SHITS HIT THE FAN

▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄

AURORA AND MIKE WERE both helping Eleven to the car, which meant she had to be in extremely close proximity to the boy she was adamantly trying to avoid. Well Aurora had come to the conclusion that she was ready to forgive Mike, she wasn't going to do it if the boy didn't approach her first.

"Oh shit El, you're bleeding," Aurora pointed out when the sticky summer air hit her skin.

      "Are you okay?" Mike asked.

Eleven could only grunt out a yes, as Max ran in front of the three and opened the door for them. Aurora thankfully had Max and Eleven as a buffer between her and Mike. Mary had decided to go with Dustin, Steve, Erica and Robin—as the two teens had admitted they still felt the influence of the drugs Mary decided it would've been better for her to drive. Fauna was sitting in the very back with Lucas and Will as Nancy tried to start the car.

Try—as the engine would sputter before quitting on her. Nancy turned the key three more times, each yielding the same result.

Jonathan, sitting in the front seat was the first to question the lack of engine starting, "what's wrong?"

Nancy tried the engine again, "I-I don't know! Are you serious! Come on."

"Didn't your mom like," Lucas added from next to Fauna, "just buy this car?"

Nancy smacked the steering wheel, "yes! I'm sure it's fine."

"Did you leave the lights on?" Will suggested.

"Do you have gas?" Lucas questioned.

"Yes!" Nancy screamed, frustrated lacing her voice as she pushed the key harder, the engine sputtering endlessly before Jonathan grabbed her arm.

"Stop! Nace, that's not going to help anything. Pop the hood," Jonathan unbuckled his seatbelt, climbing out of the car to inspect the engine.

Nancy followed him, eying the dumbfounded look on his face. Fauna told the rest of them to stay put as the older woman followed the teenagers out of the car.

"The ignition cables gone!" Jonathan helplessly gestured to the lack of item in the engine.

"Where would it have gone!" Fauna scoffed.

To their right, an engine revved. The three outside the car slowly turned their heads, listening as the engine revved harsher as headlight illuminated them.

Inside, Max froze, knowing that familiar rev from her brothers car. The five of them all jumped when Nancy banged on the window, screaming at them to get out, "get back inside! Inside the mall!"

Aurora helped Eleven out of the car, the girl resting her weight on Auroras shoulder as Mike scrambled to help her. "I've got her," the blonde snapped pulling away from Mike harshly as they made it into the mall.

The eight of them congregated at the fountain they had left just minutes earlier. Fauna helped rewrap Elevens wounds as Aurora let her sleep for a while, hopefully gaining more strength from the inevitable fight. Mike paced in front of them, calling into his radio over and over.

Aurora, fed up with the shouting from the boy stood up and snatched the walkie from him, "if you keep calling with no time for a response you're never going to get one!"

Mike just blinked at the girl, and suddenly she felt self conscious. His eyes scraping over every inches of her skin, absorbing every part of her in a way that made her want to kiss him or peel her skin off.

"Take a rest," Aurora muttered, pivoting on her heel, only for the boy to grab her arm again. Pulling her away from the fountain and closer to 'The Gap'.

"We need to talk."

"Isn't that what we're doing right now?" Aurora scoffed, crossing her arms.

"Aurora! You know what I mean," Mike sighed, rolling his eyes.

Aurora uncrossed her arms, letting them smack at her legs as the watched the boy. Shaking her hand, she laughed. "No, I don't know what you mean because over a year ago you told me you couldn't live in a world without me, and that you didn't want to lose me. But with the way you're acting it seems like you didn't care about whether I stayed or left."

Mike reached out to hold her hand, only for Aurora to softly slip out of his hold, her heart aching as the pitiful look that crossed over his face. "Aurora, I mean that. I mean—I don't mean what I said. I don't know! I love you, but I've never done this before. I don't know how to act, and it's scary, being so in love with you that I feel like I can't breathe without. And god, not knowing what happened to you for almost two days killed me. And when I saw you, knowing that I couldn't do anything about the cut on your face or the bruise that's growing on your shin, it killed me, Rory."

Aurora gnawed at her bottom lip, watching the boy with tearful eyes. "I've never had someone like that either, Mike. And god I was so scared because you had my heart in your hand and you crushed it. I love you so much, and nothing will change that, but we need to rebuild our trust."

Mike nodded, "I think in every universe, I will fall for you Aurora Briar. But, in this universe I will do everything to keep you. So we can start slow. Just...let me hold you."

The smallest nod from Aurora had Mike taking three long strides toward the girl before she was engulfed in his familiar form. The faintest hint of chestnut and pine encasing her and the two held on for dear life. She hadn't realized how much she had missed him until he was right in front of her.

The trust was gone, but it could and will be rebuilt. All it would take was time.

Mike kissed her forward before tightening his arms around her, embracing the strawberry scented shampoo she used. Where Aurora was, Mike would be, because she was him home and it took two days for him to realize that he couldn't live without her.

"Ahem," someone broke the two apart, Mike setting his glare on Jonathan as he stood in front of them, "we have a plan."

Jonathan's plan was pretty smart—given it wasn't really his plan, but Nancy's. They just had to get the ignition cable from the car Eleven flipped and put in into the Wheelers car, easy peasy. Except, the car with the cable was flipped upside down and the right of them had to flip it right-side-up in order to get the cable.

The six of them—Fauna had opted out of helping, knowing that she lacked any upper body strength and Eleven couldn't really do anything either—stood over the counter of the cafe, pushing as best they could to try and tilt the car over.

Aurora was the first to give up, "it's cute that you guys think I have enough upper body strength to do this? I literally almost failed gym because I couldn't pass the push up test."

"Come on! We almost got it," Lucas groaned as the car dropped back to the counter.

"Let me try," Eleven spoke up.

"You're injured," Aurora shook her head.

Eleven cocked a brow, "you are too."

She sighed, and moved around the car to go and sit down with her aunt. She wasn't really even trying anyways, knowing she probably would've done more bad than good with a headache forming.

"I can do it," Eleven stated, before stepping forward slightly. The rest of the group nodded, falling back to where Aurora and her aunt were sitting on the bench all of them watching Eleven cautiously. Will had quickly stolen the only seat next to Aurora, which had Mike huffing angrily as he stood next to Lucas and Max.

Elevens nose was bleeding as the car creaked and rocked before she dropped her hand and screamed in annoyance. Aurora stood and stepped by her side, "El, it's fine! You still have to rest, you're not up to full power."

"I can do it," she muttered, wobbling on her feet as a single tear escaped from her eye.

"No you can't," Max added, joining the two girls. "If we have to go up against the Mind Flayer again, we need you to full power. So sit with Fauna and we'll figure something out."

Turns out, Lucas and Will had already figured something out, grabbing the metal poles from stools from the floor as they handed them out like candy. Aurora unfortunately got one which meant she also had to help. The six stepped back behind the counter, the poles helpful in gaining leverage to push the car back on its side.

"Now all the way, alright," all of them placed the rounded bottom against the car, "now push!"

On three, the six of them gave it all their might, finally heaving the car right-side-up, only Aurora gave a little more. A scream escaped her lips as she began to fall forward, only for a hand to grab at her waist and help her upright.

Mike stared at her longingly, a smirk dancing across his lips as she smiled at her. She thanked him by pressing a lingering kiss to his cheek before sliding off the counter to join Eleven and her aunt once again. Only, Eleven had run across the mall, and was now digging through a trash can to find something.

"Whats she doing?" Max whispered to Mike and by extension, Aurora who was sitting next to the two.

"I don't know, but I think it's got something to do with her being drained." Aurora nodded, before walking towards the girl, Max and Mike following behind.

"El?" Max spoke up, pulling the brunettes focus off of the can she had dug out of the trash.

      "You okay?" Mike finished.

Eleven glanced back at them, before looking back at the can with fear in her eyes. It took a few more seconds before Eleven moved, reaching for Auroras hand and pulling her farther away from everyone else. Eleven knew that the two of them were alike in most ways, they both had dealt with Papa, and she felt like Aurora would understand the best.

       "I don't know what's wrong," Eleven started.

Aurora glanced over her shoulder, softly shaking her head at the two friends watching from around the corner, "I don't understand. What's going on, El?"

"My powers, they—" Eleven started, only to be cut off by screaming as the glass ceiling creaked under the weight of something large.

"Nancy!" Mike screamed as he took off towards Aurora and Eleven, grabbing his girlfriends—or not girlfriend? He didn't really know what they were at that point—hand as Max grabbed Elevens, the two pulling them away from the range of glass. Just as the ceiling shattered and a monster fell through.

"HOLY FUCK!" Aurora screamed, following the pace of Mike. A faint smile gracing her face as she registered that they were holding hands. They hadn't for a while.

"LANGUAGE, Aurora!" She heard Fauna shout from the other side of the mall. Aurora would've grinned if they were under different circumstances.

Mike pulled Aurora under a small pop-up stand right near 'The Gap', Max and Eleven diving under right after them. Aurora couldn't have been more thankful the Mike holding her hand, otherwise it would've been shaking with fear as the creature growled loudly right next to them. Its head moved as it sounded like it was right above them, growling loudly as tears begun to run down Auroras face.

It's deafening steps led away from them a moment after, as Mike pushed himself up, glancing over the counter and Aurora pleaded with him to stop.

He came back down a moment later, grabbing her hand again. "It's turned away, if we go up the stairs now we'll make it."

"Not with Els' leg we will," Max shook her head.

      "We have to try!"

Eleven grabbed Mikes arm, "there's another way. To get out, through The Gap."

Mike glanced up once more, as the pit in Auroras stomach grew, but she had no time to protest as Mike nodded and the four of them were moving. Running around the pop-up and through a small break in stands.

It took one wrong step for the monster to notice them. Aurora screeching as glass sliced across her thigh as she knocked over a statue, The Mind Flayer screamed, turning it attention to them as Mike grabbed Aurora and pulled her forward, the four ducking behind the registers in the back. Aurora situated between his legs with smirks hand over her mouth as her thigh bleed profusely.

The slam of the wall had all of them flinching as the creature chirped again. Another chirp before the loud clatter of a mannequin being grabbed and a loud growl before the plastic was thrown against the wall. Landing right in front of their feet.

Mike pressed a fleeting kiss to Aurora temple, hoping to calm her nerves even slightly. "We need to move," his voice was barely audible, but the three girls nodded and on the count of three they all bolted towards another small counter that hid them slightly better and was closer to the door.

The chirping of a tentacle from the creature grew closer as tears fell faster down Auroras face, the girl trying to shallow terrified sobs. When the arm reached across the counter, Aurora pressed her face into Mikes shoulder. The arm disappearing a moment later and Mike pulled them into the back and out the door labeled: EMPLOYEES ONLY.

Scrambling up the stairs, Aurora wanted to scream at the pain that crested up and down her leg as the four ran up the stairs. "Here," Aurora pointed, the four of them turning down a hall that down them to the stairs that led back down, to the ground level. Only this led to the loading doc where the elevator down to the Russian base was.

The gate opened, as the four, Aurora and Eleven balanced on Mike and Max's arms stepped out, only to turn back as they made eye contact with Billy. Mike screamed as Eleven hopped while Aurora limped to follow the speed. Max letting go to run back to close the gate once more, making it to the back halls with the others again.

The lights were flashing as they rushed down the yellow halls, Mike slamming the up button for the Elevator when the door slammed open and Billy walked in. He looked much different from when Aurora saw him last, covered in blood and still in his life guarding uniform. His eyes though, they were void of everything, almost black and soulless as he staked down the hall.

Max stepped outside the room, as Aurora glanced around to find some way of getting out. But they were fully trapped, there was one way in and Billy Hargrove was blocking it. They could only hope that the elevator showed up in time. Aurora glanced around looking for some type of weapon to defend themselves, and only found a wall of pipes. She began tugging at them, willing one to easily be pulled off.

She heard Billy smack Max across the face as she tried to reason with him, and she heard when he stalked into the room. At the last second, the pipe broke from the wall, and Aurora swung around smacking the boy across the face. The hit did nothing to distract him, in fact it only infuriated him more, as the blow he delivered to her cheek sent her flying into the wall.

The last thing she heard was Mike screaming before it was abruptly cut off as she succumbed to the darkness bleeding into her vision.
