Maggie flattened her dress out as she looked at herself in the full length mirror that was in the corner of her bedroom. She inhaled deeply, trying to calm her nerves for the 'date' because even though she was expecting it to go horrifically wrong, she couldn't help the nerves that swarmed her stomach.
The doorbell rang, echoing loudly through maggie's small flat which interrupted her from her thoughts.
She grabbed her small handbag in addition to her phone and keys before heading to the door of her flat where she saw none other than ben, the guy she had met at the Vardy household only a few weeks ago.H
"Maggie." Ben breathed out. He was in a state of utter shock at how beautiful she looked. He knew that she had natural beauty, he wasn't an idiot but he thought that she had enhanced that natural beauty exceptionally well.
"Ben, nice to see you." The brunette girl gave him a polite smile as she locked up her flat, not that she had anything worth stealing but it was never worth the risk.
She figured that like herself, Rebekah hadn't told the tall defender who he was supposed to be taking to the awards night. It was a surprise.
"Shall we go or do you want to stare just a little longer?" Maggie raised her perfectly shaped eyebrows at the brunette boy in front of her who was gawking at her.
"Sorry, you just look so beautiful." He admitted as he jogged to catch up with her since she had left him standing on her front doorstep, bored of waiting for him to get his act together.
"Yeah, yeah. Thanks but let's go pretty boy before we're late to your event." The pair walked at a brisk pace to get to ben's very expensive car before they drove off towards the venue in complete silence.
***
"So, what do you do?" Ben asked the girl that had accompanied him to his event, trying to break through the awkward silence because despite thinking that they would be late, the pair were the first to show up since ben had failed to realise that the awards night had been pushed back an hour. This meant that instead of starting at six, it would be starting at seven.
"I'm fresh out of uni and I don't really know what I want to do but I've always seen myself working in a mirror factory." Maggie was blunt. She didn't like being blunt towards people that showed her kindness but she couldn't help it. She didn't know why they were being kind to her. She couldn't trust them.
"Oh, that's... interesting." The brunette boy tried his best to seem supportive because he didn't want to crush her dreams but at the same time, it seemed like a very odd occupation to him.
"Ben, I'm going to let you in on a little secret." She motioned for him to come closer to her, using her index finger and she watched as he leaned forward, a confused expression crossing on his face.
"I don't actually want to work in a mirror factory. It was a joke. A very bad joke but a joke all the same. Humour is my defence mechanism. I use it to deflect when I feel like people are getting too close." Ben listened carefully to Maggie's words. He figured from those words that she had been hurt at some point in her life and he wanted to know who would do such a thing to a person. He didn't know Maggie well, in fact, he knew very little about her. He only knew her first name but he knew that if the Vardy family were so involved in her life then that meant that she was a good person.
"I'll let you in on a little secret too: I work hard. That also means that I don't give up so Maggie whatever your last name is, I will prove to you that not all humans are bad. Some of us are actually good people." He gave her a small smile and he felt a small amount of accomplishment when she smiled back at him, her white teeth shining against her olive skin.
"Montez. My last name is Montez." Those were the last words that Maggie spoke to Ben before Rebekah and Jamie showed up, gushing about how good they both looked alone and together, causing Ben's cheeks to flush a little since he had taken a liking to the girl in such a small amount of time.
Ben chilwell was determined for Maggie Montez to let him adore her.
a/n: i love these two so much! i feel like ben not realising the start time of an event changing is something that he would do in real life.
