Also sorry pt. 2 took so long!!

Rae slowly opened her eyes, but quickly shut them again when they started to burn a little from the bright morning sun. She lifted her hands to her face and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes.

"Morning." (y/n) spoke. Rae looked over and saw her leaning against the railing of the tower.

"Morning." Rae mumbled slowly sitting up. "Why didn't you wake me up? I could've kept watch too."

"I know, but you seemed pretty tired so I just let you sleep." (y/n) shrugged.

"Thanks." Rae sent her a smile.

(y/n) nodded, "Are you hungry?"

"A little." Rae answered. (y/n) pulled two apples out of her bag, and handed one to Rae.

"This is all I have right now, but we'll get more when we get back to the house." (y/n) said. They both quickly ate their breakfast before climbing down the watch tower, and starting their journey to (y/n)'s house.

"So is it just you, Corpse, and Emma?" Rae asked breaking the silence between them.

"Yeah, we've all been friends since before this started." (y/n) answered. "All of our other family and friends have died."

"I'm sorry. I know how you feel." Rae grabbed her hand. "All my family has died too."

"I'm sorry." (y/n) gave her sad smile.

"Do you think this will ever end?" Rae asked. "Do you think maybe one day the world will be able to go back to normal?"

"I don't know." (y/n) admitted. "I would like it to, but if I'm being honest I don't have much hope."

"Why not?" Rae questioned.

"It just feels like we've hit rock bottom, and we'll probably be here forever. I mean how would we even go back to normal, you know?" (y/n) shrugged. "Almost all of the population is gone."

"But you don't have any hope? You don't think a miracle could happen?" Rae continued.

"I try not to get my hopes up, so I don't get disappointed in the end. I don't have any crazy expectations because I know it most likely won't end how I'd like it to." (y/n) said. Rae watched her with sad eyes. (y/n) noticed the change in the mood and cleared her throat. "Sorry."

"No, it's fine. I wanted to know." Rae shook her head. (y/n) stopped abruptly and pulled Rae closer to her.

"Wh-" Rae started, but (y/n) placed a finger to her lips telling her to be quiet. She followed (y/n)'s gaze and saw three zombies slowly walking along the street.

"Follow me." (y/n) whispered. She pulled Rae with her behind a bridge and they stood in silence. Rae looked up at (y/n) seeing they were inches apart.

Once the walkers had passed they both let out the breaths they were holding.

"Sorry." (y/n) mumbled moving away after she noticed how close they were.

The two had arrived to the safe house after about 30 minutes. Emma immediately ran up to (y/n).

"Thank god you're okay!" Emma exclaimed wrapping her in a hug. "I thought you fucking died."

"It's gonna take a bit more to kill me." (y/n) joked.

"Are you okay?" Emma asked turning to Rae.

"Yeah, I'm good." Rae nodded.

"Well, you should probably go talk to Corpse. He's really worried." Emma said giving her attention back to (y/n).

"I will." (y/n) nodded. "You can stay in my room, Rae. Emma can you show her?" Emma nodded waving for Rae to follow her.

(y/n) walked into kitchen seeing Corpse at the kitchen table with Sykkuno and Leslie. When Corpse saw her, he immediately jumped up from his chair and pulled her into his arms.

"Why the fuck did you run off like that? You could've died." Corpse exclaimed.

"I know. I'm sorry, but I couldn't let Rae run off on her own." (y/n) said.

"Speaking of Rae, is she alright?" Sykkuno asked.

"Yeah, she's fine. She went up to my room with Emma." y/n said.

"I'm gonna go see her." Leslie said standing up and walking away.

"Me too." Sykkuno said following after her.

"You like tired as fuck." Corpse said with a small smirk.

"Thanks." (y/n) laughed.

I didn't know how to end this. Also sorry it took so long.
