It had been weeks since the get together at James Maddison's house and neither Maggie nor Ben had spoken about it. In fact, things had gotten awkward between them both and they avoided each other any chance they could. It was painful to watch which is why Rebekah and Jamie Vardy had devised a plan.

Going into her second day of work as Leicester's new junior physiotherapist was nerve wracking for Maggie. She had managed perfectly fine yesterday but she was still finding her feet and hoped that she wouldn't mess up since everyone already knew her as Valentina's daughter.

Valentina was a well respected lady around the club. She was one of their first female physios and was certainly the best. She had a reputation and every player with an injury, big or small, would be lining up outside her door to see her. when she died, the club was devastated by the loss but now that they had Maggie, they felt like Valentina's great work could be continued.

"You've done well today, kid. I need to head off early for a family event so I'll trust you to put everything away." Neil, the club's senior physiotherapist slapped Maggie on the back, almost knocking all of the wind out of her. She thanked Neil for helping her again before watching as he left the treatment room.

Maggie grabbed the disinfectant spray and started to wipe down the treatment bed, making sure that it was clean of any bacteria, sweat or blood to ensure the safety of whoever was going to use it next.

"Neil, I was- oh, hi Maggie. I can come back later." Maggie spun around at the sound of Ben's voice. She was tempted to run up and hug him but they hadn't spoken in weeks so she didn't feel like it was appropriate, even if she did miss him.

Before either one of them had a chance to say anything, they heard the door slam shut and the click of the lock.

"You're not coming out until you clear the air!" The brunette girl groaned at the voice of Jamie Vardy, immediately becoming irritated by him.

"We're not in one of your chick flicks or romance novels, Jamie! Let us out!" She pounded her fist on the wooden door but she heard nothing, not even the sound of Jamie's protests, denying that he watched chick flicks or read romance novels.

"Maybe he's right, Maggie. We've been avoiding each other for over a week now. We need to talk about what happened." Ben sighed, running his hand through his un-styled hair, the way that Maggie liked it the best.

"What's there to talk about? It was a mistake. Simple as that." She shrugged her shoulders, trying to make herself busy again but she stopped when she felt large hands on her waist, spinning her around.

It hurt Ben when Maggie told him it was a mistake but he didn't believe her. He didn't believe her because she had a tell too. Her right eyebrow quirked when she told a lie and that's exactly what it did when she said those words to him.

"Was it a mistake or are you just running again?" His face was close to hers and she could feel his breath fanning her face, making her knees slightly weak.

"I'm going to kiss you again. If you push me away, I'll know that it was a mistake but if you kiss me back, I'll know that you want this just as much as me." The warning made Maggie think. Did she want this? Did she want to risk giving this a shot and getting her heartbroken later? Or did she want to give this a shot and maybe things will work out well for her and Ben?

Her thoughts were immediately interrupted by the familiar feeling of Ben's lips on her owns. they were exactly as she remembered; soft but this time there was no taste of alcohol.

Without any hesitation, Maggie kissed him back, their lips moving perfectly in sync. She allowed her hands to travel up his toned body which she could feel under the material of his shirt and up to the back of his neck where she played with his hair. Feeling him groan into the kiss, she smiled and let him push her onto the treatment bed. he crawled on top of her, not letting his lips break away from hers.

It was an intense make-out session and eventually, Maggie had to pull away for some air.

"It wasn't a mistake." The tanned girl admitted as ben tucked a piece of hair that had fallen from her ponytail, behind her ear.

"I know. You have a tell." He gave her a smile and Maggie felt her heart flutter. She didn't know what was wrong with her but she leaned up and pressed her lips to his again.

"Can't get enough?" Ben teased, watching as Maggie's cheeks turned a shade of pink.

"Let me take you on a date." The pair sat up from the treatment table and Maggie watched as Ben turned serious.

"Are we going to people watch again?" She laughed, her hand cupping his face and stroking his cheek with her thumb.

"No, unless you want to." She shook her head before looking up at him again.

"Ben, I don't mind. I've realised that the happiest I've been since my mum died is when I'm with you." Maggie's voice was soft as she spoke and Ben couldn't help the smile that appeared on her face after she said that.

"Let me help you tidy up and then we can go. Vards gave you a lift, didn't he?" Maggie nodded, realising that Jamie was well and truly gone by this point.

"How do we get out if he's got the key?" Maggie panicked, causing Ben to laugh at the smaller girl.

"He never locked the door to begin with. You and Neil are the only ones with keys to the door. He played a sound through YouTube." Ben explained and Maggie couldn't believe that she had been outsmarted by her own friend.

"And you knew this all along?" Maggie was in disbelief and Ben nodded as he grabbed a hold of her waist.

"Yes and I don't regret not telling you because now I can do this." The brunette boy leaned down and pressed his lips to hers once again, the kiss only ending due to their grins.

"Let's go, bub." Ben took hold of Maggie's hand as he said those words, Maggie blushing at the pet name.

For the first time in what felt like forever, Maggie Montez felt truly happy and content with her life but she was nervous. Life had to balance itself at some point. It couldn't all be good. Something bad had to happen and she didn't know when it would come.

a/n: neil is entirely fictional as far as i'm concerned because i have no idea who the physios at leicester are and is junior physiotherapist even a real job? who knows! but this is fiction so it doesn't matter lol.

if you could work at a football club, what role do you think you would most likely have?
i would probably work in the club shop because i am amazing at folding football tops.
