CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE โโ pressure test
OPHELIA leant against the concrete wall, a glare prominent in her doe orbs. The red head glanced to Theo who stood across from her, with a frown. She could feel his oceanic blue eyes on her every so often; whether it was to see if she was okay, or if she was still there. Ophelia continued to check her phone for any sort of signal, to get at least one text out to her family. To add onto her frustration, she continued to get no bars.
Theo furrowed his brows hearing rattling in the heart of the station. Narrowing his eyes he eyed the flashbang. His worried orbs met with Ophelia's body just 10 feet away from the object.
"Everyone get down!" Within seconds he sprinted over grabbing the red head by her waist and shoving her down to the floor behind him, his back facing the explosion.
A distance hum echoed through Ophelia's ears, through foggy eyes she looked around the station. The body above her helped her to her feet, their hands laid against her hips longer than he had realized. Brown met blue. Theo cleared this throat pulling away from the red head, much to their dismay.
"They said midnight!" Noah exclaimed.
"The grenade came from in here." Jordan explained to the sheriff. "It was one of us." She and Theo listened in on the deputy and the sheriff.
Ophelia and Theo walked over to Scott and Malia, the four nodded to one another. Indicating they were okay.
"Wolfsbane." Liam shoved Nolan through the pack, he raised the purple vile up to the four. "He was trying to kill them."
Ophelia narrowed her eyes on the purple substance, then met with Nolan's frightened blue orbs. Tilting her head to the side, she sped the freckled face boy away from preying eyes into a secluded room. She shoved him harshly against the bulletin board behind his body.
"I-I'm sorry! I didn't have a-a choice!" Nolan weakly exclaimed, his heart beat erratically against his ribcage. "P-please, don't do kill me."
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't kill you." She snarled in the boy's face. Nolan shut his eyes avoiding, the beautiful red head's intimidating eyes.
"Lia, don't!" Scott raising his hand to the enraged red head. Liam, Malia, Theo, and Lydia stood beside the True Alpha watching the tribrid.
"Was Liam, right? Did you know about Satomi's pack?" She asked. Nolan whimpered unable to form words. Showing him harshly back into the wall once again she asked, "DID YOU?!" She shrieked in the boy's face.
"No, no. Please, I didn't know." He cried, shaking his head viciously back and forth.
A hand grasped Ophelia's wrist gently, "Don't do this." Scott whispered to the red head. "I know you. You wouldn't do this." He said softly, his soft brown orbs meeting her own.
"Scott, there's something else you need to see." Liam piped up from beside an irritated Theo Raeken.
Ophelia let go of the human and stomped out of the office, into the station. Malia followed her best friend followed by Lydia. "Hey, hey." Malia grabbed Ophelia's forearm halting the red head's movements. "What's wrong?" Malia questioned. The coyote glanced around the station seeing eyes look to the group warily, she dragged the red head into Noah's office. Lydia trailing behind.
Theo stood outside the office raising his hand sin defence seeing the coyote and banshee's glares.
"Look, I know I wasn't here when Erica died and when the girl from arrow died too. But, I seriously need to know what hell has gotten into you. I get it, you lost two people you cared about again. But, there's something else, and no one's telling me about it." Malia rambled. She hated being left out of the loop especially when it came to her best friends and the people she loved.
Lydia shook her head, "Malia-"
"It's happening again." Ophelia said below her breath. Lydia frowned leaning against the wooden desk.
"What is?" Malia questioned with furrowed brows.
"Escaping my father was one thing. Being on the run for over a thousand years, from him and hunters. That was just my family and I. Now, it's you guys, my family, strangers. They are after all of us, and there's nothing we can do besides go to war. But, Scott doesn't want that. And I'm scared I'll do something-" She rushed out, tears breamed her eyes. Lydia wrapped her arms around the red head's shoulders.
She knew how this would all end. She was ready for it. But, she didn't know she'd be losing people she loved along the way. That was never apart of the plan, and there was nothing she could do about it but be prepared for the war to come.
"We'll be fine, O. We'll all be okay." Malia frowned walking over to her best friends.
"She's right." Lydia nodded, "We just need to get through tonight and come up with something. We're not losing anyone else." She promised the red head. The three girls engulfed one another in a hug.
"Wait, does being a psychic come with the banshee thing?" Malia asked the strawberry blonde.
Ophelia breathed out a chuckle alongside Lydia.
"What? I just-" Malia began only to be cut off by glass shattering.
"What the hell was that?" Lydia asked pulling away from the two girls.
The trio exited the office seeing an arrow lodged into the wall across from them.
Ophelia narrowed her eyes at the object, then the smell. She walked over grasping the metal object, looking down at the green material in her hands. Blood coated the white number eight.
"It's Brett's number." Liam gritted out looking down at the ripped material.
Theo worriedly glanced to Ophelia.
"They're trying to rattle us." Lydia voiced up.
Chairs behind the pack flew to the floor, startling not only the pack but the humans across from them.
"It's working." Theo lowly growled.
A screamed rattled the walls of the station. Noah and Parrish quickly made their way around the teenagers to the sound.
Blood filled the tribrid's senses. "Blood." She murmured, just as a gun shot rang through her ears.
โโโโ
OPHELIA'S narrowed eyes looked out the blinds of the station. She eyed the numerous hunters, just as an idea struck the red head whose lips twitched upwards. She brushed past a confused Liam and Theo, to Scott.
"I may have an idea." She announced.
Scott followed behind Ophelia to Theo and Liam.
"I watched two guys bring them in and tie them up." He explained to the alpha, wincing at his time he had spent being chained up. Ophelia frowned hearing the boy's words, the two glanced to one another.
"Okay, but how long did they actually have Tierney and Jiang?" Scott questioned the Chimera, breaking his trance from the red head.
Theo shook his head, "A couple hours, maybe." He guessed standing next to the red head.
"Did she see them?" Ophelia questioned the boy.
"No. I don't think so." Theo shook his head, his blue orbs meeting Ophelia's. He could see the gears working behind her eyes. "Just that one guy from Eichen. And maybe one or two guys with shotguns. I think they were waiting for Monroe to do the real interrogating."
"Why does it matter?" Noah questioned the tribrid.
"She wants two bodies? We give her two bodies." She smirked.
"As long as it keeps other's from being killed. I'm open to anything right now." Noah nodded to the red head.
"Monroe said she wanted Jiang and Tierney brought out." Scott nodded, understanding where the tribrid meant. "Dead or alive."
โโโโ
GUN shots echoed the station. Ophelia nodded to the sheriff who placed his pistol back into the holster of his pants. "Five minutes." He announced to Theo, Scott and Ophelia.
"You should stay-" Scott and Theo both began in unison looking to the Original, then to one another with raised brows.
"Oh, I'm not missing this." Ophelia shook her head, "I have some words for Monroe." She stood to her feet, she unlocked the door allowing both Scott and Theo to drag the body bags out the door. Noah followed behind the red head out the doors.
"Yoohoo, wicked witch of Beacon Hills." Ophelia sang out, the hunters eyed the red head and the two boys in hatred and disgust. "Do I look that bad?" She teased the hunters who raised their shotguns to her. "A simple 'yes' or 'no' would have sufficed." She muttered rolling her eyes.
Monroe glared at the red head walking towards the four.
"They tried to run. And tried to take a couple of deputies with them." Noah lied swiftly through his teeth. "Either way. You got what you wanted."
"Let me see their faces." Monroe demanded.
"You're gonna turn them to stone, Medusa?" Theo scoffed, only to receive a warning nudge from Scott.
"I wouldn't test my patience." Monroe tilted her head tauntingly to the Chimera. "Wouldn't want her precious nieces to die so soon." She nodded to the Original. Theo balled his fists, his claws digging into the palms of his hands. Ophelia made advances only for Noah to pull her back gently, as Scott sent daggers to the huntress.
Scott nodded to an angered Theo Raeken. The two teens unzipped the bags revealing the dead deputies to the huntress.
"You don't recognize them?" Ophelia asked, hiding her worry with a head tilt.
"Show me their tattoos." She demanded looking from Ophelia then to the two teens.
She mentally cursed to herself, how could she be so stupid she thought to herself. Both boys glanced to one another then to Ophelia.
"What tattoos?" Scott questioned the huntress.
"The pack symbol."
"I was hoping for a fight." Theo muttered lowly only for Ophelia and Scott to hear.
"Show it to me." She demanded.
Ophelia gnawed on her lip, "Why are you doing this?" She asked trying to by sometime.
"I already said why-" Monroe rolled her eyes at the red head.
"You can't possibly be so enraged with our people you'd do such a thing as to kill off hundreds even thousands of supernatural beings; innocent or not." She shook her head.
"I am and I will." Monroe remarked. "Your father did the right thing, chasing you and your family down. Although it was he and your mother who began the whole thing of vampires. So, perhaps he wasn't completely right. But I will be honest, you and your family being on the run for over a thousand years, that's..." She trailed off, "Impressive."
"You don't know anything about my family." She hissed with narrowed eyes.
"Oh, sweetheart. I do." Monroe's lips twitched upwards. "How else do you think I found the white oak stake?" She questioned. "Granted, the only one left to die and wipe out their entire sireline is well, you. But that would take care of thousands of your kind. We, can surely handle the rest." Ophelia swallowed a lump in her throat. "You guys didn't really think everything through, did you? You all thought, you could all live happily ever after. Like some pathetic poem or a child's fairytale. You'd find love and start a family." She glanced to Theo who avoided the woman's dark eyes. "Only this, right here." She pointed down to the ground, "It's more of a Shakespearean play, wouldn't you agree? Everything ends in death."
"It's a good thing you're not the only ones who can negotiate." A familiar voice echoed from behind the hunters. Before Monroe could retort back to the tribrid.
"Dad?" Scott furrowed his brows in confusion. "What are you doing here?"
"Making sure no one else dies tonight."
โโโโ
"SCOTT, are you sure about this?" Ophelia questioned narrowing her eyes at the man.
"I'm not. This deal sucks." Liam grumbled from beside the red head.
"But it's the only one on the table." Rafe McCall announced. "In a situation like this, the best solution is always to de-escalate. It's why you called me, isn't it?" He questioned looking to Noah.
"To be honest, I didn't think anyone was gonna show up." Noah admitted shaking his head to the Agent.
Ophelia leant back and sighed, "I hate running." She murmured. Theo frowned at the red head's words. He glanced to her smaller hand, hesitantly he laced his fingers in her's. Easing his anxiety as well as her's. Brown met blue.
"Me too." Theo agreed quietly.
Malia nodded in agreement alongside Liam. The pack looked to their Alpha awaiting his decision.
Scott looked to his pack and nodded hesitantly, "Okay." He voiced up, shocking the pack. "We'll go."
The McCall pack exited the sheriff's station. Glaring to the hunters, and a smirking Monroe.
Ophelia glanced to Nolan who frowned looking to the red head. Avoiding her intimating eyes he quickly walked over to Gabe and the other hunters.
Theo squeezed the red head's hand in his. The two hadn't let go of one another's grasps since being in inside of the Beacon Hills Sheriff Station. Knowing if either one let go, worry and negative thoughts would consume both of them. The two knew they needed one another, even if it was just with a simple glance knowing the other was near them or a simple touch, anything. Theodore Raeken was quickly becoming her anchor. Just as Ophelia Theia, Mikaelson was his.
The pack watched as Jiang and Tierney were escorted into a swat van. The blonde mouthed, 'thank you.' Scott send a nod to the blonde indicating she'd be okay.
โโโโ
OPHELIA rummaged through her closet shoving necessities into her black duffle bag. The red head came across a green lacrosse jersey; much like the one Monroe had sent in the station as a message to the McCall pack. She swallowed thickly inhaling the familiar scent, shoving the Devenford Prep shirt into her bag she continued shoving things of importance to her. Drawings, jewellery, etc.
Theo watched from the door way with a frown. He had all his belongings already in a truck. The two had gone back to Ophelia's house without uttering a word, as if an instinct the two knew where they were going. As if their minds could communicate with one another.
Ophelia stood to her feet knocking her sister's grimoire down to the floor. She cursed under her breath, falling to her knees she grabbed the book. Theo crouched to her level and grabbed the book from her shaky hands. "I got it." He said softly, placing the book in his arms.
Ophelia nodded standing to her feet zipping up her bag. Theo placed the thick brown book over top of her bag.
"Hey." Theo stood in front of the red head, looking down at her only for her to avoid his gaze. "I hate this just as much as you do. You know that, you know I hate running." He gnawed on his lip. "But, I'm glad we're doing this together." He admitted softly.
Ophelia's doe eyes watered as she looked out the window of her bedroom. "I'm sorry." She breathed out. Theo furrowed his brows in confusion not understanding the red head's words. "I'm so sorry." She whimpered shaking her head.
Theo pulled Ophelia into his chest hugging her tightly against him. He rubbed her back gently, "You have nothing to apologize for." He murmured into her ear, kissing the soft surface.
I will be. She thought to herself as she allowed herself be cradled by the boy.
"I meant what I said, I'm not leaving you." He assured the beautiful girl. "Not again." He said firmly looking into her doe eyes. "She'll have to kill me-"
"Please, don't say that." Ophelia shook her head, "Please."
"I don't care what happens to me." He continued, Ophelia shook her head rapidly, tears slowly streamed down her reddened cheeks. "Look at me." He demanded, lifting her chin up meeting her reddened eyes. "I don't care what happens to me. But, I'm not letting anyone you love die. I'm not letting you die."
"Why?" She asked sniffling.
Theo parted his lips, swallowing thickly he shook his head as he thought out his next words carefully. "Because, you're the only one I have. And if you die, I will literally go out of my fricking mind."
Ophelia giggled through her tears, "That sounds familiar." She thought.
Theo placed the palms of his hands on the red head's cheeks delicately. "I was stupid for leaving you. I thought, you'd be better off. But, I just made you feel more alone then you did before." He shook his head in regret. "Yanno, sometimes I could hear you." He admitted, Ophelia furrowed her brows. "I don't know if it was hell teaching me a lesson or Tara. But, I c-could hear you. There were times where I'd see you. You looked so hurt and broken even when you were with everyone." He shook his head, "And I still thought, you'd be okay on your own. I thought Brett, he-he could help you." Ophelia sniffled looking down at the mention of the blonde, "My point is. I'm not leaving you. Unless, you want me too."
His blue orbs looked into her doe ones. Knowing she'd regret her answer later, her shaky voiced echoed through his ears. "Please don't leave me too." She broke down in a plead.
And with those five words, Theo wrapped his arms around the red head. Fearing she'd disappear before his eyes. "Then I won't, angel."
โโโโ
THE McCall pack stood in the veterinarian clinic of Beacon Hills awaiting for a few familiars face to show up. Ophelia leant against the wall beside Theo, the two hand in hand. To say the pack was slightly confused seeing the two together so close would be an understatement. No one dared questioned the tribrid knowing she needed someone by her side especially in a time like this.
"Ah, young love." A familiar British voice rang out. "Ow, bloody hell Caroline. I'm going to lose my head one day if you continue to smack it. It's bad enough you pull so hard when we're-"
The pack looked to one another and rolled their eyes hearing the man's voice. Ophelia's cheeks tinted pink in embarrassment at her brother's nonchalant words. As Theo's lips twitched upwards.
"Shut it." The blonde glared to her fiancรฉ. She smiled seeing the pack in front of her then to her soon to be sister in law. "Sorry." She apologized, pink tinted her pale cheeks. As Klaus wore a proud smirk.
Ophelia smiled at her family who entered the small clinic taking up half the space. Rebekah, Marcel, Freya, Keelin, Elijah, Hayley, Kol, Davina, Klaus, and Caroline. Followed by Bonnie Bennett and Malachai Parker.
"Nik, leave them be." Rebekah rolled her eyes at her brother who stuck out his tongue childishly to the blonde.
"Yeah, grumpy pants." Kai piped up receiving a glare from the Original. "What?"
"Glad you guys could make it." Scott piped up nodding to the Original family.
"Well, seeing as how you mentioned my sister in law was in trouble, alongside every supernatural being including my daughter. It was hard to not pass up the opportunity." Hayley sarcastically spoke up. Elijah wrapped his arm around his wife's waist.
"Ophelia is always in trouble." Kol shrugged from his spot, smiling sweetly to his sister. Rebekah and Davina nodded to one another and smacked the dark haired man's forearms. "Ow! This is why, O is my favourite sister." He grumbled rubbing his arms.
"Quiet all of you." Freya sighed, "Is everyone here?" She questioned the True Alpha.
"We're waiting on one more." Corey piped up looking to the intimating family of supernatural beings.
As if on cue the bell chimed above the clinic's door.
Corey stepped out from behind the wall seeing his boyfriend; Mason Hewitt.
"You told me you were leaving." He panted out, looking in awe to his boyfriend. Even though he was slightly angry at the Chimera for lying to him.
"I had to." Corey frowned.
"You lied." Mason shoved his boyfriend in disbelief and anger.
"Oh, relax. Save the high school drama for later." Klaus sighed out loud. Elijah nudged his brother, rolling his eyes at the hybrid's antics.
Mason widened his eyes, now noticed the bodies that huddled in the clinic's back room.
"We all did." Liam piped up.
"So, this was the plan all along?" Mason questioned, looking around the room.
"Sorry, Mase." Ophelia smiled apologetically.
"My dad had to believe we left Beacon Hills." Scott explained to the human. "Everyone has to believe it."
"What happens next? We fight back now, right?" Mason questioned.
"What did you think we were gonna do?" Scott questioned. "Run?"
