aarondessner you are the absolute best, oh how I love you so. there is absolutely no one like you, and I will never take all of the lessons I've learned from you for granted. you were such a vital part of this project and it would not have gotten done without you. words can't express my gratitude. all I have to say is thank you.

this album means so much to me for a million different strange and delicate reasons. out of everything, these songs feel like 100% myself. they're filled with so much authenticity. and, of course, this album couldn't have been made without YOU. without your support, this album wouldn't have been possible. I hope you love it.

REAL LIFE

LUNA HAD GONE from Georgia for the spooky adventure straight to LA to perform on Jimmy Kimmel, but it was really important to her that she got back home to talk about her album on stream the day it was released. It was hectic — she had performed her live version of I know it won't work, and immediately after, she got on another plane back to North Carolina. It had been a long past couple of days, but Luna wouldn't have traded it for the world.

She sat in front of her computer, staring at her screen. Luna took a deep breath — she didn't know why she was so nervous, her album was already out. Maybe it was just the fact that it was something so vulnerable, and she was sharing it with people who would be with her in real time. She waited until the opening song ended on her starting soon screen — today was Block Me Out — and switched to full camera.

Luna waved at her camera. "Hi, chat."

Her chat had already been going crazy fast, but it seemed to speed up at the sight of her. Luna quickly switched it to slow mode so she could read as much as possible. Despite some of the messages being deleted by her moderators, every single comment was about her album. Either their reactions, their favorite songs, or their favorite lyrics. Luna felt herself smile, her heart warming. This — this is what she always wanted.

"So, I'm going to assume that most of you have already listened to Good Riddance," Luna continued. "Which, thank you for listening, by the way. I just love you guys so much it hurts. Seeing all the love online, seeing all the love in chat, it's unreal. You guys have helped made my absolute dream come true, so thank you. Also, you guys made it possible for me to perform on Kimmel last night, so that's crazy."

Her chat then started to spam hearts and her bow emote.

"Um, Good Riddance feels just, like, so unapologetically myself. A lot of these songs are experiences that I've lived through or just thoughts I had in my head that I've created into music with the help of Aaron. Love him, by the way. Absolute king. But, uh . . . it's a really vulnerable thing to put shit like this out in the world, yet I've felt nothing but comfort. I've been reading my comments all night, reading your guys' stories about how you relate, and I love that. My goal has always been to put music out to reach people, and not to say that I haven't done that before, but this feels different."

Luna then glanced over at her chat, seeing multiple of her friends start to type — Tina, Jodi, Miyoung, Karl — all about how they loved the music.

"And since none of this could've been possible without you, I thought we could have a little listening party," Luna said, navigating to her Spotify and pulling up the album. "I'll explain a little bit about each song, and then we'll listen to it together . . . even though most of you probably already have heard it. To start off, I named the album Good Riddance because it's about surrendering to change and walking away from versions of yourself you stopped realizing. With a lot of these songs on the album, I feel like that's the whole premise." She then cleared her throat. "Okay, so the first track is called Best, and Best . . ."

Luna then started the process she said she would. She explained what the song was about before playing it. Best — included the title of the album, all about how she wasn't the best person in the relationship and remembering all the bad things she did. I know it won't work — wanting to be with someone despite a bad experience, even though it won't work. Full machine — navigating the path of heartbreak and wanting to go back to the person she was with. Where do we go now? — a one-sided love filled with white lies and red flags that eventually ended, with many questions in the song being unanswered. I should hate you — not wanting to judge someone who hurt her because it felt like she still loved them. Will you cry? — spiraling while questioning a relationship, and asking if the soon-ex will cry when it ends. Amelie — a short yet impactful interaction with a girl named Amelie, but she is unable to see if meeting her was actually real or just a dream, and searching desperately. Difficult — putting her insecurities out on the table about her internal struggles. This what the drugs are for — using drugs to numb the pain of a breakup and how her life became cold. Fault line — how she could recover easily from a heartbreak and how she'll be fine with the help of her imaginary friends. The blue — the only truly happy song on the album, telling a story of falling for someone unexpected (she didn't say it was about Noah, but she didn't have to, because her chat already knew.) Right now — feeling like she's floating when thinking about her family, which is where she feels most herself (Luna also made it abundantly clear that this was about Mary Jane's family, because they were more of an actual family to her).

After an hour journey of listening to the songs and talking to her chat, they had made it through the entire album. Luna looked over at her chat again to see that most of them were saying they were crying, and she let out a small laugh.

"Guys, I also shed many tears while writing all of this," Luna admitted. "Anyways, that's the album. I'm so proud of—"

An alert then sounded — more specifically, the one that she made for when she got gifted a large amount of subs. Luna's eyes widened a little and she looked over.

IT'S PARTY TIME

"What . . ." Luna trailed off, feeling like her heart just stopped for a moment, because a hundred subs was a lot of money. "Uh, hi, Noah. Thank you for the hundred subs, handsome . . . but didn't we have a talk about you not gifting me any more subs? And what does party time mean?"

Luna's door then flung open. She jumped slightly from the sudden noise and looked over. Standing in her doorway was Mary Jane — who was holding a cake, Noah, Nolan, and Karl — who had a bunch of black, gray, and white balloons in his hands.

Noah raised his arms in the air. "Party time!"

She let out a small laugh. "Hi, guys."

Karl giggled his usual giggle, running into her room with the balloons. "Happy album day!"

"Aw, thanks, Karl."

"She's a celebrity!" Nolan shouted. "We're friends with a famous person!"

Karl blinked at him. "Were we not already friends with MJ?"

"We consider MJ a friend?"

Mary Jane glared at him. "You're so lucky I'm holding this cake, you motherfucker." She then carefully walked up to Luna. "For you, Princess."

She looked at the cake. It was square with white frosting, but in the middle of it was a picture of the album cover. Except it wasn't a printed picture, it was actually in the frosting.

Luna looked up at Mary Jane. "You did this?"

Mary Jane shook her head. "Not me." She smiled softly and nodded her head to Noah. "All him."

Her breath hitched in her throat. She looked to Noah, who had a slight blush on his cheeks and a shy smile on her face. Luna swore she had a million stars in her eyes as she looked at him, her heart beating fast against her chest and her stomach feeling fluttery. She gestured for him to come closer to her, and he stepped forwards. Luna then inclined her head slightly. Noah got the message and leaned down, kissing her sweetly for a moment.

Time seemed to stop. It was like the world around Luna froze whenever she kissed Noah, like they were the only two in the world. It was strange how he just made her feel like that.

She pulled away after a second, grinning up at him. "Thank you."

"Everything for you," Noah responded.

Luna then turned back towards her chat. "Okay, guys, apparently it's party time. I'm gonna go downstairs and hang out with my friends and celebrate the album release. Uh, thank you guys so much for joining the stream — for all the nice comments, the subs, everything. And, obviously, thank you so much for listening to the album, I'm so glad you guys like it. Um, what else? Oh, I go on tour in a couple of weeks for the album. I'll be touring the US for about a month and I'm really looking forward to it, so I'll see some of you there." She then waved at her chat. "Bye guys, I love you all."

The others said bye behind her, and Luna ended her stream. She stood up from her chair and immediately launched herself into Noah's arms. Noah chuckled and caught her easily, holding her close.

She kissed his cheek. "You're the best."

"Don't have to tell me twice," Noah responded. He then turned towards the door, making her spin as he still held her. "Now, c'mon, superstar. Let's go celebrate you."

"Can I pay you back for the hundred subs?"

"Absolutely fucking not. You deserve those, baby."

Luna then allowed herself to get carried down the stairs by her boyfriend, followed by her friends, to celebrate her album release after streaming to thousands of people. She couldn't believe her life.

I would like to let you all know, for halloween, luna dressed up as gabriella montez in hsm3 with the white dress and white flowers in her hair. she thought that foolish would dress up as troy bolton . . . but she was horribly mistaken, and he dressed up as whatever the fuck he was. I can't even describe what his costume was, honestly. but THEN he actually changes and becomes troy bolton in the treehouse scene and then they killed halloween
