Chapter 30 ~ The Ex-Girl

Episode: Season 3 - The Kids Are All Right Pt. 1

To say I didn't want to go was a major understatement. Why Sam made me come along, I have no idea. Okay, well, maybe Dean would need help on this case but this extra part? Dean could go on his own to see the girl he was with eight years ago. It was just another one of his "last dying wishes" again which he'd already had ten of if anybody was counting. Oh, wait, yeah I was counting.

I trudged along behind Dean as we walked up to the woman, Lisa's, house. Dean knocked and just a few seconds later, it swung open. A beautiful, dark-haired woman stood in the doorway. She must have been about a year older than Dean but she looked even more so. Her brown eyes widened in shock when she saw him and he smirked. I rolled my eyes as I stood beside him, arms crossed over my chest.

"Dean!" she exclaimed, a smile on her face.

"Lisa. How's it going?" he asked her.

"Wow," she breathed out, obviously not expecting the visit, "So, uh, how long's it been?"

"Eight, going on nine years now. Crazy, right?,"

"Yeah. So, what are you doing here?"

" Oh, I was just I was passing through-" he started and a disgruntled scoff escaped my lips to which Dean elbowed me in the ribs for.

"-and I couldn't resist. I remembered that you love surprises," he continued like nothing had happened, that stupid cocky smirk still on his lips.

She turned to face me then and I could tell she didn't like me from the look in her eyes.

"I'm sorry, who are you supposed to be?" she smiled fakely and I frowned.

"Oh, this is Parker. Don't worry about her. She's just my little brother's friend," he assured her and I bit my lip so hard I thought I'd draw blood.

Ouch. Not that I expected any different since it was Dean we were talking about but he could have said it in a nicer way. She nodded, turning her attention to Dean again.

"Yeah.... Dean Winchester. Wow, just wow," she nodded, grinning, "I'm sorry. You kind of came at a bad time. We're having a party," she explained.

"Oh, too bad. I guess we'll just be on our way the-" I started to walk away but Dean grabbed my wrist roughly, spinning me back around and I sent a brief fake smile Lisa's way.

"Well, I love parties." he smiled at her.

I made a quiet growling sound as I followed Dean into her house. I already didn't like this woman but now he expected me to go to her stupid party?! Oh, Sam would be hearing about this. But when we walked into the backyard, it wasn't what either of us were expecting. Little kids ran around, laughing and screaming and balloons and streamers were everywhere.

"So who's the party for?" he inquired cautiously.

"Ben. My son," she told him.

I snorted, feeling laughter bubble up in my throat at the priceless expression on Dean's face. He totally wasn't expecting that bombshell.

"Oh, you have a-" he started to ask.

"Yeah...That's him," she cut him off, pointing to a little boy across the yard.

"Yes! AC/DC rules! Awesome. That is so cool!" he said in delight as he opened a birthday gift.

His hair was short and dark like Lisa's. But his eyes were an eerie green. He wore a plain black t-shirt paired with a dark green coat and washed-out jeans. I frowned, realization starting to dawn on me.

"How old?" he turned to her and she smiled, still watching her son.

"Eight." she answered simply before excusing herself.

A pit formed in my stomach and my eyebrows shot to my hairline, turning to Dean.

"Care to explain?"

Dean shrugged, obviously not getting the hint.

"Splain wha exactly?" he talked around the bite of cake in his mouth and I huffed, rolling my eyes.

"Eight years old, Dean? Eight? Is any of that making sense to you right now?!" I told him in hushed tones and this time, he rolled his eyes at me.

"Yeah? So she has a kid that's 8, what's wrong with that?" he asked, walking off to the loudest area of the yard - the bouncy-house.

Small kids ran past me and I cringed, dodging them as I followed Dean. Nasty little things. I never had liked kids. Little snots always tended to get on my nerves. Ben was leaning against the fence as we walked up and he looked over at Dean briefly.

"'Sup?" he asked and Dean nodded.

"'Sup with you?" he repeated to him.

Just then, a woman and her daughter passed by and both boys heads turned. I shook my head at them disapprovingly. Typical male.

"So it's your birthday," Dean trailed off, trying to make conversation with the kid.

"Guilty," Ben shrugged.

"It's a cool party,"

"Dude, it's so sweet. And this Moonbounce? It's epic!"

Dean and I looked up, eyeing the bouncy-house and I made a clucking sound with my tongue, arching my eyebrows briefly.

"Yeah, it's pretty awesome," Dean agreed.

"You know who else thinks they're awesome? Chicks. It's like hot-chick city out there," Ben told him, slapping his arm like guys do before placing his plate of uneaten cake on a table and running off to the bouncy-house.

I arched an eyebrow at Dean and saw him mentally doing the math. He dropped the cake onto the ground suddenly and took off towards the house.

"I TOLD YOU SO!" I screamed after him, chasing him all the way.
