𝙎𝙬𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙒𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 | demetri volturi & depressed reader
Summary: Demetri Volturi is a constant presence in your life and even a saviour who saves you from yourself.
Warning(s): none that I know of besides the mention of depression and the descriptions. Basically fluff.
It wasn't an uncommon view for Demetri to come across whenever he visited you. He always found you in bed, unmotivated to do anything. Even refusing to wash your hair, feeling exhausted despite of not doing a chore. Sometimes you skipped your meals too much only to eat suddenly a lot. Not a single comment came from him. But it wasn't that he is ignorant rather, he chose not to say anything. Truly, he was uneducated about such prospects of behaviour though he could tell enough that you were anything but fine even if it was a constant insistence from yourself when it came to convincing others to not worry.
Unfortunately, it was difficult to respect your privacy when you were so sick and he really wanted to help. Often his own feelings would cloud his judgement when it came to a certain depressed being though it was a rare case to everything else.
Having enough of your behaviour, he finally decided to binge read books about mental health, researched more on those topics instead of busying himself with more foreign books. You were more important to him. After learning every symptom and everything else, he was still cautious to deal with you. Since you have always been a very sensitive matter for him. Everyone in his immortal life who knew him also additionally knew to keep their minds off of you for the tracker was not only the best for his gift in the entire world but also a feral cruel man when challenged at his soft spot aka - you.
"You must bath today." Demetri said quietly, dipping his palm in the warm tub testing the temperature.
Disapproving sounds of pure confusion came from your movements. He watched every reaction on your face intently especially the way your brows furrowed in disbelief causing a twitch on his lips. He was intrigued by you for a reason. "Are you trying to stay I have begun to reek?" You questioned.
"That would be your words, not mine," He stifled a short chuckle before standing up and patting your shoulder gently even if you stumbled lightly from his strength that he seemed to control with a few imperfections. "Have a good bath."
After washing yourself when you stepped out of the bathroom finally, Demetri's burgundy eyes lightened up as he approached you, wrapping a warm towel around you as if you were a newborn. Helping you to perch up on a stool, he began to dry your hair.
"I can do this on my own, you know?" You grumbled as he rubbed the towel gently in between the hair strands.
He only hummed softly, continuing his ministrations. "I do know that. Very capable, aren't you? Maybe that is why your condition has been quite deteriorated."
A frown overtook your features while you stared at him ominously at his reflection on the mirror. He seemed unbothered by the looks you were giving to him as he focused on brushing your hair and using the cool air dryer to make sure you don't become sick afterwards due to drenched hair. "You don't understand." Demetri laughed softly at your response as if you were a mere childish thing. His touch so gentle even more than a human treating an infant.
"Oh darling, I do. Very much actually, if only you knew what it does to me seeing you in this condition." He sighed softly as he knelt before you, taking your warm hands in his cold hands.
It still irked at you at how confusing he was being. "Don't lie to me. No one gives a damn about how I am doing. Why would anyone to begin with? I'm dumb and ugly. Good for nothing as they all say! You are just pitying me. Trying to act like my saviour. But guess what, I don't want your sympathy." You scoffed at him, pulling your hands away from his gentle hold.
Demetri's eyes flicked to you concern etching on his features. He didn't say anything for a while but he began to stand up slowly and was about to leave which made your heart feel smaller. He is just like everyone else, you thought to yourself.
But he didn't. He put the hair dryer as he looked at you once more. "You are wrong as much I hate to see this. But I care about you which is why I am doing this. Not for the credits you have been assuming," He explained gently but then his eyes crinkled lightly when he smiled. "I am only offended that you would think me to be so narcissistic."
"Well, why do you care?" You retorted.
"Wrong question, why shouldn't I care?" Demetri said quietly, leaning closer. His fingers reaching as they grazed over your cheekbone causing you to still. For a hand so cold, his touch was warmer than a blanket when it came for his soft spot. "If only you could see yourself from my eyes then perhaps, you would realize how much you truly mean to me." He spoke defeated almost as if telling you those won't matter.
You frowned, gripping his wrist now. The question was hissed. "Why? How do you see me? Answer me instead of looking away."
He turned his face at you and his gaze softened, seeing his own reflection in your eyes. "You are really beautiful in ways I cannot describe. It is not physical. Rather, I feel grateful for every moment to see you. And I don't think... I wish to stop seeing your face. Let this be the face I see always until my end," His thumb brushed over your bottom. Every word of Demetri was passionate. "I could love you for an eternity if you would allow and take away everything that bothers you. Is that what you wanted to hear, (Y/N)?" He looked at you curiously.
And you took in a breath, gripping his fingers from your lips holding him tightly as if he might just go away if you release him. "Do you mean it?"
Demetri who felt your need and the desperation to be loved, nodded as he held you close. His firm arms circling around your body holding to his chest. "I do. Every word."
