CHAPTER THIRTY ONE ━━ broken glass

A Chimera laid next to a red headed tribrid. His lips twitched upwards as his blue orbs took in her features; her plump lips pink from the red lipstick she had worn hours prior now smudged off. Her eyes blinked from her shut eyes, indicated she was having a nightmare.

Ophelia's lips formed into a frown as flashes of her niece formed before her eyes, alongside a familiar friend or two. Her fingers twitched every so often, she watched as the dirty blonde was held in what looked like to be a cage in a dark basement.

Theo furrowed his brows watching Ophelia's uncomfortable state. Raising his hand he traced his finger tips against her jawline to her plump lips.

Ophelia blinked herself awake abruptly.

"You're starring." She murmured shoving her face into her pillow.

"I'm gazing." He corrected with a small smile.

"It's creepy." She remarked, her doe eyes looking into Theo's calm blue one's.

"It's romantic." He retorted.

Ophelia's cheeks tinted pink, shoving her face into the Chimera's exposed chest. Theo smiled kissing the crown of her head, twirling her long locks between his finger tips.

Leaning his head down he placed chaste kisses on her exposed shoulder. "We should probably get up." He murmured into her neck.

Ophelia sighed and nodded. Reaching for her phone she furrowed her brows reading, "No service." She mumbled.

"Hmm?" Theo hummed sitting up on his elbows.

"I have no service." She repeated in confusion.

Theo squinted his eyes at the iPhone and reached for his own, seeing he to had no service. "Same here."

Ophelia sat up clutching the duvet's sheets to her chest. "We need to call Scott." She said scrolling through her phone.

Theo groaned, "Seriously? After what we did yesterday, you're thinking about the guy who was obsessed with you for how long?" He wrapped his broad arms around her waist pulling her back into his chest.

"No, if we can't call anyone. It means they're targeting our communication. Which means we don't know when the hell my family will be back with everyone, or if they even got everyone."

Theo gnawed on his lip, sitting up he threw the blankets off of him. Ophelia's cheeks turned scarlet as she immediately looked away from the naked Chimera.

Theo smirked, "You weren't complaining last night, angel." He murmured into her ear kissing the soft surface. "I'll be right back."

Ophelia smiled faintly watching as he entered her ensuite, clothes in his hands.

Her lips formed into a frown as she looked down to her bracelet. Her doe eyes trailed back to the wooden door across from her.

▂▂▂▂

OPHELIA followed behind Theo, the two stood in the Original's living room. She gnawed on her bottom lip as Lydia, Peter, Kai and Theo looked to the tribrid and witch with wide eyes.

"You knew about this and didn't tell anyone?" Peter accused, narrowing his eyes at the red head. "You and Lydia need to stop keeping things from me." He grumbled.

Ophelia parted her lips in guilt looking to the group in front of her.

"How could you not tell us?" Lydia questioned her best friend.

Ophelia shook her head unable to form words, she looked to Theo who stood back avoiding her eyes. Taking everything in.

"She didn't know." Bonnie explained. "When we saw the visions, we didn't know it was because of the Anuk-ite."

"So you decided keeping this from us was the better option?" Lydia pressed, her green eyes held disbelief.

"I-I didn't- look, we don't have enough time for this we need to hurry and find the other's." Ophelia stammered looking between the four. "You guys can hate me later just, we need to stop it before it kills everyone."

"Is there anything else we should know?" Kai asked the two in front of him. He raised a thick brow looking between the two girls.

Bonnie glanced to Ophelia who inhaled sharply. "No. Uh, that was all we saw." She lied swiftly.

With a nod the group began to exit the red head's house. Leaving Theo and Ophelia behind.

Ophelia looked up now noticing Theo towering above her, "I am the last one to judge or be mad at you or anyone. But I thought what we shared yesterday meant we were together." He shyly explained, Ophelia looked down in guilt. "And with that comes trust, and honesty. I'm being 100% honest with you when I say I'm doing this for you."

"Dont." She shook her head.

"You just need to hear it, just once." He said, raising his hands in defence. "I would die for you." Ophelia clenched her jaw. Looking away from the Chimera, this seemed to be a constant for her when they were faced with danger.

"Don't say that." She muttered, sniffling.

"Already did." He sadly smiled looking down at her.

"No." Ophelia shook her head. "You're not supposed to say that. Y-you're supposed to be selfish, and-and look out for yourself. You aren't supposed to die for me, no-no one is." She stammered, pulling out of his grasp.

Theo firmly grabbed her hands in his once again, halting her from moving away from him anymore. "In case you haven't noticed, I'm not the same Theo I was when Kira dragged my ass to hell."

"No, no." She shook her head.

"Yes. No one has ever in my life made me care about anything or anyone like you have. Even when I was in hell, I could hear your voice, I saw you. You're what got me through it." He nodded, Ophelia's doe eyes breamed with tears as she struggled against his hold. "You're the reason I'm even here. Why I haven't given up."

"Please, don't say it." She whimpered shaking her head.

"Ophelia Mikaelson." Theo nervously smiled, raising his hand to her cheek. He placed her fiery hair behind her ear. "I love you." He said softly, his eyes locked on her own. As he spoke the words she had yearned to hear from him but also feared the most.

Parting her lips she pulled away, Theo's smile fell. His chest ached seeing the look the was worn on the tribrid's face.

"We need to go now." Lydia entered the house, telling the couple in an urgent tone.

▂▂▂▂

THE six arrived to the bridge and storage units. Seeing Malia, Scott, Deucalion, Hayley and Elijah Mikaelson. Ophelia exited the car, not glancing behind her to a sad and frustrated Theo Raeken.

Ophelia engulfed Hayley and Elijah into a hug followed by Deucalion.

"Hello, little Theia." He smiled down at the red head. Ophelia smiled up at the man she considered a father figure.

"What-what are you guys doing here?" Scott stammered looking to his friends.

"They're coming, Monroe and more." Peter said to the Alpha. "And they have heavy firepower."

"Niklaus and Caroline are on their way back from helping Davina and Kol locate the witches. Marcellus and Rebekah are still on the hunt for the vampires and wolves." Elijah explained to the group.

"How do you know?" Ophelia asked looking up at her older brother.

"Find my iPhone." He raised his iPhone in the air to the pack.

Ophelia nodded in understanding and slight amusement, she pulled away from Deucalion.

Just as she pulled away from the former Alpha, shots echoed the area.

"Get down!" Hayley shouted to the group.

Deucalion's body shook above Ophelia's. "Run." He muttered weakly, as he fell forwards onto the pavement.

It was as if everything was in slow motion for Ophelia Mikaelson.

Another life; lost. In a matter of seconds.

Ophelia looked down with parted lips, she stood frozen her eyes looked up and was met with Monroe's dark ones. A smirk graced the woman's lips.

"NO!" She cried, her body lurched forwards only to be pulled back by Theo. "NO, NO!" She struggled against his hold, only for him to tighten his grip on her smaller frame pulling her behind a column.

He held her sobbing and shaky body against his own, covering her ears with the palms of his hands. "No, please, don't be dead!" She sobbed into Theo's chest, her hands hitting the Chimera's jacket covered chest. "NO!"

Theo glanced over his shoulder seeing the group dispersed around the area for some sort of cover. He looked over to Scott seeing a hunter in front of him. "Scott! Look out!" He shouted over the gun fire.

Scott widened his eyes at the hunter who raised his shot gun to his head. Only for a familiar blue jeep to send the man flying to the floor.

"Didn't think you're doing this without me, did you?" Stiles Stilinski questioned his best friend.

"Without us?" Derek Hale corrected the FBI agent in training.

Theo gently placed Ophelia down, "Stay here." He instructed. He sprinted away jumping on one of the hunters attacking them, alongside the pack.

Ophelia blinked herself out of her trance and looked over to her right, Deucalion's body laid against a crate weakly. She crawled over to his body; not caring about the gun fire that surrounded her.

She bit into her wrist bringing it up to his mouth, only to have her hand be halted by his own weakly. "No." He muttered weakly.

"No, you need to drink." She shook her head sniffling. "Drink." She ordered bringing her wrist back to his mouth.

Deucalion smiled weakly at the red head, "You've grown so much." He said through bloodied teeth.

The pack watched as Monroe and her group fled into their jeeps driving away.

They walked over to the Original and the former alpha.

"Please, just drink." She begged, her voice cracking by the second. She held his hand in her free one.

Deucalion shook his head, "Gerard... what he fears the most. He can't beat you." He grunted looking up at Scott then to Ophelia.

"Deucalion don't be foolish." Elijah shook his head kneeling next to his sister.

"This isn't me being foolish, Elijah. This is me excepting my fate. It is my time." Scott's eyes breamed with tears as he looked down at the wolf. "I know you will do the right thing, little light." He said to a whimpering Ophelia. He looked up meeting Theo's eyes and nodded to the teen. "I'll be by your side. Always and forever."

Ophelia shook her head, his hand fell from her grasp onto the floor. She hiccuped, her eyes locked on Deucalion's limp frame.

"It's started, hasn't it?" Malia asked from behind her best friend. A frown evident on her features.

"What's started?" Stiles asked.

"It's an all-out war." Scott clenched his jaw, removing his gaze from the red head to his best friend. He looked to Derek and hugged the man.

"As much as I enjoy the impromptu family reunion. What are you doing here?" Peter questioned his nephew.

"I found a pack slaughtered in Brazil. My guess is, you two already knew that." Derek nodded to Hayley and Elijah who both nodded. "There were two words written in blood on a wall. 'Beacon Hills."

"You came back for Beacon Hills?" Scott asked the wolf.

"No. I came back for you." He said to Scott.

"Blood and destruction." A voice echoed through Stiles' radio. "Dreadful objects so familiar. All pity choked with custom of fell deeds."

The pack made their way over to the jeep.

Ophelia sat next to Deucalion's body emotionlessly. Theo sent a nod to Derek who frowned looking down at the red head. The Chimera stayed by the tribrid's side listening in.

"Caesar's spirit, ranging for revenge. With Ate by his side come hot from hell. Shall in these confines with a monarch's voice." Gerard's voice came through in a static. "Do you know the rest Scott? Do you know your Shakespeare?"

"Cry, 'Havoc!' and let slip the dogs of war." Elijah recited, next to Derek.

"War. Indeed. You must all be feeling rather nostalgic. Are you pleased with your little family reunion I've gathered around you, Scott?"

"Yeah, well, why don't you join us and I can thank you in person?"

"I even have a few visitors for you, and the almighty Mikaelson family. From London and Mystic Falls." Gerard said over the radio. Ophelia's ears perked up upon hearing the two locations. "Even someone like Jackson Whittmore couldn't resist coming back to Beacon Hills. Say hello, Jackson."

Screams echoed through the radio's talkie.

Ophelia stood to her feet and eyed the jeep with hard eyes.

"Do it again, old man. Come a little closer. I'm gonna shove that thing so far up your ass!" Jackson shouted. "He hasn't lost his charm now has he? How about you?" Gerard taunted. "Little wolf."

Ophelia's eyes darkened as she sped over next to enraged Hayley Mikaelson.

"Touch my daughter again and I swear to God I'll rip you apart." She seethed into the talkie in Scott's hand.

"You can find them both here with us at the Armoury. In fact, I'm going to tell you where to find all of them. Your deputy Hellhound met some friends of his while responding to call at Eichen House. Your father was on his way back from San Francisco with the goal of entering the fight." Scott tightened his grip on the speaker. "You might want to tell your mother to skip her shift at the hospital tonight. Liam and his friends are there now. Let's not forget about the vampire couple; Marcel and Rebekah. Those two were on their way back with some friends of theirs, until they ran into some trouble. We're still on the hunt for the witch and her husband but something tells me they are relatively close."

"You touch my family and I will rip you apart." Ophelia hissed into the talkie.

"Ah, Ophelia I was beginning to think you skipped town the moment that boy was killed; what was their names? Oh yes, Brett and Lori." Ophelia's face paled. "This is how you wage war, something you and your family are highly familiar with. A strategic positioning of your army against theirs. Which is why you will come to me. You will try to save as many as you can. And you might even save a few. But your limited resources will be spread thin. And ultimately you will all fail. The dogs of war, they're coming for you-"

Scott crushed the speaker in his hand. Knowing war was to come.
