Waking up in an strangers bed was not on Zara's todo list for the first day of her job.
But he was hot.
And he might be a serial killer.
At least then she'd die after having the best night of her entire life.
As a safety insurance she gave lucy her location, so if she'd never show up to the station that day then she would at least have a first arrest.
Zara lied in the soft cushion of the bed, the stranger called timo was right behind her. His arm was wrapped around her and she felt his hot breath in her neck.
She reached out for her phone which was on the night stand right next to the bed, she checked the time and she knew she would have to get her ass out of this bed if she didn't want to arrive late on her first day as a rookie.
Well, getting away from here without that man waking up would be, something..
her eyes furrowed, the next second she got a text.
luluπ€
Youre still alive right?
Zara chuckled silently before responding.
Yeah, can you come pick me up with some
extra clothes and pretty much everything?
Yeah, ofc. And i have a mega plan π
thx. what have you planned? Aside that
i have a tiny tiny issue here, he's still sleeping
plus i cant move.
Oh fuck. Just figure smth out ill be there in like 20 min.
GIRL, 20 MIN THATS ENOUGH TIME
FOR HIM TO MURDER ME!!!!
R.I.P Zara, you were loved.
f you lu.
She was left on read.
In her mind she formed an perfect escape plan. Replace myself with a pillow? that shit usually works in movies.
Maybe she would just get up and say she had places to be and then like bye? Ugh.
She definitely didn't want this to be awkward so she moved his arm off of her, and that man was strong! she had almost needed to rip it away with how strong that guys grip was.
She quietly sat up, in her own opinion she smelt like shit and she couldn't just sneak a shower could she?
She began dressing herself again and she swore she felt the mattress move. Fuck.
"Someones leaving early." his raspy morning voice said and she stopped in her movements for a second.
"I have places to be." she swiftly replied and then stood up. He chuckled and looked her up and down.
"You look like you're in need of a shower." he teased, walking slowly towards her with a sly grin.
she had completely forgotten that he had dressed himself in some grey sweatpants.
The urge to roll her eyes was there and she almost did it but he began talking again.
"Go use mine."
She raised her eyebrows at him, zaras eyes narrowed, was this his way of murdering her?
She hesitated for a second, eyeing him warily. She then shot him a smile muttering a quick thanks before heading to his bathroom.
<<<<>>>>
She washed the remains of this night off of her and suddenly she felt someone behind her.
Timos lips now sucked on her shoulders, almost driving her insane. She let out a soft moan as he created multiple hickeys on her skin, his hand wrapped around her delicate neck.
She leaned into his perfect touch, he muffled something against her shoulder.
"Round two?"
<<<<>>>>
Lucy and Zara pushed the car, it stopped working and they them being them couldn't bring the engine back to work.
"Fuck your Car." zara spat as she pushed it getting out of breath. Horns honked around them, they got ripped out of their thoughts when a guy spoke up.
"Hey, mama's, thats a nice ride."
"Yeah." lucy answered not wanting to make this conversation go longer than needed.
"I think im gonna have to take it off your hands." he purred with a smirk, looking them up and down. Zara snorted, looking at that dude in amusement.
"Y-You're gonna steal our car the one that broke down two blocks ago?" Lucy placed her hand onto the roof of the car staring at that man basically asking if he was serious.
"Yeah."
He lifted his shirt, showing off his gun which had been tucked into his jeans. Zara raised her eyebrows and turned her head to her best friend.
"Maybe take both of you for a spin, too."
Lucy chuckled.
The weirdos head was slammed into the front desk of the LAPD, his gun placed next to him.
"Officers Chen and Brown reporting for duty."
<<<<>>>>
Zara opened the door, she stepped into Sergeant Grey's office. He sat at his desk in the middle of the room, his eyes lifting from the paperwork once he heard the door opening.
"Hi, wade." she said and walked over to him. "Hey, sweetheart." he responded and she plopped into the seat from right across him.
"With what do i own the pleasure of you here?" he questioned and she raised her eyebrows.
"Cant i visit my favourite 'parent'?" she asked back and he laughed.
"Of course you can."
"Soo, i want the tea. Who's my T.O?" she whispered and placed her elbows on the desk waiting for grey to tell her.
"Secret." he responded, she rolled her eyes and then looked at the watch. "As lovely as it was seeing you, dad. i have to go to roll call."
She smiled, he gave her a smile back before she stood up and walked out of the room.
<<<<>>>>
Not 3 minutes later Sergeant Grey entered the room. "All right, all right. Settle down."
The entire room began sitting down. Zara, Lucy, Jackson and John being in the first row.
They had squeezed themselves into that place. Grey wiped the whiteboard and then turned around to face the entire room.
"So, okay. We got some new blood this morning. And some pushing the expiration date."
The entire crowd laughed, as John looked up and then away. Wade stepped closer to the table. "Get up."
All of them got up and turned around to face the crowd. "After six month's together in the Academy, you've earned the right to be here. But you'll have to prove yourself to stay. The way we do things matters. Protocol and tradition are the metal from which every cop in this city is forged. Understand?"
Each of the four nodded.
Tim snuck into the room, being late. He sat down next to his male friend, Ryan Stone. His gaze wandered across the entire room watching the rookies.
His eyes widened.
No.
Not her.
He wanted to actually get out of here, there was no way in hell that his one night stand stood like 10 meters in front of him.
"Sit down." Wade ordered and the new comers did as told. He walked back up to the stage beginning his speech again.
"It's time to play the Training Officer match game. Our contestants are Lucy Chen, a hotshot who made her first arrest before clocking in for work. Zara Brown, another hotshot who made her first arrest before clocking in for work. Legacy Jackson West, who broke all his dads records at the Academy. And John Nolan, who was born before disco died."
People began laughing at the last part of the sentence. "And the winners are Officer Stone, you get one of our hot shots Chen. Officer Bradford, you get our other hot shot Brown."
"Lu, look if the guy who got me is hot-" zara whispered to lucy who rolled her eyes before twisting her head into the direction of both guys.
Lucys eyes almost popped out of her skull, the guys had already been staring at her and she turned back around to Zara who waited for her answer.
Chen began mouthing something, Brown furrowed her eyebrows. She understood nothing that her best friend was telling her, well trying to tell her.
"Do not yturn around." lucy said.
Zara looked at her slightly offended thinking the guy she got was over 60 and looked like he was awaiting to get but 6 feet under.
She rolled her eyes and turned around.
Her eyes also popped out of her skull and she wanted to kill herself on the spot. She hoped that bradford was the one she didn't sleep with two times in 10 hours.
"Now, hear me. Today is your first day. Don't let it be your last. Forget the Academy and listen to your T.O.s. They'll teach you the way it should be done. Thats it. All right. Be safe out there."
Everyone got up and Zara prayed to everyone above to let her get the brown haired guy.
"Officer Bishop, i need a word with your rook."
"Yes, sir."
Zara left the room along with lucy to see both of the guys wanting for them outside.
"If i get blondie i might as well kill myself." she uttered and chen squeezed her hand to get her to cool down.
"Relax, zar. Everything will be alright."
She snorted.
"Sure."
They both now stood opposite the guys and Zara was almost shitting herself. She'll never ever sleep with someone again.
Lucy and her read the name tags silently and both of them stared at each other.
"not good." chen squeezed her hand and zara looked like a dear caught in headlights.
"Lets go boot." Stone sternly said and chen nodded giving brown a reassuring smile.
Boot? Seriously?
"You too, brown. We don't have time to lose." Bradford ordered and began walking off to somewhere.
Zara quickly jogged up now walking besides him.
They got their bags which much to her dismay Zara had to carry. He then led her up to the roof where they saw a police car. He came to a stop in front of her almost causing her to walk into him and embarrass herself even more.
"This is your shop. Do not call it a car. It is where you work." he began speaking and she nodded taking notes, the bags still hung around here shoulders and she swore they would be sore tomorrow.
She also had to hold two shotguns and writing with them was difficult but she mastered it. Tim led her around the car continuing to speak.
"First you check the exterior for damage. Any nicks, scrapes, or dents. Log them in."
He then opened the backseat door.
"Has the suspect left anything?" he then told her and faced her motioning for her to take a look.
She huffed and then slightly bend over to check for anything. "Money? Drugs? A dookie?" he continued looking at her bend over.
He groaned under his breath not letting her hear it. He would've complained on her not taking notes but she already was so he kept quiet.
"Onto the shotgun-safety check.Verify its empty. Clear it. Close the action." he ordered now and she did as told.
"Now Body-cam test." he instructed and she turned it on. "Officer Brown." she exclaimed after that.
Both of them got inside or the car. "Now we're inside, log in to the computer, put in our serial number."
She did as asked.
"You ready to go out there?" He asked and she turned her head to face him.
"Yes, sir."
<<<<>>>>
"So, why do you wanna be a cop?"
Tim had broken the silence, it had been a bit awkward and he so decided to talk a little.
"Is this a trick question?" She threw back turning herself to face him, hr glanced at her before turning back to the road.
"You want me to train you, I need to know why you're in this car."
She looked out of the window clearly a bit confused about what to say. "I've always liked to help peo-"
The tires screeched and Zara turned to Tim looking at him as if he was crazy. "I've been shot."
She narrowed her eyes looking at him seeing no wound or anything. "Wha-" she began but he cut her off.
"Where are you, boot?!"
"What?" she questioned looking at him if he was hallucinating or something. "Im bleeding to death. You have to call for help. Where are you?"
She then got it.
"Uh-"
"Where are you?!" he yelled as she looked around frantically.
"Um-"
She leaned out of the window trying to find a street sign as she heard him sigh. "Now im dead."
She stared at him, is that guy okay? "Its your fault."
she was about to protest but he didn't stop talking. "Get out."
She laughed out. "What?" For a moment she actually thought he was kiding but the look on his face told her something very different.
"Get out and walk. You can get back in when you know where you are."
<<<<>>>>
"You know where you are yet, Officer Brown? No? Then finish your story, why you became a cop. Here, ill do it for you-"
She looked around trying to figure out where they were because she desperately wanted to get back inside of the car her feet already tired.
"You want to help other people so badly, because no one used to help you when you had problems."
Damn.
That shit was close.
Horns honked, tires screeched as a car pulled up behind them. They sang in spanish as tim unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car.
Both him and Zara walked towards the car.
"Gentlemen, i have an honest question for you. Were you grown in a petri dish of stupid?" He spat and Zara turned to face him narrowing her eyes.
The man who didn't understand english began talking. "Por favor, no hablo ingles."
Tim cut him off. "Don't pull that crap with me."
Zara spoke up.
"licencia y registro, por favor."
as the driver gave that to tim he looked at Zara. "Well, aren't you fancy?"
He looked at the papers, them he began talking. "Tell him that it's immigrants like them that make Americans like you look bad. If it was up to me, we'd send them all back by catapult."
Brown literally looked at him in shock, what the actual fuck. "dijo que-" she began speaking.
"Debes evitar tocar la bocina a la policΓa. Cuando su camiΓ³n comete una infracciΓ³n de la mayorΓa de los cΓ³digos de vehΓculos estatales."
Obviously she didn't tell the men what tim had just told her. Bradford gave them the papers back and walked away from the car and towards the brunette.
"Officer Brown, a word?"
He leaned forward and shut her body-cam off. It beeped, before he spoke up. "Do i strike you as a man who means what he says?"
"Yes, sir." she responded unsure of where this conversation was going.
"Do i seem laid-back to you? Wishy-washy in any way?"
"No, sir." she responded once again.
He huffed and spoke up, just in spanish this time. "en ese caso ΒΏpor quΓ© cambiarΓas las palabras que salen de mi boca?"
im so gonna kill myself.
"Everything is a test, Officer Brown, and you just got another 'F'. I know what you're thinking, was that casual racism a test too, or just the Spanish? Unfortunately for you theres no way to know." he looked between her and the place that the yellow car once was.
Grey will so hear about this.
<<<<>>>>
Brownford approached a weaponed man who stood on a car, they had just gotten out of the shop.
Zara sighed not knowing what to think of this. "Sir, how about you tell me what the problem is?" Nolan asked as he stepped closer.
"The Unicorn is laughing at me!" he yelled and Zara had to stop herself from laughing out loud.
"Okay, great, we can help you with that. We just need you to get down off the car." John tried to sooth the situation but it seemed like that man was high as hell.
"No. No, you're trying to trick me."
Nolan got out a no but the man continued rambling.
"You don't want me to find him."
"Sir, i can handle unicorns, all right? This is what we train for. I just need you to get off the car and give me a description so we can find him."
The man looked like he bought it and slid down the car. "Exactly. Yeah, just jump down. Put the bat down right there. Excellent. Perfect. What's your name?"
High man listened and did as told but his eyes widened and he ran off the second he was asked for his name.
Nolan immediately ran after, Zara sighed looking at Tim already knowing what he was gonna say.
She innerly begged.
"Go get him, boot."
She rolled her eyes before chasing after them, she quickly caught up to them.
When a car almost ran John over she managed to get past him and laughed a "to slow." at him.
They began chasing the suspect in the crowd pushing various people out of their way.
Zara followed that guy into an alleyway, almost catching him. She heard grunting as she saw Nolan trying to climb over a fence.
He failed miserably and she had to push down her laugh, she then managed to tackle the suspect onto the ground almost breaking her bones in the process.
She heard two cars stop in front of her as the sirens chirped. She looked up while cuffing the man.
Tim stepped out of the car as he approached John who was still stuck in the fence. "Please let go of me! You have to let me go! You don't know what you're doing! I have to find him! Help me!"
Bradford ripped open the lock taking it away and throwing it sideways, freeing nolan.
"I have to find him! The Unicorn! The unicorn!" the now cuffed man rambled and zara somehow managed to keep him in place.
"Welcome to the arrest."
"I have to- I have to find him! He needs me!"
A phone rang which clearly belonged to the suspect.
"Who needs you?" Officer Bishop asked as Tim helped Zara to get the men on his feet.
"Lucas! I can't find him!"
The ringing continues as Bishop fishes out the phone and takes the call. The cellphone chimed as the man began rambling again.
"Please, let go of me!" he heavily breathed in and out trying to catch his breath.
"Hi, this is Officer Bishop. Y-Yes, ma'am, im with your husband now. Slow down."
"Lucas!" he whimpered repeatedly as bishop finally asks who he is.
She turned to Nolan who had already been looking at her. "Lucas needs me!"
"Im gonna get a headache." zara uttered as she couldn't stand that mans voice anymore.
"Sir, where is your boy?" Bishop asked.
"I only left him in the car for a minute. The unicorn has him." he coughs out, John looked up to the sun.
"That car is gonna be an oven." he breathed out heavily before continuing. "We gotta find that unicorn."
<<<<>>>>
It was lunch, after that weird unicorn man Zara was tired out. Nolan and Bishop approached the trio.
"So, how was everyones morning? Having fun yet?"
Zara rolled her eyes before Jackson spoke up. "Think someone could use a hug." he turned to her.
"Don't you dare!" She seethed before walking off leaving lucy alone with the two.
"Uh, her T.O.'s utilizing time-tested practices to intimidate her." Chen explained as they began walking away from the truck as well. "Oh, well, thats their job, right? But how do you know that?"
Lucy rolled her eyes. "Im her bestfriend, duh! she texted me."
John nodded before continuing. "They've got to get inside our heads, push out buttons, see how we react. Its not personal. Just turn it around and figure out what makes your training officer tick."
He now explains to Zara who actually appreciates his words. "You make it sound so easy." she sighed.
"Piece of cake." he answered, lucy raised her eyebrows questioning him. "Really?"
Nolan nodded.
"Then i guess you already know what your T.O wants for lunch."
John looked around hesitantly, kind of looking scared at Chens words.
He then went back to the truck.
<<<<>>>>
Talia sighed before speaking up. "How's your day going, Angela? Cause i saved a kid. Probably gonna make the paperwork tomorrow."
She plopped down at her seat seeing all three of her friends. Angela clears her throat. "Mm. You're so cute trying to get under my skin."
"Trying?" Ryan asks and Tim finishes the sentence for him. "She's already under. Just like your under hers." he then slurps on his slushie.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Angela looks at Tim. "Both of you." Talia then says.
Both of the woman narrowed their eyes at the two men. "You've wanted to be detective since you were a kid." Stone began trying to explain it but Bradford finishes his sentence again.
"Talia just wants it 'cause its a stepping stone to the top. And that pisses you off. Meanwhile, she knows your ability to be mercenary gives you a leg up 'cause she's got an overdeveloped sense of morality, which gets in her way."
"Shut up." Both of the females say at the same time clearly not liking his words even though they are the truth.
"Well, i don't know why the hell you two determined to get out of patrol. This is where all the fun is." Tim exclaimed.
He then noticed Zara approaching and then his entire demeanour changed. "You didn't forget the hot sauce, did you, Boot?" He sighed as she placed his meal in front of him.
"A thank you would be highly appreciated." she gritted out, he as a human being had pissed her off enough. Even so much she wanted to slam the food she payed for in his wrinkled face.
But that meant she'd lose her job and she wasn't going to risk that for this asshole.
Tim glared at her as she stood there with her arms crossed. "Damn, i like her already." Ryan smiled and Bradford then snapped his head to him looking at him with a deadly stare.
She smiled back at the other guy at the table. Lucy was one hell of a lucky woman. Her on the other hand not so much.
"Hot sauce, boot. Now."
Tim ordered and Zaras eyes narrowed before walking off to get him his fucking sauce.
She returned about 30 seconds later, holding the sauce package in her hand.
With a forced smile she gave it to him, his own forced smile met hers as their hands brushed against each other for a split second.
She let go off the sauce and sat down beside her rookie friends, when she did so Nolan got up and left when bishop called him over.
<<<<>>>>
After their long shift the four friends sat in the same bar they sat in yesterday.
The one where Zara met Tim, or well where Sara met Timo.
"To the first day." Lucy began as she raised her beer bottle, clinking it with each of her friends before drinking.
"You want to talk about it?"
"No." Nolan shook his head but reconsidered his words the next second.
"I felt him die. A guy I-I was just talking to. And i thought i was ready, but i don't think anything can prepare you for that."
Zara pitied that man, she could never ever imagine how someone could die in front of her in her first shift.
Even when she almost died herself multiple times. Death was creepy, lurking in the dark waiting to tear you away from the bright side and bury you under the earth to rot and be forgotten.
"I saw my first body when i was 10. My dad took me to the morgue, pulled a drawer and there was this kid, maybe 18. O.D'd on oxy." Jackson explained and Zaras jaw dropped.
"Thats some questionable parenting right there." Lucy said already recovered from the shock.
"Im sorry. Didn't your folks put you in therapy at the same age?" Jackson questioned.
"They were trying to teach me coping skills. I-" Lucy was kind of offended but didn't really say anything about it.
"Yeah, so was my dad." he cut her off before continuing, she nodded her head taking a sip of her beer bottle.
"You know, this magnifying glass. It reveals everything, especially the parts you're trying to hide."
This actually made Zara think.
She had a lot and i mean a lot to hide. Her childhood, ex boyfriend, parents, family members, her attempts and everything in between.
And now fucking her boss twice had also been added to the list.
She actually was so in thought she didn't even see the female bartender practically eye-fucking her seating neighbour Nolan.
Lucy sighed ripping her out of her thoughts. "Wow. Ive never seen a real badge bunny before."
Jackson raised his bottle agreeing before John began speaking. "Well, she's just being friendly."
Zara could see jealousy in Lucy's eyes for a split second making her narrow her eyes slightly.
"You really are struggling. Cause she practically handed you her panties." Chen explained while looking at Johns reaction.
"Im fine." he casually says making Zara and Jackson look at each other for a moment not believing him.
Lucy frowned visibly.
She looked concerned, much to concerned for Zaras liking. "Hey, listen to me. What happened wasn't your fault. That guy was never going to admit a woman was kicking his ass. It wouldn't have mattered if you'd said anything to Bishop, and if i- If she said any different, then she was just flat-out wrong."
That was some soft speech lucy had just done here and Zara knew it immediately.
Her and Nolan were not just best buddies.
No no, there was so much more.
"Thank you." he replied sincerely.
"You're welcome."
It was quiet for a few seconds before Jackson and then a woman spoke up. "Im gonna go to the toilet." he stood up and left.
"Someone had a lot to drink." Zara laughed before a worker started talking.
"It's karaoke hour. First up, Zara and Lucy!"
People began clapping and the two brunettes stood up. The lyrics already began playing and Chen took the two beer bottles with her before running after Brown.
They got on the stage and began singing. "Cheers to the freaking weekend, ill drink to that. Yeah, Yeah. Oh, let the Jameson sink in, ill drink to that. Yeah, yeah, Yeah, Yeah. Don't let the bastards get you down."
Both of them noticed the female bartender skipping by John and giving him a tissue, with probably her number on.
"Turn around with another round. Theres a party at the bar. Hey, hey. Everybody put your glasses up, and ill drink to that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll drink to that."
Zaras brown eyes met some blue ones in the crowd and she knew that tomorrow she would probably never hear the end of it.
<<<<>>>>
"So, all right, all right. Settle down. I just got a disturbing video. Never seen anything so horrific. So prepare yourselves." Sergeant Grey said and everyone got in their rightful seats.
Everyone looked at the TV not knowing what to expect. In the beginning you could hear panting and rattling, then it was grunting.
And you could also clearly hear the people laughing considering that this was nolans body-cam footage from yesterday when he got stuck in an fence.
"Such grace and athleticism has never before been see in the LAPD. Is that a gazelle wearing the blues? Or a dinosaur from a long forgotten age?"
The entire room was laughing crazily but that clearly didn't stop Grey from continuing.
"Now you will see Officer Brown execute a perfect flying tackle."
It indeed showed the way Zara had tackled the suspect in which she had cursed under her breath, cursing the suspect, bradford and herself out.
luckily you didn't hear the tim part because that shit could've costed her her career.
The sirens in the video wailed as everyone (bradford being the exception) clapped. She gave lucy a fist pump.
"All right, fun's over. This is BOLO for Mr. Lance Selby, who violated his parole yesterday. Scale from 1 to 10, this guy's a 12. Did a nickel for attempted murder with a claw hammer. So whoever gets him off the street will get a sincere handshake andΒ Super Bowl Sunday off. That's it. Be safe out there." Grey explained and everyone cheered when he said that they would get the day off.
<<<<>>>>
Bradford spoke up after like 30 minutes of silence, luckily he hadn't mentioned yesterday.
"I've decided in your punishment."
Before he opened his car door she asked. "Are you gonna tell me what it is?"
He shook his head getting out of the shop. "More of a "show you" kind of guy."
Damn.
That was hot.
She followed him out of the shop and slightly jogged up to catch up with his fast walk.
"Ghost head." he called out.
Two men who probably had drugs on them turned around and wanted to make a run for it.
"No, no, hold up a minute."
So called ghost head spoke up as he stopped in his tracks. "Yo, this is harassment."
"What? No, it's just some good customer service. Kind of a like frequent flyer program for dirt-bag drug dealers. Search him, boot."
Zara sighed, listening to him. "Turn around, grab the wall." she ordered and the criminal ass hat grinned.
"Make me, boot."
Zara was hell bend on rolling her eyes but she didn't. She took a step closer to him causing him to swing at her multiple times.
She dodged successfully, before grabbing his arm, she now actually knew why grey taught her how to fight.
She was distracted for a tiny tiny moment allowed Ghost head to push her into the wall.
He tried to reach for her gun, causing her to bitch slap him across the face. He punched her in the stomach, she would so throw up on him.
She groaned as she heard tim speaking. "Keep your hands up, Brown."
"I will talk to grey about-" she cursed out and he cut her off.
"Don't let him get on top of you!" He crossed his arms.
Zara grabbed his egg head and head butted him. She punched him in the gut twice before pushing him on the ground. When he attempted to get back up she kicked him back down not letting him even take a shot at standing up.
"You're under arrest." she huffed, the handcuffs clicked as she put them on. He proudly stared at his rookie. "That was my punishment?" she asked still catching her own breath.
"Yep. Plus i got to see if you could handle yourself, so its really a two-fer."
She cursed him out under her breath, again.
Both of them managed to get the dealer off of the ground. Tim opened his mouth once again.
"When you're telling this story in lock up, you might wanna leave out the part where you got your ass kicked by a girl."
He playfully slapped his shoulder before opening the backseat door.
"Hey! Hey!"
A random blonde ran up to them. "Hey, let him go! Come on."
Tims facial expressions said everything that Zara had to know. They knew each other.
"You all right here?" she asked tim who ignored her. "For real." the unknown blonde continued.
"Isabel."
Finally, the blonde had a name.
"Leave him alone."
"Isab- Isabel." He stepped forward a hand on his chest as Zara moved the dealer to the car giving the two a bit privacy.
"its- its me. Its tim." he calmly explained to the woman in front of him.
She shook her head avoiding to meet his eyes. "It's okay. I've been trying to find you just-just to make sure you were okay. Are you okay?"
Zara heard the concern in his voice, was she a ex-girlfriend? she knew that whatever the two must've had was more than friendship.
"i'm fine, im fine-"
Tim began stepping closer which caused her to shriek back and begin to shake. "Get off me!"
He raised his hands in surrender. "I just want to help. I just want to help."
She took advantage of his vulnerability.
"You want to help me?" she asked.
"Yeah." he nodded, hoping to hear that she would go into withdrawal to get clean.
"Give me all your cash." she ordered and his hopes disappeared once again.
"What?" he questioned confused. "Give me your money." she repeated louder.
"God, i'll get you rehab." he began trying to convince her to get clean and be herself again.
The self he had loved and married all those years ago.
"I don't need rehab." she tells him.
His eyes swell up with tears.
"Come on, please." she whispered.
He turned around to face Zara who looked at him in empathy and kind of sadness.
She still held on to the criminal, trying not to listen into their personal conversation.
He turned back around to the blonde addict. He stammered, not knowing where to start or what even to say in this situation.
He reached into his pants pocket and pulled out a wad of cash, she looked at him a last time before taking it and running away.
Zara cleared her throat.
"Hey. what do you want me to do with this guy?" she asked softly making the dealer turn to her in confusion about why she was being so nice to the guy who almost made her get beat up.
"Just let him go." he sighed before walking to the car, slamming the backseat doors closed. "Let him go."
Tim got inside of the car as Ghost head spoke up. "Let's go." he motioned to his cuffed wrists.
She reached for the key and then uncuffed him. Zara walked around the car biting her inner cheek knowing this talk will be very very uncomfortable.
She got in, not knowing what to say first. Her mouth was slightly open trying to find the right words to say.
"What the hell just happened?" she asked not looking into his direction.
"That was my wife." he breathed out as if it had been a burden he had to carry for a while now.
She turned her head into his direction still in shock.
He was married?
Damn.
Not the good one.
"I haven't seen her in almost a year."
Tim looked like he wanted to cry. Zara actually considered getting out of the car to let him do that.
"I won't tell anyone." she promised immediately.
"You're damn right you won't." he declared.
Before anything else could be said Talia began speaking over the radio.
"7-Adam-15. Requesting additional unit to meet us at 1350 Bellview Street. Possible location of our BOLO suspect, we are en route."
"7-Adam-19. Show us responding."
Tim starts the engine of the shop, Zara puts her seatbelt on.
They drove into the direction of the suspect. "7-Adam-19, be advised, we are approximately five minutes away."
"That's the address for Selby. All right, we'll set up in they alley behind, in case Selby rabbits and Bishop and Nolan come calling." he explains while driving slower to check the surroundings.
He turns into the alleyway, dogs barked as the police car approached. "There, that's out guy, Selby." Zara points out.
"Call it in. Backup and airship."
Brown takes the radio and speaks into it. "7-Adam-19. Show us code 6 on BOLO suspect. Need backup and airship."
Both of them stepped out of the car, when she stepped further away from the car on her way to approach them he interrupted her doings.
"No, no, no, you stay here till we clear them from that car."
She stepped back behind the shop door as told. "LAPD, gentlemen. Step away from the car and show me your hands."
Zara and Tim had their hands on their belts, ready to reach for their guns if needed.
"There a problem, officer?"
Tim took his gun before speaking up. "There will be if you don't show me those hands. Now!"
The BOLO suspect reached for a gun in the trunk, firing at the two officers. His friend following his actions.
Brown and Bradford fired back, Zara was cut off by a groan. The gunfire continued as the shop door glass shattered beyond repair.
She stepped back, not seeing Tim. She rushed to the backside of the car. She got her radio out.
"7-Adam-19. Officer Bradford down. Shots fired. In the alley of Bellview and Clinton. I repeat, officer down! Please send help right away."
She got back up and then began shooting back again. Zara took Tim by his upper arm and began dragging him behind the car, struggling.
He grunted in pain, turning to meet her eyes. "Don't worry about me! Shoot back!"
She looked at him if he was sure, he nodded and she went back to firing her gun.
But before she did that, she took a small rag from her pocket and placed it on his wound, grabbing his hand putting it onto that to apply the needed pressure.
Sirens wailed close by, Zara fired her gun like crazy. Selby's friend heard the sirens and ran to his car, driving away.
The BOLO suspect still fired at Brown. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Nolan and Bishop right behind the suspect and his accomplice.
The car started to burn. Zaras brown eyes widened as she rushed back to tim to drag him away from the car that could possibly blow up.
He grunted in pain, she took him by the upper arms and dragged him a few feet away.
Nolan and Bishop took care of the suspects and Zara applied more pressure onto the wound.
"Stay awake." she spat and lightly slapped him to ensure his eyes would stay opened. Right on time the paramedics arrived, they immediately began doing their job.
"You okay?" John asked.
"No! I got shot!" Tim groaned and coughed after that.
"You go get him, Boot!" he screeched at Zara who was about to leave. "Brown! Go to the hospital with Bradford, we'll take over." Stone declared and she nodded.
Chone then rushed off after the suspect not leaving Tim much time to protest.

Tim was wheeled out of surgery, according to the doctors he would wake up in about thirty minutes.
Zara had gotten her clothes from lucy which she changed into during his surgery.
Zara called grey, explaining what happened and he understood her not coming back to the station because of the incident.
She sat by his bed side, tired as hell. Her eyes almost shut but she drank a small sip of her energy drink hoping it would keep her up a bit longer.
Brown was on her phone, glancing at Bradford every once in a while. Ryan had been here, brought some food for both of them because the hospital food was shit.
Both him and Lucy arrived here at the same time, Zara had been so thankful to finally change out of that uniform.
Zara already ate her food, she was starving. At this point Tim decided to wake up.
"What time is it?" he uttered and she checked the clock.
"Almost 9PM." she replies, he then turns to her acknowledging her presence.
"You're still here?" he asked and she nods. "Where the hell else should i be? You could've died."
He rolled his eyes mimicking her words under his breath. "What did the doctors say?"
"You'll get out of intensive care tomorrow. They told me you were lucky that the bullet wasn't closer to your spine otherwise you would be paralysed now."
After that it was silent.
"You know, what i really want right now?" he began.
She laughed out, raising the package of where his food was inside. "Your favourite truck meal with extra hot sauce?"
He chuckled.
