diego hargreeves scooped up buckets from under his rusted kitchen sink as he set them under the water falling from the ceiling. 

rain days were always the worst at his place. 

he quickly placed the bowls down as he sighed and laid down on the couch. hearing the patter of the rain on the roof and hearing it hit the bowls sounding like shattered glass.

just as he closed his eyes, a round of thunder rattles through the creaky apartment and there's a rapid knock at his door. 

when he reaches the door he see's a girl he remembers from a party a while back holding a baby in her arms. 

diego watches her mouth run but his brain isn't processing anything as she shoves the baby into his arms. 

he snaps out of out his daze looking down at the baby that appeared to be not even a full year old in his arms.

she's 4 months old.

this is your fault dickwad.

i'm not taking care of it.

that's what he hears the girl say before she slams the door on his face and leaves the 18 year old with the baby in his arms.

he looks down at the baby who seems to be wailing almost as loud as the rain outside the building.

could he have just put it up for adoption?

yes.

but he was going to try the hardest he could.

even if he fucked up.

cause diego never wanted his daughter to grow up with a dad like he had. 

he'd protect this girl with his whole life.
