"The Grounders cauterized the wound. Saved his life."

They had Jasper laying stretched out, his chest exposed to Clarke who studied whatever was on his chest and the wound. Harley was sitting by his head, her hand on his shoulder, her face creased with worry. He had been moaning and groaning since they brought him back yesterday, and all the delinquents were shouting for him to shut up, from either outside or inside the dropship. Every single time she'd flinch, wondering when they'd realize Jasper is worth saving, like every other human life.

"This is infected," Clarke continued in a mumble, referring to the wound. "He could be septic." She turned her head, directing her attention to Monty. "Any progress on using the wristbands to contact The Ark?" She asked, as he had been working on making contact since they left yesterday. "My mother would know what to do."

Monty shook his head, taking his concerned gaze off of his best friend. "That would be a firm no," he answered.

Harley shook her head, feeling defeated, as Wells squatted on the end of Jasper. "How's he doing?" He asked.

"How does it look like he's doing, Wells?" Clarke snapped, her frustrated voice echoing off the walls of the dropship.

"Hey," Wells said, gently. "I'm just trying to help."

All of a sudden, Jasper started to continue moaning louder in the middle of him. Clarke was hit with an idea, and she looked down before speaking. "Right. You wanna help?" She flicked her head between Wells and Harley. "Hold him down."

Wells complied, pressing his hands on Jasper's legs. Harley was unsure of what she would do, but pressed both her hands down on his shoulder's, holding him in place. Clarke's request caught the attention of Monty, who stopped moving his hands momentarily to look over at them. "I'm not gonna like this, am I?"

Clarke didn't answer. Instead, she pulled her knife out and directed it to his chest. With wide eyes, Harley watched as she pushed the blade into Jasper's chest, carefully and with skill, so she was only cutting away certain parts of his skin. Jasper screamed in pain at the contact, leaning his head back.

Unable to watch, Harley turned her head and squeezed her eyes shut, but kept the pressure of her hands on his shoulders to keep him from thrashing. "Hold him still!" Clarke had told them both. "I need to cut away the infected flesh."

The small door on the dropship floor flew open, and Octavia climbed into their level. "Stop it!" She shouted, falling to her knees in between Clarke and Harley. "You're killing him!" She exclaimed over Jasper's screams.

Harley opened her eyes and looked down to where Jasper still groaned and screamed in pain before looking at Octavia. "She's trying to save his life," she told her, calming the other who nodded back.

The small group was joined by Bellamy, who sneaked his way up to the level as well. "She can't," he retorted to Harley's explanation. Clarke ignored him, finishing cutting away the part of the wound that she had to. "Kid's a goner. If you can't see that, you're deluded. He's making people crazy."

"We didn't drag him through miles of woods just to let him die," Clarke shot back, putting her knife away, and refusing to look at him.

"Take a look at him," Bellamy argued. "He's a lost cause."

Annoyed, Harley looked past Octavia's head and disagreed. "This isn't The Ark. Every life down here matters," she claimed. Even though she was privileged, and she's never seen anyone that she cared about be floated for a crime, she still believed every life on this planet mattered. "Even a dick like you deserves to live."

Bellamy was startled by Harley's outburst, due to the girl being so quiet and nice since they've been here, so he hadn't responded in any way but Octavia held a hurt expression as if she was starting to believe her brother. Clarke patted Jasper's head with a cloth as she assured the other different. "Octavia, I've spent my whole life watching my mother heal people. If I say there's hope, there's hope."

"This isn't about hope," Bellamy interrupted the two. "It's about guts. You don't have the guts to make the hard choices. I do. He's been like this for three days." He paused, seeing the Clarke was ignoring him before declaring; "If he's not better by tomorrow, I'll kill him myself." It shocked Harley, but she stayed quiet as he turned to leave. "Octavia, let's go," he demanded, opening the door again and getting ready to drop down.

Octavia didn't bother looking at Bellamy, looking disgusted by his words. "I'm staying here," she told him, making her brother look upset, but dismissed him.

Monty shook his head from where he sat after Bellamy left. "Power-hungry, self-serving jackass," he said angrily. "He doesn't care about anyone but himself." He stopped when seeing Octavia tense up. "No offense," he finished, apologizing. Octavia shrugged and shook her head, understanding that Monty was right.

Every time there was a noise in the dropship, Harley would turn her head and looking at the opening of their level. Clarke had left with both Finn and Wells after talking outside about what the grounders used on Jasper's chest to keep his wound shut. She left Harley with Monty to watch over Jasper, keep him alive until they got back. Harley wasn't any expert on anything medical, at all, but Clarke instructed her to keep a cloth on Jasper's head and another on his wound until they got back.

Suddenly, Harley heard a loud noise coming from the level below her, along with people coughing loudly. Startled, she handed the cloth to Monty. "I'm going to see what's going on," she told him, and he nodded, pressing the piece of fabric back to Jasper's chest. She quickly left, climbing down the ladder, to see the delinquents closing the dropship door shut and coughing into their hands.

"What's going on? Is everyone okay?" Harley questioned aloud, hoping to catch the attention of someone.

Octavia stumbled forward, coughing into her arm. "Air got thick with some kind of fog, everybody's skin started burning," she explained, as Harley put a hand on her back until she caught her breath. "Harley, my brother's out there - "

Even though Harley didn't like Bellamy, at all, she could see the scared look on Octavia's face and tried to assure her. "He'll be fine," she interrupted. She looked around, seeing the sick delinquents, and tried to assure herself. "We'll all be fine." Harley shook her head, motioning for the other to follow her in checking if the delinquents were okay.

They had a couple burn marks on their skin, but nothing serious. Harley made sure they were okay, with sheets wrapped around them and water to drink to soothe their coughing before heading back up the ladder. Monty chose to come to stay down with them and rest, so Harley had went back to caring for Jasper with Octavia beside her instead.

However, Jasper became worse as time went by. Harley figured that Clarke, Wells, and Finn were stuck out in the woods somewhere with the medical plants they needed, so she did everything she could to see Jasper would stay alive until they got back. However, that didn't stop the loud moans of pain, even if he wasn't moving.

It didn't bother Harley, or Monty, more so worried them, wondering if that would be Jasper's last breath. Otherwise for everyone else, the delinquents below them, it was a huge bother. They have been shouting that Jasper's cried of pain was driving them crazy, that they can't take this much longer, and someone should shut the kid up.

Harley heard a loud mumble of words from downstairs before Monty was racing up the ladder, panting. "Murphy's going to kill Jasper!" He exclaimed, throwing his body up and trying to close the hatch when seeing Murphy's head pop up.

Octavia quickly jumped to her feet to help, as Harley turned around on her knees and shielded Jasper's body with her own. Octavia kicked Murphy in the face, twice, before he was forced to back down and they slammed the hatch shut. Monty sat on it, using his body weight to keep it closed. "The lock's on the other side!" He exclaimed in fear as Octavia went to find something to hold it shut.

"Don't let him in!" Harley begged as Murphy had continued to force his way in, the door bouncing underneath Monty each time it was pushed against.

"I'm gonna kill him!" Murphy shouted from the other side, pushing harder against the door. "Let me in, Monty! Let me in!" He continued as Octavia used her strength to pull out a pipe that was loose from the dropship.

"No rush!" Monty declared, sarcastically. "I'm fine here!"

Finally, Octavia got the pipe out. "I got it!" She announced, rushing over. Monty moved out of the way and she quickly shoved it through the handle and the ladder, keeping it shut. Panting, they both backed away as Harley breathed a sigh of relief.

Not only did Clarke, Finn and Wells bring back what they needed for Jasper after the burning fog fiasco, but they also brought back a bottle of, what Finn called; booze. They had strong drinks like that on The Ark, but mostly people could get them by trading illegally. Clarke and Wells were outside, while Harley sat with Octavia, Monty and Finn to watch over Jasper. He was unconscious now, which was better than hearing him groan in pain. Harley just assumed he was starting to heal, and so she left his side momentarily to sit with the small group.

Monty coughed into his fist after drinking the bottle, hinting to Harley it was strong to swallow. He passed it to Finn, who didn't hesitate in drinking quickly. "Smooth," he muttered roughly before coughing himself and handing it over to Octavia.

Tilting her head back, Octavia took a long drink and a harsh swallow. "Disgusting," she commented, her face scrunched. "Love it. Harley, you want some?" She asked, using the toe of her shoe to gently nudge the other's leg.

Looking at the bottle Octavia had outstretched, Harley paused before shaking her head. "No, I don't really uh - do that," she answered hesitantly.

Octavia gave Harley a strange look, as did the other two, while cocking her head to the side, like somehow Harley didn't belong there. "How are you a delinquent again?" She questioned sarcastically. Harley smiled wide, shaking her head with a short laugh. Octavia's question, that was more like a statement, was right she realized. She didn't belong there, and it was funnier than it should have been due to the irony.

They were cut off when a quiet sputtering sound filled the air, and Jasper's quiet mumble of words. "Can I, uh, get a hit of that?"

Harley's head whipped around, and she looked in amazement at the sight of Jasper lifting his head. "Jasper!" She exclaimed in excitement, relieved that he was okay, rushing to stand on her feet and make her way to him, same as the others.

"Let's start with the soft stuff," Finn suggested, grinning to Jasper as he picked up a cup of clean water that had been prepared. He put his hand on the back of Jasper's head, carefully lifting it so he wouldn't choke, before bringing the rim of it to his mouth and letting him drink out of it.

When he was finished, Jasper looked around at the small group surrounding him. "Was that a dream?" He asked. "Or did I get speared?" Monty smiled, reaching out and grasping his best friend's hand with his own, patting it.

Smiling to herself, Harley ran her hand through Jasper's dark hair and looked down at him, feeling the most calm that she had since she landed.
