CHAPTER FIFTEEN โ”โ” redemption

OPHELIA, Scott, Lydia, Malia, Kai and Bonnie stood in front of the freezer. Ophelia gnawed on her lip watching Scott enter the isolation machine. She tapped her foot frustratingly, Kai and Bonnie stood beside her reading over the incantation for the spell they had to perform soon.

The three tuned the other three out, studying the spell. "This will work right?" Ophelia whispered nervously to her friends.

Kai nodded, "Yeah. I mean it's different from the Gemini Coven prison world. But it should." He said reassuringly, fiddling with the ascendant. Ophelia shakily breathed out a hum. Kai sighed and looked over to the Original. "Hey, we've been through a lot worse."

"Really? I don't recall corpses riding on horses coming after the people I loved before. Must have been when I was asleep in a coffin for five years." She sarcastically shrugged to her friend.

Bonnie sighed, "We have dealt with your parents, travelers, witches, vampires, wolves, even the Devil himself and far worse things. Think of this as a regular Monday." She tried to joke.

"If we don't do this correctly my family, Stiles, Brett and Lori they all stay there and the only one who stays is Lydia." She sighed out.

The four looked back seeing Scott in trance. "Looks like the Alpha became a freezie." Kai piped up.

She eyed the Alpha warily, looking back to the heretic she flicked his head. "Shut up." She walked up to the machine seeing him widened his eyes and look frantically around the room.

"Scott, focus on him. His voice, a memory anything." Lydia said firmly to the Alpha.

"What's happening to him?" Malia frustratingly asked.

"I don't know." Lydia mumbled.

"He doesn't look good. He looks... lost." She said looking to the Alpha, worry clouded her mind.

"I think he is. Maybe it's to much information." Bonnie voiced up looking up from the grimoire to the Alpha.

"So what do we do to help him?" Malia asked in panic.

"Scott? Scott! You have to focus!" Lydia slammed her fist on the glass.

BACK at the hospital Liam and Theo stumbled out of the police car. The Chimera hurriedly ran to the doors of the hospital, looking back he eyed the beta who stood still. "Liam, come on. We don't have much of a lead on them."

Liam nodded to himself and shoved his hand through the opened window turning on the ambulance's siren. "What the hell are you doing?" Theo shouted in disbelief to the beta, running up to the truck to turn off the sirens.

"Don't! Don't turn it off." Liam grabbed the Chimera pulling him back.

"You want to bring them all here? Every single one of them?" Theo shouted to the beta.

"That's exactly what I want to do. 'Cause if the Ghost Riders are here, that means they're not trying to get to Scott." Liam explained, Theo growled and lunged forwards again, only for Liam to shove him back. "Or Ophelia."

Theo clenched his jaw at the beta. "So, you don't care if you get caught?" He asked in disbelief.

"They're going to get to us all eventually." Liam remarked.

"You! You're going first. That's the only reason I'm with you. Because when they're busy wrapping a whip around your neck or shooting a hole in your head. I'll be running in the other direction. I'm on your side as long as it helps me." Theo angrily retorted to the beta.

"Trust me, I know." Liam gritted out, shoving the Chimera.

Theo pushed the doors opened and hurried inside. Coming to a halt he looked down the same corridor he had been in during his time in his own personal hell.

๐“๐ก๐ž๐จ

He shook his head, swallowing a lump in his throat. The Chimera stepped back, his heart beat unsteady. "Theo?" Liam's voice echoed through the Chimera's ears, only it sounded like he was below water and could barely hear the beta's voice. "Theo?" The Chimera looked down seeing flashes of his sister ripping out his heart. Ophelia. He murmured, taking his final breath. "Theo!" Liam shook the Chimera.

"I'm fine. just thought I was somewhere else for a second." He nodded to the beta.

"Where?" Liam asked in confusion.

"In a bad dream." His voice wavering near the end. The two looked over hearing the doors slam open, horses in the distance. "You said you know where to hide." Theo said to the beta.

"Follow me." Liam nodded taking off down the hall.

โ–‚โ–‚โ–‚โ–‚

"HE looks like he is in pain." Ophelia mumbled placing her hand on the glass. "Can't we just go into his mind? Or something?"

"I don't know this is my first time trying to open a dimensional rift in space-time." Lydia sarcastically remarked to her best friend. "So I'm kind of fumbling around in the dark."

"I'm getting him out." Malia raised her hand to the knob.

Lydia raised her hand to block her's, "Wait. I'm not the only one." The four looked to the banshee in confusion. "I think we have to treat this more like actual hypnosis. They use images to guide you through memories. Like, a stairwell. The steps take you down through one year of your life to the next." She further explained.

"So, he needs to imagine something. What do we tell him?" Malia asked.

"Scott, can you hear me? Scott, listen. Imagine this. Imagine you're in the high school. In the corridor where all the lockers are. Just try to imagine standing there." Lydia coaxed the Alpha. Who continued to wince and move around.

"1075." Ophelia mumbled. "Scott, they're inside the lockers. Look in the lockers."

โ–‚โ–‚โ–‚โ–‚

"THIS is your brilliant Idea? To barricade ourselves in the morgue?" Theo asked, chills swarmed his body. He was reliving his nightmares all in one night. He had hoped coming back from hell, he'd never have to relive them only in dream. But he was alive and currently living them. Only there was no Tara, and no Ophelia.

"The Ghost Riders go after the living. So we hide with the dead." Liam explained, walking over and unlocking the door revealing a dead body.

Theo's body went rigid looking in the enclosed space. "I'm not getting in one of those." He said nervously.

"Me neither." Liam shook his head eyeing the body in fear.

"You should've left me in the holding cell." Theo muttered, the two boys unaware of how quiet the hospital had become.

"I should have left you in the ground. But you and I both know you wouldn't prefer either of those because of Ophelia. Just so you know, she's seeing Brett." Liam said to the Chimera.

Theo swallowed thickly, ignoring the comment about the Original. "What do you even think I was doing down there anyways? Just hanging out with my dead sister? Having a good time catching up on childhood memories?"

"I think you were rotting down there." Liam remarked.

"Liam finally gets one thing right." Theo sarcastically said to the beta.

"I also think whatever happened to you, you deserved it." Liam added.

"Is that right?" Theo asked, knowing he was right.

"When the Ghost Riders find us, I'm not gonna do anything for you. I'm not gonna help you. I'm not gonna save you. I'm gonna do exactly what you would do to me." Liam hissed. "I'm gonna use you as bait."

Theo furrowed his brows, "Can you still hear the ambulance? The siren, can you still hear it?" Liam shook his head. "They're here."

โ–‚โ–‚โ–‚โ–‚

"I can't do this." Scott's panicked voiced echoed through the five's ears. "There's memories but how do I know which is the right one."

"Keep looking, check 1075!" Ophelia said to the Alpha.

The five looked into the machine seeing the glass freeze. "Uh, pretty sure that's not supposed to happen." Kai piped up narrowing his eyes at the ice slowly covering the door.

"It's getting to cold." Lydia panicked.

"What if he needs to make a connection to get the memory." Malia suggested.

"Like an emotional connection?" Bonnie asked.

"That could be why it worked for Stilinski, right?" Malia asked.

"Yeah but he wasn't just remembering someone, it was his son." Lydia remarked.

"Scott? Scott, can you hear me? I remember something. At the start of the year, Stiles was trying to find a place for you guys to live after your graduation." Malia's eyes breamed with tears. "He said you were getting an apartment together? And I remember saying something to Stiles. Something like it's not always a good idea to live with your friends. Even your best friend. But Stiles said it wouldn't matter because you weren't just best friends. You guys were like brothers."

Lydia eyed the machine and shook her head pressing the STOP bottom. The machine began to blare it's alarms. The two girls helped Lydia open the door. Scott stumbled out. "What's wrong? Why did you bring me out."

"Your heart rate dropped. You were gonna die." Lydia explained.

"But then, but then nothing happened, did it?" Scott asked. "It didn't work. I'm going back in. Something was happening. I could feel it."

"No you're not." Malia shook her head.

"But nothing was happening out here. Nothing, Scott. All we saw was you freezing to death." Ophelia explained to the Alpha.

"You're still too cold." Malia pulled him back.

"We can't give up now." Scott shook his head to the five who stood around him.

"We're not. It's my turn." Malia nodded, removing her shirt from her body. "If it's all about connection then Stiles was the first person I connected with in a long time." She explained.

"She'll need a visual." Scott nodded to the banshee. Ophelia walked over to the table and grabbed Scott's sweater and handed the warm material to the Alpha.

"Okay, I think I have an idea. But Malia if your heart rate goes down like Scott's-" Lydia began.

"We get her out." Ophelia finished.

Malia entered, Lydia latched the lock shut. Ophelia hesitantly turned the temperature down.

"Are you in the library? Can you see yourself there?" Lydia asked.

"I'm here. In the library." Malia said.

"Can you see the books?" Lydia asked the coyote.

"I see them." She mumbled.

"Concentrate on them. The books on the shelves are your memories." Lydia explained. "Find the shelf that has all the memories with Stiles. Find the one that you made some sort of connection with him."

Ophelia gnawed on her bottom lip nervously. She glanced up seeing Malia place her hand on the glass. "Stiles where are you going?" She whispered.

"Malia open your eyes!" Ophelia and Lydia shouted in unison.

Ophelia and Scott looked up, "Something's happening."

"We can't leave her there." Ophelia growled and unlocked the door, as Scott placed her sweater over her shaking body.

โ–‚โ–‚โ–‚โ–‚

LIAM and Theo nodded to one another both grasping the surgery table. The two ran forwards seeing the rider, shoving the table into him crushing him into the other wall. The two looked down the halt seeing more, "Hide with the dead?" Theo asked.

"It was worth a try." Liam ran, Theo following closely behind him.

โ–‚โ–‚โ–‚โ–‚

LYDIA turned the machine off, "What are you doing?" Ophelia asked the banshee.

"It's too dangerous. We're not going to save anyone by freezing you all to death." Lydia remarked.

"I can go." Ophelia nodded to the group confidently.

"Easy Elsa, you could just stay frozen in place. It's not going to work." Kai remarked shaking his head.

"He's right. There was only a light and a strange noise. No Stiles." Lydia said to the Original then to the coyote.

"But I remember him now. I can see him in my head." Scott explained.

"Yeah, so can I. But it's not enough." Ophelia muttered, running her hand through her thick hair.

"Me too." Malia nodded to her best friends.

"If we can bring Stiles back then we can bring everyone back right?" Scott looked to the three who stood to the side.

"Well, yeah. I mean it'll take a lot of power considering they took Beacon Hills, and other towns." Bonnie nodded to the Alpha.

"My sister Freya is there, and so is Hope and Davina." Ophelia nodded, "We'd have six witches, in total. But again we only have one shot. It's there and back. If we fail we don't have a spare of Garrett's blood."

"We only need one shot." Scott nodded. "Lydia you need to find a connection with him. When I was remembering him, I was also remembering the two of you together. I don't think anyone had a connection like you guys."

"I saw it to. You have to try Lydia." Malia nodded to the strawberry blonde.

"We're going to actually have to hypnotize me." She nodded to the five.

โ–‚โ–‚โ–‚โ–‚

THEO and Liam fought against two riders. Theo shoved the rider into a supply closet, as Liam kicked one across the room. Grabbing a crutch nearby, Liam ran over and blocked the door off.

The two chuckled in disbelief, the two looked up hearing footsteps and chains rattling. "They're everywhere." Theo breathed out.

"Good." Liam nodded.

"Really? You really need to remind me to remind you that getting captured by the Ghost Riders isn't gonna help save your friends?" Theo squinted his eyes to the beta. Liam parted his lips looking behind the Chimera. Theo turned on his heels and eyed the shadows of the riders down the hall.

"We're both getting caught." Liam whispered. "I don't understand what she see's in you." Liam mumbled, Theo furrowed his brows. "She's better then you. She'd die for the one's she loves. She'd sacrifice herself and be the bait, for her family and friends. And all you do is run away." Liam hissed. Theo clenched his jaw at the wolf's words; he knew he was right. "You can do whatever when you're running. I'm going down fighting." Nodding his head to the Chimera.

The two eyed the riders who walked towards them. Liam stepped past the Chimera flicking out his claws, he let out a roar. Theo clenched his jaw watching the beta, he gnawed on his lip thinking of a red head. They needed to distract them, until they could get to the other side and save everyone. Theo growled, his eyes glowed his fangs pierced the air.

โ–‚โ–‚โ–‚โ–‚

"MY mom had me see the same hypnotist she had seen, when I was ten. That helped her quit smoking." Lydia said out loud, writing down her notes. Bonnie to her right.

"You smoked when you were ten?" Scott asked in confusion.

"No. I bit my fingernails." Lydia shook her head to the Alpha.

Kai rolled his eyes at the two and placed the candle down in front of the banshee. "Incendia." He muttered.

"What's that?" Ophelia questioned eyeing the paper Lydia and Bonnie had been writing on.

"An induction script. Bonnie is going to talk me through this." Lydia explained to her best friend.

Lydia nodded to the witch, and fluttered her eyes shut. Bonnie cleared her throat, "Take a deep breath and look at the candle. Feel the muscles in your body begin to relax. Your hands relaxing. Your eyelids relaxing." She said clearly and softly. Lydia did as she was told, falling into a trance.

Malia parted her lips looking at the candle, her eyelids beginning to feel heavy. "As you relax, imagine you're sitting in front of a TV." Bonnie said. A thump was heard in the room. The four looked back seeing Malia passed out on the floor.

The four looked to Lydia who stayed in trance. Ophelia sighed and helped the coyote up to her feet. "I'm good." She whispered nodding.

"When you turn the TV on, it's going to play memories from your life. The remote gives you total control. You can play any memory you want. All you have to do, is hit the button." Bonnie said calmly. "Try to find the memory of Stiles." The four glanced down seeing her hands moving. "A memory where you felt a connection with him." Bonnie read.

"Fields medal." Lydia mumbled. "Nobel doesn't have a prize for mathematics. Fields medal."

"Find another memory. Keep looking for Stiles. Find another memory." Bonnie looked to the banshee.

โ–‚โ–‚โ–‚โ–‚

BACK at the hospital a Ghost Rider whipped Theo, who fell back and crawled away. The Chimera reached over and grabbed a knife, standing to his feet he sliced the rider in his neck. Falling to a heap, black blood oozed from it's neck.

A hand grasped the Chimera's shoulder whipping him around. Theo struggled against it's hold and shoved it away. Only for Liam to shoot the rider and then the rider who attacked him.

Theo parted his lips in disbelief. Liam walked over, the two boys smiled to one another in disbelief. The two raised their hands to one another, stopping in mid air, seeing more riders down the hall from them.

Theo glanced back seeing the elevator. He looked to Liam then down the hall. He ran to the elevator and pushed the access button to go up. Hearing the elevator ding, Theo rushed forwards and grabbed Liam throwing him into the elevator.

"What are you doing?" Liam asked looking up with wide eyes.

"Being the bait." Theo smirked, as the door closed shut.

"No!" Liam shouted rushing forwards he hit the door repeatedly. Hearing growls than a gun shot.

โ–‚โ–‚โ–‚โ–‚

"THAT'S when it happened." Lydia said softly.

"When what happened?" Bonnie asked the banshee. Receiving silence. "Lydia, what do you mean? When what happened?"

"When I kissed him." Tears breamed her green eyes. "That's when it all changed. I never said it back." She whimpered.

Rattling shook the room, and the table. "It worked." Ophelia whispered.

Lydia stood up and walked towards the door unlocking the door, the five walked into the tunnel.

A body walked forwards towards the five, "Stiles?"
