❛ honestly, we should
go star in a drama. ❜
—
"hi mark." a senior cheerleader, by the name of soomin cooed, walking up to where mark and miyong were seated. she placed her hand down on the table in front of him, a preppy — fake — smile was plastered on her face as she looked miyong up and down hiding her displease.
soomin was a tall, slender, brunette girl with waist-length hair. she was a typical flirty cheerleader, who wore skirts too short for her own good. not to mention she was one of hyejin's many followers.
miyong raised her eyebrows questionably, wondering what soomin thought of her after she had eyed her down.
"hey." mark replied in a monotone voice, his face bearing a blank expression, which soomin clearly didn't read correctly.
without realizing it, mark slowly wrapped his arm instinctively around miyong's waist, as he didn't like the way the girl standing in front of him had looked at the noirette beside him.
"so mark, what's the deal with you two?" she asked, completely neglecting miyong's existence.
another two cheerleaders by the name of jiyoon and kyongja, followed up behind soomin. both looking practically identical to soomin, besides their hair colours. they look like carbon copies, miyong thought to herself, shivering.
the trio crossed their arms like they were typical cliché cheerleaders in the movies, and quite frankly, it scared miyong how synchronized they were.
miyong's brows creased together in a dull fashion and mentally prepared herself to be attacked.
mark opened his mouth to speak, but before he could, miyong cut him off wearing the most innocent look on her face.
"he's my boyfriend."
"oh?" kyongja questioned, raising her brows high in suspicion and tilting her perfect porcelain face towards the girl. a small smirk grew onto her face as she twirled a strand of her dark red hair around her fingers. "that's weird... 'cause just yesterday mark here was dying to get back with our cheer captain, hyejin."
jiyoon giggled. "you're so cute miyong," she said sparing a quick glance at the shorter girl, "don't keep dreaming about things that will never happen. mark's clearly still in love with hyejin, we know she's the only person he ever really loved... and whatever this is, we know it isn't real."
soomin laughed. "most of all, we all know that mark lee wouldn't ever really date some loser like you."
mark opened his mouth to protest, but was silenced when he felt a tight squeeze on his hand from miyong, signalling for him to allow her to take the lead.
miyong swallowed harshly at the cheer trio's statement. their words stung, but that was the least of her problems. her insides twisted as she knew that they had been caught red-handed.
was it really that obvious that mark would never choose someone like her? or was she that bad of an actress that they had caught on so quickly?
no. she was park miyong.
she would never back down so easily.
she would prove them wrong alright.
sucking up her pride — as she knew mark would tease for what she was about to do after — miyong put on her prettiest smile, turned towards mark, and lifted a hand to gently caress his face.
"of course not. i'm too much of a loser, for us to date. aren't i, mark?" miyong asked in a teasingly way, her eyes sparkling in admiration as she pursed her lips into a slight pout.
mark grinned and began to play along. "yeah, you may just be the biggest loser i know," he responded with a mischievous grin tracing his lips, "but guess what?" he continued pulling miyong closer and closer.
close to the point where she was practically sitting on his lap.
"you're my loser."
miyong rolled her eyes playfully at her best friend's cheesy words. classic mark, being a classic flirt.
though it was all an act, miyong's heart couldn't help but flutter rapidly inside of her. at this point, it wasn't something she could control anymore. the butterflies came back every time no matter how hard she resisted and told herself he didn't really mean it.
but he was damn good at this acting thing.
"come on," mark whined quietly into the crook of miyong's neck, but loud enough for the trio to hear. "give me a kiss, mi."
the corners of miyong's lips raised without her consent, as she raked a hand through his damaged hair, untangling the messy parts.
taking her sweet time, miyong traced her thumb across his cheek— soaking in a feeling she had craved ever since she fell for mark.
at her touch, mark couldn't help but smile with stars in his eyes. slowly, he became impatient.
he wanted that kiss, and he wanted it now.
before miyong could do anything to stop it, mark turned her face to meet his and softly kissed her lips with passion. her eyes slowly closed, as he did the same.
the pair could hear the gasps of the cheerleaders that stood by them, gaping at the sight of how intimate and passionate their kiss was.
it was a gentle kiss. not too small, not too extravagant. not too weak, yet not too hard.
in miyong's mind, it was perfect.
the two teens slowly broke away from each other after quite a long time, looking as if they were candidly in love with each other. well, at least one of them was with the other.
"you freak— you didn't even give me an option to disagree." miyong frowned, crossing her arms and narrowing her eyes at the smirking boy beside her.
mark shrugged and narrowed his eyes back scrunching his face. "i couldn't wait any longer. you just looked so adorable when you played with my hair."
obviously his words flustered miyong, but thankfully before he noticed, mark had turned back to face the cheerleaders with a proud look on his face, when miyong's ears flushed red.
mark was a killer at flirting, just as much as miyong was a killer actress. they were unstoppable.
soomin, jiyoon, and kyongja had gone silent, embarrassment washing over them as they quickly shuffled away out of the cafeteria atrium without a word.
mark chuckled, bringing his left hand up to cover his mouth, and taking miyong's with his right — out of habit. "did you see the look on their faces? that was hilarious, mi. you were amazing."
shoving aside her feelings, miyong smiled alongside him. she too had enjoyed seeing the shocked look on the cheerleader's faces. "thank you my dear hair freak," she replied ruffling his hair once again, "you too weren't so bad yourse—"
"what did we just witness—" a cracked emotional voice broke through the couple's conversation and the pair turned, only to remember that their friends were still sitting across from them. wide eyes and teary-eyed expressions were all that could be seen.
"haechan! you dimwit, you just ruined the moment!" renjun exclaimed shaking his head.
"that— that was so beautiful... tissues— where are the tissues—"
seyeon sighed dreamily. "they even forgot we were here for a second... my babies are all grown up." she said pretending to wipe a tear from her eye.
"noona, hyung... you guys are... woah." jisung said in awe, blushing with his adorable signature smile.
"damn... so you guys sure this isn't real?..." jeno asked, a mix of amazement and disbelief infused in his voice.
miyong dusted off her shoulders with a 'not too shabby' look on her face before nodding.
"honestly, we should go star in a drama, mi," mark joked, his hand now resting on miyong's knee, creating an enraging sensation across her body. "and maybe win an oscar."
miyong smiled back at her best friend, but deep down her heart ached.
the fact that none of this was real made her feel as if there were a thousand knives furiously stabbing her.
it hurt her more than anyone knew and would ever know.
