The Feast of Starlight - Part One

Caladhiel nodded her head fiercely whereby her long red hair danced around her face and on her back. "Yes, you look absolutely beautiful."

She chuckled at Narsil's annoyed expression. "Twirl around one more time, please."

Narsil sighed. "Why?"

"Because I say so." Caladhiel described a circle in the air with her finger, ushering Narsil to twirl.

Narsil let her head hang and turned around. The light blue dress billowed out around her legs and Caladhiel clapped her hands in delight.

"I look ridiculous," Narsil commented when she casted a quick glance in the mirror behind her. She had said it before when they had bought the dress, but Caladhiel had ignored her and did so again.

"I can't show up dressed like this," Narsil tried again, but Caladhiel waved it away. "Nonsense. It matches your eyes perfectly and you most definitely do not look ridiculous. Other elves shall be jealous at you."

Narsil snorted. "I bet not."

"We will see," was all what Caladhiel said and then she disappeared behind the folding screen that seperated a small section of the room from the rest. It was just large enough to change your clothes behind it.

Several minutes later, she appeared again, wearing a dark green dress with golden embroideries to add a bit more detail. She hooked her arm through Narsil's and dragged her along.

"Now, it's time to bewilder everyone with our presence."

Narsil shook her head in disbelief. This was going to be a long night.

But deep down, Narsil was glad Caladhiel showed interest in her. Other than her, Narsil had no one to talk to. It wasn't that she hated being alone - in fact, she loved it - but every once in a while, it could be nice to talk to someone. With the emphasis on once in a while. She had had enough socializing last few days, to be honest.

Narsil took a deep breath, only one more night. Just a few more hours. She could do that, right?

Legolas knocked on the door for the second time. "Liv, are you done already? We'll miss the beginning."

"It is called being fashionably late, Legolas!"

Legolas frowned in confusion. "What?" What was she talking about? He heard some girly giggling behind the door. He decided to ignore the phrase by agreeing with it. That was always the safe way. "Sure, but are you ready to go?"

"Just a few more minutes."

Legolas muttered something beneath his breath. Ellith...

A bit uncomfortable, Victoria left her room. Because she hadn't brought any evening gowns with her, the Elves had loaned her one but since she smaller than most of them, it was a bit too long. She would have to walk carefully if she didn't want to trip over it. She grabbed some of the fabric and lifted it up, but honestly, it didn't really helped. It still was too long. Or she had to move her hands till above her waist, but that would look rather weird.

Victoria tried not to tremble, this was going to be an awful night. Everyone would laugh at the silly looking human lady, she was sure of it. She burried her face in her hands while taking a deep breath to regain her confidence and she shifted her hands, stroking them over her brown hair until they rest on her shoulders. It would be alright, she told herself. Victoria looked over her shoulder when a sound drew her attention.

"You look lovely," Varonwe said who was standing a bit behind her, leaning against the stone walls of the cave system.

A blush crept over her cheeks. "Thank you. But you shouldn't lie. It looks as if I'm drowning in this dress, it's too long for my short legs."

Varonwe's eyes moved downwards, which made her kind of uncomfortable and she shifted slightly on her place. Varonwe shrugged, making eye contact with her brown eyes once again. "No one would notice."

"When I trip and fall, they will."

Varonwe chuckled at her comment. "I'll make sure that won't happen."

Victoria raised her eyebrows and Varonwe realised what he had just said. "Unless, of course, you rather attend the Feast alone."

Victoria smiled, her eyes twinkling from joy. "I'd love it if you would accompany me, Varonwe."

Perhaps this night wouldn't be that bad after all.

Arwen stared at her little sisters in amazement and with a proud feeling. "You two look gorgeous."

Norin was wearing a mostly red dress which resembled flames; turning from orange to a dark shade of red upwards.

Livianna's dress was the purest of white and looked as if any second she could turn into a star.

"You don't look so bad yourself, Arwen," Norin said.

Legolas knocked on the door for the third time and Livianna smirked. "Just a sec, darling."

Arwen pushed her younger sister to the door. "Go. You shouldn't tease the boy."

Livianna stuck out her tongue but went to the door nonetheless. Norin was about to follow her but was stopped by Arwen who grabbed her upper arm. Confused, she quirked an eyebrow at her, asking what was wrong with one small gesture.

"How is it with your powers? Can you still control it? Do you need some time alone?" Arwen asked concerned.

Norin was born with some rare powers. No one knew how it could be she could control fire. At a young age, Elrond had quickly discovered that sometimes she needed to release them to have it all under control. Before they had found that out, Norin had almost burned down her chamber in Rivendell, and the rest of the house with it.

Norin nodded. "It's all under control. I pointed them at the campfire a few days ago when no one was looking. The fire had been contained for so long, it felt as if it was burning under my skin."

Arwen let go off her arm and nodded in relief. Together they walked to the hall, Legolas and Livianna were already gone, but Aragorn was waiting for Arwen and the three of them walked through the tunnels until they were outside.

They arrived just in time, as Thranduil was already standing on a small podium, ready to open the Feast.

A/N: Do you ever just stare at a word and question its entire existence? I just had that with the word 'eyebrows'. I was sure I spelled it wrong, but I did not. It looks so funny, though.

Anywho, I am terribly sorry for the long wait! Life's been... busy. Hectic. Awful. A pain in the arse. You get the point.

Thanks for sticking with me and this story for so long! You guys are the best!
