"PLEASE TELL ME THIS IS A JOKE." Caitlin said breaking the awkward silence the group was sharing. Team flash stood right across from Leonard and Lisa. Evelyn, being the medium she was, stood nowhere near any of them. She watched from a distance as they all eyed one another.
"Oh, you were right, Lenny." Lisa begun as she looked from Caitlin to Leonard. "She is very uptight."
"I'm not uptight." Caitlin defended herself strongly. She looked at Barry who gave her a look. "You can't call me uptight." Caitlin rephrased her words.
"Look, guys, we need their help if we're gonna pull this off." Barry still dressed in his superhero suit reminded the gang of their beneficial partnership.
"Why are you wearing your mask? Snart already knows who you are." Caitlin asked Barry.
"And I promised I wouldn't tell anyone, that includes my sister." Leonard assured them much to everyone's surprise.
"Jerk." Lisa told him with narrowed eyes.
"Trainwreck." He retorted with a smirk.
"Don't look so surprised detective. I am a man of my word." Leonard told Joe smugly when he caught him throwing daggers at him with his eyes.
"Yeah, you better be or I'm gonna make sure you're on that damn plane, too." Joe told him before walking away, but his comment got a laugh out of Evelyn. The rest of the group disbanded soon after and went off to do their own thing.
Evelyn glanced down at a tablet that displayed the digital blueprint of the particle accelerator. She felt Leonard come to stand behind her. Just like she felt his stare on the side of her face. Her cheeks tinted a bit at the thought, and she was glad that her hair hid them from his view. She heard him chuckle under his breath. He was amused that she was trying not to pay him any attention. He squeezed her hip before he walked off to where Barry had left to.

"This is cool. Where'd you get it?" Joe asked Cisco as he examined the huge truck parked in the garage underneath S. T. A. R. Labs.
"My uncle owns it. His company hauls frozen food cross country." Cisco told him as they reached the others that where behind the truck. Joe now stood beside Barry. Lisa stood next to Caitlin, and Evelyn sat down on the edge of the truck that Leonard had been studying.
"Okay, so I retrofitted the cooling system with the wheelchair's power source to create an energy damper." Cisco started to explain the mechanics of the metas transportation vehicle. Upon hearing him, Leonard walked over to the edge of the truck and knelt down beside where Evelyn sat. Evelyn was too busy listening intensely to what Cisco was saying to notice his presence.
"Which means what exactly?" Asked Joe.
"Basically, the back of this rig is being flooded with so much power that it's effectively creating a transient pulse strong enough to disrupt the meta-humans' powers." Evelyn explained on Cisco's behalf. Cisco snapped his fingers then pointed at Evelyn proudly. He was glad that at least someone understood. Leonard, on the other hand, looked down at the floor briefly as he laughed quietly to himself which earned a glance from Evelyn. He had no idea what she was talking about, but he liked listening to her show off her degree and knowledge. It was cute but surprisingly hot at the same time.
"Exactly!" Said Cisco. "So we can get them to the airport, and get them on the plane without them getting fresh on us."
"But technically, we need somebody with a Class A commercial driver's license to drive this though." Cisco informed Joe of the slight problem.
"I can drive it." Lisa said nonchalantly with a shrug as she studied the truck. Everyone except Leonard and Evelyn looked at Lisa with a shocked expression. "What? I have a Class A CDL."
"You do?" Exclaimed Caitlin surprised.
"We can't all be doctors." Said Lisa teasingly, and Caitlin made a face. Evelyn laughed, and Leonard smirked.
"All right, well, let's do this. Plane's gonna be here in two hours." Barry said and everyone got in position.

"Ferris Air? I thought this place got shut down." Said Snart as he hopped off his motorcycle.
"It did." Barry answered. "One of their test pilots disappeared."
"So what's the plan? I want to get this over with." Said Joe as he walked over to where Barry and Snart stood. Evelyn and Caitlin followed after the detective side by side.
"It should be here any minute." Evelyn told them as she stood beside Leonard.
"Look Joe, I know you don't agree with this-" Barry attempted to fix the awkward tension between him and Joe, but it clearly failed.
"Save it, Barr. I just want to get it done." Replied Joe. He was uninterested in conversation at the moment. Barry looked away, and Evelyn sent him a sympathetic smile.
Evelyn glanced at Leonard who stood beside her with his arms crossed lost in thought. She was beginning to wonder what's spinning around in his head. He had been acting strange since he arrived at S. T. A. R. Labs. Others may have not noticed but Evelyn knew him well. He seemed distracted in a way. She couldn't seem to put a finger on what it was exactly, but she knew for sure that something was troubling him.
"Hey." She whispered to him, and he lazily looked over at her. "Are you alright?" She asked, and he could see the concern in her eyes.
"Peachy." He said with a shrug. Of course, he couldn't really tell her the truth. He couldn't just simply come out and say that he purposely screwed up their plan before it even started. Evelyn, being the smart woman that she was, knew he was lying but she decided to let it go. She knew that the more she pushed him the more he pulled back. And she just got him to let her in, so there was no way she was gonna jeopardize that.
"Okay..." she mumbled.
Leonard sighed in annoyance then turned slightly to Barry. "Your A.R.G.U.S. friends aren't very prompt." Snart told Barry after getting fed up with waiting for the plane. "Maybe that's why they've never been able to catch me." Barry gave him a fake smile as he let out a breathy laugh. Evelyn stifled a laugh of her own at the look on Barry's face who was already sick of Snart's presence.
Barry was about to fire back at Snart with a sarcastic remark when Caitlin cut him off. "Look, there it is." She pointed out the plane that was slowly getting closer with every passing second.
"Guys, we have a problem." Cisco said in complete panic as he paced over to them with Lisa nowhere to be found. "The damper's fluctuating. The rig's losing powers. I don't know why."
"Wait, can you do something?" Asked Barry.
"I'm trying." Cisco said while he hurriedly tried to find a solution.
Evelyn turned to Leonard who stood away from the others. "What did you do?" Evelyn asked him, and Leonard looked at her unfazed. He didn't even flinch at her accusation. He knew that when things begun to take a turn for the worse that she'd figure it outβand she had. She was able to piece together the sudden and odd problem with the truck with Leonard's weird behavior to find that he was the culprit.
Leonard didn't answer. He saw the disappointment in her eyes, but he managed to hold his usual 'I don't care about anything' attitude. "Why?" She asked him. She was genuinely curious as to why he felt the need to be the bad guy when he didn't have to be. Why does he always see himself as something so low? It was now that she realized that Leonard couldn't ever change until he started to see himself differently. No matter what she does, the choice will always be Leonard's to make.
"Oh, god." Caitlin said as a storm randomly appeared in the night sky. This was clearly the work of the meta in the back of the ill fated truck.
"Mardon." Said Joe then a lightening bolt struck the plane. Evelyn's eyes widened when the plane fell from the sky exploding the minute it touched ground.
The back door of the truck started to cave in, and Joe whipped out his gun. It was locked and aimed. The door practically flew off it's hinges revealing all the angry metas who are out for revenge. "Trips cancelled!" Yelled Mardon. Evelyn felt Leonard grabbed a hold of her hand as he stepped in front of her, shielding her from their view in a protective manner.
"Take your last breath!" One of the metas she didn't recognize shouted before he literally turned into green smoke. Everyone soon dispersed. Leonard took off in the direction opposite of The Flash while he pulled Evelyn along with him.
Caitlin and Cisco took cover behind Joe's van as Joe had started shooting at Mardon and the other remaining metas. Barry was occupied with the other one. "I'm out of here." Said Peekaboo as she vanished from the back of the truck where they were taking cover from the bullets. Mardon picked up the storm smirking in satisfaction when he was able to strike Barry with a bolt of lightning.
"Finish him, Simmons." Said Mardon. Evelyn from her place on the floor looked at Barry in fear. She was scared for his life. She couldn't sit here and watch him die, but she was useless against the metas. She felt helpless. The man, Simmons, eyes glowed red then released the lazers only to have his face frostbitten. Evelyn gasped softly as the man dropped dead to the floor.
"How about we call tonight a tie?" Leonard told them still having his gun aimed with his finger on the trigger for safety measures.
The man beside Mardon eyes lit up before Lisa placed her gun on his temple. "I'd power down if you don't want me to melt your face."
"Let's all go our separate ways." Leonard said to them as he lowered his gun and walked closer. "I'm Leonard Snart."
"I know who you are." Mardon replied with a smirk.
Leonard was quick with his response not skipping a beat. "Always pleased to meet a fan."
"Just remember who it was that made sure you didn't get thrown on that plane bound for nowhere." Leonard had made sure to remind them that from this moment on they owed him.
"You're just letting us go?" Mardon asked him suspiciously. "Why'd you shoot that guy?"
Leonard looked down at the man he killed then looked back up at the two metas. He shrugged. "He owed me money." Mardon and Lisa both smirked in amusement.
"What? You want a 'thank you'?" Asked Mardon when he noticed that Leonard still stood in front of him.
"Who doesn't like a 'thank you'." Said Leonard.
"Thank you..." Replied the other meta awkwardly as if those words were foreign on his tongue. Mardon rolled his eyes.
Evelyn didn't wait around to listen to anything else. She pushed herself up with her hands and ran over to Barry who lied on his back in pain. "Barry. Barry, it's okay." She told him in a hushed voice as she knelt down beside him. She flinched at the sound of him wincing along with his struggle to catch his breath.
Barry opened his eyes to meet with Leonard's. Snart stood up tall next to Evelyn. "You sabotaged the truck, didn't you? Why did you let them escape?" Barry asked him in between his heavy breaths.
Leonard knelt down beside Evelyn. He took of his protective eyewear letting them hang from his neck with a huge grin plastered over his face. "Because now they all owe me...and something tells me they'll be a lot more use to me as part of my rogues than rotting away in the north China sea."
"You gave me your word." Barry breathed, and Leonard chuckled.
"It's true, I did." Leonard had begun with a smile, but the smile soon dropped and Leonard turned apathetic. "But here's the thing. I'm a criminal and a liar, and I hurt people, and I rob them. What did you expect me to do? Not to be what I am? I saw an opportunity to turn things to my advantage, and I did. Who you're really mad at is yourself." Leonard paused momentarily. Although Leonard aimed his little speech at Barry, Evelyn knew he was indirectly speaking to her too. She shook her head at the thought of everything that had just happened.
"This is on you, Barry." Leonard said.
"Then why don't you just kill me?" Barry asked him.
Leonard looked at Evelyn from the corner of his eyes. She looked down at Barry refusing to look at him. She was too disappointed and angry with him right now. Leonard stood to his feet. "Well, I guess you owe me one now too."
"Good luck with....all of this." Leonard said sarcastically as he headed toward his motorcycle. "I'm actually really excited to see how it all turned out." Snart added as he hopped on the bike. Cisco came bolted toward Barry and Evelyn as Lisa joined her brother.
"Bye Cisco." Lisa said seductively

Evelyn wandered into Saints and Sinners full of determination. Her blood boiled at the memory of what occurred an hour ago. After she made sure Barry was good, she left straight for here not bothering to head back to S.T.A.R. Labs with everyone else. She needed to talk to him.
He sat in their usual booth in the back of the room. He sunk back in thought nothing on the table but a half empty beer bottle. She stopped in front of the table the moment she reached him. He blinked a few times then slowly looked up at her. "Don't bother. I said all I have to say." Leonard told her dryly.
"I just don't get it." She said with an empty laugh. "Why is it so hard for you to do a decent thing? I mean, truly do something nice without expecting to get something in return." Leonard opened his mouth but quickly shut it. Evelyn took this as an opportunity to continue.
"You know I learned something today." She told him, and Leonard raised an eyebrow curiously. "You're never gonna change." She exhaled deeply as she fought to keep herself from crying. Leonard's jaw locked and unlocked as he leaned forward in his seat.
"And it's not because you're incapable of changing, or because you're not worth it. It's because you have to want it, and you have to believe that you can be someone other than this." She gestured lazily at his figure. "But you'll never change, because you can't ever see yourself the way I see you. You will always see yourself as the bad guy."
"And that's because you think that's all you'll ever be. But I don't blame you, I blame your father." Leonard sucked in a breath at the mention of Lewis. His eyes had softened. "He left you damaged, so damaged that I'm afraid you'll never be able to heal. Barry was wrong..." Leonard's face twisted in confusion. He didn't understand what Barry had to do with this.
"I can't change you. I can't heal you. Only you can heal yourself. All I can do is help support and guide you, but I can't do that if you don't let me." She told him as her eyes glistened with unshed tears.
Leonard sighed. His eyes slowly shut before they fluttered open. He looked to Evelyn, and his soft eyes had hardened. She exhaled a deep breath, because she knew where this was all headed. This was the part where he closed himself up again. This was the part of the story where he doesn't allow himself to love nor let anyone love him. This was the part where Lewis won, because this was the part where he ruined everything good in Leonard's life.
"This isn't working out." Leonard told her coldly. Evelyn felt the warm tears falling down the sides of her face, but she didn't care enough to wipe them away before he could notice. "I need you to stay the hell away from me."
Leonard slowly rose to his feet. They stood a few inches away from one another. They were so close that they could feel one another's body heat from their current proximity. "I will never be a hero. It's not in my nature. Besides, I'm having too much fun being the villain. I'll always be the bad guy. Stop trying to fix me." His voice raised slightly and Evelyn flinched.
"You know, I made a lot of terrible decisions in my life. But the only mistake I made was taking you in all those years ago. Along with letting you back into my life these past couple of months. But I won't be making that mistake again, trust me." He snarled.
Evelyn smiled through the pain. "I don't believe a word of that." She said with a small shrug. "But I'll leave you be."
She took a small step forward. Her smile faded. "I just hope that years from now you will allow yourself to be happy. I just want you to be happy. And I hope you can finally find it in yourself to be more than a criminal...to be someone better than your father's son." Leonard was tongue-tied. He couldn't find the words to reply not even a sarcastic remark. For once in his life, he was speechless.
"Goodbye, Leo." Evelyn breathed then she forced herself to walk out of the bar without looking back at him. She felt his eyes on her never faltering as he allowed her to walk out of his life.
