ADELAIDE RESTED AGAINST THE COUCH AS SHE LOOKED OVER AT ALEC, the man just sat at his desk. She knew she had to tell him. Adelaide just didnt know how to do it. Alec would be angry with her, especially since she didnt tell him right away. But she feared that jace would say something without meaning to and that would cause everything to come crashing down. Adelaide didnt want to lose Alec, she was terrifed.

Being so deep in her thought, she didnt even realize that Alec had met her gaze. "What?" She hears him ask causing her vision to become clear and her eyes to be gazing into his. Alec had slight amusement in his gaze but he was also curious as to why she was just staring at him.

Adelaide places a smile on her lips as she gets up from the chair. "Can't I just admire my fiance?" She asks him as she makes her way over. Alec turns his chair, allowing her to straddle his waist, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"I love that word." Alec responds with a smile, tilting his head. He leans forward, pressing a soft kiss to her lips. Adelaide sighs as she strokes his cheek, leaning against the man. The kiss lasts for a few more seconds before she ultimately pulls away from him.

"Alec, uh, can we talk?" She asks him hesitantly. Adelaide felt her heart start to race as his eyes locked on her once again.

"About what? Is everything okay?" Alec asks her, concern in his tone as his hands squeezed her hips lightly. Adelaide forces the smile back onto her face as she nods her head.

"Yeah, of course it is." Adelaide assures him, not wanting to worry him but she knew that was a given. Alec would worry and he would most likely be angry with her. "I just..." She trails off for a moment, closing her eyes. Adelaide couldn't bring herself to say it.

How could you say; I'm connected to Lilith and can't figure out a way to get rid of it so if we do try and kill her, I will die as well. Sorry that I didn't tell you but I didn't want to lose you but I fear thats gonna happen anyways.

Like, how does that come out so easily? "Hey, what is it?" Alec questions, growing with more worry as he tried to get her to look at him. Adelaide clears her throat, shaking her head.

"Nothing." She denies, backing out, mainly because of fear. "Just forget I said anything." Adelaide says, looking away from him. Alec frowns as he furrows his eyebrows a bit.

"Adelaide, I can tell that there's something you're not telling me." Alec points out, nudging her chin with his finger so that she looked back at him. Adelaide meets his gaze, her hand stroking his cheek.

"I just love you so much." She responds, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek. Alec was a bit confused why she suddenly changed the subject.

"I love you too." He tells her slowly, narrowing his eyes. "Are you sure there's nothing you wanted to say?" Alec questions, sensing that she wanted to get something off her chest but she wasn't budging.

"I'm sure, Alec."

"You would tell me if something was wrong, right?" Alec asks, furrowing his eyebrows and she nods her head.

"Of course." Adelaide states, feeling horrible for lying to him but she couldn't help it. She didn't want to hurt him. She leans in, pressing a kiss to his lips. Alec kisses her back but pulls away after a moment.

"I have to finish this paperwork." Alec tells her, his head turning toward his desk but she just moves it back to her, roughly connecting their lips.

"Do you?" She asks as she pulls back slightly, her hand moving down his chest and landing on his pants. Alec adjusts himself slightly but the woman straddling his waist really stopped him from moving too much.

"Adelaide." He warns, his eyes moving to where she was palming him. Adelaide giggles as she bites her bottom lip.

"Alec." She teases him as she undoes his belt. He didn't make any actual effort to stop her, just watching as she slid her hand beneath his pants. Alec grunts as he feels her make contact with his dick. She wraps her hand around him, jerking her hand up and down very slowly.

Alec tilts his head back, his eyes closing for a second. Adelaide fastens her pace, making sure to grind down on him as well. She could see his face contort into one of pleasure as a long moan leaves his lips. A smirk forms on her lips as she runs her finger along the tip, causing his hips to jolt up. Adelaide moves in her position in order to hold him down a bit. His moans were already getting desperate and she could tell that he was very pent up.

But as her lips go to place a heated kiss on Alecs, the man kissing her back sloppily, she hears the door to the office open. "Alec, can i--" Jace stops mid sentence when he sees the couple. His eyebrows raise as the two were mid kiss when he came in but he didnt miss the gruntled moan that left alec. Adelaide pulls back from alec, her head turning to look at the blonde. Alecs eyes had snapped open but mainly because he felt Adelaide still stroking him roughly. "Oh, didnt mean to interrupt." He says, a small smirk on his lips. Alec grabs Adelaides hand, moving it from its position within his pants.

Alec had turned a deep shade of red and it didn't help that Jace was smirking over at him. "You didn't um..." Alec could barely lie seeing as Jace practically walked in when Adelaide was jerking him off. "What did you need?" He asks, just wanting the man to say what he needed to say. But Jace shakes his head.

"To talk to you but I can see your occupied." Jace points out, a loud laugh leaving his lips. Adelaide presses her lips together tightly as she leant back against Alec who had a hardened glare set on his face.

"Jace." Alec warns but the blonde just keeps laughing as he turns to the door, exiting the room. Adelaide had her face in the crook of Alecs neck and she could feel the man let out a long sigh. She pulls back, giggling lightly and he just shakes his head, but a small smile forms on his lips.

Alec brings her close, holding her against him as he rests his head on top of hers.

WALKING DOWN THE HALL, Adelaide runs a hand through her hair. She shouldve told alec when she could, but she chickened out. Adelaide was just worried he'd have enough of her lies and call of their engagement. "Did Alec find his relief?" She hears from beside her and as she turns her head, she saw Jace with a lingering smirk on his lips. Rolling her eyes, Adelaide hits his shoulder.

"Shut up, dumbass." She retorts as she shakes her head. Jace doesn't stop though as he wraps an arm around adelaides shoulder.

"I forgot how vocal he was." Jace points out, pulling her against him. Adelaide clenches her jaw, narrowing her eyes in the slightest as she glances up at the blonde man.

"Keep going and we'll make sure to do it in your bed." Adelaide warns, knowing Alec would be hesitant until he heard how Jace was teasing him. Jace's face turns into one of disgust as he meets her gaze.

"Don't do that." He pleads. He wouldn't be able to think about anything else while in his room.

"Then stop talking." She retorts, raising an eyebrow. Jace groans but nods his head.

"Fine." He grumbles,ย  crossing his arms against his chest. Jace noticed how she seemed to be within her own thoughts. "What's up with you? I thought you'd be less rigid." Jace points out, wondering what had gotten her so riled up.

"Jonathan is still out there." Adelaide states the obvious. It seemed like Jonathan was taunting her even though he was no where to be found.

"And we'll find him." Jace assures her. Adelaide bites the inside of her cheek as her eyes move to the ground.

"Well, I already did." She admits which makes Jace widen his eyes as he looks at her. Surely he would've heard about if they had captured him.

"What?" Jace asks, his voice loud. "Where is he?" He questions, glancing around the institute.

"He's gone now." Adelaide tells him, not really wanting to get his hopes up as she didn't actually defeat him. Jace clenches his jaw, sighing a bit.

"You couldn't have started with that?" He retorts, raising his eyebrows. Adelaide leans against the wall, bringing her hands up to her face and rubbing it slightly.

"I was so close Jace. So close to killing him." She states, hating the fact that Lilith had practically let him go. Adelaide got that it was going to kill her, she just wished she had done it fast enough so thar Lilith wasn't able to stop her.

"What happened?" Jace asks, a bit confused on what she was really talking about.

"Lilith."

"Lilith? But she's down in Edom. The rift is closed." He points out, there was no way that Lilith would be able to just stop her. Especially since she was physically down in Edom.

"Well, turns out she can still interact with me." Adelaide points out with a slight groan, finding all of it quite annoying.

"Wait, she stopped you?" Jace asks her, furrowing his eyebrows. "Why would she do that?" He would think that Lilith would want to get rid of Jonathan as well.

"I don't know, okay?" Adelaide lies. She didnt want to add to the fire by telling jace that she wouldve died if she had killed jonathan. "But she did and I'm royally pissed." She admits, crossing her arms.

"We need to get rid of her." Jace states, hating how the woman still had control.

"How?"

"We'll find a way." Jace assures her, he wasn't about to let anything happen to her. He knew Alec would never recover.

"Can we just not talk about this right now?" Adelaide asks with a sigh, just wanting to take her mind off of it, if even just for one second.

"Have you told Alec?" Jace asks, looking down at her. But by the way alec hadnt come to him and ranted about it, it was safe to say that he was still in the dark. "Adelaide, you have to." He points out, she couldn't just allow Alec to find out if something bad happened.

"I will." She responds, crossing her arms against her chest and Jace just narrows his eyes.

"When?" Jace asks her. Adelaide could only scoff. She knew she told him but he didn't have to be pushing it in her face every two seconds. Adelaide would tell Alec when told him. It wasn't as easy as Jace was making it seem.

"When I'm ready, Jace." Adelaide snaps at him with a glare before moving past the man. She got that Jace was just trying to look out for Alec but he couldn't just push her to tell him. Adelaide had to do it on her own terms. Because she wanted to make sure she didn't lose him.

Although it seemed that had already sailed.

AS SHE WALKS OVER TO THE GROUP, adelaide only heard the last thing that Simon had said. "Great, hugs for everybody else." He mumbles, seemingly disgruntled by something. Her eyebrow raises as she wondered what had gotten him in such a mood. Stopping beside them, she gives them a smile.

"Izzy, hey." She says, her hand moving to touch the arm of the woman next to her but Izzy practically jumps away. Adelaide was shocked for a second, looking around the group. "Do I have a disease or something?" Adelaide asks, not understanding why izzy just totally avoided her.

"No, you guys.. it.." isabelle trails off, a sigh leaving her lips. "The heavenly fire from when the sword exploded, until it leaves my system. I can't touch anyone with demon blood." She explains to them. Adelaide nodded her head, stepping back a little bit.

"For how long? Days, weeks, months?" Simon asks, annoyed which caused Adelaide to look at him curiously. Her eyes flicker between the two.

"I don't know but I'm gonna be fine, okay? It's manageable." Isabelle assures them, not wanting them to worry about her. Jace seemed to be just as suspicious as he narrows his eyes at Simon.

"What is going on here?" Jace asks, gesturing between the two. Alec seemed to clench his jaw at the question.

"Isabelle and Simon were kissing when this happened." Alec points out, clearly pissed off about it as well. Adelaide raises her eyebrows, amusement in her eyes.

"What?" Jace asks, his voice full of venom as he glared in front of him.

"Seriously?" Adelaide asks, a smirk forming on her lips. "Get some, Iz." She teases the woman who presses her lips together tightly. She then noticed the way Alec and Jace were staring at her. "What?" She asks, furrowing her eyebrows.

"Do not tell my sister to get some." Alec denies, not really wanting to think of Isabelle and Simon being together. Adelaide only crosses her arms against her chest.

"You're getting plenty, why not her?" Adelaide retorts, raising her eyebrows. She saw the way alecs eyes widened and his cheeks turned a rosy red. Isabelle just shakes her head, laughing underneath her breath.

"Please tell me you have a lead on Jonathan." Isabelle says, changing the subject, more so that Jace and Alec don't completely attack Simon.

"Yeah. We uh, tracked down a mid level demon known for associating with the clave on wall street. He didn't have any information on jonathan." Jace explains to them, his eyes still being a bit cautious toward Simon.

"But he did have news on Lilith." Clary points out.

"What kind of news?" Alec asks them curiously.

"She's gathering an army to take down magnus." Clary tells them and Adelaide just lets out a sigh. She couldn't allow Magnus to be harmed, he did everything for her and she would now do everything for him

"And if she does, the rift will reopen." Jace states making every just process the news. Adelaide knew that if the rift reopened it would be almost impossible to close it again. They couldn't let that happen. They couldn't let Lilith be in control.

"I don't understand, how is Lilith able to come between worlds?" Jace mutters underneath his breath. He understood she was connected to Adelaide, but surely that wasn't enough to give her a physical presence over here. Adelaide snaps her head toward him, her jaw clenching. He meets her eyes, a bit confused until he realized that he had said it out loud.

"What are you talking about?" Alec asks, furrowing his eyebrows as he didnt get what the man meant. His eyes move to adelaide who just wanted to punch jace. "Adelaide?" He questions and Adelaide couldn't stop herself from glaring at Jace.

"Lilith stopped me from killing Jonathan." Adelaide admits and everyone stares at her in shock. Alec was even more confused.

"How?"

"I don't know."

"Do you know something?" Alec asks her, pushing her into saying what she had in her mind. But Adelaide just shakes her head.

"I don't know anything, Alec." Adelaide lies with a sigh, crossing her arms. "But it looks like she can only jump whenever my magic is at its most potent." She states, not wanting to give too much away but it seemed like Alec was getting suspicious.

"She can also communicate with her." Jace points out and if looks could kill... that boy would be six feet under by now.

"You can communicate with Lilith?" Alec asks her as Adelaide just clenches her fists together.

"Do I want to? No." She mumbles with a sigh, rubbing her face. Adelaide knew Alec wanted to ask more but decided to get back on track.

"He sacrificed everything to save us. If he's going up against Lilith, we have to be there for him." Alec states. He wasn't about to let Adelaide lose Magnus, especially after all he's done to help them.

"Alec, you know if any of us went to Edom, we'd die instantly." Clary points out, not seeing where his logic was.

"The atmosphere is demonic. But maybe I can go. Me and Adelaide. She has demon blood. And my heavenly fire might protect me." Isabelle explains, wanting to do something, anything to help.

"No, no. Only someone with demon blood can survive there." Alec points out.

"Then let me go alone." Adelaide says, she could take out Lilith, she just needed the right motivation. And with Magnus' help, it wouldn't be a problem.

"You're not going anywhere without backup." Alec denies, shaking his head.

"I'll have Magnus." She points out, it wasn't like she would be completely alone down there but it didn't seem like Alec was listening to her.

"Simon." Alec says, looking over at the vampire. Adelaide scoffs, narrowing her eyes.

"Seriously, Simon instead of me?" Adelaide asks him, her eyes going over to simon. " No offense." She says with a shrug and he just shakes his head.

"I don't have my mark anymore but I'm sure if you give me enough swords, maybe I can-" Simon goes to say but Alec cuts him off.

"No. I need you to turn me into a vampire so that I can go." He tells the man. Adelaides eyes were like saucers at this point, looking at Alec like he had gone insane which, apparently he had.

"Are you out of your mind?" Isabelle asks him with a scoff.

"No way." Adelaide denies, she wasn't about to let her fiance become a vampire just to go into Edom.

"Alec, we can find another way." Isabelle assures him.

"What way? Huh?" Alec asks, his voice booming as he looks at his sister. "Cause I'm not sending my fiance down to be killed." He points out, gesturing toward Adelaide. She knew he was just trying to protect her but she could handle herself. It wasn't like she had much to lose anyways.

"If I go, me and Magnus together can defeat Lilith." Adelaide states but she could see Alec was already going to say no. He would never willingly allow her to put her own life at risk.

"Adelaide, no."

"You're acting like it's impossible." She mutters with a scoff, moving a bit away from the group. Jace follows after her, pulling her out of earshot from the others.

"Do you not remember that if Lilith dies you do too?" Jace asks her, his voice hushed. "If Magnus kills her, if you do..." He trails off, not even wanting to think about it. "You're as good as dead." He points out and she just shrugs her shoulders.

"What do you expect I do? Just let her kill Magnus and reopen the rift?" Adelaide asks him. She was not about to let Magnus die or Lilith to be back on earth.

"I don't know what to do, okay!" Jace shouts toward her, earning looks from the people around them. Adelaide clenches her jaw as she just stares back at him. She understood where he was coming from, he just needed to let her do this alone.

But what she didn't realize was that Alec had also heard the commotion and was now staring at her and Jace with a rather puzzled expression.

ADELAIDE KNOCKS ON THE DOOR OF ISABELLE'S BEDROOM. The raven haired woman glances over as Adelaide makes her way into the room. "Iz." She says with a smile but Isabelle could already tell that she was needing something. Izzy crosses her arms against her chest.

"Hey."

"We need to talk." Adelaide admits as she walks over to the woman. Isabelle looks at her curiously, tilting her head.

"About what?" She asks, although she had a feeling she already knew where this was going.

"We need to go stop Lilith." Adelaide tells her as she stops right in front of the woman.

"You mean, go to Edom?" Isabelle asks, furrowing her eyebrows. She had thought if it herself but it was clear that Adelaide didn't mean the whole group.

"Yes."

"Alec will kill me if he found out i took you." She points out with a sigh. Adelaide just places her hands on her hips.

"You want to go by yourself?" Adelaide asks her and she could still see Isabelles hesitancy. "Iz, I'm the best shot we have." She points out. If she could almost kill jonathan, she could do some damage to Lilith.

"Maybe I can kill her with the heavingly fire." Isabelle suggests, she wasn't exactly useless. Lilith was a demon and right now, she could hurt them.

"Okay, but you still need someone to hold her so she doesn't rip your head off." Adelaide points out. Isabelle stares at her, knowing that she was referring to herself.

"I don't know." Isabelle mumbles, if Alec found out she asked his fiance to go to the depths of hell with her... well it wouldn't go over lightly.

"Well, I'm not letting you go down there alone." She states.

"Says the girl who said 'I have Magnus, I'll be okay'." Isabelle points out, lifting her eyebrow. Adelaide knew she was trying to find humor in the situation but she just shakes her head.

"This isn't a discussion." She denies and Isabelle clenches her jaw. A sigh leaves her lips as she brushes her hair out of her face.

"Fine, we'll go together." Isabelle states, knowing adelaide wasnt exactly going to take no as an answer. "Are you sure you don't want to talk to Alec?" She asks, she knew her brother would kill both of them once he found out they went to Edom.

"Do you?" Adelaide retorts, crossing her arms. Isabelle was hesitant but her brother would surely lock them up in order to stop them.

"No..."

"Then let's do it." Adelaide says as she looks toward izzie. She could tell that the woman was still slightly reluctant but knew that it was the best course of action. It kept the most people from getting hurt.

"Let's go down to Edom."
