(4x13)

         THE TRIP TO NOVA SCOTIA WAS LONG BUT REBEKAH AND ANUBIS HAD TALKED THE ENTIRE TIME SINCE THEY HAD NOTHING ELSE TO DO. THEY LISTENED TO THE MUSIC ON THE RADIO SINCE ANUBIS HAD MISSED OUT ON CENTURIES OF MUSIC AND HE FOUND THE MUSIC AMUSING. The music was way different from the music they had in Egypt long ago, he enjoyed way more than. When they finally arrived at the island, Bonnie, Damon, Stefan, Jeremy, Elena, and Professor Shane. 

They all looked surprised at his arrival since no one had suspected him which made him smile sarcastically at the group. "Anubis, we weren't expecting you," Stefan commented, Shane looked up at the god with curious eyes. 

"I can tell by the looks on your face," Anubis commented. 

Rebekah rolled her eyes, "Enough with the chit-chat," she started, "I brought Anubis since I think he could be helpful. Now, let's get going, chop, chop," the blonde said while snapping her fingers at the group.  

The group started marching through the woods, there was tension between Elena and Rebekah which Anubis noticed instantaneously. Anubis looked at Rebekah with a confused look, "Is there something that I missed?" he whispered. Rebekah quickly hushed him and gave him a look. Anubis quickly looked the other way while Stefan found ground to set up a tent. Anubis set his stuff down on the ground and felt a shadow looming over him. 

When he lifted his head he saw Damon, the Egyptian quickly rolled his eyes and stood face-to-face with the vampire. "Is there anything I can help you with?" Anubis asked as he folded his arms across his chest. 

"Yeah, what the hell are you doing here?" Damon asked in a low tone. 

Anubis rolled his eyes, "Well, I'm hurt that you didn't invite me, Damon," Anubis started, "Plus, I don't need to tell you why I'm here, we're all here for the same thing aren't we?"

"You don't need the cure," Damon commented. 

Anubis shrugged, "What if I do?" He was trying to get under Damon's skin and it seemed to be working since the vampire was trying to keep his composure. 

"Anubis, I need that cure," Damon said a threatening tone. 

Anubis furrowed his brows, "Why?" he asked, "We all know you don't want Elena to drink it because if she does take the cure then that means that the sire bond is broken and then she'll go back to Stefan. Also, I wouldn't take the tone of voice with me just because I can stick my hand in your chest and rip your heart out," the god simply smiled and walked away from Damon before heading towards Stefan and Rebekah. 

Stefan was tying a knot and Elena walked past the three of them, "You know, you're not really helping." 

Rebekah looked at Stefan unamused, "You're perfectly capable of tying a knot," 

Stefan rolled his eyes, "You giving Elena the evil eye, it's not really helping," 

Rebekah glared at Stefan, "She killed my brother, tried to get you to put a dagger in my back. She's lucky all she's getting is the evil eye," 

"Is that why all of you are avoiding each other?" Anubis asked. 

"You know I can hear you, right?" Elena turned towards Rebekah and Rebekah simply ignored her. 

"You know I don't care, right?" Elena stopped in her tracks and vamped towards Rebekah with the white oak stake in her hand. Rebekah quickly flipped her over and pushed Elena to the ground, "Go ahead, try and kill me. But then you'd have to face your real problems. Like the fact that Stefan invited me here, himself. I guess he likes me again," 

Anubis rushed over to Rebekah, "Let's go take a walk," he grabbed her arm and pushed her away from them. Anubis gave Rebekah a warning look. 

"If it wasn't for everyone here, I would kill her," she commented bitterly. 

Anubis took in a deep breath, "Can you just focus on the main goal?" he asked, "You can't keep getting distracted here. Is everyone here annoying the hell out me? Yes. Do we have to stay focused on why we're here? Yes. Just get it together," Rebekah rolled her eyes and walked past Anubis while giving Elena a half-assed smile. 

Anubis turned around and saw Professor Shane looking at him with curiosity. Anubis felt weird around him, there was something off. "Can I help you?" Anubis asked. 

"Sorry, it's just that you're here in flesh and I-I just can't believe my eyes," Shane answered while staring at Anubis in awe, "Where have you been all along?"

Anubis looked at the sky and then at Shane, "I was placed in a curse for more than a 1,000 years asleep in a small coffin," he then walked away and sat near the stump of a tree.

Once it grew dark they had set up a fire and Anubis got up to wipe the dirt from his pants. When he looked up, he saw Bonnie smiling shyly at him, "Hey," she said awkwardly. 

"Hey," Anubis replied, he felt his heart beating rapidly once he saw her, he caught a glance of Rebekah who was smirking at him. She could hear his heartbeat. 

Bonnie took in a deep breath, "I want to ask if you want to come with Shane and I about Jeremy's tattoo's?"

Anubis furrowed his brows, "Sure, why not?" The two of them started walking and Bonnie kept looking at Anubis while he kept staring at his shoes. 

"Where's Isis?" she asked curiously, "She left as soon as you came back," 

"She's probably back home," he answered, "She's very busy," 

"It's right here," she had led him to a shed and out of nowhere Shane appeared with a light, he seemed surprised when he saw Anubis. 

Bonnie walked towards him, "I've been staring at pictures of Jeremy's tattoo and there's no spell," 

Shane shook his head, "Expression doesn't require a written spell. Just think of it as a way of accessing magic that already exists inside you. You just have to want it bad enough." 

Bonnie furrowed her brows, annoyed at him, "And I'm just supposed to trust you?" 

"Bonnie, you shouldn't be listening to him," Anubis started, Shane turned around with eyes wide open. 

Shane took in a deep breath, "Bonnie, listen, I taught you Expression so that you could access the cure. I'll be right there with you the whole time, I promise," 

"You didn't answer the trust part," Damon appeared behind Anubis who stood behind the witch. 

Shane looked at the two men with fear in his eyes, "All right. Let me put it this way. You need me to help you through it, Bonnie. Because as you've demonstrated, Expression can get messy. Believe me when I say I've seen it get a lot worse," 

"How much worse?" Damon asked 

"When we lost our son in the car accident, my wife kind of lost it. She tried to resurrect his body using magic," Shane explained, 

"Your wife was a witch?" Bonnie asked. 

"She was a powerful witch. And incredibly undisciplined," Shane started while trying to convince them. 

"And you never thought to tell me?" Bonnie asked in an irritated voice, Anubis placed a hand on her shoulder, it felt foreign to him. 

"We shouldn't trust him," Anubis commented while giving Shane a dirty look. 

"I just didn't want to scare you. The truth is, she tried to bring our son back using Expression, and it overwhelmed her, and she died."

Bonnie shifted and her breathing became heavy, "You taught me the same magic that killed your wife?" 

"Yeah, but look, the upside is I've learned the warning signs, all right? I can keep Expression from consuming you." Shane explained, Anubis felt anger in his chest, how could Shane do this? He had taken advantage of Bonnie. 

"Downside is, you turned her into a bomb that only you can dismantle," Damon added. 

"Don't you think I know how this ends? I came here to raise Silas so that he could bring back the dead, but you're never gonna let that happen. The second I point to a cure, you're gonna kill me. Now Bonnie has to keep me alive so I can keep her alive," the three of them looked at Shane, Bonnie looked like she was about to cry but she kept it in.

"We should go," Anubis announced as Damon and Bonnie turned around while Shane opened his mouth to speak. Anubis gave him a look and he quickly closed his mouth. 

Bonnie walked slowly towards the others, "Bonnie, are you okay?" 

She turned around and cracked a smile, it was enough to make Anubis' heartbreak. She wasn't alright but she was trying to keep it together for everyone else and it hurt him to see her the way she was, "I'm fine,"
