Many Years ago
"Sugar, how would you feel about being an older brother?"
Six-year-old Yoongi sneaked out his head from the blanket, his dark hair a messy tangle on the pillow. He peeked out, blinking at his mother's soft smile.
He rubbed his sleepy eyes as he whispered, "Older brother?"
His mother nodded, tucking the blanket under his chin. "Yes, sweetheart. What do you think?"
"Me?" Yoongi frowned, "But I heard you need to be big for that, don't you, mumma?"
She chuckled softly, pressing a kiss to his forehead. "You're a big boy in here." She placed a gentle hand over his heart.
"I'm not big yet, Mumma! Not yet!"
She laughed, "Don't worry, you'll be the best big brother. I know it."

It wasn't until later that day, after hours of fidgeting, playing with his toy cars, and asking every minute when "the baby" would come, that Yoongi first saw her.
The room was filled with soft light, and there she was, nestled in their mother's armsβa small (cute) bundle wrapped in pink. The baby's eyes were barely open, tiny hands reaching out as if searching for something familiar, something safe.
Yoongi hesitated by the door, suddenly unsure. Could he really be an older brother?
His mother noticed him and gave him a reassuring smile. "Come here, Yoongi. Meet your little sister."
With cautious steps, he approached, eyes wide with wonder. The baby let out a soft coo, her tiny fingers reaching toward him as if she already knew him. Yoongi's heart pounded in his chest as he extended a trembling hand, his finger brushing against her tiny palm.
She grasped it.
It was soft. Warm. Fragile.
His breath hitched as she held onto him like he was her whole world.
"She's... so small," Yoongi whispered.
His mother nodded. "She is. And she'll need her big brother to look after her."
Yoongi gazed down at his baby sister, her peaceful face and tiny form nestled in their mother's arms. He smiled, something in him shifting. This wasn't scary. It wasn't about being big or strongβit was about her.
"Will you protect your little sister forever, Yoongi?"
"I will. I'll protect her from everything."
Always.

As the years passed, Yoongi always kept his promise.
He was always by her side, her tiny shadow trailing him wherever he went.
When she took her first steps, he was there, cheering her on. When she learned to ride a bike, he held onto the handlebars, steadying her until she could pedal on her own.
They spent afternoons building forts out of pillows, drawing on the walls (which their mother pretended to scold them for).
"Brother!" she would call, her voice high and clear whenever she needed him.
And he would always answer, "I'm here."

"I miss our home"
Yn slumped down beside her brother. "Home?"
Yoongi nooded, "our home in Daegu, I don't like here." He laid down on the bed. "I miss dad too.. its been so many months since we last saw him.." he sighed.
Yn tilted her head and laid on Yoongi's shoulder. "Brother my home."
Yoongi looked at her and smiled softly.
He knew she was trying to comfort him.
He chuckled.
Thankyou. For coming into my life. Really.
And with that, Yoongi knew, no matter how much time passed, he would always protect her.
Always.
No matter whoever stands his way.
No matter which path he have to walk on.
