BROTHERS.
episode one: kim daily news
❀
❝noona, why is the stove on fire?❞
"do you guys think you can handle the bakery for today?"
eunhee and seokjin were being told to run errands for the family bakery while their parents went out to an important business party.
"of course, mom." jin said, "just have fun at the party, it has been a while since both you and dad were laid back."
"yes, ever since you decided to adopt those de–" jin nudged eunhee before she can finish her sentence, "devilishly-nice boys."
their mother smiled as she knew they understood and gave them a piece of paper with writing that listed down what they needed to do for the day.
"now, your father and i wrote down instructions for you both inca–" both siblings groaned as they interrupted their mother.
"we're not kids anymore, mom." eunhee whinesd and her mother hugged them both.
"let's get going before we're late!" their father yelled as their mom gave them both a hug and kiss on the cheeks.
"by the way, good luck taming the little beasts!" their father yelled as they both exited the door and closed it.
"very encouraging, dad." jin sarcastically said out loud as he suggests to read the list provided by their parents.
ERRANDS:
• organize the sweets in the front window
• shine the floor before the customers arrive
• bake batches of bread for today's daily loaves
• get ingredients for tonight's family dinner and cook
• clean the house before we get home
• cash the register/daily job
• take care of the others
"this shouldn't be too hard, right lil sis?" seokjin smiled as he wrapped an arm around her.
"mmm, if we had to live seven years with those guys, i'm pretty sure we can survive a day with them." eunhee smiled back at him.
❀
"never mind, i was wrong." eunhee said in a mono tone voice as she saw the chaos and destruction happening in front of her eyes.
"you jinxed it." jin sighed as he too stared.
a few moments back, eunhee was organizing the sweets in front of the window, while jin was lecturing the others that they needed to help around the bakery and the house now that they were more mature.
jin thought that it would be a lot faster and easier if he taught them how to bake bread since it couldn't be that hard, but he was wrong. they listened for the few couple of seconds until eunhee called jin to help her shine the floor at the front. he left them to do their job and felt proud of his lecture, that was until eunhee smelled smoke coming out of the kitchen door.
when they rushed into the kitchen, there they saw, chaos and destruction.
taehyung and hoseok were throwing eggs and flour at each other, using the pan trays as a sheild and the counter tables for a fort. jimin was making cookies instead of bread and teasing jungkook by naming it after him. jungkook was the only one properly making a batch as he rolled the dough around trying to ignore jimin's presence. namjoon also tried to bake a batch while telling taehyung and hoseok to knock it off as they threw some in his hair. lastly, they noticed yoongi wasn't anywhere to be seen.
"where's yoongi?" jin shouted over the chaos.
"he went out to buy the groceries for tonight's dinner." jimin explained, obviously he would know.
"alright, i'll go find him while you go–" eunhee was telling jin when she was suddenly interrupted.
"noona, why is the stove on fire?" jungkook asked as he pointed at a burning stove.
"oh my god!" eunhee screamed, as jin took a bucket of water and poured it on the stove.
"okay, who left the stove on?!" jin shouted, his veins practically popping out of his neck.
everyone excluding eunhee pointed at jin himself as he sighed, "right, i forgot. it was me."
"seriously though, i left you guys here for only a few minutes," he went on, "then this happens!"
eunhee slowly crept out of the situation by going out of the door, and walked around the streets to find yoongi. since it has only been a few minutes, he couldn't be far. plus, he was a slow walker—noting that sports aren't his thing. she soon spotted him sitting on a bench, having a quick break—he barely even walked a block yet.
she stopped right in front of him with a disappointed look on her face, "really, yoongs?" she had her hand on her waist and tilted her head.
"ah, hey eunhee," he saw her and opened his arms wide, "carry me."
"ew, no." eunhee said as she patted his back, "you're a big boy, get up and walk yourself."
yoongi groaned as he picked himself up and continued their way to the supermarket.
❀
"i wonder which the other boys would prefer..?" eunhee tried to decided between having mushroom soup or noodles for dinner.
she put the box of noodles away, deciding they should try mushroom soup today. "we always eat noodles anyways." she shrugged, as she took more cans of soup.
she knew the boys and her had big stomachs, and when it comes to dinner, one can of soup is definitely not enough. when taking all those cans, one managed to fall and roll of away from eunhee. she took notice of this and started running towards it, when the can came in contact with a person's foot.
he stared down at his feet to see the can of soup and picked it up to observe it. turns out, it was exactly what he was looking for and added it to his cart.
gosh darn it! eunhee tried to swear, but then remembered jin always telling her not to—even if he himself sometimes does.
the guy walks away with his cart as eunhee counts how many cans she has, "2, 4 .. 6, 8..–this isn't enough!" she bolted towards the guy and calls for the can of soup.
when he reaches the checkout, he finally turns around to face her. "what?" he asked harshly, looking annoyed.
"y-you," eunhee was confident when it came to yelling and the person not giving them full attention, but this was different, "you took a can of soup that landed on your foot.. –i was actually gonna buy that."
"..–and it happens to be the last one." she mumbled as the guy huffed and took the damn can from his cart.
he looked back at her after taking the can and holding it in his hand, "well then that sucks." he snickered, "i found it after you lost it. finders keepers."
the guy was next to pay, so he turned around to hand everything to the cashier before leaving the building.
jerk! eunhee tried insulting him inside her mind, but couldn't help taking it back.
eunhee was furious inside, but was soon calmed down when yoongi arrived from looking at the meat section. "what's up with you, kiddo?"
"let's just go home, yoongs." she pleaded, which yoongi found unusual since it was always his place to say such things like that.
"alright, let's just pay for these really quickly and walk home."
they quickly paid with the manual checkouts and headed outside where eunhee wanted to start a scene again, when he saw him.
"y-you!" eunhee shouted, as she pointed at the guy who was clearly having a rough conversation on the phone.
she walked towards him to shout some more when he ended his phone call quickly and throwing his hands in the hair, "great! just great!"
"hey, eunhee!" yoongi called from behind, he really wanted to leave now.
"hold on yoongs," eunhee wanted to settle this, "look. all i want is th–..!" the mysterious dude threw her the can as eunhee tried to catch it.
he laughs at the sight of her reaction, "i don't need it anymore." he explained, along with a some what smile.
they stared at each other for a while. he kind of reminded eunhee of his little brother, jungkook. facial features were somewhat alike, and they acted as if they were on their stormy period—switching on and off between their feelings.
"t-thanks." she stuttered as he walked away.
meanwhile, yoongi was glaring at the guy's direction and decided to drag eunhee away to go home. during the walk, yoongi told her who he was and to look out for him, "his name is sungyeol, the playboy at college."
oh wow, a playboy wannabe—like jungkookie. she laughed inside.
"i can't wait to tell the news to the others." eunhee said as they were nearing the house.
then, when eunhee opened the doors they were shocked; the house was spotless. "woah. what kind of sorcery is this?"
jin then appeared out of nowhere and explained, "i scared them into thinking taehyung would be serving dinner for a week if they didn't clean."
"i am hurt. eunhee, i need a hug." taehyung pouted as he opened his arms.
"hugs can wait, i need to tell you all about this guy–"
"guy?!" everyone came running out of rooms when they heard her say it and panicked.
"sit down brothers, eunhee is going to tell us a story!" taehyung beamed, as everyone sat being attentive to everything they had to say about this guy.
