7. Sweet

The boy woke up the next morning, as Jimin.  Taehyung eyed at the crowd of students, reminding himself again that he was Jimin.  Internally, the boy felt moments where he wanted to help others whenever he saw someone struggling.  It was something he felt even as himself, but as Jimin he felt that even stronger.  As if it was automatically in Jimin's muscles, Taehyung assisted some of the students with their heavy load of books without hesitation.

Midway of heading into class, he bumped into Jungkook.  The younger smiled, seeing Jimin's face.  "Jimin!  Where you going?"

"Class?" Taehyung hesitated on the answer before realizing he was supposed to go somewhere with Jungkook.  "Oh right..."

Jungkook giggled at the older, assuming that he was joking.  "Don't tell me you forgot.  Let's go." He tugged onto Taehyung's sleeve, pulling him to the direction of the cafeteria.  The older followed, still confused as to what they were gonna do.

"You okay, Jimin?  You look a little nervous." Jungkook glanced at Taehyung, which cause him to loosen his shoulders a bit.

"Hey, I'm just really excited." Taehyung crossed his fingers, hoping that 'excited' was the right word.  What in the world are we gonna do?  Why is Jungkook constantly smiling at me?  Taehyung's mind started racing at all the possibilities.  It was sketchy for two students to skip school.... perhaps Jimin had something romantic planned for Jungkook?

Taehyung followed Jungkook to the cafeteria, where a box was sitting on the counter with a slot on top.  Beside it, was a stack of tickets.  Prom tickets, as Taehyung noticed.

That's when it hit him.  RIGHT! Jimin was the leader of student council.  Of course.  He and Jungkook were selling prom tickets together.  That's explains why we're skipping class.

"I printed some the prom tickets before you got here." Jungkook proudly smiled, pointing at the stack.

"Gee, thanks Jungkook." Taehyung's heart bubbled at the younger's kindness.  "That should be good enough for now."

Taehyung grabbed the tickets on his hand as Jungkook held up the money box.  "Shall we go sell them, now?"

"Sure!" Jungkook piped up.  Strangely, as the older realized, there were just the two of them selling the prom tickets.  Where were the other student council members?

Taehyung reached into his pocket for Jimin's phone, which was vibrating.  A message.

Eyeing the message, he realized it was one of the student council members responding to Jimin's request of selling tickets.  "Sorry, Jimin.  Gotta study for the exam tomorrow."

Scrolling through his texts, he noticed all the council members were too busy as well, leaving Jimin all alone selling tickets.  Well, not exactly alone.  He noticed a text that stood out.  Jungkook's kindhearted words responded.

Jungkook

hey, Jimin

i know we're not that close n stuff

but thanks for offering me a seat during lunch (but taehyung would prefer i sit with him when he gets back from school haha)

Jimin

Jungkook

i heard that you needed some help with selling prom tickets?

i was wondering if i could help out ^^ i've got plenty of time

Jimin

how did you know about student council stuff?

yes i would totally need as much help as I could get!

thank you so much...

Jimin had always been the one helping people out, the "nice" guy.  Little did Taehyung know, the boy was attempting to finish off all the student council work by himself if it weren't for Jungkook.  The boy couldn't help but felt pity for Jimin.

Just when the two reached the hallway, first class was over and a crowd of students were heading their way.  "Prom tickets?  Anyone?" Jungkook yelled over the loud voices.  Several students got out their wallets and purses, deciding rather quick.  Others, were a little hesitant.

"Guys.  If you ask someone out, it's half price." Taehyung remembered what the banners said.  Honestly, he thought it was a good idea and it did encourage people to

"Dude.  Nobody's going to prom.  Shut up." One of the girls responded rudely.

"Okay, sorry." Taehyung replied quietly, backing away.  After only being Jimin for half a day, Taehyung realized several students being rude to him, using Jimin's kind personality as an excuse to bullying him.  It angered Taehyung that they were behaving that way and really hoped Jimin could at least care for himself for once.  Jimin was just... too selfless.

Taehyung jot down several names of his classmates down on his list before handing them their tickets and receiving the money.  Afterwards, his eyes shifted to Jungkook.  The younger seemed to be sitting down for a rest.  Taehyung decided to join along before his head stopped himself.  I should get us something to drink.

The older came back with banana milk from the cafeteria stand.  Jungkook's face brightened at the sight of the boy holding the beverages.  Taehyung sat next to Jungkook, handing him the drink.  "Here."

"How did you know?  I love banana milk!" Jungkook scratched his head shyly.  "Thanks, Jimin hyung!"

"It was just a guess." Taehyung lied.  Only Taehyung himself knew that Jungkook loves banana milk.  "How many tickets have you sold so far?"

"Fifteen or so...?" Jungkook said before slurping.  "What about you?"

"Wow, that's a lot!  I only managed to get five...." Taehyung felt the weirdest urge to rest his head on Jungkook's lap as he bravely did so.  Skin-ship was clearly the way Jimin showed closeness and trust towards others.

Naturally, without showing much of a reaction, Jungkook let the older rest on his lap as if he was comfortable with it.  Jungkook slurped through the straw.  The boy then placed the box down.  "There's something I want to ask you, Jimin." Jungkook played with his fingers, looking shyly at Taehyung.

The older felt flustered suddenly from the younger's tone.  Is Jungkook... about to confess to me?  "S-sure.  You can tell me."

The younger leaned close to Taehyung's ear as the boy felt his breath tickle.  Taehyung's heart started pounding, atmosphere somehow growing warm.

"Could... I perhaps buy two tickets?" Jungkook asked softly.

Taehyung eye contacted the younger, who was smiling shyly at him.  Was the boy hinting something?  "O-of course you can!" Taehyung blurted, handing him two tickets immediately from his stack.

To Taehyung's surprise, the younger's cheeks started turning rosy pink, looking away.

Taehyung felt the tension between them, as if Jungkook was waiting for him to say something.  Is Jungkook expecting me to ask who the ticket is for?  Or do I already know who it's for?  Taehyung went back and forth between the two questions, not knowing what to say next.  He internally cursed to himself.

Jungkook slowly handed Jimin one of the tickets in his hand with a drunkly grin on his face.  The older couldn't tell if Jungkook's twinkling eyes were at him or not.  Is Jungkook asking me to the prom?  After all the guys Taehyung had impersonated... Jimin was the one Jungkook had a crush on.  Now that Taehyung thought about it, that was probably the reason Jungkook helped Jimin in the first place...

"A-are you asking me to the prom?"  Taehyung stuttered.

Jungkook paused, eyes staring at Jimin in confusion.  "No, Jimin... I thought we talked about this?"

Taehyung snapped out of trance.  "What?"

Jungkook giggled, as if Taehyung had said a joke.  "I'm planning to ask my crush to the prom, remember?"

"I'm you're crush?" Taehyung sputtered.  This was it.  After all the searching, Taehyung finally found the person Jungkook loved.  He could finally be in the shoes of that one guy Jungkook would end up holding hands with the rest of his life.

Jungkook laughed harder.  "No!  C'mon, Jimin.  You're misunderstanding.  I'm pretty sure my crush already has a ticket.  I'm just giving this one to you."

"Oh...." Taehyung laughed nervously, realizing that Jimin wasn't his crush.  "Then why are you giving me a prom ticket?"

Jungkook shrugged.  "You said few days ago that you didn't want to go cause you have no friends or a partner to go with.  So, I figured you could come with me as friends... so you won't feel so lonely."

Taehyung's heart softened at the kind gesture.  The older felt relieved that Jungkook was there to take care of Jimin.  Being friendless was the worst feeling possible when it comes to prom.  He threw himself into Jungkook's arms.  Luckily, Jungkook was able to easily catch Jimin's light weight.  "T-thank you, Jungkookie.  You're the kindest person ever."  Taehyung genuinely thanked the younger in place of Jimin.  Although the real Jimin wasn't there to receive the ticket, Taehyung was sure Jimin would say the same.

Jungkook beamed.  "No problem, hyung!"

Just then, an idea sparked into Taehyung's head.  An idea only Jimin would think of.  "Oh!  I know!  Why don't we go to a dog cafe?  Just to show my thanks to you."

Jungkook gasped, face lighting up.  "A dog cafe?!  Hell yes!"

"Jungkook-ah.  Eat as much as you want, okay?  I'll pay all of it!" Taehyung said as the two were surrounded by puppies.  The older noticed how easily he said those words as if Jimin would've said the same out of habit.

Jungkook picked up a corgi and cradled it in his arms, he looked at Taehyung with slight guilt.  "Really?  T-thanks, hyung!"

Taehyung smiled, rustling the younger's hair.  "Anything for you."

The two boys went back to their table to order and eat.  Jungkook's eyes seem to drift to a couple sitting on the table next to them.  They seem to be having a casual date, until the guy started to kneel on one leg and proposing to the woman.

"Maria, will you marry me and forever share our moments together?" The man asked, his eyes twinkling with hope.

"Yes!  Of course!"  The girl squealed, hugging the man with excitement before he managed to get the ring out of the box.  Startled, the ring fell off the box, rolling on the floor.

The man gasped, trying not to loose the ring while embracing the woman.  Taehyung, who was watching this, immediately got up to help pick up the ring that rolled close to his feet.  "You dropped this."

"Thanks." The man who just proposed smiled, taking the ring from Taehyung's hand.

"Congratulations, by the way." Taehyung said with a bright and polite smile.  Taehyung isn't usually the type to mind other's business, but Jimin's body immediately said those words.

The man chuckled.  "It's really the best thing that's happened to me.  Well, other than the other time I asked her to the high school prom many years ago."

His girl giggled, nudging him playfully.  "Can't believe we've been together for so long."

The man gently slid the ring on her finger, unable to stop smiling.  "Yeah.  Can't wait to slow dance with you again, darling."  They shared a cute little kiss.

Taehyung exchanged a few kind words with the couple before going back to his table.  He noticed Jungkook was watching him from earlier.

Just then, Taehyung spotted a stray tear drop from Jungkook's eye.  Quickly, as if it was Jimin's automatic reflex, Taehyung instantly sat on the younger's end of the table to check on him.  Indeed, the boy was crying.  "Jungkookie?  Are you alright?"

"Oh, shit... sorry."  Jungkook hurriedly wiped away his tears from the sleeve of his shirt.  "Just... thinking about some things..."

Taehyung patted Jungkook's back.  "Aw.  It's alright.  You can tell me.  Maybe I can help."

Jungkook shook his head.  "I heard what the couple said... about how they used to go to the prom together.  And that just reminds me of my prom.  I'm just scared... that he probably hates me..."

"Who?"

"My crush...  I don't know if he'll say yes if I asked him..."

Taehyung raised his eyebrows, realizing how scared Jungkook was.  "Why?"

Jungkook sniffled.  "I really thought he'd be the one asking me... but now I just feel like he's trying to avoid me.  I dunno, maybe I'm just being paranoid."  His eyes twinkled from the tears, his nose turning red.  "I really wanted to date him for a while but I just never dared to ask him... I dunno, I just wish I could spend my future with him..."

The older shook his head.  How could someone possibly try to avoid innocent little Jungkook?  Taehyung couldn't understand how one would even do something like that.  "Hey, buddy.  Cheer up.  I'm sure he'd love to go to the prom with you."  Though, the older couldn't help but feel bad for the younger.

"Really?"  Jungkook rounded his eyes in curiosity.

"Of course!  Anyone would be lucky to have you as a partner."  Taehyung admitted.  "Don't be scared to tell them how you feel, alright?  And if anything goes wrong, at least you got me right?  We could go to the prom as buddies!" He automatically poked Jungkook's cheeks, finding them squishy.

Jungkook giggled, instantly feeling better from Taehyung's words.  "You know what, you're right. I'm gonna ask him tomorrow!"

Taehyung raised his eyebrows, not expecting Jungkook to decide so boldly.  At the same time, he was rooting for the kid.  Whoever it is... the guy must be the luckiest dude ever.

Slight disappointment hit the pit of Taehyung's stomach, knowing that the dude was probably not him.
