   ANUBIS HAD BEEN ASLEEP FOR MORE THAN A THOUSAND YEARS. During the times of ancient Egypt, a group of witches had put him under a deep sleep, ever since then he had been taking people to the Underworld, after all, he was the God of death. But, more than a thousand years was enough, it was time for him to rise again. 

   Esther Mikaelson had prepared herself for this very day. The day she would awake Anubis to kill her children if she did not succeed. She was kept in a coffin for years by her son, Niklaus, who had killed her many moons ago. Anubis' body had been kept in secret, it somehow made its way to Mystic Falls which is where Esther needed it to be. 

   Esther stood above Anubis' body which was hidden inside an Egyptian coffin. Esther had gotten her ingredients for the complicated spell. After she had set up the ingredients, she lit a few candles that were set near her. Esther shut her eyes and placed her hands above the golden coffin, she started chanting in Latin, as she cast the spell, the wind around her picked up blowing her golden blonde curls and the candles that were near burned brighter than before. 

   Soon enough, the wind died down and the candles burned lower. Esther opened up the coffin, she fixated her eyes on Anubis who was still yet asleep. Then, his eyes burst open, they glowed a golden color and then bore a dark-brown color. Anubis let out a gasp as he sat up straight from his coffin, Esther took a step back from the god. 

   Anubis looked around and his eyes landed on the Mikaelson witch. His thick brows furrowed in confusion, wondering where he was and who was in front of him. 

   "You have awakened." Esther murmured, her eyes studying the man in front of her. She felt more secure than ever, this was the man that was going to help her. 

   "Yes, I can see that." He replied with a distasteful tone in his voice, "Who are you and where am I?" 

  "My name is Esther Mikaelson and we are in Mystic Falls." She answered she helped Anubis get out of the coffin as he adjusted himself. 

   "Mystic Falls?" He repeated, "Why am I awake?" He looked over at Esther with eyes full of confusion but at the same time, they were intimidating. Esther swallowed before answering.

   "I need your help." 

   "With what?" Anubis asked as he folded his arms across his chest. 

   "I need you to kill my children if I fail."  Esther's face was serious, she wanted nothing more than her children dead. Although she loved them, they were monsters, they were the reason why so many people were dead. 

   "Why would you want to kill your own children?" Anubis asked in distaste, he would never understand why a mother would want to kill her own children. 

   "They are monsters, and they must be stopped." Anubis furrowed his brows in more confusion, "You will see them tonight." 

  "Tonight?" Anubis asked, raising his voice a little bit, "I don't even know what century we're in?!" 

   Esther chuckled at how oblivious Anubis was, but after all, he was asleep for more than a thousand years. "First, we are in the twenty-first century," she started, "Second of all, you are going to a ball, so I suggest you get ready." Esther turned her back and walked away leaving Anubis even more confused than before. 

   Anubis looked around the room a spotted a tuxedo folded on top of a table. He walked over and examined the suit, it was clean and there were no wrinkles to be seen. 

   He let out a sigh of annoyance, "Why can't they just let me sleep?"

   Anubis walked through the door of the Mikaelson mansion, it took him hours to try and find it. Eventually, he did when he saw other people walking towards the mansion, he had followed people that were wearing tuxedoes and gowns. 

   As he walked through he saw people all dressed up in colorful gowns and suits. Some were talking to others while holding glasses of champagne, classical music played over and over again. As Anubis made his way further into the room a waiter stopped in front of him, he held a tray of champagne glasses. 

   "May I offer you some champagne?" The waiter asked with a smile, his pearly white teeth blinding Anubis' eyes. 

   "Uh, sure." Anubis answered as he grabbed a glass of drink, he held it up to his lips and took a small sip, "Why do people drink this?" He whispered to himself while the glass remained his hands. Anubis felt like the odd one out, everyone was either dancing or talking, while he just stood with a drink. 

    "Uh, if everyone could gather, please." Anubis' head followed the voice, at the top of marble staircase stood a man. The man had pronounced cheekbones, dark-brown eyes, and jet-black hair, he wore a pressed tuxedo and he stood tall and noble. 

   Soon, others walked towards the staircase and stood proudly towards the man. One of them was a woman, she had golden blonde hair and azure eyes, she wore a dark green dress and simple diamond necklace hung from her neck. 

   The other was what Anubis assumed to be a teenager, he had a smirk on his face as he stood next to the others. He had light-brown hair and playful brown eyes. Another male stood tall as well, he too had light brown hair and a pronounced jawline. But, one of them stood out of all the others. The man had dirty blond hair and azure eyes, his lips looked red as if tainted with blood. 

   "Welcome, thank you for joining us. You know, whenever my mother brings our family together like this, it's tradition for us to commence the evening with a dance." The first man thanked with a smile spread across his face. "Tonight's pick is a centuries-old waltz, so if all of you could please find yourselves a partner, please join us in the ballroom." The man motioned the guests to the ballroom with his hand. 

   Anubis assumed that those that were on the staircase were the Mikaelsons. It was after all the Mikaelson mansion and they presided over the room, the only question was, where was Esther? Anubis made his way awkwardly towards the ballroom, there was no one to waltz with so, he decided he would just watch. 

   Music started playing and those who had partners waltzed around the room, some were happy with their partners, others were not. After they all finished dancing, they went back into the other room. That's when everyone was handing champagne glasses, Anubis heard the sound of crystal ringing and shifted his body towards the staircase, there, he saw Esther. She held a red-tinged champagne glass in her hands. 

   "Good Evening, Ladies and Gentleman. Waiters are coming around with champagne. I invite you all to join me in raising a glass. It provides me with no greater joy than to see my family back together as one. I'd like to thank you all for being part of this spectacular evening. Cheers!" 

   "Cheers!" The guests said in unison, Anubis took a swig of the champagne again as so did everyone else in the room. Esther spotted Anubis in the crowd and they shared a look before proceeding to their night. Anubis decided that he would leave, there was no reason for staying any longer. Anubis left the premises and he walked out of the mansion, leaving the glass in the mansion. As he walked he heard the voice of two men speaking, Anubis stopped abruptly and hid behind a car so no one would see him. He looked up towards the balcony of the mansion.

    "Aah!" He heard a man a call out, Anubis looked and saw the teenage Mikaelson with another teenager. The other was blond with blue eyes and he was knelt on the ground clutching his hand. 

   "Hey, hey, hey, hey!" Another man stood behind him, this one had jet-black hair and ocean blue eyes. "Easy on the hand. Guy's a quarterback." 

    All of sudden the man with the jet-black hair rushed to the Mikaelson and pushed him off the balcony, he then jumped off as well. The man started beating up the other Mikaelson and then at last with one swift move, he snapped the teenager's neck. 

   Anubis was in shock and waited for the two men to leave. He had no idea what he had witnessed, that's when all the other Mikaelson's came running out the door with a few others. After everything calmed down, Anubis left without anyone noticing him.

   Anubis walked through the streets of the small town, the street light dimmed and the quiet atmosphere was calm. Anubis spotted a bench and sat down on it, he took off his bow-tie and let out a sigh, "I can't believe they woke me up for this." 

//Okay, I apologize this chapter was kind of slow and boring but I needed to introduce Anubis and such. I'm vv excited for this plot and I have such a good idea. The way I will be planning this story out is one or two chapters per episode. Anyway! I promise the next chapter is better!
