"are we there yet?" miyong impatiently whined, as mark only laughed in return.

"just a few more minutes, mimi." he smiled, peering over at the blindfolded girl with her arms crossed in front of her.

miyong huffed in annoyance as she couldn't see a thing in front of her, feeling helpless and out of control.

"why do i have to wear this stupid thing anyways? you know how terrified i am right now? the darkness absolutely petrifying. you should try this sometime." miyong rambled on endlessly, while mark tried to suppress his chuckles, "oh my gosh what if this is a kidnapping? are you gonna throw me off a cliff into the middle of the ocean for ignoring you? i'm too young to die. i haven't even travelled to around the world yet and that's on my bucket list. i have to do that before i die, okay? please? mark? stop laughing! this isn't funny. mark lee?!" miyong waved her arms around looking for something to grab onto.

"calm down, mi. i'm taking you somewhere special," mark replied tapping the steering wheel with his fingers, "and no, this is not a kidnapping i promise."

"i hate you."

"no, you looove me."

"shut up, you hair freak."

"bet you'd like to do the honors." he shot back cheekily. though miyong couldn't see, she could just imagine the look he had on his face.

she turned her body away from him to face the window instead, choosing to pout and ignore what he had just said.

"okay ms. can't-take-a-joke," he said poking her arm, "lucky timing for you, we've arrived."

mark pulled the car into a stop and unlocked the doors. he immediately hopped out for a quick stretch, as it had been quite a long drive.

miyong quickly sat up straight, almost hitting her head on the roof of the car. "so can i take this thing off my face now?"

"patience, grasshopper." mark answered, walking around the back of the car to the trunk first, before going to open the door for a temporarily blind miyong.

"i ain't no grasshopper, i'm more like a whole ass iguana lizard. i eat, i don't get eaten." she pridefully straightened her back and put her hands on her hips, trying to figure out which direction mark was.

"okay then, iguana lizard," he opened her door and gently grabbed her arm, "come on now."

mark walked a few steps, guiding miyong, before stopping. "stay here for a sec okay? whatever you do, don't move and don't take off your blindfold."

"what? mark!" miyong exclaimed, once again beginning to ramble about how she was going to die.

"i'm right here, dummy." mark suddenly appeared, whispering in her ear behind her a few seconds later, causing her to scream and hit his arm repeatedly.

"i'm going to cry, mark lee, you know that won't be a pretty sight. let me take the damn blindfold off—"

without another word, mark slipped the blindfold off of her twinkling eyes, a look of hopefulness on his face as he watched her expression.

"what are yo—"

miyong rubbed her eyes lightly, clearing the flashing white lights from her vision, before lifting her head up to look around.

her face immediately lit up as her eyes scanned the gorgeous view from the local cliffside. where they stood, a view of the entire city of seoul could be seen, sparkling city lights were scattered all around surrounding the shining han river, which reflected the golden hour setting sun in a beautiful array of glimmer.

"oh mark..."

"do you like it...?" he nervously asked.

"do i like it?" miyong exclaimed, "do i like it?! mark, this is the best place i've ever been to." miyong's face illuminated with excitement, "i love it," she said giggling like a child and running into his arms, gripping his torso tightly, "thank you."

butterflies erupted in her stomach when the two collided, and as he wrapped his arms around her while resting his chin on her head.

'cute.' mark thought to himself, as he felt the girl squirm under his arms in excitement.

"i thought maybe you'd want to watch the sun set from up here... i brought some blankets so we can sit in the trunk of the car," mark said grabbing the girl's hand and pulling her toward the back of the car where the cutely decorated open trunk was.

a simple strand of fairy lights hung just above where their heads would be, while a picnic basket filled with miyong's favourite items such as snacks, games, and a small bouquet of white carnations was left center stage.

"since when we're you this artistic?" miyong laughed, running forwards and hopping into the trunk quickly.

"i don't know what you're talking about. i was always this artistic." mark replied shrugging nonchalantly.

taking the flowers from the basket, miyong could smell the sweet scent of the carnations — an instant serotonin boost for her. "you really know my favorites, huh."

"always." mark replied as the girl continued to look through the basket containing her favorite things.

his mind however, trailed back to a couple weeks ago, when he had planned the exact same date, in the exact same location, for none other than hyejin.

he had brought her carnations. she hated them. he had suggested this location. she hated the idea of it. he had planned it all out, thinking of her, yet nothing ending up going the way he intended it to.

miyong on the other hand, reacted exactly how mark had envisioned it. wide eyed. in awe. and beautiful.

"mark? you there?"

mark turned around to face the smiling girl already bundled up in blankets. he realized he had been lost in his thoughts, completely unaware of his surroundings.

"oh, sorry. i kind of blanked out there." he laughed, hopping into the trunk to join the girl. "so you do forgive me, right?"

miyong handed the boy a blanket, and rolled her eyes. "shhh idiot. look, the sun is about to set." pointed out towards the horizon.

the two sat side by side, in a comforting silence, content with just each other's presence, as the golden sun slowly dipped below the edge of the horizon.

happy new year loves <3! sorry for not updating in a while, i've been trying to get rest during my winter break. i'll try and update more this week! hope everyone's christmas/holiday season was great :')
