Chapter 94: Love unhinged
You got home after 9 p.m. at night after you've dropped Hobi off at the airfield. Taehyung looked a little tired as you walked into the bright house holding hands.
There was light chattering in the sitting room. You furrowed your brow when you only saw Shelby, Liu-Mei and Ming Mei in the lounge surrounded by many various colored gift bags and boxes.
Once entered, Ming Mei jumps up looking happy and excited.
"Jiejie...Taetae! We are going to open up my presents! Ama said I can go to bed at ten."Ming Mei squealed at Shelby while Liu Mei laughed. The house was pristine clean with Ming Mei already bathed and wearing her BTS-onesie all of which made Taehyung smirk. She looked too cute with her shiny face and hair packed on top in a messy bun.
You looked around inquiringly," Where is everyone else?"
"Oh, they all went up to sleep. Your grandma wanted to stay awake but your grandpa told her he needed some energy back after a tiring day". Liu Mei wiggled her eyebrows.
"Ew...Liu-Mei! How come it doesn't look so 'pure' when it comes out of your mouth?" You chuckled exasperated.
Taehyung and Zhang fell onto their sofas, both looking worn out but happy.
"Thank you, everyone, for making my birthday rock. My friends loved it so much. They said my birthday was the coolest party of the year. Oh, my goodness! Hobi was so cool. My pink jet ski is the best." She gushed with excitement bubbling from her demeanor. She couldn't stop talking about her Hobi that surprised her. She even ran to Taehyung and gave him an anaconda hug. Your parents asked the guests to kindly post the pics of the BTS members a week after.
Liu Mei grinned," We love you, Ming! So, can we open your gifts now?"Liu Mei said a bit impatiently. She wants to see what Ming got from her peers and family.
Ming Mei grinned," I am going to open jiejies first because she is my sister..." Ming Mei spoke as she dragged the large gift bag closer.
Smiling at each other, you and Tae sat side by side with entwined hands. The lounge felt like it was echoing with excitement.
Ming Mei squealed when she saw all the Hobi merchandise in Seoul you bought for her months ago.
Liu Mei bought all BT21 themed scatter cushions for her room while our parents gifted her favorite web- and anime series.Shelby bought her a musical jewelry box; when you opened it, there were BTS figurines singing 'Spring Day'. Zhang bought her the latest iPad for her school assignments.
Taehyung got her a purple BTS Samsung phone with earphones. Her grandparents brought her the latest PlayStation console.
She got notebooks, clothes, a BTS album and poster, stationery, make-up kits, jewelry, PJs, money envelopes, and a BTS-themed lava lamp. Her friends also gave her gift vouchers. Jian, her best friend, gave her premium movie tickets. You wondered if it was for the two of them. You hope Jian doesn't turn out like Dylan.
You were all very excited about her vitality and cheer happiness. Shelby made some jasmine tea for the young adults before bed.
Ming had wanted Liu Mei to take her to bed as to read one of the new storybooks. She also want to exchange into her new Bts pj's, she also wanted to put her bt21 scatter cushions on top of her window sofa.
After a calm evening and good company, you all decided to go to bed because tomorrow is another fantastic day at the lake. The day was such a success that even your sister had the birthday party of her dreams with all those expensive presents that she had been longing for so long.
You are always grateful for everything you have got in life. You are very lucky to have your great family, a best friend called Liu Mei, a beautiful sister in law and loved ones, and the love of your life, Kim Taehyung.
You appreciate it so much when your family loves your soulmate just like you do. He loves them too and it even gets more fun since your dad shares the same nationality with him.
You smiled back at Taehyung as you both made a quiet ascent up the stairs with your hands intertwined, smiling softly into each other's eyes. His charms often struck you; this boy is not just alluring but illegally hot, it drives you crazy whenever he looks intensely into your eyes.
Your grandparents' room was situated downstairs. When you reach your bedroom door on the side of the east wing, Even though Liu-Mei is your roommate, now she is staying with Ming Mei instead. One could imagine if they were asleep because whenever Ming got excited, she became like an oversized rabbit hopping around.
While standing before Taehyung, she tenderly smiled, saying, "Did you enjoy today, sweetheart?" His fingers caressed your knuckles.
You smiled at his handsome face. "Yes, it was quite a day. I'm so glad you're going to stay for another two days. My family loves you a lot, but I take the cake."
Taehyung inhaled deeply as he bit his lip and looked down on your petite stature," Sweetheart, would you like to spend the night with me, please? I need your energy tonight. I missed you sleeping besides me."
You looked stunned at him. "Taelove!" you whispered-yelled."My baba will kill us. They know we haven't officially sealed our bond yet. and looked at what happened this afternoon. We almost crossed the line."
Taehyung's eyes sparkled as he licked his lips teasingly",Are you afraid?"
You looked at him with a deadpan expression. "N... .I'm afraid of my baba... My Ama will let you get away with everything. You are her new favourite."
Taehyung smirked as he grabbed your hand and chuckled softly, pulling you up against him."I spoke to your baba and told him we hadn't sealed the bond yet. Before we can marry civilly, we must be officially married with the system."
Then he looked down at your conflicted eyes and said, " We are both so ready for this baby. Why should we wait until Hawaii? Your house's atmosphere is perfect."
You pressed your lips together, looking up into his eyes with a lifted brow. "You sure it's not Zhang who put you up to this? He and Shelby's bond is already sealed. Are you sure that you are truly ready, Taelove?" You smirk up at him. You have a cunning suspicion that Zhang told him to push this issue.Your room was still in front you.His room was several feet away.
Taehyung chuckled."Of course, I've been ready since that day on the yacht." He waggled his eyebrows suggestively. You only grinned and playfully slapped him on the chest.
"Oh, my word! You so hormonal. " You mumble softly. Your soulmate had nerves or restraint as steel. You knew he would not be able to handle it as time passed.
Seokjin and Yoongi have already sealed the bond, and there is nothing to fear. Samiya and Ji-ho told you it would be an experience of a lifetime but when you get civilly married, the intimacy level will be on another level. No wonder the two soulmates can't resist their soulmates.
Taehyung smiled his famous boxy smile. " Your Appa said we have all the right to share a room because we are red-gold, and when he saw me looking so weary, he asked me if we invigorated the bond, and I didn't reply." He smirked; at least he hadn't told your dad that you already invigorated yourselves in the girl cave.
You laugh breathily." So, my Baba thinks that I'm too busy to give you energy... Taelove! You're so naughty. My Ama will tell him that she caught us on the top floor of the girl cave." You just shook your head.
"Alright, we don't have to go that far then. I am so thirsty for you, Yun, but why can't we at least cuddle tonight? We'll save the official sealing for our honeymoon, then. You better not holding out on me...okay"he lift one eyebrow warning lying.
You just smile and say softly," I wouldn't promise. That will be fine. Let me just refresh myself first, then I'll come."
His eyes lit up immediately with joy at the chance of having his soulmate sleeping within his arms once more. He missed you so much. You pecked him on the lips quickly and disappeared into your bedroom in order to get into the shower.
Taehyung grinned as he turned and went to freshen up in his room.
.....
The next morning...
The next day, the Lee family prepared for a peaceful lunch at the lake, a tradition that tightened their bond with one another. Earlier, your mum and grandma chatted animatedly as they put together various foods such as rice balls, kimchi, marinated beef, and fresh fruits for the men.
The men were hoping to get some Korean bullhead, flathead mullet, and also carp, which are known for their size and strength. They cast their lines silently; there was no need for talking; they all understood each other about how men like to enjoy mornings in silence.
"Sit down wherever you're comfortable," spoke the elderly men easily, telling stories about their youthful days full of love affairs' pains and marriages' weights they had borne during decades.
In Korean lakes, a cold and deep variety of fish used to live.
Granddad sat by himself in front of the boat, looking at the ripples. His face carried years of wisdom from ages past when he began speaking merely audibly among the morning breezes.
"You know, back then, searching for your soulmate wasn't merely loving someone. It involved working through thick and thin so as to build a life together. Marriage also means growing up with the one you love. It is my soulmate, my best friend, and sometimes even a rival."
"Your grandmother and I had been dating long before we got our soul marks." He told them, "She was kind of a 'rock'; everything always revolved around her existence. Marriage is not about finding someone who meets your perfect description; it is about finding the person who can perfectly live with your imperfections without changing them for anything. The system never gets it wrong."
Dad nodded to himself as he adjusted his fishing line. "Seulgi taught me patience," he said, glancing at Zhang and then at Taehyung. " Sometimes you have to wait for what seems like forever before getting something precious that you will never want to let go of again. Sometimes, the system doesn't make any mistakes at all. But when you get her, it's the most rewarding thing. It was tough for me to deny an arrangement marriage after I found Seulgi. I loved her from the moment we half-bonded. It caused me to be disowned by my Chaebol Korean family. But I love my wife and will never exchange her for someone else."
Zhang laughed quietly before throwing his line far away into the lake. "And sometimes," he added, "you get very lucky and catch someone way out of your league. I don't know how but the system paired me with this beautiful American Caucasian lady, whose eyes are bluer than any other human being on Earth."
His gaze fell on Taehyung, who smiled but remained absorbed in his own fishing activities.
Granddad turned his gaze to Taehyung for a second. "Taehyung, you are such a handsome boy," he said thoughtfully. "Did you ever think of being a model or an actor? You have that kind of a face."
Taehyung turned flustered. He always get comments about his looks even overseas and in polls. Which embarrassed him a lot even if it humor his hyungs.
Zhang and Dad exchanged amused glances, stifling their laughter. They hadn't told Granddad that Taehyung was already a global celebrity, known by millions of fans but only mentioned that he worked in the music business.
Slightly embarrassed, Taehyung laughed softly. "I do work in the entertainment industry; I suppose you could say I found a different path," he said, carefully choosing his words.
Zhang warned him not to tell his grandparents be cause they could be potentially dangerous at keeping secrets.
Granddad nodded, clearly not fully understanding but satisfied with the answer. "Whatever you do, do it well," he added with a smile. Then his tone became more serious. "Now, can you keep up with my granddaughter? Yunru is very fiery. She is extremely tiny but she has an immense spirit."
Zhang grinned, leaning back in the boat, "Yeah, Tae, you think you can handle her? She's sassy, stubborn, and never takes no for an answer. Did she tell how some boys used to bully her at school because they liked her cute height?"
Taehyung's expression softened and he glanced at the water, reflecting on his feelings,"Yeah, Yunru saved me," he said quietly, "There was a time when I was so lost after the illness and death of my grandmother and was struggling with deep depression. I felt like the world was closing in on me. But then she came into my life like a beacon of light. She pulled me out of the darkness and made me believe in love again. She made me want to be better and made me feel like I wasn't alone. I love her more than anything and I'd do anything to make her happy. My life without her would be unimaginable."
The older men were silent for a moment as they processed what he had said.
Granddad visibly moved and placed a hand on Taehyung's shoulder. "That is real love, son," he said warmly. "You have found something rare and precious in the redgold string. Do not ever let it go. You guys are great together."
Then granddad had a glint in his eye and asked, "So, when will you marry my granddaughter? I'm not getting any younger, you know. You and Zhang must get me my great-grandkids; I got married after I bonded with grandma."
Taehyung chuckled, a hint of nervousness in his laugh, "I'm working on it, Granddad," he replied." Yun and I talked about it for two years. We want to complete our postgraduate studies. I want to make sure everything's perfect for her. She deserves the world, and I'm going to give it to her."
The men smiled at each other, their bond growing stronger with every second that passed between them.
....
It was with the return of the men in the family from their early morning fishing trip that the preparations for the Lee family picnic became very busy.
Grandfather, Father, Zhang, and Taehyung had landed a large catch in the lake, which included largemouth bass, Korean rockfish, and catfish, all of them fit for barbecuing.
As they cleaned and marinated fish using granddad's top secret recipes on the patio, grandpa shared his recipe for making marinades with them. It is a combination of soy sauce, garlic and some honey that he uses to bring out the flavours from their catch of carp, rockfish, or bass. The young ladies got busy preparing other side dishes in the kitchen.
Even though it was just today,Ming Mei and Liu Mei had already set out their swimsuits since they were excited about a day by the lake. While your mother and grandmother were preparing hot side dishes the kitchen, Ming Mei was trying to win a PlayStation game as she twisted her small fingers feverishly over its controller.
The kitchen smelled delicious: fragrant scallion pancakes fried until crispy, served alongside 'bok choy' stir-fried with garlic cloves and spicy ' Sichuan tofu' cubes. Moreover, grandma stewed her signature pork belly flavoured with five spices——it would be eaten up at once!
Then your mum started steaming buns filled with minced pork mixed with chives entering into them. In addition, grandma deftly fried all kinds of seasonal vegetables in a wok under garlic seasoning and soy sauce that would join roasted veggies cooked by men later on an open grill outside. Bowls full of chow mein noodles along with egg--fried rice could also be found there that smelled exactly like soy sauced sesame oil.
Now, as they carried off steaming platters, your mum smiled, making a few a few adjustments to the massive picnic mat they had placed on the grass. Both of them were very harmonious during this entire time. Jetskis were already docked.
Later, they spread red and white chequered cloth over the main tables, pinning it down withwooden clips as the gentle breeze blew through the leaves.
They laid scattered bright cushions and arranged picnic chairs for those who wanted more comfort.
"This is the perfect spot to put it," she said while standing under this tree shade." It will be great for men grilling BBQs".
"Of course everyone should feel comfortable here .This is where we can put the pillows so that some of us could just lay down, and we'll place the picnic chairs around for others who prefer sitting upright. Did you bring enough beach towels?" your grandma asked.
.....
In the kitchen.
Shelby and Liu Mei, who were still in the kitchen, put the final touches on a couple of fresh salads——crispy cucumbers with black vinegar dressing,a tangy a tangy tomato-onion mixture anda refreshing a refreshing watermelon-mint-feta salad. Shelby was always quick to tease when she raised her eyebrows mischievously at my face.
"So, Yun, how was it spending the night with Taehyung in the guest room? You both seemed pretty cosy this morning." She teased, wiggling her eyebrows.
You gave her an anxious glance at the door; your face flushed deep pink. "Keep it down, will you?" You said this, glancing back towards the living room, making sure Ming mei is out of earshot,. "Small ears are still around."
Liu Mei giggled playfully, nudging you. "Yeah, you two seemed awfully close last night. Did you even sleep?"
You sassy grin," Oh don't worry about that. I've got it all under control. Besides, it's not like you two have any room to talk."
"Oh, come on!" laughed Shelby, "We're just teasing."
You tried to keep your voice calm but your pink blush gave you away, "He needed some energy, okay? We were so busy during the party that we didn't really get to spend much time together."
Liu Mei smirked knowingly at you while asking," Energy, huh so when are you guys going to seal it?"
You sighed but there was a sparkle in your eyes, "We're more than ready but we want to do it in Hawaii before my graduation; it's going to be special."
Shelby could not resist. "Hawaii...huh sounds romantic but you know, after the bond is sealed, there's no going back... in more than one way," she winked, her voice sultry.
You rolled her eyes but fired back with a sassy grin. "Please, Shelby. I think I can handle it just fine. But maybe you two should worry about keeping up with Zhang and Mike."
Shelby laughed, "Oh, Zhang is well educated in some areas."she waggled her brows suggestively.
"Ugh, just stop!" You chuckled, embarrassed.
The three of them burst into laughter; the sounds of it filled the kitchen as they continued to prepare for the picnic. The excitement was rising among them when they thought of jet skis that were waiting by the lake. Yunru had overcome her fear of riding one after Ming Mei's birthday and she was eager to ride with Taehyung again, feeling the thrill of wind and water as they zoomed across the lake together.
As the day warmed, the picnic took on a relaxed and joyful atmosphere. The men were at the grill, expertly barbecuing their fish, their laughter filling in for the scent of grilled fish. The family gathered under a tree to enjoy the food.
Ever the socialite, grandma called Shelby and Taehyung over to sit next to her and have a chat.
She looked admiringly at them. "Both of you are so pretty and good-looking. Shelby, tell me more about your family. Where are you from?"
Shelby smiled politely. "My ethnic background is actually Irish and Dutch but we live in California, USA. I also have a sister named Elle, who is studying law in her first year. I met Zhang at the university." she told your grandma about her family life.
Grandma nodded approvingly before turning to Taehyung. "And how about you, young man? What do you do for a living?"
Taehyung responded humbly as usual, "I'm an entertainer, specifically a singer. I stay in Seoul but im from Daegu."
Her voice was very candid now, and Grandma made a slight squinting motion with her eyes, looking intensely at him, "Are you even good? Because of the singers these days, all they do is scream! Can you make any money off of that? Otherwise, with your handsome appearance, becoming a male escort could always be an option for extra income!"
Yunru's mum almost choked on tea, staring at Grandma in shock. She was not expecting your grandmother to be so blunt. "AMA You can't say things like that. My goodness, it's embarrassing!" She scolded her oblivious mother gently.
"Taetae...don't mind my mom...she is very straightforward " your mom apologized.
But Taehyung, clearly amused, smiled warmly, finding the older woman's straightforward nature endearing. She reminded him so much of his late grandmother, whose memory still lingered in his heart.
Yunru and Liu Mei were giggling softly, watching Taehyung struggle to keep a straight face.
Liu-Mei whispered, "I wouldn't mind paying for his service."
You look shocked at her and nudge her shoulders as she giggles loudly.
"What the hell, Liu-Mei? Taelove is not for sale. Everything you see in him belongs to me!" You smugly uttered.
Liu-Mei smirked,"Okay jealous monkey. But with all due respect, even grandma finds him 'hot'"
You just scrunched up your nose."Ew, gross".
.....
Having eaten from the arrayed of BBQ buffet to their satisfaction, the young adults ran towards the lake, wanting to cool themselves off by swimming. Then they got on the jetskis'. Behind Taehyung, you got onto the jet ski and put your arms around his waist as you whizzed across the water surface with your hair blowing in the wind.
The elderly watched from their picnic chairs and admired young people around in the water and enjoying themselves. Shelby was at the back of Zhang and Liu-Mei and Ming Mei sat behind her on her adorable jetski gift.
Around noon, Your dad suggested that the young adults get some drinks aboard while the mothers went inside to finish cutting the rest of the birthday marble cake and prepare some sweets for later.
Grandma beckoned You and Taehyung to come closer. "Go spend some time on the boat with Zhang and Shelby. Soulmates must always be together. Taeboy, don't be shy. You can smooch my granddaughter anytime but I will not look," she grinned , while your mum just rolled her eyes. By then, Taehyung was red around his ears.
You smiled at him before doing exactly what Grandma had told you.Taehyung turned back and wrapped your waist. You snaked your arms over his shoulders, giving him a sweet kiss full of promise. Then Grandma started to clap gleefully while Ming-Mei made some gagging sounds nearby.
Taehyung just grinned with a dazed expression, snaking his arms around your waist and walking to the boat.
The boat was peacefully anchored in such a way that one could see beautiful, calm waters. As you all lounged on deck, you snuggled next to Taehyung, sipping on Chinese sodas occasionally while nibbling at sweet candies.
The conversations were very smooth, with Dad and Granddad giving pieces of advice about life, love, and family issues based on their childhood experiences. It was a rare moment of relaxation for them all because they all felt content and happy.
.....
Meanwhile, at the house...
Suddenly, the peaceful atmosphere was interrupted when, from the house, the ladies noticed a car pulling up the driveway. Your mum squinted to get a better look, her face paling as she recognised the vehicle. "Liu Mei, it's Dylan."
Liu Mei's eyes widened in alarm. She jumped up from her seat, panic flashing across her face. "Tell him Yun is not home! But, oh no, he can probably hear us out here. but the boat is right by the backyard. He will see it from the drive way."
The laughter from the boat had indeed carried to the house and through the panoramic lounge windows.
Dylan spotted the group on the lake but moved to the front entrance door. Liu Mei smiled tightly because she was nearing opening the door. She greeted him politely and gestured him inside, her eyes wary. Still very much annoyed about his antics.
He just nodded at Liu-Mei and quickly made his way inside the entrance room, carrying two huge gift bags. When he reached your mum, he greeted her politely but his expression was tense.
"Mrs. Lee, I just came back from the Philippines, and my mum told me that yesterday was Ming Mei's birthday. I brought her and your gift." He grinned.
Your mum smiled and thanked him politely.
He paused, his eyes narrowing slightly as he scanned the lake through the open lounge windows, "Is Yunru here? I'd like to speak with her." but his eyes already saw the happy group on the boat, laughing.
Yunru's mum exchanged a worried glance with Liu Mei, both of them filled with anxiety as they watched Dylan's gaze lock onto the boat. He saw the inevitable.
His expression shifted, jealousy and anger twisted his features as he saw how Yunru gently and lovingly caressed a guys cheek, the two of them smiling and sharing a tender kiss. Taehyung, unaware of the approaching storm, smiled at Yunru and deepened the kiss with her arms around his shoulders. She then snuggled onto his chest, a huge grin on her serene face.
Dylan's face was filled with envy and anger. The sight was too much for him. Without a word, he rushed out the patio door, heading straight for the dock where the boat was , determination in his stride.
Your mum yells, "Dylan! Oh my gosh...wait!"
Liu-Mei looked petrified. "Aunt Seulgi, he is going to cause some havoc. Taehyung is not going to put up with it." but they only stood by the window watching, not wanting to get involved; the men could handle that confrontation. Liu Mei looked more worried, and Ming also jumped up and stood next to her.
"Whats wrong with Dylan!' Ming Mei asked confused.
Your mom just clique her tongue," Nothing go and play!" She shoved Ming towards the lounge.
.......
On the boat, You looked up, your heart skipping a beat, as you saw Dylan's determined strides. You suddenly froze in Taehyung's arms, making him notice Dylan marching across the landscaped lawn, his eyes fixed on you. You could feel the tension in Taehyung's demeanour and breathing.
Oh my goodness! This is bad. His eyes narrowed behind the sunglasses, watching Dylan carefully.
Zhang's breath hitched as he was the first to react, standing up abruptly. "Stay here," he muttered to the others, heading to the dock to intercept Dylan. But it was too late—Dylan was already too close.
Zhang blocked Dylan's path at the boat entrance, his voice low and firm, "You know you're not welcome here, Dylan. This is family time, and you're interrupting," Zhang is still salty about the evil video incident that hurt his sister and her soulmate.
Dylan ignored Zhang's warning, his eyes darting past him to you and the handsome stranger.Taehyung had slipped on his Dior sunglasses and the bucket hat that Yunru's dad had given him; his expression was unreadable, but his eyes were narrowed beneath the glasses.
You could sense the shift in Taehyung's emotions, the tension rising. You placed a calming hand on his arm, whispering, and you could feel the shift in Taehyung's energy, "Relax, Tae. Let's not make a scene. Don't let him get to you. I love you."
Dylan, bowing slightly out of respect, greeted the men on the boat, his voice cool and polite, "Good afternoon, Mr. Lee, Granddad. I'm sorry for the intrusion, but I need to talk to Yunru."
His gaze flickered to Taehyung, who remained silent, his jaw tight. Dylan's posture was rigid, his eyes betraying his readiness for a confrontation, "It won't take long. I just need to speak with her. She is still my best friend, Zhang."
Zhang stepped forward, hands folded across his torso, his stance protective, "Whatever you have to say, you can say it from here. Yunru doesn't need to hear it. You caused her enough pain. Just leave. Why don't you just text her?"
The tension hung thick in the air, and the peaceful afternoon was shattered by the unexpected confrontation. All eyes were on Dylan, waiting to see what he would do next.
The serene atmosphere by the lake was shattered in an instant. Dylan, had a severe look of irritation etched across his face, as he forcefully shoved Zhang aside, causing him to stumble back in surprise. Ignoring the startled gasps from the family, Dylan sprinted towards the boat entrance, where everyone of you had risen to your feet, stunned by his sudden, aggressive behaviour.
Dylan, usually composed, was now storming towards Taehyung with murderous intent, his eyes filled with something dark and unsettling on the very handsome boy.
Your father was the first to react, rising from his seat with a stern expression, "Dylan," he called out, his voice firm, "this is our family time. If you need to speak with Yunru, you can call her later. This is her special time with her soulmate, and you're ruining our day."
But Dylan didn't seem to hear him; his gaze was locked on Taehyung, who was now standing protectively in front of you. Taehyung's presence was imposing, his usually gentle features now hardened with determination. You felt a shiver of fear as Dylan's eyes darkened further.
The weird look in Dylan's eyes terrified you; it was as if something dark had taken hold of him, something unrecognisable.
Taehyung's low and menacing voice warned Dylan, "Get lost. My soulmate doesnt need you here."
But Dylan wasn't backing down. Zhang stepped forward, his voice was rising with anger as he confronted Dylan, "You need to leave her alone, Dylan. Accept that she's moved on and that she's in love with her soulmate now. Concentrate on your own life."
Dylan's face twisted in a disbelief and deep anger, as he looked at the most handsome guy, not even recognising him as a celebrity but as the boy who took you from him. It didn't matter to Dylan who Taehyung was in this world; he was just that obstacle standing between them.
Taehyung, however, moved forward undeterred, his voice filled with dangerous calmness, "Leave us alone."
Dylan seethed through his teeth, "Who are you to command me! She... Is... Mine!" He was only fixated on Taehyung, breathing heavily, like each breath added more fuel to the fire building inside.
Without warning, Dylan lunged at Taehyung, shoving him violently. The world seemed to slow down as Taehyung lost his balance, stumbling over the side of the boat and crashing into the water below. The splash sound was almost deafening, followed by your gasp of shock and Shelby's horrified screams.
Choas erupted, with your granddad standing silently in stunned disbelief. He had known Dylan since he was a baby—what had gone so wrong with him? It felt like watching a different person—someone who had lost touch with reality completely. His actions wasn't healthy. Almost the symptoms of schizophrenia.
"Taehyung!" you cried out, rushing to the railing. You leant over, desperately reaching out for him, "Are you okay?" Shelby was also looking over the rail.
Taehyung, now shoulder-deep in the water, coughed and nodded, his eyes still locked on Dylan even as his bucket hat floated away and his expensive glasses sank out of sight. He throw his hair backwards that was starting to curl. He looked like a model out of a commercial.
Before you could react further, chaos erupted behind you.
Zhang grabbed Dylan, trying to push him away from the edge, but Dylan was frenzied, struggling wildly. Dylan's hand shot out and grabbed your arm, pulling you towards him. You cried out as he pulled you into his embrace, his grip painfully tight around your waist as he lifted you off the ground.
"Dylan, stop! Put me down; you're hurting me!" You screamed, your voice rising above the commotion. Just then, a commanding voice rang out, cutting through the chaos.
"Enough!" Your father's voice boomed with authority, making everyone to freeze. Dylan's eyes widened in shock at the fierceness in your dad's tone. Slowly, his grip on you loosened, and you stepped back, your body trembling with a with fiery anger. You glared at Dylan, your voice cold and filled with finality.
"We're done, Dylan. You've crossed the line—humiliating yourself and me in front of my family." You paused, the words that you throw at him was emotional. "This is it. We're no longer friends, and I never want to see you again,"you yelled out in fury, tears streaming down your cheeks.
Without hesitation, you balled your small fist and punched Dylan square in the nose. The sharp crack of impact echoed as everyone stood in stunned silence, even Zhang, who had been ready to jump in again.
Dylan stumbled back, clutching his nose in shock, while Taehyung, still in the water, couldn't help but chuckle at the strangeness of it all, but he loved the punch his fiesty girl dished out.
Taehyung was still paddling, shoulder-deep, his bucket hat floating away, while his sunglasses sank beneath the surface. Gone. You inhaled deeply, gave Dylan the stinkiest look, while your heart was pounding, and without a second thought, you climbed onto the boat's sofa and leapt into the lake.
The cool water enveloped you as you swam swiftly towards Taehyung, who was laughing and stunned despite the tension still lingering in the air. When you reached him, he pulled you close, his lips finding yours in a passionate kiss that made everything else disappear. Truly showing Dylan whom you truly belonged to.
From the boat and the house, you could hear excited shouts, but they were distant, drowned out by the erractic beat of your heart and Taehyung's breathy laughter. You couldn't stop kissing him, feeling the wet warmth of his body against yours. It was as if the weight of the world was lifting as if all the tension dissolved in the water.
You were so scared that Dylan would cause trouble for Taehyung if the latter lost his cool. Dylan can make it tough for Tae if he knows he is a celeb. Their fight will go viral.
Meanwhile, your dad, ever the strong figure, looked at the distraught Dylan, his arm snaking around the Dylans' shoulders.
With a gentle but firm grip, he led him down from the boat to the dock. Dylan's shoulders shook with silent sobs as your dad spoke to him softly about it's time to let you go, guiding him away from the chaos he had caused. Dylan couldn't believe that Taehyung won that moment.
The way you've kissed each other in the lake broke his heart into shards. He can't fathom that this guy disrespected his friendship with you. You promised him that you would always be together.
Zhang, standing nearby, looked flabbergasted at how the day had spiralled out of control, his mind trying to make sense of it all. What the hell is wrong with Dylan? He couldn't believe Dylan could do that to Taehyung. Gosh! Luckily, Taehyung didn't hurt himself. Dylan would've been sued by Taehyung's agency.
But all you could focus on was Taehyung, who was your everything in that moment. As you continued to hold each other close, his hand on your wet hair pulled you closer as he passionately kissed you without restraint, surrounded by the calm of the lake and the love that connected you.
