"So the two of you were fighting, and you got pushed into the door which opened to reveal Yoichi Isagi's body?" The cop asked, and Chigiri gripped your hand comfortingly as you nodded. "But wasn't he your date?" The male cop asked, and you nodded again. "So shouldn't you have been with him?"
"I went to talk to get some punch for the both of us while he talked to some friends. Then I started talking to-"
"And who were these friends he was talking to?" The woman asked.
"Um, Nagi and Reo-"
"So while he was getting murdered, you were getting juice?" The man said, and Chigiri turned to glare at him. "How long does getting punch take?"
"Long enough if you're the reason he got attacked?" Your breath got caught in your throat at their words.
Your fault?
"Hold on, why would she be the reason he got attacked?"
"Well, she could've been having him set up."
Set up? Your hands shook, Chigiri's protests being drowned out by your own thoughts. Was this your fault? Would this have ever happened if you'd just sucked it up and gone with him to go see Reo? Tears filled your eyes, and oticing this, Chigiri asked the cops to leave.
You didn't realize they had left until you heard the door close, and Chigiri wrapped an arm around you, pulling you close to him. "Do don't listen to them," he muttered. "They're just idiot cops
that are taking advantage of the absence of an adult to intimidate you. None of it was your fault." You closed your eyes, wishing everything would all go away. "I just wanna sleep," you muttered, and Chigiri nodded."
Alright
, then let's go." Chigiri made sure you were comfortable in bed before preparing to clean the dishes from your food, but to his surprise, you called out to him. "Hey, Chigiri?" He turned to look at you. "What
is it?"
"Can you sit with me for a bit? At least until I go to sleep?" Chigiri felt his heart swell as he quickly climbed into bed with you, hugging you close and grinning when you buried your face in his chest. "I' ll stay for as long as you need."

Once you were asleep, Chigiri doubted you'd awake until much later. He looked down at your unconscious form, pressing a soft kiss against your forehead before standing up. He checked the window to see a white cop car sitting on the other side of the street across from your house.
How could they suspect you of all people?
He vaguely wondered if this was happening to Reo since he had been a part of this as well, but doubted it. Everyone knew about Reo's sway over the police. Chigiri wholeheartedly believed that if Reo killed someone in broad daylight, the most he'd see would be a holding cell before he was released. He vaguely thought about contacting Reo to get him to tell the cops to lay off, but he didn't want him or Nagi anywhere near you. He sat back down on the bed, holding you close to him as he scrolled through his phone. The news about Isagi was everywhere, and he made a mental note to keep your phone from you while you were grieving. He felt you shift on top of him and he looked down at you, memories of you moaning underneath him flashing in his mind.
He picked up one of your hands and placed it against his cheek and inhaled deeply before sliding it down to wrap around his neck. You were so warm. He could only imagine the blissful feeling of you controlling him, giving him permission to breathe. growing tight and reluctantly dropped your hand.
No, he wouldn't take advantage of you like that. He wanted you to be awake, to be lucid enough to take control of him.
"After all this is over, you'll reward me for doing such a good job taking care of you, isn't that right, Y/n?" He whispered as he sank down, exhaustion from staying up all night worrying over you finally catching up to him as he held you close. He supposed he deserved a small nap.

Chigiri took care of you for the next few days, but while you weren't bursting into tears as after as you were, he didn't see any improvement in your mental health. He began searching for ways to cheer you up, looking for activities to bring you back to your former self. He looked up ways to help grieving partners and people with depression, but none of them seemed like you.
"Good morning, Y/n!" Like every day, he woke you up with a homemade breakfast, but it was only different this time.
"I made French toast this morning," he said. "I tried to follow your grandfather's recipe, but-" he stopped. He always picked out your clothes, but it was only when he noticed a pile of bags in your corner that he got an idea. He smiled.
"Let's see..." he muttered. "Wanna come over here and help me find something nice for you to wear?" You looked up at him. "Something cute ?" You repeated, and Chigiri nodded, already taking out a
pink shirt that he thought would look nice on you.
"We're going to the town square." Chigiri mentally thanked Isagi. If it hadn't been for the raven telling him about what happened when the two of you went shopping for your formal outfits, and he had happened to mention how much you loved going shopping. Of course, Chigiri wouldn't just take you shopping. He intended to take you on a walk in the park and take you to lunch. He wanted to keep you out of the house for as much as possible.
He frowned slightly as he watched you pick out your clothing. Despite how much you slept, there were dark bags under your eyes, and you were growing pale from the lack of sun. No matter. Chigiri wouldn't let anything deter him from restoring you to your former self.

"Didn't quite plan for it to be cloudy today," Chigiri muttered as the two of you left the house. He made it a point to walk closest to the road, not only because it was the right thing to do, but he also wanted to shield his gaze from the car parked on the other side of the road. Even through the tinted windows, Chigiri could feel his gaze on him, and if nothing else he wanted to block it from reaching you.
"So, before we go to the square, would you want to go on a walk with me?" Chigiri asked, keeping his voice cheerful even as your depressed demeanor didn't change. "It feels like I've been trapped in that house forever. We should stretch our legs a bit, hm?" You nodded, and Chigiri smiled, wrapping an arm around you and leading you onward.
The town park was one of its pride and joys. While it was a place where some small performances and get together were held it was best known as the place where you could go to escape the loud sounds of motors and music, and just enjoy the sound of nature.
"Even the dreary weather couldn't take the beauty away from this place, huh, Y/n?" Chigiri asked as the two of you walked down the dirt path. The trees were so thick that it was almost impossible to see the sky above, and despite the darkness that it cast, you remembered walking down these paths with your parents or your grandfather and most of all Isagi, and remembered how the suns light from behind the leaves would cast a green light over you, the path and the flowers below, making it look almost magical.
"Funny...isn't it?" You muttered, and Chigiri perked up at the sound of your voice saying anything other than words of agreement. "What do you mean?" He asked quickly, sounding almost frantic. "
I
used to come here with Isagi when we were kids...It always looked like something out of a fantasy..." You kneeled down in front of a wilted flower. "He would make me flower crowns out of these...It's funny how now that he's gone, this place lost its magic." Chigiri frowned, quickly pulling you to your feet.
"That's not true, Y/n," he said as he pushed you to continue walking. "I know he's gone, but that doesn't mean you have to lose yourself too." You lowered your head, and Chigiri decided that perhaps the park wasn'tt t the best place after all.
As the two of you walked to the town square, you noticed a group of people standing outside the nearby police station.
"Protect our children!" They chanted and as you and Chigiri got closer, you could hear more of what was going on.
"One dead and three students missing and nothing happens?" One of the people shouted.
"We pay good money for them to go to that school and they can't even guarantee their safety!" "
And worst of all, you're not doing anything about it!" There were a few officers trying to calm them down but you saw most of the force was inside staring at them through the window.
Were they talking about Namikaze High?
As you reached closer to the mob, Chigiri was about to suggest you walked on the other side of the street, but one of the leaders of the group had already spotted you from the brick he was standing on to yell across the crowd. "
Look !" He pointed to the two of you, and you shifted nervously, backing behind Chigiri as all eyes were suddenly on you. "You two! You go to Namikaze High, right?" Chigiri glanced at you before turning to them
. do," he confirmed, but he wished he had just lied when he saw the whole crowd coming to surround you.
"Tell these cops here, how unsafe that school is," the leader said, motioning to the cop that was doing his best to calm everyone down. He looked stressed, eyes frantic and panicked making you wonder how long he had been on this job.
"We don't-"
"Those missing girls, do you know what happened to them?" One of the parents called and you turned to see one of them holding a sign. You felt the breath leave your lungs as you recognized Mai's face and the others must have been her friends.
They had gone missing?
"You have to know something about them!" Another person called, and you felt a hand touch your shoulder, pushing you forward. "Come on. Now's the time to say something before you end up next! "
"Wait, you're Chigiri Hyoma from the soccer team!" At someone else's recognition, it was like the crowds' intensity grew. "Yoichi Isagi was your teammate!" They called. "Don't you wanna get justice for him ?!"
"Stand up and say something!"
"Get your hands off them right now before I charge everyone here with assault on minors!" A booming voice echoed through the crowd, and you turned to see a male standing there. You recognized him as one of your grandfathers' many friends. He was also chief of police.
"Hey, Y/n, you're grandfather told me you'd be back in town," he greeted, the crowd backing away as he approached you two. "Sorry, we had to meet like this "You were still shaken up, trembling hands feeling cold against Chigiri's own.
"II uh...it's a-alright-" You stuttered, eyes far off and voice weak. The chief frowned sadly, turning to Chigiri.
"Take her home, kid," he said and Chigiri nodded, wrapping his jacket around your shoulders as he led you away from the crowd.
