CHAPTER THIRTY:
ONLY HERE TO HELP

THE TWO BOYS JUST STOOD there for a moment, watching Elaineโ€•๏ธŽwho had just been lying on the table dead moments priorโ€•๏ธŽwith their mouths opened in slight shock. There was something different about her, she looked more alive than ever before. They were pretty sure it had something to do with the powers that Rebekah claimed she had, but they weren't exactly sure.

ย  ย ย  "You're here. . . why?" Was the first question Elaine asked as she looked at Rebekah with a small frown dancing on her lips.

ย  ย ย  "I'm the one that brought you back." Rebekah simply answered. Elaine's frown seemed to deepen before she took a moment to look around, realizing that she was no longer standing outside of the Hale house, but instead was inside of the animal clinic.

ย  ย ย  "Brought me back? As in, I died?"

ย  ย ย  "Yeah." Scott answered, nodding his head. "You were trying to protect me from the Alpha. And in doing so. . . you, uh, got yourself killed." As she remembered the slices that had been placed upon her neck, her hand immediately flew up to where the slice should have been, only to feel scarred skin instead. She swallowed.

ย  ย ย  "Do I have. . . scars?" She hesitantly asked, turning to look between the three.

ย  ย ย  "They're not bad." Stiles answered. "In a weird way, they kind of fit you. Battle scars."

ย  ย ย  "Battle scars." The girl mumbled before nodding her head. She then looked up at Scott, suddenly becoming panicked. "Mom, does she. . ."

ย  ย ย  "She thinks you're with Allison." Scott quickly dismissed, slowly walking up to her.

ย  ย ย  "How the hell am I going to explain three giant scars to her?" Elaine whispered, looking at her brother as he stood right in front of her. She didn't want her mother to worry about her, because she was fine. She was perfectly fine, right?

ย  ย ย  "I might can help with that." Rebekah spoke up. Elaine snapped her head towards the woman, narrowing her eyes at her. Rebekah sighed at her hesitance. "I know you don't like me, Elaine."

ย  ย ย  "Is it that obvious?" The girl muttered. "Why are you even here?"

ย  ย ย  "I'm only here to help." Rebekah calmly said.

ย  ย ย  "Ah, yes, the word help must have a very different definition to you. Were you trying to help me when you abandoned me on their doorstep?" Elaine asked. She rose up a hand upon noticing the woman open her mouth. "Don't answer that. I'm glad you did, I have a better family now than I would've had had you kept me."

ย  ย ย  "Elaine, I know you don't like her, but she did bring you back." Scott told her, making Elaine look towards her brother. She furrowed her eyebrows. "I thought. . . we thought you were dead. Allison and Argent still think you are. And once they found out how you came back, they're going to know. So, just. . . just let her help. And then, we can leave, and you don't have to see her again."

ย  ย ย  Elaine looked at him for a moment before huffing and nodding her head. "Fine." Scott offered her a small smile before stepping back and allowing Rebekah to stand in front of her. Rebekah looked at her daughter before placing her hand gently against the scars that were covering her child's skin. She closed her eyes, whispering Latin before opening her eyes and moving her hand away to reveal the scars were gone. Elaine frowned. "What did you do?"

ย  ย ย  "It's a cloaking spell, basically. It hides the scars from others, and only you can see them." Rebekah explained. She met her daughter's eyes before softly smiling at her. "Has anyone ever told you, you have the most bluest eyes?"

ย  ย ย  "I wonder who I get them from." Elaine whispered. "Because you have darker eyes than Scott and my mother combined."

ย  ย ย  "You have your grandmother's eyes." She answered. She took a step back before offering her another smile. "Listen, I won't come around you if you truly want that. But, in that book I gave you, on the thirteenth page, there's a spell in there. It's very simple and shouldn't be hard for you at all. Chant it, I'll hear you, and I'll come."

ย  ย ย  Elaine looked at her for a moment before giving the smallest nod of her head. "Thank you."

ย  ย ย  "You're welcome." She softly responded. She then glanced at the three teenagers with a small smile covering her face. "I must be leaving now. May we meet again." And with that, the woman walked out of the clinic. There was a silence in the room as Elaine carefully jumped down from the table before she looked up at her brother and bestfriend. Almost immediately, Stiles was quick to walk up to her, embracing her in a hug. Elaine laughed before tightly hugging him back, burying her face into the crook of his neck.

ย  ย ย  "You do that to me again, I'll be the one to bring you back and kill you myself." Stiles warned, earning another laugh from the girl as she pulled away and looked up at him with a smile.

ย  ย ย  "I promise not to die anymore. As long as you promise to have a movie night with me soon. We haven't had one in what feels like years." Elaine answered him. The boy immediately nodded his head.

ย  ย ย  "Absolutely. We'll do it this weekend."

ย  ย ย  "It's a date." Elaine smiled before patting him on the shoulder and walking over to Scott who was quick to pull her into an embrace, giving her a kiss on the top of the head.

ย  ย ย  "You had me worried there, El. I had no clue how I was going to explain this to mom." Scott sighed.

ย  ย ย  "Well, I'd rather it be me that had died than you. You're her own flesh and blood. I'm only her child through a simple signature."

ย  ย ย  "I wish you would stop saying that, you know." Scott huffed as the two pulled away from the embrace. "You're just as much her daughter as I am her son."

ย  ย ย  "I know." She softly responded. She then tucked a strand of hair behind her ear as she walked back over to the table, jumping up onto it before looking between the two. "So, what have I missed?"

ย  ย ย  "Well, we went to check on Lydia before coming here." Stiles spoke. "The bite she got from Peter hasn't healed. So, that's a good sign. . . I think?"

ย  ย ย  "Won't she die if she doesn't turn?" Elaine asked, frowning.

ย  ย ย  "Well, we thought so too." Scott answered. "But. . . from what mom had updated me on, her stats are still normal. Nothing's really changed."

ย  ย ย  "I was actually going to go to the hospital and check on her." Stiles told her. Elaine looked at him for a moment before nodding her head.

ย  ย ย  "I'll come with." She then looked to Scott. "Tell Allison I'm alive and well."

ย  ย ย  "Yeah." Scott nodded. "Oh, also, we aren't together."

ย  ย ย  "You're not?" Elaine frowned.

ย  ย ย  "Well, we are, but we aren't supposed to be."

ย  ย ย  "Ah, okay. My lips are sealed." Elaine spoke. She got up once more, giving her brother a kiss on the cheek. "I'll see you at home." Scott nodded before the two boys watched as she walked out.

ย  ย ย  "Do you think we should tell her?" Scott asked, glancing towards Stiles.

ย  ย ย  "She's got a lot going on right now." Stiles breathed. "With Lydia in the hospital, the fact that she just came back from the dead, I think telling her that her biological father is actually a werewolf and half the world is going to be hunting her down once she finds out her heritage is too much for her to handle at the moment. When things calm down, we'll tell her."

ย  ย ย  "Or maybe Rebekah should tell her." Scott mumbled.

ย  ย ย  "I agree." Stiles nodded. "I'd much rather her be mad at her biological mother than to be mad at us for not telling her something we weren't sure if we should tell her about."

ย  ย ย  "Stiles!" Elaine's voice echoed from down the hall. Scott nodded for him to go and Stiles patted his shoulder before walking out of the clinic, climbing into his jeep before offering Elaine a small smile, driving them towards the hospital.
