The chatter in the dining hall was loud when Evangeline entered. She glanced around the hall in search of a familiar face. The first person she saw was Lavender, who was glaring murderously at her. Evangeline rolled her eyes before looking away. Her eyes traveled down the Slytherin table until she spotted her sister.

She made her way to where Vivian was sat, bypassing the Gryffindor table. Ron watched her walk past, his eyes not leaving her form even when she sat down across from her sister. Harry looked to where Ron was looking before turning back to his friend. "You two still haven't talked?" He asked.

Ron shook his head. "I can't help but think that she's upset with me," he replied, looking down at the table.

"She's not. She just needs a little more time to process everything, that's all," Hermione said.

"What's there to process? She knows the truth and they should be back together by now," Harry said. Hermione kicked his leg under the table and he yelped.

"Girls don't think the same way that boys do. We actually use our brains to think," Hermione said.

"So, how are you?" Vivian asked.

Evangeline narrowed her eyes, "Did you take the letters that Ronald sent me?"

Vivian's eyes widened. "W-what? No," she answered.

"You're lying," Evangeline said.

Vivian sighed, "Okay, okay. I did. One came a week before Christmas and and I got it before you could see it and I threw it away because I was afraid of what it said. The other one came before the Death Eaters arrived."

"And what did you do with that one?" Evangeline asked.

"Threw it away as well," Vivian answered. She gave Evangeline a sheepish smile and Evangeline glared. "I'm sorry. I just didn't want you to get your hopes up and then be disappointed or something," Vivian said.

"If you had given me the first letter, I would've found out that Lavender was feeding a love potion to Ron," Evangeline pointed out.

"Oops?" Vivian said. Evangeline rolled her eyes. "I'm really sorry. But look on the bright side, now you know," Vivian added. Evangeline looked her up and down and Vivian sent her a sheepish smile. "Have you guys talked yet?" Vivian asked.

"No," Evangeline replied. She grabbed a plate and placed it in front of her.

"And why not?" Vivian questioned.

Evangeline shrugged her shoulders. "Ang, why are you avoiding him? You have to talk to him at some point," Vivian said.

"I'm not avoiding him. I'm just taking time to gather my thoughts," Evangeline replied.

Vivian scoffed, "Time to gather your thoughts? Oh, come on." Evangeline looked down at the plate in front of her.

"Look, I'm just a little reluctant to jump back into a relationship with him. I mean, can you blame me? I know that what happened wasn't his fault and I shouldn't be feeling this way but I, I can't help it. I'm scared, Viv. I know it sounds stupid and I know that Ronald wouldn't intentionally hurt me. But I can't help but think that somehow, he will," Evangeline explained. Vivian reached across the table and grabbed one of Evangeline's hands.

"It's not stupid. This is your first relationship and you went through your first heartbreak. This reluctance seems normal to me. But, I still think that you should talk to him," she said.

Evangeline nodded her head and sighed. "You're right," she said.

Vivian smiled, "I always am."

Professor McGonagall approached the girls.

"Ladies, Professor Dumbledore would like to see you in his office," the woman told them. Evangeline furrowed her eyebrows and stood. Vivian stood as well and the two made their way out of the Great Hall.

The walk to Professor Dumbledore's office was filled with questions. Neither girl knew why they were being called to it. When they reached the door, Evangeline was the one to knock. Professor Dumbledore beckoned them to enter.  Evangeline pushed the door open and the two walked in. They walked to where the man was sat. Remus was sat across from him.

Both men stood when they saw the girls approaching. "Good afternoon ladies," Professor Dumbledore greeted.

"Professor. What's going on?" Evangeline said. Professor Dumbledore looked to Remus before looking back to the girls.

"I'll leave you three to talk," he replied with a smile. He exited his office.

Evangeline walked over to Remus and pulled him into a hug. When she pulled away, Vivian did the same. The three sat down and the questions began. "What are you doing here?" Evangeline asked.

"We needed to talk," Remus answered.

"What about?" Vivian asked next.

"It's time that I tell you guys the truth," he said.

"The truth about what?" Evangeline asked growing concerned. Remus sighed and ran a hand down his face.

"Your parents' deaths," he said quietly. Evangeline's breath hitched in her throat. She digested his words before sending him a questioning look, too confused to talk.

"The Death Eaters didn't just kill your parents because they refused to join them. Your parents knew something. Something that the Death Eaters wanted to know. Something they needed to know," he began.

"Which was what?" Evangeline asked.

"They knew that Voldemort would successfully be brought back. They knew that there would be another war and they knew who would win," Remus answered.

Evangeline was struggling to wrap her head around all of this information.

"H-how, how would they know that?" Vivian asked.

"Your mother, she was a woman of many talents. Sometimes, she could see things," he answered.

"What do you mean, 'see things'? Like, the future or something?" Evangeline questioned in confusion.

"Something like that," Remus replied.

Evangeline gave him a look of annoyance at the vagueness of his answers and he sighed.

"It's not that simple. She'd have visions. Sometimes it was of the future, other times, it was something else. She never really went into the details of what she saw," he explained. The two girls let the information sink in for a while. Remus watched them, trying to deduct what they were thinking.

"Okay, so, who wins the war?" Evangeline finally asked. He sighed again and shook his head.

"I don't know. She wouldn't tell me," he replied.

"But she told our dad?" Vivian asked.

"No. She accidentally showed him whenever she saw it. She could do that sometimes," he answered.

Evangeline rested her head in her hands. "My head hurts," she mumbled.

"I know this is a lot to take in," he said.

"Understatement of the year," Vivian muttered.

"None of this makes sense," Evangeline added.

"Why are you even telling us this?" Vivian asked after a while. Remus looked at Evangeline.

"Because of the Death Eater attack and the fact that you, Evangeline, had a feeling that something would happen," he answered.

He paused for breath before continuing, "And I think they came after you two because they think that one of you had this same gift that your mother had," he continued.

"Why didn't they come before?" Evangeline asked.

"Because before, they had their hooks in you. Archibald and Matilda were gonna make you Death Eaters. And if either of you could do what Eliana could do, they could use you. Now, they can't and they don't like that very much," Remus said.

"Do they know now?" Vivian asked.

"I'm not sure. They might speculate but they don't have proof. Which means they might come back. But don't worry, Dora and I are staying alert and protected," Remus answered.

"And I need you two to do the same. Stick together," he continued.

Evangeline and Vivian looked at one another. Evangeline turned back to Remus. "I didn't have a vision though, it was just a bad feeling," Evangeline reminded him.

"It might just be a less vivid version of your mother's abilities but nonetheless, your feeling amounted to something," he replied before shaking his head. "I'm not a hundred percent sure you'll even get visions," he admitted.

"Why do you say that?" She asked.

"Your mother began seeing this stuff when she was a kid. You've never shown any indication of having this power. Neither of you have. And all of a sudden, it just appears. I can't help but think—" He stopped himself and Evangeline rose her eyebrows.

"Think what?" She asked.

He sighed, "That maybe it wasn't you. That maybe, your mother somehow warned you."

The next moment of silence was a long one.

"Is that even possible?" Vivian asked.

"I don't know what's possible or not anymore," Remus answered honestly. Evangeline was still trying to wrap her head around everything.

"Listen you two, I know I dropped a bomb on you and I'm sorry. But I need you guys to be prepared. To be ready. You needed to know this and sooner is better than later," he said.

He stood up from his chair. "I have to go now. Dora wants me to help her with wedding planning," he said, rolling his eyes. "How she can think about planning our wedding at a time like this is beyond me."

Vivian shrugged, "Maybe she's trying to distract herself from all of this. You can't blame her for that. I'd do the same thing if we're being honest."

She then stood up to give the man a hug. Evangeline slowly got to her feet and did the same once Vivian had pulled away. "You and Tonks stay safe, got it?" She said. Remus nodded his head. Evangeline pulled away and sighed.

"We'll finish this discussion soon. And I'll answer any more questions that you might have to the best of my ability," he said. The two girls nodded and he walked over to Dumbledore's chimney.

"Now, get to class."

Evangeline was glaring over at Harry so hard, he began squirming in his seat. The Potter boy was an idiot. An absolute and complete idiot. He almost killed someone. I mean, sure it was Malfoy and what not, but still. Even jerks like him don't deserve to die so young.

Harry knew that what he had done was wrong and he regretted it instantly. It's not like he knew what the spell would do. But, he shouldn't have used it for that very reason.

Ginny stood from where she was sat and moved to sit next to Harry. Hermione, who was sitting next to Ron, was staring intensely at them. "You have to get rid of it. Today," Ginny told him. He nodded his head and stood, picking up the textbook. Ginny stood as well and the two exited the common room.

Hermione released a breath. After another beat of silence she stood. "I gotta go meet Aldon. We're gonna go over a few things before the next Apparition class," she said. Evangeline looked up at her as she stood. "See you two later," she said before quickly leaving the room.

Evangeline watched her go before sighing. "I should go too. I've got a lot of stuff to do," she said, standing up and turning in the direction of the girl's dorms.

"Wait!" Ron called, also standing up. She turned around to face him, eyebrows raised. "I, I was hoping we could talk," he said.

"Talk about what?" She asked.

Ron looked down, already beginning to blush. "A-about us?" He said it as more of a question than a statement.

Evangeline sighed, "Right, uh. Look, there's a lot going on in my life right now. Today has been crazy and confusing and just a lot. I-I can't, I-I just—"

Words were failing her in that moment. She didn't know what to say. What to do. The look on his face broke her heart. She could see the sadness in his eyes. The hurt. She had to say something. To explain. "I-I understand—"

"No you don't," she cut him off. Evangeline walked closer to where he stood. "This, this isn't about me not wanting to be with you or whatever it is you're thinking. Because I do want to be with you, Ronald and I mean that. I just can't talk about this right now because I feel like my life is turning to shit and I don't know what to do about it. It's been a tough three months for me, you know, and it'll just get worse. And I'm tired, okay? I'm so tired and all I want to do is sleep. But sleep doesn't even come easy for me anymore and I don't know why. I mean I sleep but only for a few hours at the most. Some nights I don't even think I sleep at all. I feel like the whole world is against me and I hate that feeling. I just feel like soon I'm gonna lose my mind. And I just want it all to stop. I don't, I don't even know how to feel right now. I'm sorry, I really am. But can we talk about this another time. Please," she said. She took a deep breath and released it.

Ron reached his hands up to her face, wiping her tears away with his thumbs. She hadn't even realized that she was crying. "Yeah, of course we can talk about it later. Whenever you want," he said. She nodded her head before sighing.

He looked her in the eyes. "Do you want to talk about what's bothering you?" He asked softly. She shook her head. "Okay. What do you want to do?" He asked next and she shrugged.

Ron stared down at her, unsure of what to do or say. So, he just pulled her into a hug. His arms tightly locked around her body. She snaked her arms around his waist and squeezed him tight. Evangeline's head rested against his chest and she sighed. One of Ron's hands tangled itself into her hair, holding her head to his chest. The two stood like that for a while. Evangeline found herself crying again, her tears staining his shirt. Ron didn't mind though. He was just happy to give her some form of comfort.

Each time an exceptionally loud sob would escape her lips, he would hold her tighter. He wished that he could take her pain away. He wanted to tell her that everything would be okay. That she would be okay. But the truth is, he wasn't sure that it would be. And one thing that he didn't want to do, was lie to her.
