CHAPTER FIFTEEN:
I DON'T TRUST YOU
THE THREE PULLED UP TO the high school, the school vacant of everyone due to the fact that it was night time. The three got out of Stiles' jeep, moving towards the back where Elaine stood in front of her brother and Stiles, her arms crossed over her chest as she glanced between the two with raised eyebrows.
"This is a terrible idea." Stiles commented, looking at Scott.
"For once I agree with him." Elaine piped up.
"I know." Scott sighed.
"But, we're still gonna do it?" Stiles questioned, furrowing his eyebrows.
"Can you think of something better?" Scott questioned, glancing between the two expectantly.
"Well, personally, I'm a fan of ignoring a problem until eventually it just goes away. . ." Stiles trailed off, moving his hand out for emphasis.
"Just make sure we can get inside." Scott quickly told him. Stiles quickly opened the back of his jeep, pulling out bolt cutters and showing it to the two. They turned their attention to another vehicle that had pulled up. "He's here." Whilst in the car, Scott had been the one tot ell Elaine what had taken place at the clinic with their boss, Derek claiming that he was the alpha that was after Scott. They started towards the man as he got out of the car.
"Where's our boss?" Scott asked, glancing towards Elaine as he spoke before looking at Derek expectantly.
"He's in the back." Derek answered. The windows were so dark, that Stiles had to move to the small backseat window in order to see the man who laid in the car, unconscious.
"Oh, well, he looks comfortable." That's when Stiles and Scott started to walk away, Elaine deciding to take a seat on the hood of Derek's car as she watched the two boys head towards the school.
"Waitโ๏ธHey! What are you doing?" Derek quickly asked, making them stop and turn towards him.
"You said I was linked with the Alphaโ๏ธI'm gonna see if you're right." Scott simply answered before the trio continued. Derek looked at the girl who sat on top of his car, her knees pulled to her chest and her her chin placed on her knees.
"Aren't you going with them?" Derek questioned the female. She didn't look at him as she sighed, shaking her head.
"Nope." She stated, popping the 'p'. "I don't trust you. And, the school is way too dark for me to be in there."
"What are you? Afraid of the dark?" The other wolf scoffed.
"It's me of the only things I'm afraid of." She mumbled, though the werewolf could clearly hear her. He moved so that he was leaning against the back of Stiles' jeep, standing right in front of her. The two stood there in silence when suddenly the PA system on and what sounded like a cat being tortured loudly fell from it, making the two cringe.
"You've got to be kidding me." Derek spoke, closing his eyes.
"What the hell was that?" Elaine muttered. When it finally stopped, the duo shared a look with one another. When the PA turned on once again, instead of a dying cat, a loud howl fell from it. Elaine removed her position from the car, looking towards the school with wide eyes whilst Derek did the same. The duo stood there, watching as Scott and Stiles made their way out and towards them.
"I'm gonna kill both of you." Derek snapped. "What the hell was that? What are you trying to do, attract the entire state to the school?"
"Sorry. . . I didn't know it would be that loud." Scott sheepishly said.
"Yeah, it was loud." Stiles said with a laugh. "And it was awesome!"
"Shut up." Derek spoke, staring blankly at the boy.
"Don't be such a sour wolf." Stiles responded, Elaine forcing herself to look down at the ground as a smile of amusement fell over her face. However, it fell when Scott spoke, causing her to look up at him with furrowed eyebrows.
"What'd you do with him?"
"What?" They turned their attention to the car, only to see that it was now empty. "I didn't do anything." Suddenly, blood started coming from Derek's mouth, making Elaine turn to him with wide eyes. The alpha stood behind the man, his claws stabbing him, lifting him up in the air. Elaine stared at the wolf with fear coating her eyes. He was right in front of her. Scott quickly grabbed onto his sister, pulling her towards him as the three all made their way into the school. They quickly got in, slamming the front doors closed as they kneeled down in front of them.
"Lock it!" Scott quickly yelled. "Lock it!"
"Do I look like I have a key?!" Stiles yelled back. As Stiles and Scott bickered back and forth, Elaine sat there, remembering when she had been locked inside of the clinic. Or rather, the words that had been used to keep her from getting out. She couldn't believe she was really about this, or hell if it would even work, however, she stopped herself when she saw Stiles stand up. She quickly joined his side along with Scott, only to see what the boy was looking at.
"Stiles, no." Both teenagers quickly told him. However, he ignored them as he slipped outside, looking around before heading towards the bolt cutters that weren't too far from the door. That's when the two saw the giant werewolf creep from behind Stiles' jeep. The two quickly pounded on the windows, yelling for Stiles to get back inside. Stiles turned his attention away from them, and onto the wolf who looked at him for a moment before charging. Stiles quickly grabbed the bolt cutters, scrambling up and running before slipping inside. He used the bolt cutters as a seal, making the three quietly stand there. They backed away from the doors after trying to find the creature.
"That won't hold, will it?" Scott asked.
"Probably not." Stiles truthfully answered. That's when a loud howl fell, making the three exchange looks before quickly running down the halls. They quickly ran into a classroom, pushing a desk towards the door only for Stiles to stop them.
"Stop, stop. The door's not gonna keep it out."
"I know." Scott sighed.
"It's your boss." Stiles spoke, looking between the two siblings.
"What?" They questioned in unison, furrowing their eyebrows as they looked towards the boy.
"Deaton? The Alpha? Your boss."
"No." They once again spoke in unison, giving each other weird looks before looking back towards Stiles.
"Yes! Murdering psycho-Werewolf."
"That can't be." Scott denied whilst Elaine shook her head.
"Oh, come on!" Stiles exclaimed. "He disappears, and that thing shows up ten seconds later to toss Derek twenty feet through the air? That's not convenient timing?"
"It's not him." Scott speaks, determined to prove that to the boy.
"He killed Derek."
"No, Derek's not dead. He can't be dead." Scott quickly stuttered out.
"Blood spurted out of his mouth, okay? That doesn't exactly qualify as a minor injury. He's dead, and we're next."
"Okay, justโ๏ธWhat do we do?" Scott panicked.
"We get to my Jeep. We get out of here. You two seriously think about quitting your job." Stiles responded before glancing between them. "Good?" The trio quickly moved from the desk and over to the windows, Scott trying to open it only for Stiles to say, "No, they don't open. The school's climate-controlled."
"Then we break it." Scott suggested.
"Which will make a lot of noise."
"Absolutely not." Elaine hissed, looking at him with wide eyes.
"Then, uh. . . then we run really fast. Really fast." There was a pause before Scott spoke again. "Stiles, what's wrong with the hood of your jeep?"
"What do you mean? Nothing's wrong-"
"It's bent." Elaine interrupted, taking a look a that jeep for herself, frowning slightly.
"What, like, dented?" Stiles questioned.
"No, I meant bent. Like, deformed."
"What the hell hapโ๏ธ" However, Stiles was cut off by something being thrown through the window, sending the three quickly ducking with glass flying everywhere. Stiles was quick to lean his body over Elaine as if to protect her from getting sliced by the glass. They paused before looking up, exchanging looks once they realized it was the jeeps battery.
