21⋆Cheers
A/N: it's time for some fun and party in this angsty story - are you guys ready? ;D The idea for this chapter popped into my mind very randomly, as pretty much every other ideas for this story. My brain just keeps messing with the ideas I had already planned out lol. But well, LET'S GO! ~
✦
"Where are you going?" Wooyoung looks surprised, as he opens the door to the apartment, at the same time as Yeosang is about to do the same from the inside.
"Just out?" Yeosang replies with a shrug, moving aside to let Wooyoung step inside.
The younger raises a brow, while he slowly looks back and forth between Yeosang, and San who is standing next to him - both dressed very nicely, hair styled perfectly and a subtle makeup to enhance their very best facial features.
"Together?" he then asks. "All dressed up. Without me?"
"Mhm," San smiles, grabbing his jacket from the hanger on the wall. "Don't wait up!"
Seeing the confusion on the blonde's face, makes Yeosang question if he in fact was aware of his other two friends not getting along. But in the end, Wooyoung did make the wise choice of pretending everything was fine - feeding into it would only have caused more trouble.
The evening breeze outside feels lovely, after spending all day in bed with a hangover hammering through his head. He woke up earlier with way too many things running around in circles in his mind - from the news about Seonghwa's divorce, to his drunk decision of kissing San.
But the latter doesn't seem to bother him that much anymore, and it somehow made them finally bury the hatchet - although the new friendship still needs time and cautious steps from both sides. And the event they're suddenly on their way to, together, may be far from that.
"You sure you want to do this?" Yeosang asks, looking over his shoulder at San, while they're trying to catch a cab from the side of the road.
"Yeah, pretty sure," the younger replies, nodding his head. "I need to get out more. Won't find Mr. Perfect if I slump around the apartment everyday."
Yeosang nods back, not quite sure how much he wants to do it himself though. The idea sounded good in his head an hour ago, while they talked things over and San apologized for the hurtful things he said at their last fight - but now, Yeosang feels more like staying in bed for the night.
San has recently made an article on interior design for a major interior magazine, and has therefore been invited to some big, fancy party tonight. Apparently he never even considered going, as he was too stuck in the same loop of playing boardgames with Wooyoung, while hoping he would love him back. But something seems to have woken a spark inside of him now, and San is more than ready to get out there - and meet a man.
And free food and drinks is something Yeosang couldn't really decline - and maybe some cute guys will be there too. Even if he had just decided not to look so desperately for love anymore, it doesn't hurt just to look at guys. Especially not, if they're really cute.
"Well. Let's go party then!"
✦
It's been a while since Yeosang has found himself in such a fancy event, and he soon realizes how little he has missed it. Even dressed as fancily as he could think of himself, he still feels like he doesn't fit in at all. San however, seems to enjoy himself - or the free bar at least. But it is clear that the blonde isn't quite used to drinking, and he soon sways around while Yeosang is trying not to laugh at all his drunk movements.
"You good, San?" Yeosang laughs, as San returns from the bar with two new drinks.
"I'm more than good, I am feeling great! And did you see that cute bartender? I mean, I'm sorry Jesus but I might sin tonight!"
San dumps down next to Yeosang, at the small table they have found near the bar, and the blonde wiggles his brows while he keeps blabbering about the dark haired bartender - the forth guy already that he has been eating up with his eyes.
"I must admit, I never knew you were this much fun," Yeosang chuckles, taking a sip of whatever cocktail San has brought him - what it is, is uncertain, but it is indeed strong.
"I've always been fun! You just never gave me a chance!" San points out.
"Can't deny that. But you didn't give me one either!" And for once, the truth in his words doesn't hurt anymore, and Yeosang manages to say them with a smile on his face.
"Cheers to second chances then," San says, lifting his glass.
Their glasses clink against each other, and with the music flowing through the room, Yeosang's mood gradually starts to get better - and he now understands why Wooyoung has always loved hanging out with San. Maybe everyone does deserve a second chance. But just as the thought runs through his head, Yeosang is in for a big surprise.
"Yeosang?" The voice calling out his name is deep, familiar - too familiar.
He should've put the pieces together - the name of the magazine San had made that article for did ring a bell, but Yeosang couldn't remember why. But now he remembers the name being mentioned across the dining table several times, as it is owned by the company his former boyfriend works for.
Yeosang turns in his seat, slowly and with his heart in his throat. Sure enough, there he is - looking so effortlessly perfect as he used to. While his palms start to feel warm, Yeosang tries to swallow the lump that is building up in his throat - scared of what will happen next. Is he going to be kicked out now?
"Lucas..." Yeosang's voice turns into a whisper, as he feels like the air is punched right out of him. But the surprise doesn't end there, and he is ready to die when his eyes drift to the person standing behind his ex-boyfriend. "And... Jun?"
The last words spoken between them are storming through Yeosang's memory, and the way Lucas so angrily had looked at him - as if they never loved each other, is burning in his mind. But to his big surprise, Lucas doesn't look angry at all.
"It's been a while," the older simply says. "How are you doing?"
"I... I'm good... Thanks... You?"
"Good too. Thanks."
Not even the loud music playing through the speakers, and the hundreds of people talking around them, is enough to cover up the awkward silence that happens when none of them seems to know what to say next. Yeosang nervously looks around the room, his body starting to heat up from the uncomfortable situation he suddenly is caught in the middle of.
When San clears his throat, louder than he needs to, it's like a lifeline being throw in Yeosang's direction, and he finally keep his head clear enough to form coherent sentences again.
"Oh! This is my friend San," he says, gesturing towards San next to him, and he manages to catch the quick frown Lucas makes at the word "friend". The older surely has heard Yeosang complain an endless amount of times about how annoying San was.
"Friend, or boyfriend?" Jun asks with a chuckle, pushing his dark hair back and making sure to expose his long neck, which immediately makes Yeosang look away with his cheeks blushing up.
"Oh, no no no no no! We are just friends!" San suddenly cuts in, waving his hand around while he looks almost scared of Jun's question.
"Well, would you guys like a drink? We were just heading for the bar, let us grab you something as well?" Lucas then offers.
The glass in front of Yeosang is still more than half-full, while San's is almost empty already - it does give Yeosang the perfect excuse to decline the offer though. Or so he thought.
"We have, actually but thanks-" he starts off, but only two seconds later, his glass has been picked up by San who empties it right away.
"Oh no, would you look at that. All empty." San exclaims, with big eyes and a small pout. He then proceeds to push the empty glasses aside, and leans in across the table with one hand resting under his chin. "I'll take a Martini. Dirty."
"Oh my god..." Yeosang whispers, hiding his embarrassed face with his left hand.
Lucas smiles and nods at San's request, while his eyes lingers maybe a second too long - and Yeosang briefly dares to believe he at least can feel safe himself tonight. But that is only until his own eyes meet Jun's. Those bright eyes, which have always had such an easy time to lure him back in. And compared to him and Lucas, the two of them didn't leave things on bad terms - Jun had left Korea to go back to work, and due to Yeosang's rule of him being the only one to contact the older and not the other way around, things had just died out by themselves.
But with Jun, will things ever stay truly dead?
"Holy shit!" San squeals, tugging Yeosang's sleeve as soon as the two older guys have left the table. "He is so fine! Can't believe you used to date him!"
"Which one?" Yeosang blurts out, in a moment of not thinking before speaking, and he immediately regrets his words.
"Wha-... What do you mean, which one? You've dated both of them? Oh my God. I am so jealous!" San dramatically slams his back against the chair, and holds his hand to his chest.
Despite just meeting two of his exes, the thing that surprises Yeosang the most tonight, is definitely still how lively and fun San actually is. And how embarrassing he can be too.
"Can't believe you've been drinking all those drinks, and you're still this damn thirsty!" Yeosang laughs, shaking his head, while San is glaring at him with a offended look on his face. "Well... If you want to go for one of them, and he wants you too - it's fine with me. I don't care."
"Isn't that a little weird though? If I hook up with one of your exes?"
While San speaks, his eyes keep moving towards the bar, and Yeosang's stomach is starting to hurt from all the laughter he is trying to keep inside. And although he has had his moments of missing Lucas, seeing him again has been like an unspoken closure between them. If Lucas feels the same way, Yeosang can't see any problems of San hooking up with him.
"I think we're already past the weird part, when we kissed last night..." Yeosang then says, nudging San's elbow to gain his attention.
"True..." the blonde replies, slowly turning to look at him. "And hey, it's your own fault that I'm acting all thirsty now! I was doing fine in my dry-spell until you kissed me, and reminded me how nice it is!"
"Well, I apologize for that then. I promise, I will never kiss you again!"
"Thank you. And you better not, because we both know it wouldn't work out anyway!" San raises a brow, and Yeosang nods as he understands what San means right away.
"Yeah... I see your point..." he says, and from the corner of his eye he sees Jun and Lucas coming towards them with a new round of drinks. "But don't worry. Those guys, are 100% tops."
San is soon busy being very fascinated with hearing about Lucas' job, and pretty much everything else about him, whole Yeosang tries to stay as invisible as possible - but Jun sure is making it hard for him. No matter how much Yeosang wants to deny the attraction, it is simply impossible, but he still forces himself to act like he doesn't care.
First of all, he had promised himself to only look tonight, and nothing else - and second, his last boyfriend is sitting right across the table, and despite Lucas seeming quite interested in San, it wouldn't be appropriate for Yeosang to even pay attention to Jun.
That doesn't seem to hold Jun back however.
"Yeosang? Care to join me outside for a smoke?" the older offers, and the glowing spark in his eyes are making Yeosang's knee weak once again.
"Actually," Lucas promptly cuts in, and the sudden attention on Yeosang makes him flinch in his seat. "I'd like to have a word with you first, Yeosang..."
