BROTHERS.
episode nineteen: you can be king
❀
❝you just got yourself a kim brother's approved sticker!❞
the cold wind rustled through the once gentle air, blowing through eunhee's charcoal hair and her white dress that almost reached her knees. she was indeed scared that an answer would come out of her mouth, even though she had never thought about it.
"do you love me too?"
she has at one point, grew fond of eunhee more than a friend, but that was near the beginning of their early friendship stages, but it's been far too long to have those feelings again—especially after how much older and more mature they have gotten. eunhee treated those feelings as one of her little-immature-crushes-that-will-only-last-a-week. she realized after a while in high school that she only liked other guys because of the nice ways they would act towards her, but that was just them being nice—she was just being a hopeless romantic and not realizing that they were way out of her league.
"i don't know, eunwoo. you literally just came out of nowhere all of a sudden to tell me this after two years, so i don't know what to think of you anymore."
there. she said it. honestly, and in a blunt but straight forward way for him to understand how she had been feeling this entire night.
she grabbed both of his hands and pushed it off of her face, making eunwoo form a frown on his lips.
"if you really did love me then maybe you would've at least said goodbye, it would've hurt less than how it is now."
she stared into his gazing chocolate eyes. to eunhee, they were full of wonder and curiosity of the world, but also with ambition and charms. she knew once eunwoo had settled with something he has already said or done, there was no backing down from it.
she assumed that he was going to go back to paris after a while to study once he gets bored here in korea again too, so she wasn't acting the friendliest or trustworthy to this old friend of hers.
she glanced to see behind her, and saw the path that lead into the hedge maze and back into the festival.
she just wanted that night to be over already, or to at least spend some quality time with her brothers instead.
"i'm sorry, but i have to go."
she apologized to a speechless eunwoo, and took a few steps back before running at full speed out of the hedge maze. at first, her mind was too clouded to focus on the directions out of the maze, but after a lot of dead-ends and turns, she finally made it out of the hedge maze.
she was panting, obvious that she was out of breath and looked like she had just ran a marathon.
eunhee turned her head behind her to see if eunwoo had been following her. fortunately, it didn't look like he was, or if he was then he is taking more time to figure out the way out of the maze.
"eunhee?" a soft masculine voice called from in front of her, making her turn her head back.
it was just a curious looking minghao.
his figure was slim and quite tall, that he looked like an instagram model to eunhee, especially judging from the outfit he was wearing. he had a striped black and white turtle neck under his back collared jacket, along with black jeans and black dr martens boots.
he was that one kid who answers black is their favorite color, when artists have claimed black isn't even on the color wheel—it's a neutral.
she took deep breaths to recall her stamina, but still managed to give him a smile, "hey, hao hao."
"what're you doing here?" she asked the boy.
"i should be asking you that." he retorted, eunhee awkwardly smiled, not knowing whether to tell him the situation she was just in.
"–it's okay, you don't have to tell me." he gave her a grin, chuckling about the various scenarios he could possibly think of—he never did think of the actual scenario she was in though.
"butttt.. i was looking for you, earlier." he scratched his head, "except i didn't know where you were, and you weren't answering your phone.."
"so i thought you might've gone home or was spending time with your brothers. i didn't wanna be a bother so i stopped and just happened to bump into you."
eunhee shook her head in denial, "i'd love to spend time with you, you should've just asked me before.."
"it's just.. right now, my mind is kind of all over the place.. i don't know what to feel."
minghao ran up to her to hold her shoulders and check her forehead for any symptoms of an illness, but the only thing he felt was sweat. he giggled at how much of a mess eunhee looked, as she pouted at being laughed at.
"you seem to be doing okay, apart from controlling your hormones around me."
"—like i know i'm hot and all but i didn't know i radiated my hotness enough to reach you and make you sweat."
he joked around with her, trying to cheer her up. successfully, he ended up getting a scoffed smile from her and a brutal hit to the arm.
"that's the first time i have ever witnessed you trying to flirt."
of course, eunhee knew he was saying those things in a jokingly way, but it was truly the first time he has ever done anything close to flirting while he was with eunhee. she had never heard him even talk to any other girl apart from mingyu—if she could even count him as a girl, since he reminds her of a housewife.
"no wonder. i think it's illegal for you to try that again."
minghao pretended his chest hurt, and looked for something underneath his black collared jacket. his actions immediately caught and worried eunhee.
he took his out of his jacket and showed it to eunhee, it was a sneaky finger heart.
"i'll steal your heart even if it's illegal~" he slyly winked at her, making her cringe and laugh out loud.
or as jungkook would say it, LOL.
after she settled down, she looked around the perimeter once again, hoping eunwoo wasn't nearby to disturb the carefree moment.
her attention was brought back to minghao when he spoke, "hey, are you okay now?"
she looked back at him, and gulped, before doing tiny nods.
"hmm.. i'm not convinced that you are.."
he looked at eunhee, who still looked out of
place—he noticed that she looked like she was frantically looking for someone. once again, he put his hands on her shoulders to get her attention and gave her a puppy smile.
"hey, i want my friend to be happy tonight, so i have a great idea that i know will surely cheer you up!"
she looked at him in curiosity, "a great idea?"
"i'm sure you would want to spend time with me.. but, i think it would be better if i lead you to your brothers and you spend time with them instead!"
"they could probably cheer you up more than i could.." he looked a bit down, thinking about how he just sacrificed the only time he could spend some time alone with eunhee, but he knew that he did the right thing to make her happy.
eunhee took one of his hands and smiled, "i'd love to spend time with my brothers! but, only if you join us."
she did want to spend time with her brothers, it's what she had been wanting to do this entire night. she knew that they were probably causing mischief and mayhem somewhere around the festival. however, she knew that she couldn't be selfish, especially when she saw the hint of sadness displayed on minghao's face when he said that. she knew that he had probably wanted to spend the festival night with her, since mingyu promised to go out with jungkook and yugyeom.
eunhee internally prayed that when minghao and her gets back, there even is still a festival.
minghao looked back up at eunhee in surprise, he never expected to be included, especially if it was with her brothers. although he was scared, he didn't want to waste the night just to spend it alone—he agreed in response.
"let's go?" she clung both of her hands on his left arm and dragged him away to the heart of the festival.
she was so busy skipping back to the festival with minghao, that she didn't realize that eunwoo was watching them behind the entrance of the hedge maze the entire time.
❀
jimin held his newly prized possession in his arms, that jin had won for him. it was a pillow in the shape of a dog's head that was wearing a yellow hoodie—it reminded jin of his own brother who was holding it, which kind of scared him.
jungkook and namjoon were no where to be found that night, since they were off spending time with their friends or lover—which the both of them set up for their brother as a favor. on the other hand, hoseok and yoongi were probably still helping out with their stations, and taehyung was probably already roaming around doing something stupid.
the two of them walked through the crowd of people cheering or socializing in the middle of the stone paths. they didn't know where they wanted to go next, since they already saw almost every event that was being hosted around the central area.
the loud cheering of various students captured their attention, making them turn their heads to their left side to witness a people crowding around the mechanical bull ride.
they both looked at each other, wondering if they were both curious to walk over there together—to their delight, they were both childish enough to run over and join the crowd, cheering for whoever was still hanging onto the rampaging bull ride.
jimin, however, was not tall enough to see who was on it, while seokjin was too pressed about someone smacking his hair in the process of running inside the crowd.
"kim taehyung! you! can! do! it!"
"kim taehyung! we love you!"
the name went in and out of seokjin's ear, not realizing his own brothers name was just being cheered on by the people surrounding him. he was at the point where he just wanted to make them shut up so they could stop ruining the hair he styled for more than ten minutes on.
jimin though, recognized his name right away and pushed through the front row of people to see taehyung literally hanging upside down on the bull like a koala on a tree.
in times like this, he should yell the operator to stop and help his brother out of this mess.
but in other times like this, which is probably never, he should videotape this rare moment and hype his brother on.
he took his phone out to pull up the camera app and started recording taehyung yelling out for his mom at the top of his lungs. jimin just kept laughing at him and shouting his name to encourage him.
taehyung managed to be strong enough to last about two minutes on the bull—no one knows how he even managed to stay hanging on it with the abstract technique of his. jimin and jin came up to congratulate him in his achievement and laughed about the video they took off him.
"you should've seen how red your face and neck was!" jimin laughed at his brother, throwing his arm around his neck, "you were calling out for mom to come and get you out of there!"
taehyung lightly punched jimin in the stomach out of embarrassment and because of being exposed. they all promised not to talk about it, for a while.
as they walked towards the entrance of the school building to sit down on the stairs, they spot eunhee walking out of the side paths that lead to the school garden. they also saw the mysterious looking boy who tagged along beside their little sister.
"who is he? he looks emo?"
"is he part of a cult?"
jimin and jin grew more curious and skeptical of the boy, but taehyung hit their heads after recognizing minghao's face.
"no, you dummies. that's minghao, from that tricycle gang we met before—he ate lunch with us remember, jimin?"
"–no i don't, mandella effect."
jimin replied savagely, as he was too focused on how close eunhee looked with minghao.
jimin suggested for them to go up to the both of them, and have eunhee introduce them to her new friend. since taehyung and jin didn't really care, they just followed their curious brother and surprised eunhee from behind.
"hey heehee!" taehyung shouted, giving eunhee a big fluffy hug.
"woah," she turned to her side to see a happy taehyung, hugging her from behind, "hey! we were actually just looking for you guys."
"you were?"
"yeah, i wanted you all to meet this silly boy beside me. his name is xu minghao, he's my friend." eunhee gestured to her side, to show a small little bean smiling at the three boys awkwardly and waving at their direction.
the three of them stared at minghao and began analyzing the raven looking boy, and his striking appearance. his black hair, long mullet, and sick looking eyes made jin assume he was bad news to eunhee. he didn't know whether or not he was actually a friend of hers or just someone who wants to do something bad to her like sungyeol.
in contrast, jimin and taehyung found minghao to be pretty intriguing. since they've known if for quite a while after eating lunch with him and mingyu, they knew that his intimidating appearance wasn't like his soft and genuine personality at all. they were actually beginning to grow fond of him, since he was just as dumb as they were sometimes, and he's always put others' feelings before his.
"i-i'm sorry if i look weird today, people say my looks usually scare them at first.." minghao bowed in apology, worried that he gave all of them a bad impression with the way he was dressed that night.
"no, no, it's alri–"
"–if it's the hair, then don't worry! i was thinking of dying it back to a dark hazel and cutting my mullet.."
taehyung gasped in horror, since minghao's mullet was his favorite part of him—he rarely saw anyone who actually had a mullet, and he was still hesitating in whether he should grow out his hair like him.
"don't do it, i beg you!" he crashed onto the ground and kneeled in front of the boy, and begging with his hands.
minghao helped him back up on his feet, and they agreed to grow mullets together and become 'mullet buddies'.
they were almost ready to celebrate the night, but before that would happen, they all decided to look for their other two brothers who were missing in action—also known as the sope brothers.
hoseok has just texted jimin, to ask him if he could come and watch him perform his special dance choreography that he had been working on for two weeks. when they heard this, they were all beyond excited to be invited by their brother to hype him up in public—while also humiliating him in the process.
jimin lead the way, walking forward in the direction towards the entrance gates of the school, and near the edge of the sidewalk inside the fields of the school, there he was. he was doing dance breaks, flips, and turns, on a black mat placed on the ground. a group of teenagers from high school were huddling around the side, and clapping to the beat of the music, while other people, donated their spare change inside his school gym bag.
they all walked steadily towards his area, and quietly joined the group of teenagers to watch hoseok, who took a water break, before going on his phone to select the next song.
once the song played, jimin immediately recognized it, since he remembered his brother asking him to do the dance in sync with him once.
'boy meets evil.' he smiled, and they all began cheering for him.
i didn't want to let go of the devil's hand~
"too bad!" jimin began screeching the lyrics and pumping his hand up in a fist, "but it's too sweet! it's too sweet! it's too sweet!"
eunhee was just witnessing his older brother, who normally convinced her to be the most innocent and cute sunshine out of the seven, to be the most dangerous man on earth, after seeing him do smooth body rolls with a dark and serious expression on his face.
minghao covered her eyes with his hand, when he saw how shocked eunhee looked.
"JHOOOOOOOPE!" jimin screamed with his soft and soothing voice, which his brother, who was still dancing, recognized right away.
hoseok smiled at his family's direction, and sent finger hearts in between his dance moves.
yeah it's evil..
hoseok finally ended all of his performances, with his last song being his most hyped one.
a numerous amount of people gathered around him, after they heard jimin screaming his stage name, and taehyung was causing a huge commotion screaming at people on the sidewalk to come and watch his brother perform.
this meant that hoseok was able to make lots of profit for their classroom that year, which impressed his entire classroom and his professor.
as they waited for hoseok to change up into his casual wear, and wipe all the sweat from his body, the four of them, including minghao, waited for him near the basketball court.
it was there that jin sported yoongi sitting on a bench, and for the first time, having a conversation with a girl.
"yah, look over there!" he shouted-whispered to everyone, hitting taehyung's chest in the process, to get his attention.
"is that yoongi-hyung?" taehyung blinked his eyes multiple times, checking if his eyesight was telling the truth or he was starting to hallucinate from the bull ride.
"with a girl?" eunhee gasped in excitement, already thinking about having a new friend at the house if yoongi and the pretty girl got together.
"wait, he's cheating on me?" jimin gasped along with eunhee, and joked around pretending to be shocked and horrified with the topic.
the blonde girl got up from the bench and said something to yoongi while smiling, before she left him speechless on the bench.
once hoseok got out of the change rooms, they all quickly dragged him towards yoongi's direction, while minghao awkwardly tagged along.
yoongi was still sitting on the bench, in his red basketball shorts and shirt, soaked in his own sweat. jimin came to cling his arm around his brothers wet neck, and immediately started teasing him.
"hyung~ i didn't know you were a smooth guy."
"–what do you want?" he bluntly replied.
although, he couldn't help but show them a gummy smile slipping out of his control. he recalled the memory of wendy telling him his name, when everything felt like time stopped and he admitted to himself that he found her to be interesting.
taehyung was already screaming and tugging his shirt, fanboying about his brother looking all sappy because of a girl, "this hyung! is in love! someone call the ambulance i'm having cardiac arrest!"
jin began teasing yoongi about what their first date would be like, the moment they have their first kiss, listen to music together by sharing earbuds on a bus, snuggling while watching movies—everything was making yoongi blush and look like he was boo boo the fool.
his expression changed into an annoyed looking grandpa when he noticed that someone else was standing on the bench near him, beside eunhee.
"who is he?" he asked in an accusing way, already making minghao more intimidated than before he met the maknae line.
eunhee repeated the same introduction to his brother again, expect he warned yoongi this time to stop giving her friend glares from behind, and that she'd want them to respect him as any other person.
yoongi didn't really want to, but he complied with her anyways to make her happy that night, and to loosen his strict personality up.
since they were all just about done leading their classroom's station, they all left the bench to walk around and spend the entire rest of the night together.
although, minghao still felt like he was intruding in their personal moments, he felt like he should've left eunhee to be with his brothers so he didn't feel like a third wheel to them.
"hyung, let's go over there!" taehyung was pulling hoseok's arm and pointing his finger at the sight of a large and colorful bouncy castle.
many children, and even university students, were enjoying the childish place and having the best of their time there. this made taehyung and hoseok more encouraged to buy tickets to enter the castle and do backflips. since no one denied their idea, they all bought tickets for themselves to enter.
as promised, taehyung and hoseok we're attempting to do backflips and cool stunts while using the jumpy environment to their advantage.
jimin was giving every child he bumped into a cute eye smile, and even held a little boy's hand to jump together with him.
seokjin and yoongi acted like mature adults who looked like they just went inside to take care of their kids, but after a few minutes past, they acted like they were the kids.
while eunhee jumped beside a few children who grew fond of her beauty, and kindergarten teacher-like personality. minghao was just bouncing, while also playing with the kids, while sneaking glances at eunhee.
it wasn't until he saw her lose her balance and fell to the bouncing floor, that caught his attention to stop bouncing. he saw how eunhee struggled to get up, since the kids beside her kept jumping, making the floor unstable enough to get up.
an overaged man, about the age of 25, was inside the bouncy castle—and from the looks of it, he judged that he was a pervert. minghao observed how he had been watching eunhee, waiting to see if her dress would float all the way up to see something he was waiting for, and now that eunhee was laying in the floor and was vulnerable, he creepily bounced towards her.
yoongi was the first one to notice the man bouncing behind eunhee, looking like he was ready to touch her ass. but his distance was a bit too far for him to reach the perverted man in time.
luckily, minghao was just close enough to her, that he pushed the man who almost touched her and was about to fall on top of her. he harshly pushed him on the side of the bouncy castle, where we was pushed aside to hit the net.
eunhee looked at the man with horrified eyes, and made sure to pull her dress more down. minghao hugged her to ease her mind, and reassure her that nothing was going to happen to her.
yoongi was fuming with anger at the man, but when minghao pushed him out of the way, he sighed in relief and caught his breath.
throughout the night, minghao kept trying to change her perspective about the event into a more comedic side, so she wouldn't have to remember it as a scary experience.
"you should've seen the look on his face when i pushed him, the scene looked like it came out of a kdrama," he laughed, alongside eunhee, who was still tugging the hem of her dress down, "i pushed him in mid-air and he flew into the side of the bouncy castle on the net!"
taehyung and jimin laughed, after remembering the chaotic scene left by a skinny but tall looking emo in a bouncy castle. yoongi snickered, pretending to not care, but deep down, he really appreciated minghao's courageous action towards his little sister.
for once he felt at ease, he felt like he didn't need to look out for her if he was around her.
"why don't we take pictures over here?" jin slid the curtains from inside the photo booth, which was currently not occupied. it was placed near the sidewalk to promote the photography club.
they all scorched themselves inside, although it was really difficult to fit seven people inside of a small photo booth, they all managed to make room to capture everyone's face.
"alright, let's all do a funny face next!" jimin suggested.
the timer began ticking, and they all prepared to pose for the camera. taehyung made an over exaggerated square boxed grin making his nostrils flare up, jimin pretended to smile angirly, hoseok was doing a dance while singing "touch my body".
yoongi passionately have a gummy smile—since he somehow found that funny instead of normal, while jin awkwardly smiled in front of the camera—he took up most of the space for his handsome face.
eunhee decided to form double chins as a joke, while minghao was dabbing in the background, silently laughing to himself.
once they ran out of slots to take more pictures, they all went out to pay for their share of each picture, and spent their last hour eating fish balls together while sitting on the ledge of the sidewalk.
minghao looked at each one of the brothers and secretly smiled to himself, thinking about how much fun he actually had with eunhee's brothers. he could tell that they really cared about their sister, as much as she had started to have a special place in minghao's heart.
instead of spending that night alone with eunhee, he found himself enjoying his time more with her five brothers—making him seven times less lonelier that night.
minghao remembered when taehyung came up to him that night and patted his shoulder, "you just got yourself a kim brother's approved sticker!"
he smiled at the memory, although he wasn't sure if he was actually serious or not.
he didn't mind if they didn't accept him yet, he just hoped that they wouldn't be too annoyed of him.
because he knew that he wanted to be by their sister's side for quite a long time.
❀
they all went home, along with jungkook and namjoon, who looked beyond exhausted from that night. they were instantly knocked out on the couch once they entered the house.
jin laid the car keys back into the key holder near the entrance, while eunhee bid everyone goodnight, along with their separate goodnight hugs and kisses—they were all tired too, so all their kisses on the forehead were sloppy.
taehyung and jimin were next to fall asleep on the couch, clearly exhausted from all the energy they exerted in hyping up their brother, and doing stunts in the bouncy castle.
hoseok went upstairs to grab blankets and pillowed for his brothers, and quietly tip-toes back upstairs to give them to jin and yoongi to help him distribute.
as he placed a blanket on top of the snoring namjoon, he noticed a photo fall out of his jacket pocket. he kneeled down to take a look, and realized it was the photos that they took earlier from the photo booth.
he smiled, while analyzing all the happy and silly faces that were shown in the photos. although, something caught his eye.
in one of the photos, where they all said to give their loveliest smile to show namjoon and jungkook, who clearly missed out on their fun, someone wasn't looking at the camera.
"hey hyung, take a look at this." he called jin to look at the photo and see what he saw as well, making yoongi curious enough to look at the photo as well.
in the picture, everyone was giving their cutest, most gummiest smile, but in the corner, minghao stood there with a a lovely eye smile, and soft eyes.
but the thing is, he wasn't looking at the camera.
no, he was staring sweetly to his side, looking at eunhee smiling for the camera.
hoseok gulped, not knowing whether or not he should be fanfirling or be worried for his sister.
"what do we do? i think he's in love with our sister.."
yoongi looked away and went back to placing a blanket on a sleeping baby, also known as jimin. seokjin and hoseok stared at him silently, they were both unsure what to think of the boy, since they knew they too were secretly growing fond of his personality.
yoongi looked at his two brothers with a blank face, he tilted his head and quietly said,
"honestly.. i wouldn't mind if it's him."

i know there's a lot of boy meets evil gifs, but c'mon, ya gotta hype up the golden hyung and stream epiphany !!1! like pls, ik maknae line already has enough views for their solos TuT but give some love to the hyung line too ~ especially namjoon's mixtape like wAKE UP !!
so i've decided to take a little break, since i've been spending my summer just watching bts videos and updating his fanfic,, i wanted to rest for the last few weeks of my summer break. plus, i haven't been motivated to write anything since i've been so drained from writing and meeting the deadlines that i set for each update. in the span of almost two months, i have written and published like 15 chapters with pages ranging from 25-30 chapters and that's crazy >< so i hope you all understand, and will wait to support this book!
now for some more questions / polls i'd like you guys to answer (since your opinions make a difference in my books) ☆彡 :
[1] which team are you voting for? team 2euns or minghee?
your votes are very crucial to how the plot of this story may play out! although i already have one in mind, i want to know your opinions first!
[2] are you ready for bts' new music video to be released?
bighit still hasn't dropped any mv trailers, and i was literally waiting on twitter for two days for something,, but they gave us a jacket shooting instead;; they really like making us look like boo boo the fool
[3] will you keep this book in your library and help promote it?
i've been trying my best to write a lot of chapters while i had the entire summer break to catch up on the big hiatus i went on, promoting my book was quite handful but it always made me happy when you guys agreed to checking it out and voting on it :)
[4] how did you like this chapter and the last few chapters? did the gifs make you feed attacked? ;^)
i purposely revolved 'season two' around the idea of the festival since it's an event where many people develop their relationships and make memories and meet new people. and that's exactly what has been happening in the last few chapters! i've tried giving you all a glimpse of everyone's lives and developing relationships, not just eunhee :)
