SEASON TWO, EPISODE FIFTEEN
Tall Tales

· · ─────── ·✦ʚɞ✦· ─────── · ·

Emelie was sitting on a park bench by the beach, the wind was blowing in her hair as she kept her eyes closed until she was startled, Night Moves by Bob Seger playing from her phone, she pulled it from her pocket and saw that Dean was calling her. "Hey Dean," Emelie greeted her older brother. "Hey, Millie. We got a job and we need your help," Dean informed her, she sighed and stood up from the bench. "Where?" Emelie asked before receiving the location, she bid him farewell and approached her motorbike, pulling on her helmet before starting up her bike and taking off in the direction she needed to go in order to meet up with her brothers.

Emelie had been working on her own hunts since John's death, she carried the guilt of his passing heavily and with every demonic encounter she is reminded of his deal with Yellow Eyes; She should be dead, not him. And so not wanting to face her brothers, Emelie set off on her own path to hunt even though Sam and Dean didn't like her hunting on her own so they checked in on her often as did Bobby who understood her view despite the fact that he would have done the same thing as John if it meant saving Emelie or the boys. But it was clear that Dean needed her help with the job and she wouldn't disappoint her brothers.

Emelie sat heavily amused on the bed watching the tension between her brothers, it had been a questionable hunt so far but Emelie was left feeling like she was watching a reality TV show. Sam is sitting on the couch looking through books; he rubs his face tiredly. Dean is sitting up on the bed behind him listening to the radio and eating some chili cheese fries from a disposable plate. "Dude. You mind not eating those on MY bed?" Sam asked Dean, annoyed. "Hmm," Dean hums while nodding sarcastically. "Can you turn that down please?" Sam asked. "Yeah, absolutely," Dean told Sam before turning the music up louder. "You know what? Maybe, uh, maybe you should just go somewhere for a while," Sam said loudly.

Dean shuts off the radio and looks up, snappish, "Hey, I'd love to. That's a great idea. Unfortunately, my car's all screwed to Hell!" Emelie's eyes snapped back and forth between her brothers like a tennis match. "Dean, I told you, I have nothing to do wi─" Sam is cut off by a loud knock at the door. Sam stands and goes to the door; he looks through the peephole and then back at Dean, then opens the door to reveal Bobby. "Hey, Bobby," Sam greets. "Boys, Millie," Bobby greeted as he walked in with his hands in his pockets. "Hey, Bobby," Dean spoke as he stood up and approached them. "It's good to see you again so soon," Bobby told them as Emelie walked over and embraced him, he kissed her temple before pulling away.

"Yeah, uh, thanks for coming. Come on in," Sam tells Bobby. "Thank god you're here," Dean told Bobby as he shook his hand. "So um, what didn't you want to talk to me on the phone about?" Bobby asked them. "It's this job we're working. We─We weren't sure you'd believe us and Emelie is being no help at all," Sam informed him while Emelie smirked, huffing a small laugh as she leaned against the wall. "Well, I can believe a lot," Bobby told them. "Yeah, no, no, it's just... we've never seen anything like it--" Sam is cut off by Dean, "Not even close." Sam nodded, "And we thought we could use some fresh eyes."

Bobby sighed, "Well, why don't you begin at the beginning?" Emelie cleared her throat, "Well, it all started when the boys caught wind of an obit. See, a professor took a nosedive from a fourth story window, only there's a campus legend that the building's haunted. The boys called me in for the job after this so I'll let the boys take it away." She smirked at Sam who rolled his eyes and turned back to Bobby, he gestures to the bed; Bobby picks up the empty takeout tray and peers at it, sets it aside, and sits down. "So we pretexted as reporters from the local paper," Sam began the explanation the same as he did once Emelie had arrived.

· · ─────── ·𓆩*𓆪· ─────── · ·

Sam is sitting at a table in a bar with a stocky jock boy, Curtis and an attractive girl, Jen; he sets a voice recorder down on the table. "Yeah, we both had the professor for Ethics and Morality," Curtis told Sam after he asked. "Yeah? So why do you think he did it?" Sam asked the two college students. "Who knows? I mean, he was tenured, wife and kids. His book is like a really big deal. Then again..." Jen leans in conspiratorially, "Who's to say it was suicide?" Sam feigned surprise, "Well, what else could it be?" Jen looked from Curtis to Sam, "Well, you know about Crawford Hall?" Sam shook his head, "No, I don't, actually."

"It's a bunch of crap, it's a total urban legend," Curtis spoke up. "Yeah well, Heather's mom went to school here and she knew the girl," Jen replied to Curtis, her eyes focused on Sam. "Wait, what girl?" Sam inquired. "Thirty years ago, this girl was having an affair with some professor. He broke it off, she jumped out the window and killed herself," Jen answered him. "You know her name?" Sam asked. "No. But they say she jumped from room six-six-nine. Get it? You turn the nine upside down? So now she haunts the building. And anyone who sees her? They don't live to tell the tale," Jen told Sam despite Curtis laughing.

"Well, if no one lives to tell the tale, then how does the tale get told?" Curtis questioned Jen who turned to glare at him as she replied, "Curtis! Shut up!" Sam cleared his throat, "You know what, uh─ Thanks a lot guys. Excuse me." Sam got up and made his towards the bar where Dean was at the bar with three shots of dark bluish-purple liquid; he slams all three in succession. "Dean," Sam spoke, "Dean, what are you drinking?" Dean burps as he looked at Sam, "I don't know, man, I think they're called purple nurples?" Sam rolled his eyes, "Okay, well listen. I think maybe we should go check out the professor's office."

Dean shook his head, "Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no I can't right now, I've got some feisty little wildcat on the hook, I'm about to – zzzzp – reel her in. I'll introduce you." A blonde woman with lots of make up wearing fishnet stockings and a tight miniskirt matched with a shirt stood behind Dean and it was clear that she was drunk. "Starla! Starla, hey. This is my shuttle co-pilot Major Tom. Major Tom, Starla," Dean introduced. Starla draped her arm around Dean, "Enchanté." Sam greets her before she gags, covering her mouth, then she looked up at Sam grinning who was looking at her in uncertainty. "Sorry. Just trying to keep my liquor down!" Starla exclaimed. "Yeah! Good job," Dean tells her before looking at Sam, "Hey. Good news. She's got a sister."

· · ─────── ·𓆩*𓆪· ─────── · ·

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on a minute," Dean interrupted Sam's retelling of their hunt so far, Emelie was grinning at this point having heard both sides already. "What?" Sam asked him with a tone of annoyance. "Come on, dude, that's not how it happened," Dean argued. "No? So you never drank a purple nurple?" Sam asked him. "Yeah, maybe that, but I don't say things like 'feisty little wildcat'. And her name wasn't Starla," Dean answered him. "Then what was it?" Sam asked him. "I don't know," Dean answered before turning to Bobby, "But she was a classy chick. She was a grad student, anthropology and folklore. We were talking about local ghost stories." And so, Dean begins retelling the events.

Dean stands by the bar with the blonde woman who is wearing black heels and a sleek black cocktail dress. She and Dean each hold a purple nurple and toast with them. "Here's to..." The woman trails off for Dean, "Here's to us." They slam the shots before the woman speaks, "My God, you are attractive." Dean smirks, "Thanks. But no time for that now. You need to tell me about this urban legend. Please. Lives are at stake." The woman sighs, "Sorry, I just... can't even concentrate. It's like staring... into the sun." She reaches up and pulls his head towards her for a slow kiss.

Sam approaches behind them with an extremely dubious expression and his jacket slung over his shoulder. "Dean! What do you think you're doing?" Sam asked in an exaggerated prissy tone and an extreme bitchface. "Sam, please. If you wouldn't mind, give me five minutes here," Dean told him, smooth and casual after pulling away from the woman. "Dean, this is a very serious investigation. We don't have time for any of your blah blah blah blah. Blah blah blah blah. Blah blah blah blah!" Sam rambled on as Dean leans in to kiss the woman again, Sam continues to ramble in incoherent behind him but Dean ignores it in favour of making out with the woman.

Emelie cleared her throat as Bobby glanced at her, she smirked at him and he could see the clear amusement in her eyes. "Right! And that's how it really happened!" Sam interrupted sarcastically making Dean shrug as Sam continued, "I don't sound like that, Dean!" Dean sent him an unbothered expression, "That's what you sound like to me." Emelie saw this as the perfect scene to explain siblings, she had seen so many moments like this between the two boys and she shared a few with them as well but ultimately, this was pure entertainment for her. "Okay. What's going on with you two?" Bobby asked after staring blankly at them. "Nothing. No─ it's nothing," Sam told him. "No, come on. You're bickering like an old married couple," Bobby informed them.

"Oh no, you'd be surprised how often they act like this," Emelie told Bobby with a nod of her head. "Stay out of this, Millie," Dean told her, she raised her hands in surrender. "Anyway, see married couples can get divorced. Me and him, we're like, uh Siamese twins," Dean told Bobby as he got up from the couch and walked towards the kitchenette. "It's conjoined twins!" Sam corrected like it's something he's said many times before. "See what I mean?" Dean asked Bobby while motioning at Sam. "Look, it... we've just been on the road for too long. Tight quarters, all that. Don't worry about it," Sam assured Bobby. "Okay," Bobby replied hesitantly. "So anyway. We figured it might be a haunting, so we went to check out the scene of the crime. That's when Millie showed up," Sam began.

Emelie was leaning against her bike outside Crawford Hall when the Impala pulled up, the boys were posing as electricians. "I get to play insurance officer?" Emelie teased as she motioned to the jeans and button-up she wore. "Yeah. It's good to see you," Dean told her as Sam hugged her, she hugged Dean after before straightening out her shirt. They headed up to the building and meet up with the Janitor, his eyes landed on Emelie instantly bringing a smirk to his face. "Hello there, beautiful," The Janitor greeted. "It's Emelie Davis, insurance officer. I've been tagged in with these guys," Emelie corrected professionally. "I like me a woman who can stay professional," The Janitor teased causing Dean to clear his throat.

The Janitor lead them to the professor's office, Dean sent Emelie a look asking if she was fine and she sent him a subtle wink back as they reached the office. "So, how long have you been working here?" Sam asked the man. "I've been mopping this floor for six years," The Janitor informed them, he turned the light on as the four walk into the professor's office, "There you go guys and lady." He noticed Sam's EMF reader, "What the heck's that for?" Sam turned to him, "Just finding wire in the walls." The Janitor nodded, "Huh. Wow. Not sure why you're wiring up this office. Not gonna do the professor much good."

Emelie perked up at those words, "Why's that?" He turned to her, "He's dead." She nodded before looking around the room, his eyes watching her. "Oh, what happened?" Dean asked the man hoping to get his eyes off of his sister. "He went out that window. Right there," The man pointed toward the window. "Yeah? Were you working that night?" Emelie asked him. "Yeah. I'm the one who found him," The Janitor answered her with a sorrowful look, Emelie rested her hand on his shoulder for a moment before pulling away; a strange tingle sparked through her arm before fading. The Janitor looked her in the eyes as Sam spoke, "You see it happen?"

"Nope. I just saw him come up here, and uh... well..." He trailed off, his eyes finally turning away from Emelie who was looking down at her hand with furrowed brows. "What?" Sam pushed further for answers. "He wasn't alone," The Janitor answered him. "Who was he with?" Dean asked though his voice was muffled. ( "Come on! I ate one, maybe two!" Dean interrupted Sam who sighed, "Just let me tell it, okay?!" ) "He was with a young lady. I told the cops about her, but uh, I guess they never found her," The Janitor informed them. "You saw this girl go in, huh? But did you ever see her come out?" Sam questioned him. "Now that you mention it, no," The Janitor replied. "You ever see her before, around?" Emelie asked finally managing to steel herself.

"Well, not her," The Janitor told her, his eyes focused on her again, a softness to them. "What do you mean?" Dean inquired. "I don't mean to cast aspersions on a dead guy, but uh... Mister Morality here? He brought a lot of girls up here. Got more ass than a toilet seat," The Janitor answered him with a smirk. Dean laughed delightedly with food in his mouth making Sam glare at him as the Janitor winked at Emelie who turned away from him and approached the window. "One more thing," Emelie spoke as she turned to the man who had been watching her, "This building, it only has four stories, right?" The Janitor nodded his head prompting Sam to ask, "So there wouldn't be a room six-six-nine?" The Janitor shook his head, "'Course not. Why do you ask?" Sam sighed, "Aw, just curious. Thanks."

The trio said their farewells, the Janitor sending Emelie another flirty smile in the process before the Winchesters headed back to their motel room. Sam sits at the table as Dean gets a beer out of the fridge for each of them, Emelie falling back against the bed lost in her thoughts. "Well, no traces of EMF, that's for sure," Sam expressed. "And the room six-six-nine's a load of crap," Dean replied to him as he handed over the drinks. "So what do you think? The professor's just a jumper? A legend's just a legend?" Sam asked his siblings. "I don't know. I mean, the uh, girl the janitor described, that's pretty weird," Dean expressed to Sam who nodded, "Yeah."

"We oughta check out the history of the building. See if any co-ed ganked herself there," Dean advised Sam. "Yeah, you're right," Sam said before he opened up his laptop, then stares at the screen confused, "Dude. Were you on my computer?" Dean comes back from the bathroom confused, "No." Emelie sat up as she looked between them. "Oh really? 'Cause it's frozen now. On uh, BustyAsianBeauties.com," Sam told him, Dean thinks for a moment, frowns, winces, and retreats while Sam sighed in annoyance, "Dean! Would you─ just─ don't touch my stuff anymore, okay?" Emelie shook her head at the two arguing. "Why don't you control your OCD?" Dean asked in retaliation.

· · ─────── ·𓆩*𓆪· ─────── · ·

"But did you dig up anything about the building? Or on the suicidal co-ed?" Bobby asked interrupting Sam's retelling. "No. History's clean," Sam answered him. "Then it's not a haunting," Bobby told them like it was obvious. "Definitely not," Emelie commented receiving a glare from her brothers before Dean spoke, "Maybe not. Tell you the truth, we're not really sure." Bobby looked between them with furrowed brows, "What do you mean, you're not sure?" Emelie laughed knowing what is coming next. "Well... it's weird," Sam expressed. "What's weird?" Bobby asked, he was tired of the beating around the bush answers. "This next part, we uh, we didn't see it happen ourselves exactly, but it's pretty friggin' weird. Even for us," Dean informed him.

Curtis was walking alone through the campus. He hears a noise and turns, startled, then keeps walking, laughing at himself. He hears another noise and stops, looking straight up. He walks more carefully, hands in pockets. Suddenly a bright light whooshes on overhead and he cringes, arms over his head. He starts running, but trips and falls; a bright beam of light shoots down and grabs him like a tractor beam, pulling him up. He screams and flails. "Aliens?" Bobby asked them. "Yeah," Dean nodded. "Look, even if they are real, they're sure as Hell not coming to Earth and swiping people," Bobby informed the three. "Hey, believe me. We know," Dean defended. "My whole life I've never found evidence of an honest-to-God abduction. It's all just cranks and pranks," Bobby told them. "Yeah, that's what we thought. But... we figured we'd at least talk to the guy," Sam told Bobby.

Dean is sitting next to Curtis who has three full shot glasses lined up in front of him, Sam and Emelie are standing nearby as Curtis takes a shot. "Hey, you ought to give those purple nurples a shot," Dean advised before noticing Emelie's look of disapproval. "So, what happened, Curtis?" Sam asked gently knowing the guy was traumatised. "You won't believe me. Nobody does," Curtis replied to him. "Give us a chance," Emelie assured him with a sympathetic smile. "I do not want this in the papers," Curtis told them sternly. "Off the record then," Emelie assured him. "I, uh... I blacked out, and... I lost time, and when I woke up, I don't know where I was," Curtis informed them, "I was lying on a medical table, bright lights shining in my eyes when a blurry alien appeared."

"Then what?" Sam asked as he and Amelia sat down. "They did tests on me. And, uh..." Curtis trailed off to take another shot, "They, uh... They probed me." Sam turned away struggling not to laugh while Emelie furrowed her brows and gently asked, "They probed you?" Curtis nodded, "Yeah, they probed me. Again and a─again and─ and again." Curtis downed another shot, "And again and again and again... And then one more time." Emelie lowered her eyes at the words, it was obvious he wouldn't be healing from that for a while. "Yikes," Dean commented. "And that's not even the worst of it," Curtis informed them. "How could it get any worse? Some alien made you his bitch," Dean told him with a smirk. Curtis glares and Dean stops smirking.

"You guys are exaggerating again, huh?" Bobby asked interrupting the story. "Oh, I wish they were. Curtis was dancing with aliens to the song Lady in Red after they made a toy out of him," Emelie told him, she was biting back her own laughter as she remembered the conversation while learning about Curtis from others who had stated the frat boy was a dick to people. "Then this Frat Boy's just nuts," Bobby told them, he fought back amusement seeing Emelie's own amusement, she was definitely enjoying this whole case more than the boys were. "We're not so sure," Dean told him.

Back at the campus, Sam and Dean were standing over a large, perfectly round scorch mark in the ground. "I'm telling you, Dean, this was made by some kind of jet engine," Sam told Dean. "You mean some saucer-shaped jet engine?" Dean asked him sarcastically. "What else could it be?" Sam asked him. "What the hell?!" Dean ask confused. "I don't know," Sam shrugged. "Seriously dude─ What the hell?" Dean asked receiving the same response. "I mean, first the haunting. Now this? The timing alone─ There's got to be some kind of connection," Sam told Dean. "You mean between the angry spirit and the sexed-up E.T? What could the connection possibly be?" Dean asked him.

· · ─────── ·𓆩*𓆪· ─────── · ·

"Where were you during this?" Bobby asked Emelie who bit her lip while the boys raised their brows at her. "Yeah, Mills, where were you?" Sam mocked snarkily with his arms crossed. "The Janitor, Joseph had invited me for a coffee," Emelie told them with a shrug. "Anyway, what could we do? So we just kept on digging," Dean told Bobby before he continued retelling the events. Sam and Dean were talking to another college student. "So, you and this guy, Curtis─ You were in the same house?" Sam asked him. "Yeah," He agreed. "You heard what happened to him, right?" Dean inquired. "Yeah, he says it was aliens, but, you know, whatever," The college student replied with a shrug. "Look, man I─I know this all has to be so hard," Sam said with exaggerated concern.

"Um, not so much," The college student replied unbothered. "But I want you to know... I'm here for you. You brave little soldier. I acknowledge your pain. Come here," Sam pulled the student into his embrace, "You're too precious for this world!" Emelie slapped Dean as Sam exclaimed, "I never said that!" Dean shrugged, "You're always saying pansy stuff like that." Emelie slapped both of them over the head, "Just tell Bobby what happened." Sam and Dean rubbed their heads before Dean continued. "Well, um... Yeah, uh, thanks," The student said as Sam releases him. "Thanks for the hug, but, uh, I'm okay. Really. To tell you the truth, whatever happened to Curtis, he had it coming," The student informed them.

"Why is that?" Dean asked him. "He's our pledge master. Put us through Hell this semester, and got off on it. So now he knows how we feel," The student told them. "It's okay," Dean reassures an 'emotional' Sam. They bid the student farewell and headed back to the hotel where Emelie was waiting with a smile on her face. "Enjoy your coffee?" Dean asked her. "I did actually. We spoke about movies and we shared many of our interests. How did the scene look?" Emelie answered before looking between the two as they told her their findings. "It still doesn't make a lick of sense. But, hey, at least there's one connection," Dean voiced. "Between what?" Sam asked him. "The victims. The professor and the frat guy─ They're both dicks," Dean told him.

"That's a connection?" Sam asked him. "You got anything better to go on, I'd love to hear it," Dean replied to him. "You know, this case reminds me of one I worked ages ago─" Emelie is cut off by Sam who is looking in his bag, "Where's my laptop?" Dean shrugged, "I don't know." Sam continues to search only growing more frustrated as Dean talks, "Think about it. A philandering professor gets a dead girl. A pledge master gets hazed." Sam looked up in irritation, "I left it in here." Dean sighed, "You obviously didn't." Emelie furrowed her brows looking between her brothers as Dean continued about his view of the case, "I mean, these punishments─they're almost poetic. Actually, it'd be more like a limerick, but still─"

Sam approached Dean with a glare, "Okay, hilarious. Ha Ha. Where'd you hide it?" Dean stopped talking and looked at his brother, "What? Your computer?" Sam nodded, "Yeah, where'd you hide it?" Emelie laid back against the bed leaving the two to argue as she usually does. "Why would I take your computer?" Dean asked him. "Because Emelie wouldn't, Dean! And no one else could have, we keep the door locked. We never let any maids in," Sam exclaimed to Dean angrily. "Looks like you lost it, Poindexter," Dean told him with a smirk. "Dude, you know something? I put up with a lot from you," Sam expressed with anger.

"What are you talking about? I'm a joy to be around," Dean defended as he looked at Emelie, she shrugged, "You both have your moments." Dean rolled his eyes as Sam spoke, "Yeah? Your dirty socks in the sink, your food in the fridge." Emelie had to agree with Sam on that but even Sam has his own flaws. "What's wrong with my food?" Dean asked him with a pout. "It's not food anymore, Dean! It's Darwinism," Sam exclaimed in response before continuing, "All I ask from you, the one thing, is that you don't mess with my stuff!" Emelie sighed as Dean glared at Sam, "You done?" Sam scoffed, "You know, how would you feel if I screwed with the Impala?" Emelie raised a brow at that while Dean leaned closer, "It'd be the last thing you ever did."

· · ─────── ·𓆩*𓆪· ─────── · ·

"Did you take his computer?" Bobby asked Dean. "Serves him right, but, no," Dean answered Bobby truthfully. "Well, I didn't lose it. 'Cause I don't lose things," Sam argued. "Oh, that's right, yeah, 'cause he's Mr Perfect," Dean mocked. "Okay, okay!" Bobby interrupted the two, "Why don't you just tell me what happened next?" Dean nodded, "There was one more victim." Emelie reached for her phone and smiled seeing a message from Joseph thanking her for joining him for the coffee along with stating that he looked forward to another. "Right. Now, we─we didn't see this one ourselves either. We kind of put it together from the evidence, well, Millie did. But this guy─ He was, uh, he was a research scientist. Animal testing," Sam informed Bobby.

"Yeah, you know─ a dick. Which fits the pattern," Dean commented, "Cops didn't release the cause of death 'cause they had no clue what the cause was." Sam nodded, "So we checked it out ourselves." Emelie, Dean and Sam shone flashlights through a window, Emelie moves the latch aside with her knife allowing Sam to open it from the outside. Emelie dropped into the morgue first and shines her flashlight into the room as her brothers follow. Dean opens a body drawer and shines his light through causing him to grimace, "Well, this oughta be quick." Emelie and Sam walked over to him as he slid the drawer out and gingerly peeled the bloody blanket off revealing extremely mangled remains.

"Okay, that's just nasty," Dean muttered in disgust. Sam, holding his hand to his mouth and nose noticed how unbothered Emelie was, "How are you not affected?" Emelie shrugged, "Seen worse on hunts with Dad and Rufus, honestly." Sam and Dean grimaced at their sister who began looking over the remains. "Mutilated?" Dean questioned. "Looks to me like something was hungry," Sam told his siblings. "They identify him yet?" Dean asked. "Yeah, uh, a research scientist at the college. Guess where his office was, by the way. Crawford Hall, same as the professor," Sam answered him, Emelie furrowing her brows at that.

"That's right where the frat boy had his close encounter," Emelie reminded them as she picked up the magnifying light before peering through it. "What is it?" Dean asked her. "Looks like a─a belly scale?" Emelie told him, confused. "A belly scale? From what?" Dean questioned her. "Uh... an alligator," Emelie guessed before looking up at her brothers. "An alligator in the sewer, come on," Dean said with a laugh. "What? Well, Dean, it's a classic urban legend. A kid flushes a baby gator down the toilet and it grows huge in the tunnels," Sam exclaimed to Dean. "But no one's ever really found one. I mean, th─they're not real," Dean said with uncertainty.

"Well, neither's alien abduction but something chomped on this guy," Emelie told her brother with a shrug. "This couldn't get any weirder," Dean commented making Emelie laugh as she recovered the body. "You'd be surprised, Dean," Emelie told him as she closed the body drawer and turned to her brothers. "Maybe we should get some more help. I'll call Bobby. Maybe he's run into something like this before," Sam informed his siblings. "Oh, I'm sure he has. Just your typical haunted campus, alien abduction, alligator-in-the-sewer gig. Yeah, it's simple," Dean expressed mockingly before they made their way out.

"We decided to search the sewer anyway, so we split up, each taking one end of campus while Emelie was doing more work on the alien side," Sam told Bobby. "D'you find anything?" Bobby asked them. "Yeah, I found something, just not in the sewer," Dean said while sending a glare to Sam. "Here we go..." Emelia muttered. Dean emerged from the sewer and enters the alley where the Impala was parked however, all four tires were flat. "Son of a bitch!" Dean exclaimed as he circles the car until he finds a money clip on the ground engraved with S.W. "Sam!" Dean shouts angrily. He returns to the hotel some time later where Sam and Emelie were researching for more answers on the case.

"You think this is funny?!" Dean asked as he stormed into the room. "It depends. What?" Sam asked him. "Th─th─th─the car!" Dean stuttered in anger. "What about the car?" Emelie asked Dean in confusion. "Stay out of this Emelie!" Dean snapped causing Emelie to shrink back, she rarely heard that tone from Dean and each time it scared her. "You can't let the air out of the tires, you idiot. You're gonna bend the rims!" Dean growled at Sam. "Whoa, wait a minute. I didn't go near your car," Sam defended. "Oh, yeah? Huh, then how'd I find this?" Dean asked before holding up Sam's money clip. Sam pats his pocket as he stands, "Hey. Give me back my money!"

Dean pulled it away from his reach, "Oh, no, no. Consider it reparations. For, uh, emotional trauma." Emelie swallowed carefully before sitting up, "Boys, I think I know what's going on now and─" Emelie is cut off by Sam, "Yeah, very funny. Now give it back." Dean pulled it away again refusing him. "Dean, I have had it up to here with you," Sam growled. "Yeah? Right back at you!" Dean shouted back. "Boys, I really think I know what this case is and─" Emelie is once again cut off by the brothers scuffling and fighting like kids. "Okay, I've heard enough," Bobby spoke up interrupting the story, he looked at Emelie who was smirking in amusement and now he understood why as they both had worked out exactly what was responsible for the case.

"You showed up about an hour after that," Dean told Bobby. "I'm surprised at you two. I really am. Sam, first off, Dean did not steal your computer," Bobby told Sam who went to argue but Bobby interrupted him, "And, Dean, Sam did not touch your car." Sam turned to Dean with a look, "Yeah!" Emelie laughed. "And if you two bothered to pull your heads outta your asses and listened to your sister, it all would have been pretty clear," Bobby told them. "What?" Dean asked as he looked from Bobby to Emelie. "What we're dealing with, Dean," Emelie told him with a smirk on her face. "I got nothing," Dean said. "You got a trickster on your hands," Bobby informed them, Emelie nodding in agreement.

"That's what I thought!" Dean exclaims prompting Emelie to slap him over the head. "No it isn't, so shut up and listen," Emelie snapped at him as he rubbed the back of his head. "I got to tell you... you guys were the biggest clue," Bobby said with a chuckle. "What do you mean?" Sam questioned him. "These things create chaos and mischief as easy as breathing, and it's got you so turned around and at each other's throats, you can't even think straight," Bobby informed them before looking at Emelie as the boys realised, "Except for you." Emelie looked down, she agreed with that; the trickster hasn't done anything to her.

"It knows you're onto him and it's been playing you two like fiddles," Bobby told Sam and Dean. "So what is it─ what, spirit, demon, what?" Dean asked Bobby and Emelie. "Well, more like demigods actually," Emelie corrected before informing them of what she knew, "There's Loki in Scandinavia and Anansi in West Africa, there's dozens of them. They're immortal and they can create things out of thin air. Things as real as you and me, and make them vanish just as quick." Bobby nodded with pride, he was glad Emelie remembered her lessons. "You mean like an angry spirit or an alien or an alligator," Dean replied with an exhausted sigh.

"The victims fit the M.O too. Tricksters target the high and the mighty, knock them down a peg, usually with a sense of humour ─ deadly pranks, things like that," Bobby added. "Bobby, what do these things look like?" Dean asked him. "Lot's of things but human, mostly," Bobby answered him while Emelie's eyes widened, she groaned in irritation while Dean looked at her, "And what human do we know who's been at ground zero this whole time?" Emelie walked away from her brothers, grabbed her phone and stormed out of the hotel room. "What's up with her?" Bobby asked them. "She met a guy... He's our trickster," Dean told him, Bobby frowned at those words.

The Trickster locks a gate with a key attached to his belt before Sam and Dean follow him up a staircase. "Sorry I'm dragging a little ass today, boys. Had a beautiful date last night," The Trickster informed them, Dean clenching his jaw knowing how affected Emelie really was by all of this especially considering she had gone on that date excited. "Listen, we won't be long. We just need to check a couple offices up on three," Dean told him. "No problem," The Trickster replied to him. "I, uh, forgot something in the truck. You know what? I'll catch up with you guys," Sam told them, Dean nodded before he and the Trickster continued up the stairs.

Sam waits until they're out of sight before hurrying back to the locked gate, pulling out his lockpicking tools. He enters the space and rummages through lockers until he finds a copy of the Weekly World News with the headline 'Aliens Abduct Cheerleaders' in one of the lockers. The evidence was exactly what Emelie told them to find, he frowned feeling pity for his twin as she had genuinely connected with the guy only to learn he was one of the monsters they hunted and had to put down. Sam had no idea how to handle this and hoped that Dean would handle it and help her out due to them being closer.

Sam and Dean exit the building and stop in the courtyard. "Just 'cause he reads the Weekly World News doesn't mean he's our guy. I mean, you read it, too," Sam expressed to Dean. "I'm telling you, it's him," Dean responded. "Look, I just think we need some hard proof. That's all," Sam argued. "Okay, another thing Bobby and Emelie mentioned was that these suckers have a metabolism like an insect, a real sweet tooth," Dean reminded Sam. "Well, I didn't find any candy bars or sugar. Not even Equal," Sam told his older brother. "Eh, that's probably 'cause you missed something," Dean told him. "I don't miss things," Sam argued.

"Oh, right, 'cause you're Mr Perfect," Dean mocked. "What? Are you really still pissed at me 'cause of what the Trickster did?" Sam asked incredulously. "You've been a tight ass long before the Trickster showed up," Dean told him. The brothers glare at each other as the Trickster watches them from the window with a smirk. "Look, just... stay here, keep an eye on the Janitor. I'll go to his place to see if I can find any actual evidence before you go barging in and staking the man that Emelie actually likes!" Sam warned Dean knowing the Trickster was hearing the words and those words made him falter as Sam continued, "Just wait till I get back, okay?"

"Okay!" Dean snaps at him before Sam leaves. Dean paces as the Trickster watches with a serious expression on his face. Time passes by and Dean is still waiting impatiently, "Ah, screw this!" Dean enters the building, poking around cautiously with his flashlight. As he goes up the last staircase he puts the flashlight away and pulls out a large wooden stake. He hears something behind him, tucks the stake into his jacket, and enters the theatre. On the stage is a round red bed with a tacky canopy and a slowly rotating disco ball. Two women the Trickster materialized are sprawled on it seductively, both in lingerie. As Dean gets to the stage, they crawl towards him.

"We've been waiting for you, Dean," The brunette spoke seductively. "Y-Y-You guys aren't real," Dean stutters out fighting his hormones. "Trust me, sugar, it's gonna feel real," The brunette assures him causing Dean to laugh nervously. "Come on. Let us give you a massage," The blonde offers with a sweet smile. "Wha─ you know, I'm a─ I'm a sucker for a happy ending. Really, I am, but... I-I'm gonna have to pass," Dean tells them. "They're a peace offering," The Trickster spoke from where he sat in the audience, "I know what you, your brother and your sister do. I've been around a while. Run into your kind before." Dean smirked, "Well, then you know that I... can't let you just keep hurting people."

"Come on! Those people got what was coming to them. Hoisted on their own petards. But you and Sam – I like you. I do. So treat yourself... Long as you want. Just long enough for me to move on to the next town," The Trickster offered. "Yeah, I don't think I can let you do that," Dean replied to him. "I don't wanna hurt you. And you know that I can," The Trickster warned him. "Look, man, I─I got to tell you, I dig your style, all right? I mean─" Dean chuckles, "I do. I mean... and the slow dancing alien." Dean was stalling as the Trickster chuckled, "One of my personal favourites, yeah." Dean nodded, "But, uh, I can't let you go. Especially after you hurt my littler sister." The Trickster swallowed carefully at the mention of Emelie.

"Too bad. Like I said, I like you. Sam was right. You shouldn't've come alone," The Trickster told him with a clenched jaw. "Well, I'll agree with you there," Dean replied to him before the doors slammed shut. The Trickster looks back up the stairs to see Sam with a large stake of his own, Bobby stands at the doors at the top of the next aisle, also with a stake but Emelie wasn't anywhere to be seen. "That fight you guys had outside ─ that was a trick?" The Trickster asked them. "Emelie's idea," Dean informed him with a smile. "Not bad. But you want to see a real trick?" The Trickster asked, impressed by Emelie before a masked man with a chainsaw appears near Sam and attacks him.

The brunette woman attacks Dean as the Trickster watches the show. Bobby and Sam grapple with the chainsaw man as Dean fights the two women, the Trickster munching on a sandwich as though he was watching a movie. However, his fun comes to an end when someone appears behind him, slamming the stake into his chest causing him to drop the sandwich. The Trickster turned his head to see Emelie looking him in the eyes, her eyes were filled with sorrow. "Don't cry for me, beautiful," The Trickster told her as he reached up and brushed her hair out of her face, "Show me a smile." Emelie couldn't stop the tear that fell but she managed a small smile before pushing the stake further causing the chainsaw man and woman to disappear.

Emelie pulled the stake free and stands up ignoring the looks from her brothers and Bobby as she walked up the aisle and out of the theatre. Sam and Dean share a worried look while Bobby sighs, they all move to follow after her. Emelie reached her motorbike and climbed on without waiting for her brothers, she started up the bike and took off just as the other three made it outside and to the Impala. It wasn't long till Emelie reached the next town, she rode off to the side into a random field before stopping. Amelia grabbed the stake and threw it into the air, screaming out causing the wooden weapon to explode into pieces.

Amelia fell to the ground as sobs wracked her body and to others, you'd wonder why she was so broken about this but they didn't understand─ they wouldn't understand. The life of a hunter meant that most sparks were a one night thing and never more but Emelie dreamed of something more than just hunting till death knocks on her door for the last time. She felt a genuine spark with Joseph on their date, he had set up a picnic with her favourite foods under the setting sun and shared so many things but now, she knew the truth. He was a Trickster and it all had been a trick to toy with her reminding her that she was cursed to never knowing love.

Meanwhile, a figure approached the Trickster's body and stands by it as the body shimmers and disappears; the figure is the Trickster who frowns slightly as he spots something on the chair. He slowly approached it and picked up the silver bracelet that held an angel wing charm and a mouse charm. "I'm sorry, Emelie," The Trickster spoke as he enclosed his hand around the piece of jewellery, "Our time will come." He smiled at them before pocketing the bracelet and materialised a chocolate bar into his hand and made his way out of the theatre prepared to see Emelie again one day soon.

Rosemary Speaks

Oh, what a chapter...
Poor Emelie, she's gonna have emotional troubles throughout this entire story and I'm not sure y'all be expecting most of them.

And SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T WATCHED MORE THAN EIGHT SEASON OF SUPERNATURAL....

Can we take a moment to point out that the first angel the boys encountered was Gabriel the ARCHANGEL!? Like I know technically, he probably was just a trickster at that point in time but canonically, he is the archangel Gabriel.

Also, didn't add the coffee and picnic dates as they didn't fit the pacing and honestly, I always lose my pacing writing those scenes because they feel so forced or unnecessary. Most people know what happens during dates (I've never been on one) so why bother.

Would love to know your thoughts on this chapter!

Or any questions you may have.

See you in the next chapter!
