recommended song: Arsonist's Lullabye by Hozier

The room was dim, the air thick with tension. The smell of blood and gunpowder filled the space, mixing with the sharp sound of broken glass underfoot. Yoongi stood, his gun pointed directly at Taehyung's chest, every muscle in his body tight with anger. Jungkook, bruised and bloodied, stood protectively next to Y/n, as a shield. Namjoon and Jin stood close behind, guns raised, breathing steady, but their eyes watching every movement.

The tension was suffocating.

Yoongi, glared at Taehyung, his voice sharp as blade, "Put it down, Kim."

A flickerโ€”barely thereโ€”a micro-expression skimming across Taehyung's face. He exhaled sharply, half amusement, half something unreadable. "Didn't expect to see you here."

"Didn't expect to see you alive," Yoongi shot back, voice low, but dangerous.

Taehyung chuckled, the sound edged with something cruel. "So, you really thought I'd go down that easily?"

"You should've," Yoongi murmured, eyes dark, voice laced with unspoken rage. "Would've saved us both the trouble."

Y/n looked between them, her heart pounding. She had never seen Yoongi like thisโ€”so rigid, so sharp, like a whole new person.

Taehyung laughs, "How long has it been? Ten years? Fifteen? And yet, here we are, standing on opposite sides again."

The room shifts.

Jungkook frowned, "What...?"

Y/n stares between them shocked. Namjoon's grip on his gun tightens. Jin's sharp eyes dart between the two men, sensing the weight in the air.

Yoongi doesn't react. Just cocks his gun.

And just like that, the world tiltsโ€”

Fifteen years ago.

In the underworld of South Korea, there were two powerful figures, Kim Hwan, and Min Hieun. More than allies, they were brothers in everything but blood, raised in the same orphanage, abandoned by the world. They had nothing, so they built an empire. But even the strongest bonds have cracks, and in the shadows of loyalty, there was always greed, always a hunger for more.

Their sonsโ€”Kim Taehyung and Min Yoongiโ€”were raised together, sworn brothers before they even understood what that meant. They lived a life far away from the world of the mafia, at least back then. Yoongi was always the protector, shielding Taehyung from the world, from the things their fathers refused to spare them from. Things were alright. Life was simple. And then Y/n was born into the Min family, and everything changed.

Y/n was different. She was the light in their world, always cheerful, always kind. She made their days brighter, even when everything else felt dark.

Even as a child, Taehyung clung to her, fiercely protective. Yoongi found it endearingโ€”until it wasn't.

Taehyung became protective of her. Too protective. His obsession started when she was just a little girl, and Yoongi began to notice. Taehyung didn't just want to be close to her; he needed to be close to her.

At first, it was small things. Taehyung always wanting Y/n by his side, unwilling to let Yoongi take her home. Then it became more. The way his grip on her hand tightened when someone else approached. The way he needed her near him, like she was the only thing anchoring him to something real.

He was only a child, but even then, Yoongi saw it for what it was.

An obsession.

And it only grew.

But a day came,

The tension was palpable that night. The room, dimly lit by the glow of a single hanging bulb, was filled with the smell of cigars and thick tension. Yoongi and Taehyung sat across from their fathers at a long wooden table, each of them silently observing the other. Their fathers were no longer brothersโ€”they ought to be. They were manipulators, always scheming to gain control of something bigger.

This was different.

This was not just another deal.

Their fathers had grown more desperate. Their trust was fragile.

Taehyung's father was the first to speak, his voice rough and demanding. "You've promised us this for years. We need it."

Yoongi's father leaned back, his expression unreadable. "Don't push me, Hwan. You know the consequences."

The words were a match striking a dry wood.

Taehyung felt the shift in the roomโ€”he felt it in his bones. Something wasn't right. He stood abruptly, his chair scraping against the floor. He looked around the room, his chest tight. The feeling of being trapped was overwhelming. He didn't want to be part of this. He didn't want to betray anyone.

"Stop it," Taehyung muttered, mostly to himself. But no one heard him.

Yoongi noticed his friend's nervous self and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Tae... it's okay. It'll be fine."

But it wouldn't.

Then, chaos erupted.

A loud bang filled the room as men stormed in, guns aimed at everyone.

Taehyung's father barked orders, his voice sharp, merciless.

Bang!

Before Yoongi could react, his father lunged forward, pulling Yoongi into his arms, protecting him.

The gunshot cracked through the air, as Yoongi's father fell to the ground, blood pooling beneath him.

Yoongi's breath caught. His fatherโ€”his fatherโ€”

He turned to look at the one who just fired the gun.

Taehyung.

But it can't be him. He can't pull the trigger. Not on his friend's father. He couldn't do it, right..?

Taehyung dropped the gun, backing away, his eyes wide with panic.

"Hyung, it's not like that! I swear, I didn't meanโ€”" he shook his head frantically.

The words barely left his lips before Yoongi's father's men came in forward.

Yoongi stood frozen, his face pale with disbelief. The room seemed to spin. His world shattered in front of him. His fatherโ€”dead. And his best friend, the boy he trustedโ€”had fired the gun.

"What did you do?" His voice was barely a whisper, a raw, broken thing.

Taehyung stepped forward, desperate. "I didn't mean to, hyung. Please, believe me."

But Yoongi wasn't listening. His gaze was sharp, filled with betrayal. Something in his eyes closing forever. Trust. He turned away from Taehyung, his heart a broken mess. The years of friendship, the years of trustโ€”they were gone.

Yoongi's father's men immediately moved in, taking Yoongi's father's body away. But Yoongi was already gone.

Yoongi never looked back. He fled with Y/n, leaving everything behindโ€”the mafia, the life they had known, and Taehyung. He could never forgive him. That night, the trust between them was shattered. Taehyung was no longer the boy he once knew; he was a stranger, and Yoongi couldn't bring himself to be around him anymore.

The betrayal burned in his veins, a fire that wouldn't die. His best friend had killed his father. Whether it was intentional or not didn't matter.

All that mattered was that Taehyung had pulled the trigger.

And so, he erased everythingโ€”his past, his ties, his brother.

But Taehyung...

Taehyung was left behind. Alone.

He hadn't wanted any of this. But his father's manipulation had forced him into it. He had hesitated to pull the trigger, but it didn't matter. In that moment, he had lost everything. Yoongi had left him. Yoongi had abandoned him, and the weight of that betrayal crushed him.

Years passed, and Taehyung rose to power, becoming the king of the underworld. He killed his father in cold blood, his rage and his pain turning him into a ruthless mafia king. No longer a pawn. No longer a son. No one could stood in his way. No one could stop him.

But most of all, he swore to get Y/n back.

He swore to kill the one who abandoned him.

Yoongi.
