27: Storm Brewing
Gerard went on the plane with the rest of the students. There was an alley in the center, and three sits in both rows.
Most of the students had changed their seats to sit next to their friends.
Brendon sat on the right side next to the porthole, then there was Ray and at last, Gerard. Behind them were Dallon, Pete and Frank. Not far from them on the left side, Anthony sat between Patrick and Kellin. Ryan was sitting with two guys whose names Gerard reckoned were Josh and Tyler.
A couple of flight attendants came in the alley to make the usual demonstration about how to react in case of an emergency, and Brendon started biting his nails nervously. He was terrified of taking the plane.
"I've never understood the use of these oxygen masks, really." he commented.
"It'll help you breathe if there's a problem. You probably need one right now, you seem a little tense," Gerard remarked.
"Yeah well, as far as I'm concerned, if the plane crashes, I won't give a single fuck about breathing." Brendon rolled his eyes. "We'll all be able to breathe until the end, great ! We'll have enough air to see death coming for us and count together the seconds that we have left to live, before we explode into a billion molecules."
The plane flew off much to the students amazement, despite the fact that they had all taken the plane before and that every take-off always went the same. In other simple words, they were just happy to take the plane with their friends.
Brendon shut his eyes and held his breath. He clutched on his seat's armrests, this travel was hell for him. Ray noticed his anxiety and patted his shoulder. "Hey, it's okay Brendon, the plane will soon get steady, everything is fine."
Brendon nodded vigorously, but that didn't make him ease up a bit. "Dallon, stop hitting my seat !" he suddenly said to the boy behind him that was indeed taking pleasure in kicking his seat.
"Afraid of taking the plane, Urie? You know, you're cute when you're scared and angry."
"I know, now quit being a dick !" Brendon snapped and Dallon laughed.
As Ray had predicted, the plane steadied and Brendon relaxed in his seat - just a little. All the students were now allowed to get up and Frank didn't waste time to get massive amounts of chewing-gum out of his backpack, and let his two best friends take some from the pack.
"Mr Iero..." Mrs Navarro, who was strolling in the alley, began. "...What do you think you're doing?"
"Chewing my gum, ma'am." Frank casually let out, making a light pink bubble with the gum. "You know, not to have my ears whistling. I know it's forbidden at school, but we're not at school anymore, are we?"
Frank purposely chewed as loudly as he could and gave her a phony smile, and the maths teacher had no choice but to let it go since she had no valid argument against that.
"Dear passengers, we may encounter turbulences due to a storm brewing, everything is under control, thank you."
Brendon took deep breaths to calm himself down, this announcement really wasn't helping his case. Gerard bent to look at his friend. "Hey, it's okay, we're not gonna crash or anything. The plane is safe you know?"
"Yeah, that's exactly what all the people who died in a plane crash said before taking off. So tell me that when we arrive, if we don't fucking die on the way !"
"You're being overdramatic here... Breathe okay? I'm pretty sure that if you don't, your chances of death will increase exponentially."
"In English?"
Gerard sighed. "If you don't calm down and breathe, you'll be far more likely to die from suffocation than in a plane crash because of a stupid little storm."
"Hey, try listening to music." Ray suggested.
" 'Can't, I forgot my earbuds in Belleville..." Brendon mumbled.
"Well, sing it then." Ray shrugged. "Come on, it will calm you down."
Brendon began humming a song and Gerard frowned. "Metallica soothes you?"
"Yes it does."
Gerard shrugged. "I've got no problem with that man, I like Metallica."
Frank, who had heard everything, restrained himself from claiming to Gerard in front of everyone that he loved Metallica too, that he was sorry for everything and that he loved Gerard with all his heart.
He kept himself from hugging Gerard so tightly that Gerard couldn't even be able to breathe, to ask him out and even to fucking marry him right now - which wasn't technically possible, but shush.
Frank wouldn't do any of that because he was still pissed. And his pride would always keep him from being the one apologizing in the first place, even if that made him a heartless dick that was stubbornly holding a grudge against the boy he was in love with.
Gerard turned back to face Frank. "C-can we have chewing-gum? I'm sure it will soothe Brendon..." he timidly asked.
He sort of used that as an excuse to see if Frank was still mad, which Frank was. Frank didn't reply, he just clenched his jaw and looked away, completely ignoring him. Gerard gulped, and Pete, seeing what was going on, took a handful of gum that he gave to Gerard, earning him a glare from Frank.
"Sure, here you go, Sugar." Pete cooed and Gerard thanked him. He didn't even mind the sweet pet names Pete gave him or his constant flirtatious attitude anymore because after all, it was Pete Wentz, and Pete Wentz basically flirted with everybody all the time - not necessarily to have sex, it was just the way he was.
Gerard got up to go in the bathroom and did the best he could not to stumble and fall on people while doing so.

Frank felt his legs grow number and number, so he decided to get up and take a stroll. He rested his hands on the seats around him as a turbulance almost made him fall on poor Ryan, who was just trying to take a nap.
Gerard eventually went out of the bathroom and wanted to go back to his seat, but apparently fate had decided otherwise.
He came face to face with Frank, and both of them had intended to ignore each other, but it was at this precise moment that turbulences shook the plane. Gerard lost balance and collided with Frank, pressing him against the cabin wall against both's will.
Frank's heart bumped in his chest, and it definitely wasn't because of the turbulences. There was something about Gerard Way pinning him against the wall that made his limbs tremble like they never had before. It wasn't by fear or anger but arousal.
Gerard recoiled. "Oh God, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry-"
Gerard was cut by another turbulence. Frank managed to stay stable but Gerard, however, jerked back with a squeak. He would have fallen if Frank hadn't had the reflex to grasp his collar. Frank kept his grip on him to help him keep steady.
After a few seconds of awkward staring, Gerard stutterd a 'thank you', not believing that what had just happened was real and hadn't just come out of the most cliché chick flick.
Frank let go of the uneasy boy in front of him and looked away. "Watch your step." he simply said before going back to his seat. His tone surely wasn't benevolent, but it wasn't harsh either. It was... cold.
Gerard went back to his seat and took a nap to kill time before arriving in Cambridge. He woke up when the plane began to land, and saw that his seatbelt had been fastened - by Ray probably. Everybody packed all the stuff they had spread out during the flight.
As soon as Brendon got out of the plane, he rose his arms overdramatically. "Aaah, my dear ground ! How I've missed you !" he exclaimed, making people laugh around him.
Everyone went to the facility to get back their luggages, and once this was done, the class headed for a bus that was wating just for him.
Just like during the flight, the students didn't waste time to resume eating whilst listening to music. It's crazy how giving food and music to a bunch of crazy hormonal teenagers can buy social peace.
After a couple of hours, the bus stopped before a youth hostel that the students of Belleville high had all to themselves. It was around 5pm when everybody rushed out of the bus to be the first to get their luggage back. Gerard simply waited for all the luggages to be gone to pick his own, which resulted in him being the last to discover the hostel.
It was a very nice place, some sort of mansion that actually wasn't in Cambridge but in its vicinity. The walls were traditional, made of red bricks and stones.
Mrs Cooper took attendance - just to be sure that they hadn't lost a student somewhere. Then, Mr Wilkins demanded all the boys to get in line once inside the building in the wide hall, and the girls on the other side.
Mrs Cooper explained how the journey would go, she announced basic bans such as : no smoking, no videogames, no alcohol or drugs, no sex. She didn't know that almost all the students indended to transgress at least one of these rules.
Mrs Cooper accompagnied the girls to their rooms on the first floor, then Mr Cooper did the same with all the boys on the second floor. There was a large curved hallway covered in orange-reddish carpet with doors aligned on the left. There was no door on the right, except the janitor's one and occasional toilets.
"Alright guys, here are your rooms. It's by alphabetical order, one per person. Please try not to destroy your room, if you do, it'll be at the expense of your families." Mr Wilkins sighed, as he was expecting and preparing himself for these kinds of trouble.
"Also, we'll generally get back here around 6 after the visits, dinner's at 7 and curfew's at 10, which means past 10, lights are out and you can't leave your bedroom. If you do, the same sanctions as in the school apply -detention and all."
Once the teacher was done talking, every student went in their room to unpack their luggages, and Gerard went to his as well. It was almost at the end of the hallway since his last name began with a 'w'. The two last belonged to Dallon Weekes and Pete Wentz.
At least Gerard's room wasn't too far from his friends'.
All the bedrooms were alike, with one large bed, a wooden wardrobe against a wall, a big window and the same warm, orange-red carpet as in the hallways.
Gerard went out of his room to see people stroll in the hallway, chatting and enjoying their break while waiting for dinner.
Gerard stood before a door with 'Iero' written on it, it either was Frank's or Anthony's. Their rooms were next to each other, naturally.
He knocked on the door, hoping it was Anthony's and that he wouldn't come face to face with an annoyed Frank.
Luckily, he was welcomed by a warm smile that belonged to Anthony, who invited him in.
"Hey" Anthony said.
Gerard replied by connecting their lips. "Hey." he smiled against Anthony's lips. "I missed you."
Anthony giggled. "Yeah, ten hours without seeing me, that must've been awful !"
"It was." Gerard wrapped his arms around Anthony's waist. "I like it here, it's nice."
"Yeah, and the mattresses are very comfy."
"Are they?" Gerard grinned. He and Anthony were practically talking in each other's mouth.
"Yeah, see for yourself..." Anthony laid Gerard to his mattress and layed him on it, topping him. The two of them resumed kissing lovingly.
Anthony eventually tried to slip his hand into Gerard's jeans, making the redhead twitch and break the kiss. He wasn't expecting that. Anthony stopped everything he was doing.
"What's wrong, you don't want this? I'm sorry, I can stop..."
"N-No, don't. Please keep going." Gerard blushed.
"For that, you're gonna have to let go of my wrist." Anthony chuckled and Gerard looked down. He hadn't realized that he had been grasping Anthony's wrist to stop any motion. Anthony sat next to Gerard, and Gerard sat up.
"Look, you clearly don't want this, no matter what you say. Hey, no rush okay?" Anthony reassured.
"No, b-but I don't mind doing it if that's what you want."
"Well, I do mind if you don't want to as well. I've waited for this for months, I can wait a few more." Anthony chuckled. "We can cuddle, if you want. Just cuddling, okay?"
Gerard nodded and both of them laid back in bed next to each other. Gerard burried his face in Anthony's neck, who kissed his head and wrapped his arms around Gerard in a protective manner.
Gerard's mind started wandering, until his thoughts led him to that fight with Frank. It was too dumb. Gerard really needed to go see Frank and apologize; he couldn't stand being ignored by Frank Iero any longer. Whether Gerard wanted it or not, that beautiful brat was an important part of his life that Gerard didn't want to let go because of one stupid fight.
"What's on your mind, baby?" Anthony dragged him back to reality.
"Hm, nothing..." Gerard couldn't tell him what he was truly thinking about, not in a moment like this. Anthony narrowed his eyes suspiciously and Gerard decided to change the topic. "Where do you see yourself in like, 10 years?"
Anthony took the time to think before answering : "uhh, I'd say go to college, I wanna become a lawyer. I also wanna have a dog."
"A dog?" Gerard's eyebrows raised with amusement.
"Yeah, I love dogs. I could have dozens of them if I could- hey, don't laugh !"
Gerard was indeed holding back a laughter. "I'm sorry, but this is adorable. You're adorable."
"Aw, thanks baby. You're adorable too. I love you." Anthony put a kiss on Gerard's lips.
"I love you too."
And with these honestly spoken words, the two of them hopped off the bed as dinner was ready.
