CHAPTER EIGHTY-FIVE:
DIVINE MOVE

SHE DIDN'T PLAY IN HIS last game. In fact, she broke off from the nogitsune, because he was getting on her nerves, and she was simply waiting for her time that would soon come. She knew his last play, she knew exactly what his last play was. She she stood there in the school halls, leaning against some of the lockers and just standing there and waiting for the others to appear. She knew they would win, in fact, she was counting on it.

She turned her head, quickly tuning invisible when Kira, Scott, Stiles, and Lydia all came flying into the school hallway. She watched as Scott looked down at his clothes to find no blood, or tears in his shirt from where they had walked through the oni, from where they had walked through the illusion. Elaine smirked as she watched the group carefully.

"We're okay." Scott breathed. "We'reโ€•๏ธŽ" And then he was thrown roughly into the lockers, making the group jump to see void Stiles. He appeared in front of Kira, offering her a smile before quickly looking towards Lydia and Stiles who were slowly backing away from him.

"This was my game." The nogitsune spoke, looking down at Kira before looking towards Stiles and Lydia. "You think you can beat me at my game." He started walking towards the two. "Divine move. Divine move. You think you have any moves at all? You can kill the oni. But me? Me? I'm a thousand years old. You can't kill me!"

"But we can change you!" Lydia yelled.

"What?"

"You forgot about the scroll." Stiles told him.

"The Shugendo scroll." Lydia finished.

The nogitsune looked at them for a moment before realizing. "Change the host."

"You can't be a fox and a wolf." And that's when Scott came up behind him and bit his arm. He let out a yell and that's when Elaine decided to make an appearance. She appeared behind the nogitsune and shoved her hand right through his chest. She ripped her hand out, and crushed the "heart" into dust and smirking as the bug flew from his mouth and they trapped it in the Triskele box before the nogitsune crumbled to the ground in dust that disappeared from the ground. The group all looked at her and she smirked.

"God, he was getting annoying, wasn't he?" Elaine hummed. She cocked her head slightly as she looked at Stiles, smiling in amusement as his eyes rolled to the back of his head and he fell to the ground. "You better wake him up soon. Because if I were you, I would be checking on the twins."

"What did you do to the twins?" Scott asked.

"Me? Oh, absolutely nothing. Sweetheart, you haven't a single clue what I'm about to do." She smirked at them, the veins growing on her face and her eyes turning black. "You think the nogitsune was bad? Just wait." And then, she was gone.

She appeared in a warehouse, confusion written over her face. This isn't where she wanted to go. The sound of something circling her caused her eyes to turn black. She went forwards only to bounce back by an unseen barrier. She looked around, noticing the black ash that surrounded her. Mountain ash. She looked up, watching as Rebekah made her way out of the shadows.

"Mother dearest." Elaine breathed. "You know, this won't hold me for long."

"It'll hold long enough." Rebekah nodded her head.

"What? You plan on killing your own daughter?" Elaine let out an amused laugh. "Now, now, Rebekah. You know you can't get rid of me."

"You're right about that." Rebekah nodded her head. "I just want to speak to my daughter. Just for a minute. Then you can have her body back."

Elaine cocked an eyebrow. "Seriously?"

"Seriously."

She rolled her eyes before closing them. Rebekah watched the black veins disappear before Elaine opened her eyes again to reveal her daughters blue irises. Tears immediately filled her eyes as she looked around. "Mom? What's happening?"

"Elaine, I want you to listen to me, alright." Rebekah whispered, breaking the line in order to step into the circle with her daughter before fixing it. She placed a hand on Elaine's cheek and offered her daughter a gentle smile. "I wish I had more time to explain to you about what it is that's going to happen to you. And because I can't, there's another journal that I've placed on your bookshelf. It's everything that you need to know about hybrids."

Elaine cocked her head slightly, tears still glossing her eyes. "Hybrids? I don'tโ€•๏ธŽI don't understand."

"I know, baby, I know." Rebekah tried to hold back her own tears. "I wish we had more time together, but I want you to know that I don't regret dropping you off here. Because you have this great group of friends that I know will do everything in their power to protect you, and that they will love you always. Something I couldn't do your entire life."

"I don't understandโ€•๏ธŽ"

"I want you to know that's it's okay." Rebekah nodded, offering her a small smile. "I want you to know that I forgive you. And that I love you more than I have ever loved anyone."

"Momโ€•๏ธŽ"

"It's okay." Rebekah repeated before closing her eyes. "Alright."

Elaine looked at her mother in confusion before panicking as she felt that darkness try to take over again. She tried to fight it, she tried so hard, but she failed. Her eyes turned black and the veins grew on her face once more as she smirked at Rebekah. "Dumb idea. You trapped yourself in here with me."

"I know exactly what I did." Rebekah snarled. She grabbed Elaine's wrist, shoving a knife into it before taking the hand and stabbing herself in the chest.

Elaine's eyes widened. "No!"

Rebekah smirked. "Got you, bitch." And then, the woman fell to the ground, dead. Elaine had killed an innocent person. Elaine had killed the woman that she had hated for so long, but quickly learned to love once she understood the story. She could feel something start to fight the darkness in her, and she screamed out in protest before her eyes rolled to the back of her head.

She didn't know how long she had been out, only that it was morning when she woke up and she could see the silhouette of four people making their way towards her. Elaine sat up carefully looking around herself in confusion before she saw her mother's dead body. Her eyes welled with tears as she quickly crawled over to her, rolling her over to see a knife in her chest. She then noticed the dried blood on her hands. She looked up at Scott, Stiles, Lydia, and Kira with tears in her eyes.

"What did I do?"

"Exactly what Rebekah wanted." Scott answered her before bending down and marking a line in the ash.

"Did Iโ€•๏ธŽ" Elaine I swallowed. "I did. I killed her. I killed my mom." She stood up as panic started to develop in her chest. She looked towards Scott and Stiles. "You knew this was going to happen?"

"Elaine. . ." Stiles started. That's when Elaine let out a pained cry, covering her ears as everything became loud. She could hear everything all at once and it hurt. When she looked at them, this time her eyes were glowing blue. Teeth turned into fangs and nails turned into claws, her wolf side had officially been activated.

"What's happening to her?" Lydia whispered, her eyes wide.

Scott looked at his sister before answering, "After killing her mother, her wolf side has been activated. She's a full hybrid."

It took awhile, but she didn't leave her mother's body until she calmed down. Kira had to go home to her family, but Lydia wasn't going to leave her there, having a feeling that something between Elaine, Stiles and Scott was about to go down. When she finally managed to control the claws and fangs, she looked down at her mother as she spoke to the two boys.

"Did you know?" Elaine whispered.

"Elโ€•๏ธŽ" Scott started, but Elaine cut him off.

She let out a laugh, shaking her head. "I really hope not. Because the dark side of me told me that you two have known since the first time I died. That was almost two years ago." She looked up at them, frustrated tears in her eyes. "Tell me that you didn't know. That there wasn't any sign, or any warning that this was going to happen to me."

"Rebekah said to just let it play out." Stiles told her and she closed her eyes. She felt betrayed. Her brother and her boyfriend had kept this from her. A tear slipped from her eye.

"El, we're sorry." Scott apologized.

Elaine swallowed thickly as she stood up, holding out her hand, only to see it was shaking. She clenched her jaw. "Ignalusa." They watched as her mother's body caught on fire. "Before you panic, mom said to burn her body if she were to ever die, that's how the Smith's like to go out seeing as we're the most hunted family. And now, I'm the most hunted supernatural create that's to exist, and you two decided it be best not to warn me, to at least let me prepare."

"Elโ€•๏ธŽ"

"I'll see you at home." Elaine whispered to her brother before shoving past him and right past Lydia who sighed, glancing towards the two before quickly following after Elaine, hoping to calm her down.
