ALEC STOOD IN MAGNUS' APARTMENT NEXT TO ADELAIDE AS THEY LISTEN TO MAGNUS EXPLAIN. Apparently Lorenzo had come over and practically told Magnus that he knew it was him who corrupted the ley lines. Even when that wasn't possible. But Lorenzo knew his connection with Asmodeous, the greater demon. "Why would Lorenzo accuse you of working with a greater demon, especially one like Asmodeus?" Alec asks as he crosses his arms against his chest. It didn't make any sense why they would be linked, only Adelaide and Magnus knew exactly why.

"Asmodeus and I have a history. He's one of the few demons capable of doing something like this." Magnus tells him as he sighs, looking down at his drink. Alec clenches his jaw before shaking his head.

"But we've fought greater demons before. But I've never seen anything like what happened at that party." Alec points out making Magnus nods his head.

"It has to do with the Ley lines." Magnus states as he looks over at Adelaide who was giving a comforting smile. She knew this was hard for Magnus to talk about, considering who Asmodeous was to him.

"Couldn't that mean that the seelie queen is involved? What do demons have to do with ley lines?" Alec asks, not understanding what the warlock was talking about.

"Healthy ley lines are the energy source for all magic, seelie and warlock alike, but they can become corrupted."Magnus explains as the seelie queen would have no motive to do something like this. "Asmodeus isn't just a greater demon. He's the most powerful prince of hell. And if Lorenzo is right, what happened at the party is just the beginning." He states as he was worried that something much worse would occur, and soon.

"And.. and you knew him personally?" Alec questions, being a little suspicious as he flickers his eyes between the two warlocks. Adelaide was just keeping her eyes to the ground.

"Asmodeus is my father."  Magnus tells the shadowhunter who's eyes widen slightly. He looks down at Adelaide who only lets out a small sigh.

"It wasn't my secret to tell, Alec." Adelaide says as she shrugs her shoulders. Adelaide always knew that Asmodeous was Magnus' father, it was one of the first things he had told her when they were first together. It was to show her that she could trust him because he had opened up to her.

"I was ashamed." Magnus admits with a small frown as he knew what it sounded like, his father being a greater demon.

"I knew every warlock had a demon parent but.. Asmodeus." Alec was shocked to say the least. This wasn't what he expected when Magnus told him he knew Asmodeous. "How are you a warlock if neither your mother or father was a demon?" Alec asks Adelaide as they never really talked about it. Sure, her mother was a warlock but she still shouldn't have been able to have Adelaide.

"It's always been a mystery how they came to conceive a child." Magnus pipes up for her as he sees the girl just fiddling with her fingers.

"Well, we have to stop him." Alec says as he clasps his hands together.

"First we have to track him down. And my father... His magic is unique." Magnus tells him as he looks down at the ground. "But if I can study the corrupt ley lines, we might be able to find him." He states but Alec only furrows his eyebrows.

"What are we waiting for?" Alec asks, there was no time to waste so why were they not doing anything right now.

"We need to get into Lorenzo's mansion. But I'd never be able to portal through his wards without him knowing." Magnus tells the shadowhunter who only smirks lightly raising an eyebrow.

"We don't always have to use magic. Like taking a shower, right?" He questions making Adelaide's eyebrows furrow as she wondered how those two even remotely ever talking about taking showers.

"Breaking and entering isn't exactly like taking a shower." Magnus points out as it wasn't the same at all, he would have to someone get into Lorenzo's house without the man knowing.

"Who said anything about breaking in?" Alec asks, making both of them raise their eyebrows at him. Adelaide just smiles, biting her bottom lip as she knew she had rubbed off on him in some ways.

"I think I like this new side of you." Adelaide admits as she puts her hand on his arm. Alec only rolls his eyes playfully before wrapping an arm around her and pulling her into his side.

☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎

THEY STOOD IN THE MAIN ROOM, hearing Alec explain what they were going to do about the corrupt ley lines. They found out that it wasn't just at Lorenzo's place but it was under the whole city of New York. All the warlocks were in danger if they were to use their magic. But some of the shadowhunters didn't exactly like Alecs plan to fight back. "You're gonna use the angelic core? Are you serious?" Raj asks with a scoff as he stared at Alec like had gone crazy. They just couldn't let themselves be exposed like that but apparently the Lightwood didn't care.

"This is our only chance to stop the corruption. We're gonna flood the ley lines with angelic energy and end this once and for all." Alec explains to them making Clary raise an eyebrow at the man.

"So your plan is basically divine Drano?" Clary asks as Jace glances towards her.

"The only problem is the institute is not built on any ley lines. At least not yet. That's where Magnus comes in." Alec tells them as he gestures to the warlock who takes a step forward.

"I know a spell that will allow me to temporarily divert the flow of magic at the core. Once the ley lines in place, you'll tap into the core, and we can kiss the demonic corruption goodbye." Magnus explains as he shows them using the table which shows a 3d hologram of the institute.

"Right and what happens when a demon shockwave hits while you're using your magic?" Raj suggests as he raises an eyebrow at the warlock. Raj demonstrated it on the table. "The core.. will be totally exposed." Raj says, showing how there was a big light before the hologram building blew to pieces.

"Well that doesn't look good." Jace mumbles as he looks towards his parabatai.

"If we're lucky, it'll only vaporize the institute." Magnus points out making Adelaide raise an eyebrow at him.

"But what if we're not lucky?" Isabelle asks as she looks at Magnus.

"Better not to think about that." Magnus states as he didn't even want to think of it as a possibility.

"That's a risk we have to take." Alec states as if they didn't do this, it could be catastrophic for the warlocks. But Raj only scoffs, crossing his arms against his chest.

"The whole point of building the institute away from the ley lines was to avoid something like this." Raj points out as he glares at the Lightwood. His eyes flicker to Adelaide, scoffing lightly. "Why not just quarantine the warlocks outside the city?" He suggests which makes Adelaide just glare back at him.

"Because kicking innocent people out of their homes isn't going to solve anything." Alec tells him but Raj only squints his eyes.

"Neither is blowing up the institute." He retorts which starts a huge argument, some people saying to make the warlocks leave while others were trying to keep the warlocks in New York.

"That's enough!" Alec shouts, making everyone shut up and look at him. "This isn't just about the warlocks. You know what happened at the hospital, everyone is at risk. We are under siege by a greater demon. It is our job to solve this problem." He explains to them, glaring at the group of people in front of him. "Evacuate the institute. Essential personnel stay behind." Alec states before grabbing Magnus and Adelaide and heading towards the energy room.

"You sure about this?" Magnus asks curiously as he glanced at Alec. They walk into the room as Alec lets out a sigh.

"You got a better idea?" Alec asks as he raises an eyebrow, making his way over to the controls.

"We can do this, Alexander. You don't have to be here." Magnus says as he didn't want to risk Alec getting hurt. Adelaide only takes off her jacket, placing it on the table.

"And let you two take all the glory?" Alec taunts with a smirk playing on his lips. His eyes move to Adelaide, bringing his hand up to her cheek. "As long as you're here, I'm not going anywhere." He tells her with a small smile on his face which she returns. He presses a soft kiss on her lips making Magnus roll his eyes.

"Glad to know you care so much about me." Magnus mutters as he moves over to the glass which showed the energy. "Well, then. Let's get started." He states as Adelaide walks over to him. Magnus nods his head before they both raise their hands beginning to bring the ley lines towards the energy force. Magnus groans as he presses his lips together tightly.

"A little further." Alec tells them as he stares at the monitor, they weren't where they needed them to be right now.

"Now!" Magnus says once the ley lines reach the energy. Alec presses the button but it just gives him an unauthorized notification. "Alexander, I can't hold it much longer! Do it now!" He tells the shadowhunter who's eyebrows were furrowed as he looks down at the screen. He tries again but it doesn't work.

"I can't, somebody locked me out." Alec says making Magnus groan as he glanced back at the raven haired man.

"Alec!" Magnus shouts as he struggles to hold it even with Adelaide helping him.

"I need to remove the energy manually!" Alec says as he rushed over to the panel, opening it.

"Well, whatever you have to do, do it quickly!" Magnus tells him as he looks over at Adelaide who was stumbling in her step trying to keep her feet planted on the ground.

"I can't.." Adelaide mutters as she shakes her head, feeling her head become foggy as she closes her eyes shut for a second.

"I'm working on it! It's rusted." Alec tells them as he tries to pull the lever. "It's rusted shut." He groans as he lets go of it, taking out his stele and activating one of his runes.

"Alec!" Magnus screams at him and finally Alec was able to get the lever to the other side, removing the energy making Magnus and Adelaide finally be able to let go.

Adelaide felt her heart race, her skin sweaty as she squeezes her eyes shut. She could hear the woman in her voice, she could almost feel the anger radiating off of her.
What did you do! You ruined everything!

Alec rushed over to them, bending down and helping them stay upright. He smiles as he looks in front of him. "I did it." He says which makes both of the warlocks stare at him with their eyes wide.

"You did it?" Magnus asks, out of breath but his voice was full of attitude. Alec just smirks at them, putting his hands on their shoulders.

"Oh, maybe I got a little help."

☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎

ALEC AND ADELAIDE HAD JUST FINISHED WALKING AROUND THEIR NEW APARTMENT. Obviously Adelaide had seen it but she wanted to show Alec as soon as possible so that he was able to move his stuff in quickly and they no longer had to stay at the institute. "So.." Adelaide says, trailing off as she stands in front of him. She gazes up into his eyes as Alec settles his eyes down at her after taking another glance around the place.

"It's a really nice place." Alec admits as he nods his head. Adelaide rolls her eyes as she places a hand on her hip.

"Well, duh. I picked it out." She states making him chuckle lightly as he looks back around the apartment. "And designed it." She adds making him smile down at her, pecking her lips.

"Well, you have amazing taste." Alec tells her and she only smiles up at him before pretending to think to herself.

"Hmm, I'm with you so-" Alec pokes at her side making her let out a giggle. "I'm kidding." She says before she is pulled closer to him as he leans down.

"You're incredible." Alec says as he presses a long kiss to her lips. Adelaide sighs into it, resting her hands on his chest. She pulls away, gazing up into his eyes.

"I know." Adelaide replies with a smirk before connecting their lips again. She can feel Alec move his hands to her ass, gripping it lightly before he settles then back on her hips. "We finally have a space where we can be alone." She says with a sigh of relief, knowing that they could finally have the peace and quiet they always desperately needed.

"And what do you suggest we do with this newly found alone time?" Alec asks, his hands going to her back, moving lower as he takes a step closer to her.

"Well, you know how you break in a new bed?" She asks and Alec just nods his head as she wraps her arms around his neck, walking backwards towards the counter. "How about we.." Adelaide jumps on the kitchen counter, pulling him with her so her legs wrap around his waist. "Break in our new apartment." She tells him with a smirk before she kisses his deeply. Alec kisses her back, his hands rubbing her thighs. Adelaide moans gently as she squeezes her legs around him, her hand going up the his hair. She feels something drip from her nose making her eyebrows furrow. Adelaide pulls away from the kiss but Alec just moved his lips to her jaw. Adelaide lifts her finger to her nose before pulling it away only to see blood.  "Alec." She says softly, trying to get his attention but Alec only continues to kiss her neck, his hands roaming her thighs. Adelaide could feel the nosebleed get worse as she holds her hand over her nose.  "Alec." She says a little more firmly which gets him to pull away from her.

"Wha-" Alec starts to ask but his eyes widen when he notices the blood. He quickly goes to grab the paper towel off of the counter. "Here." He says as he hands it to the girl who puts it against her nose.

"Shit." She mumbles as she saw how bloody her hand was.

"What is that?" Alec asks as he stares at her, not knowing what to do. Adelaide only raises an eyebrow at him.

"A nosebleed." Adelaide bluntly replies but she knew that wasnt what he meant especially since he glares at her. "I don't know." she admits as she pulls the paper towel away for a moment, noticing the amount of blood. "It's not exactly sexy." She says with a sigh as she puts it back against her nose. Alec smiles as he brushes her hair out of her face.

"You're always sexy." Alec tells her making the girl roll her eyes playfully. "But we gotta figure out what this is." He tells her and she nods her head. She knew they did because she really didn't know what was causing these nosebleeds. She didn't even know what they were a result of.

"I know."

☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎

ADELAIDE SEES ALEC TALKING WITH ISABELLE SO SHE WALKS UP, wrapping her arms around the man from the back. Alec stops talking for a moment, glancing behind him and seeing the girl smiling up at him. Alec gives a slight smile back but when she finally let's him go and stands beside him, she could see the face that Isabelle had.
"

What's going on, why do you both look like somebody just killed Bambi?" Adelaide asks them with an amused tone as she flickers her eyes between the siblings.

"Mom is coming." Isabelle answers her and immediately Adelaide understood why they looked like that. She did like Maryse now but the woman could still be a bit much at times. Adelaide knew it was for a 'family dinner' since that's what it always was before it turned into an interrogation.

"Ooh." Adelaide presses her lips together tightly as she holds onto Alecs hand.

"Yeah." Alec replies before a smirk forms on his face, his eyes drifting down to her. Adelaide meets his eyes, obviously confused on why he was staring at her like that. "But you're gonna be there." He states making her eyes widen, immediately starting to shake her head.

"What? Huh?" Adelaide basically spat out as she was so stunned she could barely even speak.   "No." She says sharply, she was not about to be used as bait so that Isabelle and Alec could avoid their mothers questions.

"Your Alecs girlfriend, you have to be." Isabelle taunts with a smirk playing on her lips as well.

"But it's a family dinner." Adelaide points out but Alec only raises an eyebrow at her.

"If I have to suffer, you do too." Alec replies making her stop moving around, instead just squinting up at the man with a light glare. Of course he was going to bring her words back to haunt her.

"Well played, Lightwood... Well played." Adelaide says as she shakes her head, biting the inside of her cheek as he just smirks down at her.

"So, how's the new place?" Isabelle asks, breaking their intense eye contact. Adelaide turns to the girl, instantly smiling.

"Amazing." She answers as she absolutely loved their apartment and just having her own space in general.

"I bet all that space to yourselves lets you get up to all kinds of activities." Isabelle teases them as she wiggles her eyebrows. Alec looks unimpressed as he glares at the girl.

"Izzy." He says sharply but she only giggles.

"You're really gonna try to deny it?" Isabelle asks as she raises an eyebrow at her brother who blushes lightly, glancing down at the ground. "I know Adelaide can't keep her hands off of you." She points out, gesturing to how Adelaide had her hands on his waist at this very precise moment. Adelaide looks at her hands before basically ripping them from Alecs body.

"There you are." Magnus says, walking into the room which was a miracle to Alec. "Good news, the core is off the ley line grid and free of demonic corruption." He explains to them with a smile on his face.

"That's good news, thank you." Alec says, clearing his throat as he tries to avoid the knowing look that Isabelle was giving him. Magnus flickers his eyes between the group.

"Alrighty then, I'll make myself scarce."  Magnus says with furrowed eyebrows as he could clearly see that something was going on.

"We just got a fire message from mom saying she's 'dropping by' for an impromptu 'family dinner's." Isabelle says, making air quotes with her fingers making Magnus look at her slightly amused.

"Those are a lot of air quotes." He points out making Alec sigh as he shakes his head.

"Mom doesn't just drop by for anything." Alec states as he knew something had to have happened or she wanted to know something, or maybe hell had come to the land of the living, who knows with their mother.

"Yeah, we're thinking it has to do with her and dad. They're officially making their divorce offical." Isabelle explains to the warlock who looked slightly sad for the siblings.

"My condolences." Magnus offers but Isabelle only shakes her head.

"It's for the best." She admits. "Problem is, instead of just being sad like a normal person, she starts trying to fix everyone around her." Isabelle tells him with a roll of her eyes.

"Which includes grilling her own children on everything she thinks is going wrong in their lives." Alec adds with a sigh as he shakes his head. Adelaide only presses her chin to his arm, offering him a smile.

"So, where are you holding this suspenseful dinner?" Magnus asks after a moment of silence.

"Definitely not here." Isabelle says with a scoff as she shakes her head. They learned their lesson from last time.

"The institute tends to bring out her inner inquistor." Alec tells the warlock who only raises an eyebrow before his eyes settle on the couple.

"Didn't you two just get a new place? Which deeply saddens me that you took away my pride and joy." Magnus says, putting his hands on his heart and faking a tear. Adelaide rolls her eyes playfully but she smiles at the man.

"No way. I am not stepping foot in there for at least a week and its been deeply sanitized." Isabelle instantly turns the idea down making Alec look at her with an annoyed expression.

"Izzy." Alec scolds her but she only continues to shake her head. She knew that the two would be having sex everywhere in that apartment so no way in hell was she having a meal there.

"Nope." She denies, standing her ground. Magnus only shakes his head before looking towards the younger Lightwood.

"How about my place?" Magnus offers as he flickers his eyes between the siblings. Isabelles mood lightens, as her eyes widen.

"Magnus, you don't have-" Alec goes to deny, not wanting him to have to go through any trouble.

"I insist. You can have the place all to yourselves." Magnus states with a soft smile on his lips. Isabelle nods her head before she gasps, thinking of something.

"You should be there." Isabelle says and Magnus immediately makes a face, shaking his head as Alec looks towards his sister. "Think about it. If Magnus is there being his usual charming self-" She says, glancing at Magnus as she said it who only smirks as he took the compliment. "Mom won't have time to interrogate us." She states, thinking it was the perfect plan to get through the evening.

"I am charming." Magnus says with a shrug of his shoulders. Adelaide only squints her eyes, she was already going to be there. Why did they need Magnus too?"

"And I'm not?" Adelaide asks with a scoff as she crosses her arms against her chest. Isabelle only rolls her eyes as she glanced at the girl.

"Oh please, she'll interrogate you too."

☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎

ADELAIDE RESTS HER HEAD AGAINST ALEC'S CHEST AS HE WAS STOOD TRYING TO MAKE SOME COFFEE. She pouts as she glanced up at him, poking at his side's to get him to glance down at her. He does, raising an eyebrow at her curiously.
"

Do I really have to be there?" She asks with a groan, she really didn't want to be in the middle of some family drama. She'd already gotten enough of her own so she didn't need to go through the Lightwood's as well.

"Did I really have to be at the warlock party?" Alec retorts, his eyes staying on the coffee mug. Adelaide clenches her jaw, glaring playfully at the man. He really knew how to use his cards right when he wanted to.

"Wouldn't you rather... I don't know. Do something else?" She asks suggestively, gazing up at him as she bites her bottom lip. She moves her hand up from his abs to his shoulder, rubbing slightly.

"My mom would kill me if I didn't show." Alec mutters as he shakes his head and Adelaide just keeps rubbing his shoulder. He looks down at her, his mood instantly lifting. "But we have time now." He tells her and she only giggles as he leans down towards her. But before he can kiss her, her phone is ringing. Adelaide licks her bottom lip as she pulls out her phone.

Raphael

"Hold that thought." Adelaide says with a sigh as she presses accept and puts the phone up to her ear. "Hey, Raph." She answers, brushing her hair behind her ear.

"Adelaide." Raphael replies but she could hear the pain in his voice, something had happened.

"Raphael, is something wrong?" Adelaide asks, her eyebrows furrowing as she looks up at Alec. He gives her a confused look but she only holds up a finger.

"Rosa.. s-she-" Raphael could barely even form a sentence. "She's gone." He states.

"Oh.." Adelaide didn't really know what to say, it was all so sudden. She knew that the woman hadn't been doing very well but she didn't know it would happen this quickly. "Raphael, I am so sorry." She says, her hand resting on her heart as she lets out a soft breath. "Do you want me to come to the DuMort?" Adelaide asks him, wanting to know if he wanted the company. It was never best to be alone during these times.

"No, no. Um.. I just, wanted you to know." Raphael says, his voice breaking and Adelaide could hear the hesitation, he did want her to come but he didn't want to ask.

"Raphael, you shouldn't be alone." She tells him but again the man only denies.

"I-ill be fine." Raphael assures her but she wasn't all too convinced.

"I really am sorry, Raph. If you need anything, I'm here." Adelaide says as if he called or even texted her, she would be there for him in a heartbeat.

"Thank you." And with that, he hung up the phone.

"Is everything okay?" Alec asks as he puts his hand on her shoulder. She moves the phone down, her jaw clenching as she just shakes her head.

"Uh.. no." Adelaide starts as she fiddles with her fingers which made Alec concerned. "His sister died." She says and Alec only lets out a sigh, glancing down at the ground.

"You should go." He tells her and she looks up at him hesitantly. Raphael said he didn't want her there but that's what most people say when they're grieving and don't want to be a burden on others. "Really, go." Alec says as he rubs her arm and she nods her head. She gives him a quick kiss on the cheek before opening up a portal and disappearing right before his eyes.

☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎☠︎︎

ADELAIDE ENTERED THE HOTEL DUMORT, luckily the vampire at the door had let her in since most of the time they would never allow shadowhunters inside. She sighs as she makes her way to where Raphael was, the vampire had told her that he was in the living room on the top floor. She walks into the room, seeing Raphael on the couch, his head in his hands and she could hear his soft cries.

She really did feel horrible for the vampire. Adelaide couldn't even imagine having to watch everyone you love grow old and die. But I guess she didn't have to imagine it anymore since that's what was going to happen to her. She would still have Magnus, but she'd eventually lose everyone else.

Because time will go by so quickly, because you think you have forever but you don't. One blink and everything you love is gone. But the feeling of being scared of it is good, because it means that you still have something left to lose.

"Oh, Raphael." She says softly, making his head rise. Raphael meets her eyes and she could see just how broken he was. But of course he tried to hide it. Raphael sniffles, wiping his eyes as he stands up from the couch.

"You didn't have to come." Raphael tells her and she makes her way over to him. Adelaide shakes her head, grabbing a hold of his hand.

"I wanted to." She tells him, just staring up at the vampire. Raphael was one of the first people she knew she could vulnerable around. In fact, after Nick, he was only the second person to ever see her cry. Before, Magnus had been the only one. But being vulnerable with Raphael, gave him the sense that he could do the same with her. So, he didn't try to force his tears away, he didn't try to hide. He just shook his head as he squeezed his eyes shut. "Come here." Adelaide pulls the man into a hug, Raphael immediately wrapping his arms around her tightly. He cried in her arms, the sound of his pain made her eyes tear up aswell.

"S-shes just gone." Raphael stutters out, his voice breaking and Adelaide only closes her eyes. She let her hand rub soothingly on his back.

"It's okay." She assures him, although that was just something people said to try and make it all seem okay. But it wasnt. Nothing would ever be okay again. Because when you lose someone, every prayer, every candle, every 'im sorry' you get from people who really don't give a fuck, is not going to make up for the fact that the only thing to have left, is a hole in your life where that someone you cared about used to be. Nothing could ever fill that void, no matter how much you tried. There would still be a little crack and even two decades down the line, you would still feel the pain from that loss. Adelaide opens her eyes, seeing Isabelle at the doorway. She just gives a slight wave, pain in her eyes as she watched Raphael cry in Adelaide's arms. "Iz." She says softly, catching Raphael's attention. The vampire pulls away from her, turning around, his body freezing when he sees Isabelle.

"Oh." He just says softly, his mouth parted. Isabelle only shakes her head as she walks over to him, quickly enveloping him in a hug.

"Raphael, I am so sorry." Isabelle says as the vampire hugs her back after a moment. Adelaide softly smile, meeting Raphael's eyes.

"Ill leave you two alone." She says softly as she rubs Raphaels back before heading out of the hotel room, leaving Raphael in Isabelle's arms.
