bella nodded before closing the door behind her. " i can see that, but what are you actually here for" bella let out as she dropped her backpack down on her bed.

" after the diner" she spoke. bella knew immediately what she was talking about.

" i was harsh" she spoke out again. bella didn't want to nod to show she agreed. she knew her mother knew.

" and i apologize" her mom contuined and ended.

bella let out a breathe she didn't know she wasn't fully aware that she was holding in before speaking up.

" it's fine" she let out. she was to exhausted to argue. she didn't feel like it.

" i want to be more in your life, your real life" her mom told her. bella nodded.

" what changed" the brunette girl asked her mom. " what" the older women let out. bella repeated herself again. " what changed" she spoke before then continuing. " you didn't come out here voluntarily, we both know you rather text me then waste a breath trying to come here if it isn't for joseph" bella slandered.

in the end she choose the truth, even if that means arguing.

" can't i see my daughter" her mother spoke out. bella just now noticing she still hasent put down the picture frame she had in her hands.

she looked closely at it as she realized it was a family photo she kept in her room. one when her and her brother were younger. her parents haven't picked favorites yet.

it was normal.

" you can't, not you at least" bella said.

her mother finally put down the picture frame.

" me and your father are going into couples therapy" her mom told her. bella made a weird face at her. " and that's my concern how" bella asked her.

her mother gave her a stern look.

" we might be getting a divorce bella" her mom told her. this caused bella to stop right in her tracks from what she was doing while she listened to her mother talk.

" oh " was the only thing bella could let out.

" and we both know you'll pick your father if the divorce happens so i'm just trying to make amends with my daughter" the women told her daughter. bella nodded.

she would pick her father. and joseph would pick whoever bella picked.

her mother would have nobody.

it was kinda spiritual when you think about it. the sheep that guided the pack eventually turned gray and its fur started to come out in plops. the pack of sheep needed a new leader. so when the sheep with holes in its fur turned left the others turned right. completely abandoning the sheep with holes.

it was nothing now.

it was pathetic realizing her mother was the holed sheep. it almost brought a smile on her face.

" okay" bella spoke out. " okay" her mother questioned.

" it's refreshing to see you finally trying to be a mother, to me anyways" bella told the women before her.

" you're making this difficult" her mother let out. " if i'm so difficult why don't you just leave" bella asked her. her mother looked at bella trying to find any hince of regret within her daughters eyes but she didn't find any.

she never would.
