               EMILIA LOUISE BENNET has been Sienna Hastings's best friend since they both were just ten years old, young, rosy-cheeked and innocent. Emilia has always been there for Sienna, helping her through all her sadness. Helping her through her mother's death, supporting her when her heart got broken by many men and more. She was Sienna's rock, the one who she relied on for everything.

    Then why hadn't she realised that Emilia had been in love with her since they were fourteen?

    Emilia could never tell Sienna what she felt, for doing that would just break their friendship, and she would never risk that. But that was okay; she could bear all the heartbreak whenever Sienna talked to her about the various boys she liked. It was okay because, in the end, those men couldn't serve Sienna in the way Emilia did, attend to her, or share each other's deepest secrets.

    Emilia could never tell Sienna what she felt, but she could write. And so, she wrote Sienna letters, poured all of her feelings into extravagant words, hoping it would satisfy her. That was all she could do. Because the jeopardy of losing the love of Sienna Hastings — whether it be platonic or romantic — was too much compared to Emilia having a heavy heart. She keeps the letters locked in a box under her bed, just like she bolted her longing heart with chains to keep her bursting emotions at bay.
