"EVELYN..." a disembodied voice spoke softly through the pitch black darkness. Their voice sounded so out of tune to the brunette. It sounded as if someone raised the volume on a radio then turned it down on a continuous loop. Her mind was wide awake trying to find a way to regain control of her body. Her brain screamed at her to open her eyes.
Evelyn slowly and forcefully pried her eyes open. She was met with Leonard's icy blue ones. He knelt down in front of her. His left hand rested over her hand on the arm of the chair while his right rested on her thigh. He let out a sigh of relief. He was scared that she was in a state of coma from all those injections.
"Leo?" She questioned him hoarsely. Her voice broke as she fought back her tears. She wanted nothing more than to break down right here and now, but she refused to give Lewis the satisfaction of breaking her.
"I'm sorry." She cried to him in a whisper when Leonard used his body to shield her from Lewis. She shook her head as her head hung low. Leonard hushed her softly. He used both of his hands to caress her cheeks.
"Stop." He told her strongly, and she tried her best to stop herself from crying anymore. "This isn't your fault. Do you hear me?" Leonard told her in an undertone as he wiped her tears away with his thumbs.
"Alright, lets get you out of here." He told her, and she nodded her head vigorously. She watched silently as his hands worked on uniting the ropes that strapped her to the chair.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you. We haven't discussed the terms of our deal yet." Lewis told him, but Leonard ignored him. He threw the ropes to the side, and gently pulled Evelyn to her feet by her forearms.
But still weak from all the injections, Evelyn felt lightheaded then without warning fell to the floor. Leonard quickly caught the back of her head to prevent her from smacking her head against the hard tile while he swiftly wrapped one of his arms around her back. Leonard slowly shifted up from his knees and sat her back down in the chair.
"What the hell did you do to her?!" Leonard yelled. He was beyond furious with his father's actions. Lewis could hurt him mentally, emotionally, and physically, but he'd be damned if Lewis hurt Lisa and Evelyn. Lewis had crossed the line.
"It's not that big of deal." Lewis scoffed crossing his arms over his chest. "You're overreacting son. Just ask Evelyn."
Leonard looked back at her. She could barely stand and keep her eyes open on her own. Evelyn attempted to speak, but she couldn't get her body to function normally. Her mind had all the words she needed and wanted to say, but she couldn't seem to get her voice to be heard. She swallowed due to her dry mouth. All she was able to do was slowly and with trouble, lace her fingers around his. It was her way of telling him that she's conscious.
"I'll ask again..." Leonard drawled coldly. He looked away from her and faced his father. "What did you do to her?"
"I don't know why you're acting so surprised? You should have known I would have to keep her here without her struggling some how." Lewis responded with a nonchalant shrug. It blew Leonard's mind how composed he was with the fact that he had kidnapped and continuously injected a woman with substances that shouldn't be in her body.
"That wasn't a part of our agreement. You said that you would keep her here unharmed then let her go as long as I hear you out." Leonard snarled at the man he refused to call father. He glanced back Evelyn. She looked so broken. His heart hurt at the sight of her all drugged up.
"Well, sometimes life doesn't go as we planned. Sometimes, we can't always get what we want." Lewis told Leonard, and Leonard glared at him. "But since you came, I'm going to keep what was left of my word and allow her to be let go."
Leonard shook his head disappointedly then went back to attending to Evelyn. "Come on." He told her softly as he helped her back to her feet. He held her up by one of her arms momentarily before going to stand beside her. He took that same arm put it around his shoulders. He took quick but cautious steps, but he'd stop to make sure she was good before continuing forward again.
Three built men appeared out of the blue blocking the exit with their muscular frames. Leonard sighed with an amused smile lingering on his face. "You've got to be kidding me." He drawled then turned to Lewis. "Is there a problem?"
"I said she could go, I never said you could." Lewis began, and Leonard wanted beat some common sense into him so badly. It didn't make any sense to Leonard whatsoever. How did he expect Evelyn to get out on her own if she couldn't even walk? Leonard was now sure that he had to have gotten his intelligence from his mother.
"Well, that's too bad." Leonard told his father with a smirk. "Move." He then demanded the men.
"That wasn't what we agreed to Lenny. I said I'd let her go, and you'd have to stay and hear me out." Lewis told him strongly. He was tried to keep his temper in check. It was always a problem of his.
Leonard smirked. "Well, sometimes life doesn't go as we planned. Sometimes, we can't always get what we want." He echoed his father's previous statement mockingly and Lewis growled.
"Do you really have to be so difficult son? I swear, you and Evelyn were made for each other." Lewis remarked. He was annoyed with his son uncooperative nature.
"Fine." Leonard huffed. "Start talking, I'll listen. But let's make this quick since I have a drugged girl who really needs some rest clinging to my side." Leonard glared at the men discretely. The men eventually stepped away from the warehouse doors when they realized he wasn't attempting to flee.
"I like to think that you and I would make a great team Leonard-"
"I already have a partner so I'm not really on the market for a new one. He also doesn't like sharing. He's a bit of hothead." Leonard replied sarcastically, and Lewis huffed at his interruption.
Lewis carried on anyway as if he weren't interrupted. "I've had my mind set on swiping some valuable items. Items that aren't known to the world. Items related to those Meta freaks. I happened to know someone who's been on the market for tech that restricts meta capabilities, and she's willing to pay good. Very good."
Evelyn caught a glimpse of red in the far back of the warehouse, but in her foggy state she couldn't decipher if it was real or apart of her imagination. "Here's my proposal. You help me case three dangerous jobs, and I won't bother you ever again. You will not have to hear from me from then on out. It'll be like I'm dead. I'll even split the profit evenly. You have my word. I'd like to think that this arrangement is fair. Don't you agree?" Lewis continued.
Leonard pondered on it for a short while. He exhaled a breath. "Nah, I'm not interested. Bye now." He said with a smile then went for the exit only for the men to quickly jump in front of it. His goons guarded it like it was a valuable possession.
"We had a deal Lenny."
"Yes, we did." Leonard breathed trying to calm himself down. "A deal where I agreed to listen to your terms. I never said I would agree to them. Now, I heard you, and I don't want any part in this suicide mission of yours."
"With your help, it would be impossible to come out empty handed." Lewis added. He fought hard to get on his son's good side, but there was still some truth to his words.
"I'm flattered you think so highly of my skills as a thief, but I tend to not get involved in heists that are doomed from the start. Once you step one foot onto a facility that is guarding meta human technology, The Flash will be there before you can even get your scummy little hands on anything." Leonard reminded him of the city's savior but their nuisance.
Lewis's face had hardened. "You're making a mistake, Lenny. I won't stop until you help me."
"I know." Leonard told his father quietly. "Goodbye, dad."
"Now, move or I'll move you." Leonard threatened the men.
"I'm sorry, but I can't let you leave." Lewis spit coldly. Leonard searched the warehouse as men and women of his father's gang appeared from every corner, surrounding them. "You should have never came alone. I thought I taught you better than that." He looked at Leonard in disgust. To him Leonard turned out to be such a disappointment along with his sister.
Leonard smiled at his father, leaving Lewis puzzled as to what was so amusing. "You did...that's why I didn't come alone."
"I think it's about time we light this party up!" Mick yelled as he came out from behind one of Lewis's men. He pulled the trigger of his heat-gun and burned the man alive.
Lewis swiftly pulled out a gun from the waistband of his pants. He aimed the gun at Evelyn, but just as he was about to pull the trigger a vine appeared out of nowhere yanking the gun out of his hand an onto the floor. The gun fired when it hit the ground instantly shooting Lewis in the leg. He howled out in pain as he fell to his knees.
Evelyn turned hear head toward the source of the vine. Her mouth parted in a mix of shock and awe when she saw the fierce redheaded bartender come out from the shadows. Her long red hair fell into waves past her shoulders and rested against the black almost spy like bodysuit. Her right hand held on tightly to a bright green vine that it took a short while for Evelyn to notice she had summoned it out of the palm of her hand.
"Meta freaks?" Cora said with a fake pout. "Where are your manners?"
Lewis growled, and used his free hand that wasn't gripping his wound to reach for his gun. Not getting passed Cora, she opened her other palm to tap into her abilities even further. The ground shook momentarily before vines came out from the ground. "Yeah! Now we're talking!" Mick said excitedly.
"Get her out of here Lenny!" Lisa said as she came out of nowhere. She shot her special gun Cisco made for her at one of the men who tried to sneak up behind the couple. "We got it from here!"
"Let's go now!" Leonard shouted to Evelyn over all the chaos that had occurred a few seconds ago. The room erupted with gun shots and yells. Mick continued to burn those who came for him, Cora, Lisa, Evelyn and Leonard. While Cora choked as many as she could with her vines.
Evelyn nodded as her response and helped Leonard drag her towards the door that was now unguarded. But growing a bit frustrated with their pace, Leonard decided to lift her off the ground. He carried her bridal-style out the warehouse and toward the car.
"You're gonna regret making me an enemy Leonard!" Lewis shouted right before the doors to the warehouse shut.

The car ride back was long and agonizingly quiet. He wanted her to say something. Anything, even if it was her yelling at him or scolding him. He just couldn't bare the silence.
Evelyn watched Leonard discretely from the corner of her eyes. His right hand gripped the stirring wheel so tightly that his knuckles were a pale white. His left hand rested on his temple as he used the same arm to lean against the car door with his elbow. His hypnotizing blue eyes stared intensely at the road in front of them.
"So, are you just going to keep staring at me, or are you gonna say anything?" Leonard asked her suddenly. Evelyn sat up straight at the sound of his voice. She didn't know he was aware of her staring. Her cheeks flushed at the fact that she was just caught in the act. Leonard smirked when he noticed her blushing.
"Leo-" her voice came off a bit rough.
"I'm sorry." Leonard said sincerely cutting her off. Evelyn raised her brows at him. She didn't know what he was sorry for. He hadn't done anything.
"For everything I said at the bar. I didn't mean any of it. In fact, I feel the exact opposite. I was just... I was scared. I was scared for this exact moment." Evelyn saw how Leonard's blue eyes had hardened. He wasn't upset with her but with the situation. "I knew if I allowed myself to feel anything for youβthat if I allowed you to get too close to meβI knew you'd be used to hurt me. I ruin everything I touch, and I didn't want to ruin you."
He stopped the car at the upcoming stop sign. "So, I'm sorry for everything that has happened to you. I can't get that image of you out of my head-"
"I love you." Evelyn confessed and all of his words were long forgotten. She heard Leonard suck in a deep breath. He slowly turned his head to look at her meeting her intense glance. Evelyn leaned over the console and attached her lips to his. It wasn't heated or rough, but instead was slow and passionate. Everything they both wanted to say and confess to one anotherβevery feeling they had bottled up from their past and these past few months aloneβhad all led up to this moment.
Evelyn pulled away slowly. Leonard's sight lingered on her lips briefly before trailing up to her eyes. "I love you too." Leonard breathed, and Evelyn smiled brightly. She felt her eyes sting at the corners but she didn't care. He exhaled a shaky breath. "I love you so much that it hurts me."
Evelyn grabbed his hand that was resting on his lap. They had been sitting at this stop sign now longer than what was necessary. She guesses it was a good thing that the street was empty. She smiled to herself. She stared at their hands before she peered back up at him. She could definitely get used to this.
"So where do we go from here?" Leonard asked her. All of this was foreign to him. He never loved someone and had them love him back before. After remembering all the times he had given Sam a hard time, he now understood what Scudder felt with Rosa. It annoyed him a bit only because he hated Sam. He didn't want to relate to him on any grounds.
"We'll figure it out." Evelyn whispered.

"You know, you're something else." Leonard told Evelyn while rolling his eyes. He had stopped the car at the drop off section per her request. He left the engine running as he jogged to her side of the car.
"Why, Because I care about my education?" She joked as she got out of the car after he held the door open for her. After they had started driving again, Evelyn had received a text message from her teacher reminding her that her exam was today. She was so thankful that Leonard had stopped at her place before meeting Lewis and picked up her phone. Leonard found it amusing that she still wanted to take the test.
"After everything you just went through, I didn't think you'd be up for an exam. But leave it to Evelyn..." Leonard teased her.
"I spent hours and money into moving up in my career, and I'll be damned if I let Lewis get in the way of that." Evelyn retorted.
Leonard closed the door with one hand and used the other to grab her hand. "Besides, after today, I really need this. I just want to get back to normal." Evelyn whispered.
Leonard nodded understandably. "Fine. But call me when you get home so I can head over." Evelyn opened her mouth to protest when Leonard continued shutting her up. "No, you don't want to stay at my place, fine, but I'm not letting you stay home by yourself tonight. I'll feel more comfortable knowing that your safe with me. Also, tonight you're going to the hospital to make sure you're really okay."
"Fine." Evelyn caved with a smile. She stood up on her tippy toes and planted a quick kiss on his lips.
Leonard smirked at the efforts she had to go to just to do that. "Okay, now go take your test or whatever."
"I'll see you tonight." She said assuringly.
"Yeah, see you tonight." Leonard agreed then waited for her to head up the front steps of the university. "I love you." He told her with a playful smirk as he walked over to the driver side. He heard Evelyn laugh loudly.
"I love you too."
Leonard stopped and looked over his shoulder to get a last glimpse of Evelyn before he got back into his car.

Leonard sat comfortably on an office chair inside one of his many hideouts. He sunk back into the chair with his feet perched on top of an empty work table that Mick usually used to lay out his tools when he tinkered with things.
"I don't understand why you took her home. You should've just brought her here for a couple of days until things blew over. She would be much safer." Lisa scolded her brother from where she sat on the table beside his foot.
Leonard rolled his eyes. "Well, for starters I agree, but she wanted it this way." Lisa scoffed and rolled her eyes at Leonard's excuse. He shouldn't have gave her a choice on the matter. Yes, Lisa is a huge fan of free will, but this was bigger than that.
"She wanted her life to return back to normal before daddy dearest got his disgusting hands on her. After everything she went through, I think I owe it to her to respect her wishes." Leonard explained to his sister as he concentrated on cleaning his cold gun.
"Yeah, that, and Leonard's whipped." Mick teased in his usual gruffly tone. He sat on the couch watching the news with a beer bottle in his hand.
"And I didn't take her home. I took her to school so she could take an exam." He added ignoring Mick's jab. "As soon as she gets home she'll let me know, and I'll head over. So, relax."
Eyes glued to the screen, Mick went to take a sip of his drink frowning when nothing came out. He pulled the bottle up to his eyes and peered inside to find it empty. "I'm gonna go get another beer." He groaned as he left the Snart siblings to themselves.
Mick returned shortly with a brand new beer and envelope. "This came for you. Someone left it outside." He told Snart as he tossed the envelope onto Leonard's lap. Leonard sucked his teeth in annoyance. He gently handed the cold gun to Lisa then everted his attention to the envelope with his name on it. Leonard opened it and read its content. He grew more and more confused as to what it meant the more he read it.
Dear Leonard,
I'm so sorry it had to turn out this way. It was never my intention to hurt you, but maybe this will teach you another lesson. Next time, you should really take my offer.
Ps: keep these as a reminder of this day.
- Lewis.
He looked down at the familiar tiny devices that were in the palm of his hand. "Lenny..." Lisa called out to him with a shaky voice bringing him out of his thoughts. He turned himself around in his chair at the sound of her voice. She stared at the television teary eyed.
Leonard couldn't get himself to turn away from the screen. He felt like his stomach had twisted into a knot and dropped. His knees felt weak, and it was like his heart had been torn out of his chest and ripped into a million pieces. He suddenly rose from his chair and stormed out of the room despite Mick and Lisa's calls for him. He needed to get away. He didn't know where, but he needed to leave that room because it suddenly felt so tight in space.
The last thing he heard before disappearing into the night was the Central City news anchor talking about how Evelyn's apartment building was up in flames.
