𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐤!
Make your own choices and maneuver your way through this exciting game of love and soccer.
"Are you playing one of those dating games?" You jumped, pressing your phone against your chest to hide it from your grandfather in the driver's seat. "Keep your eyes on the road!" You snapped making the old man laugh.
"Please, your father already told me that you play those cheesy boyfriend games whenever you get the chance." You huffed, leaning on the door and turning your phone to face away from him. You glanced at the title again. Being as active with these games as you were, you were surprised that you hadn't seen any ads or promotions for this game up until now. You scrolled through a few of the in-game pictures.
"You take all the pain away..." was one of the quotes under a picture of a man with pink hair.
"I don't want to see you in anyone else's jersey but mine... " It was a quote from a man with purple hair. You rolled your eyes, every sports game you had played had cheesy quotes like this. You continued scrolling but none of the rest of them really caught your eye except one of a man with dark hair and yellow highlights.
"Just give in to me, sugar. "
Weird.
While the rest of their quotes had something to do with soccer, this one seemed random. You kept scrolling, skimming over the characters, and sneak peeks of the scenes in the game.
"Hopefully instead of playing those cringy games, you'll find yourself a real boyfriend." You didn't realize your screen was visible again until the old man spoke up, and you turned to glare at him.
"You're not funny " This time, you shut your phone off completely and turned to
stare out the window. The fields and hills were beginning to change and more familiar buildings like stores and restaurants were beginning to dot the landscape, letting you know that you were approaching your destination. Thank Goodness.
You sighed, opening your phone and looking down at the game again, this time making sure to keep your screen out of sight of the old man. While it didn't stick out, you had already made it to the end of all the good games, and starting a new game while moving to a new place sounded somewhat appealing, so reluctantly you pressed install.
"Welcome home!" Your grandfather said as he swung the door open to his house. For an old man, you had to admit his taste wasn't bad. After years of saving when he and your late grandmother were young, they were able to settle in a nice house in a nice neighborhood. The well-furnished entryway with a living room on the left and a dining room on the right connecting to the kitchen in the back. Directly in front of you was a staircase which after numerous Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings you knew led to his tv and game room, his and your grandmother's office, guest rooms, and a few other rooms along with your bedroom.
You were relieved to see that it had been redecorated, or at least he got a new bed, and some of the toys were gone so you could add new things.
"I'll start dinner!" Your grandfather called from downstairs. "Make yourself at home!"
You flopped down on your bed, too lazy to unpack, and instead opened your phone to once again be met with the game. Scrolling some more, you saw another boy with white hair.
"Still so riled up after the game...You can help me with that right?"
You cringed at the quote before scrolling again. It was a picture of all of them with their name listed under them, but you didn't bother to read them and instead clicked on the open button that appeared now that it was installed .
Blue Lock!
The title screen shone in blue, black, and white colors, with mini soccer emojis dancing around it as a loading screen appeared below it saying that it was downloading data. You raised a brow.
What could a basic ass game like this need an entirely separate folder for?
You hooked your phone up to your charger before heading downstairs, where your grandfather stood before the stove.
"I told that friend of yours that you'd be coming back. He seemed pretty excited," he said as you sat down at the table, looking over the list of schools he had taken for you to pick.
"Grandpa, I was friends with just about every kid in the neighborhood. You're going to have to be more specific." He chuckled in amusement.
"You know, that boy that you were always sneaking around with, thinking me and your parents never knew where or who you were with. What was his name again?" You raised a brow, tired mind coming to a blank as you tried to remember who it was.
"He's been coming over here every now and then, hoping you were visiting. His name is...Y...Yoichi!" He exclaimed and memories came flooding back to you at the mention of his name. All the playdates, sleepovers, and movie nights that you had with the raven-haired boy. All the playful teasing from the other kids that you two were dating. Your face scrunched up. "That's creepy. I haven't been here in four years and he still remembers me?"
Your grandfather laughed at your expression.
"He's quite the soccer star around here," he said. "I come to the games every now and then and he always comes to greet me. Although, yeah, I think he just uses it as an excuse to ask about you." You cringed at the thought of your childhood friend that you hadn't seen in years still having a crush on you.
"He goes to that school, I think," your grandfather pointed to the first school on the list as he set down a plate of spaghetti on the table in front of you before sitting down across from you with his own plate.
"Ichinan High School," you read out loud as you scrolled through a few of the links under it. "Looks like they're known most for their soccer team even though they didn't make it to nationals this year."
"Yeah, a lot of the schools around here are known for their soccer teams. You should be a manager. Maybe you'll find a boyfriend." You groaned dramatically. "You are way too interested in my love life."
"Well I'd much rather my granddaughter have a real boyfriend than an imaginary one," he said with a mouthful of food. "Plus you're coming to that age where you're going to start having urges and-"
"Alright, I'm done eating so I'm going to unpack," you said loudly as you jumped up from the table, putting your plate in the sink before rushing off into your room.
You picked up your phone to see the game was almost done downloading and let your hand dangle off the side of the bed as you lay down. You stared at the trees outside your windows that you used to climb, small animals running up and down them and the wind making them bend and sway. Your blinking became slow, the exhaustion from the long trip finally catching up to you. You just barely managed to gather the energy to switch the light off before allowing yourself to fall asleep.
"Aw, how cute. Sleep tight pretty..."
