GRACE WALKS DOWN THE BALCONY IN THE COMPOUND, heading towards Klaus who was leant against the railing. He was looking out over the courtyard, so he didn't see her coming until she was stood next to him. He glanced to the side, smiling lightly as he meets her eyes. "Morning, love." He says softly as he turns to face the blonde. Grace looked like she was on a mission though as she just stared back at him.
"I need you to promise me that you won't tell anyone about last night." Grace tells him as she appreciated him being there for her last night and allowing her to break down but she didn't need the entire world knowing. What she liked most is that he didn't really talk, he had just comforted her for most of it. Which was what she needed the most and he seemed to know that for some reason.
"It'll be our little secret." Klaus replies with aย a smirk playing on his lips as he brings his finger to his lips. Grace clenches her jaw, glancing around to make sure that no one was listening in on their conversation.
"I'm serious." She says as her voice was more stern this time. Grace needed him to actually hear her. "I don't need Hayley worrying more than she already does." Grace admits with a sigh as she brushes her hand with her hair. Hayley already asked a million questions every single day, she didn't need to add more fuel.
"I assume you are referring to your ex boyfriend." Klaus says, although that was only a small part of what she had told him last night. Grace bites her tongue as she squints her eyes at him.
"Dead ex boyfriend." She reminds him and Klaus only raises his hands in defence. He would not spill her secret if she didn't want him to. Even though, he didn't think it was that big of a deal. It was one person. She didn't go into much specific detail about why she did it or how, but Klaus knew that Grace wouldn't just kill someone for no reason. Even with the fact that Dylan tried to touch Hayley, there was definitely something that actually set her off in the moment of his death.
"Don't worry, I won't mention it. Not like anyone would actually listen to me anyways." Klaus teases as he shrugs his shoulders, knowing that most people in the quarter loathed him. Even the girl standing in front of him.
"Klaus." She says firmly as she didn't need him joking around right now. Grace just needed him to promise her.ย "Please. Don't tell anyone." She says, her voice more desperate as she stares at him. Klaus sighs, nodding his head before taking a step closer to her.
"Tell anyone what, love?" Klaus asks as he leans down towards her. Grace just stared at him like he was the stupidest person in the world, which right now, in her mind he was.
"Cute." She tells him with a roll of her eyes before settling her arms against her chest. Klaus smiles before he actually becomes serious about the conversation.
"Between us though, if I ever saw your excuse of a father, I'd rip out his spleen and make him eat it." Klaus tells her, and Grace knew he was actually telling the truth because he had the same glint in his eyes that he got when he murdered other people. She knew that he really would do it if she asked him. And maybe she would need that one day.
"And Id watch. Rather happily Infact." Grace states as she nods her head. She smiles at him and Klaus returns it before he takes a step closer to her.
"Say the word and I'll do it." He tells her as he lifts his hand up to brush her hair out of her face. Grace looks at his hand curiously before pressing her lips together tightly. Klaus brings his hand down, clearing his throat.
"Maybe you're not so bad after all." She admits as he glanced down at the ground. Klaus raises an eyebrow at her, a smirk making its way onto his face.
"Is this friendship I'm sensing?" He asks as he leans against the pillar next to him. Grace immediately glares at him, her face turning into one of disgust.
"Well, when you say it like that, I wanna kill myself." Grace retorts bluntly as she rolls her eyes. Klaus chuckles lightly, but he did truly want to have a friendship with the woman one day. Maybe she would one day, not be repulsed by the idea of him. "Mutual alliance." She corrects him as she places her hands on her hips. Klaus nods his head, glancing at the floor for a moment before meeting her eyes.
"I'll take it." Klaus responds and Grace just gives a tight smile as she brings her hand up to rub the back of her neck.
"Im gonna go find Hayley." She tells him as she clasps her hands together and Klaus nods his head, offering a small smile.
"Okay, love." Klaus replies as he watches her walk away. He lets out a sigh as he casts his eyes towards the ground. He shakes his head, turning the other way and beginning to walk down the hall.
"GRACE, I NEED TO TALK TO YOU." Hayley says as she walks into the living room, seeing the girl sitting on the couch. Grace glances up from her phone, furrowing her eyebrows as she tilts her head. She saw the worried look on Hayleys face so she knew it was somewhat serious.
"About what, sugar?" Grace asks her as she sits up straight, placing her phone down beside her. Hayley sighs as she makes her way over to her, taking a seat beside the blonde. Grace only looks at her, concern in her eyes.
"I did something and.. I don't know if you will be okay with it." Hayley admits as she closes her eyes for a moment, not wanting Grace to get mad at her but she knew it was inevitable. Grace nods her head but she was beginning to get nervous as if Hayley knew she wouldn't be okay with it, then why do whatever she did in the first place?
"Okay, what did you do?" She questions slowly as she leans forward, resting her elbows on her knees. Grace was letting her eyes wander the room when they settled on the drawing of Celeste that was still there.
A thought hit her. The magic from the harvest didn't just disappear and Papa Tunde had come back from the dead, according to the originals. So, obviously someone had stolen that power. Someone who had a vendetta against someone in New Orleans. Maybe even more specifically, an original.
"I know I should've asked before but she contacted me--" Hayley starts to say until she notices that Grace had gotten up and had wandered over to the other side of the room. "What are you doing?" She asks curiously as she really needed to talk to her but it seemed like her mind was elsewhere.
"Papa Tunde is dead, right?" Grace questions as she heard something about it this morning.
"Yeah, he was set in the quarter this morning, why?" Hayley asks as she gets up from the couch, walking over to her.
"He's from their past, right?" Grace asks as she didn't really keep up with all the stories they tell her. She really liked to stay in the present and not think of the past, especially not something from a century ago.
"I think the 1920s or a little before that.." Hayley says with furrowed eyebrows as she couldn't really remember either. Grace sighs as she stops in front of the drawing that was till laid out.
"What if he wasn't the only dead witch brought back." Grace suggests and Hayley looks at her before following where her gaze was.
"Celeste." She sighs out and Grace nods her head. "It makes sense. Davina was drawing her to warn us." Hayley points out as why else would Davina spend so much time drawing Celeste? There had to be a reason.
"Grab it." Grace says as she grabs one side and Hayley grabs the other. They walk onto the balcony, hearing the originals and Marcel having a conversation down the stairs.
"This is how we're gonna get Davina back. Kill the witch who took her place." Marcel states as he knew that was the only way. Monique Devereux had magically came back to life this morning after Papa Tunde died. It gave Marcel hope that they could also get Davina back.
"We have a theory about who one of them could be." Hayley announces making everyone glance up at them, both curiously and confused. "Celeste. I mean it's gotta be." She states and Grace nods her head in agreement.
"Remember the joke I made about her being the one to cause everything? Not a joke anymore." She explains to them as she was completely fed up with this world already. Never once did she think they would have to be afraid of people who were dead.
"Davina was trying to tell us. She was drawing pictures of Celeste. She was warning us that a great evil was coming." Hayley tells them and Klaus only clenches his jaw as he turns his gaze to elijah.
"First, papa Tunde returns to settle old scores. Now your murdered lover is back." He states with a scoff before shaking his head. "This isnt witches attacking vampires." Klaus says, making everyone look at him but they already knew what was happening.
"They're declaring war on us."

REBEKAH WALKED INTO THE COURTYARD AS SHE NOTICED THAT ELIJAH AND KLAUS WERE TALKING. She wanted to ask Klaus something and she knew that it was the perfect time since she knew Elijah would also start to ask questions. She moves over to them, stopping beside them and placing her hand on her hip. Klaus glanced at her curiously, raising an eyebrow.
"Nik, why were you in Grace's room last night?" Rebekah asks as she gives him a small smirk although she really wanted to know why he would be with Grace.
"What?" Klaus questions, trying to get our of the question by pretending he didn't know what she was talking about. But Rebekah only rolls her eyes.
"You were in there for quite a while."ย Rebekah states as she had seen him enter and not come out for an hour. She was curious as to what could've taken an hour to do.
"Nothing you need to be concerned about." He replies with a sigh as he was never going to tell them what Grace trusted him with. He knew it wasn't his place to say anything.
"And why shouldn't I be concerned?" Rebekah questions, crossing her arms against her chest. Klaus only scoffs, rolling his eyes.
"Because it's none of your business." Klaus tells her with a stern voice.
"Rebekah, Niklaus isn't one to talk about his love life." Elijah says in a teasing tone as he smirks at his brother. Klaus just glares at him, rolling his eyes as he brings his hand up to his head.
"It was not-" Klaus cuts himself off as he lets out a frustrated sigh, noticing the way his siblings were looking at him. "She just needed someone to talk to." He tells them and that just confused Rebekah even more because she didn't believe that Grace would ever willingly talk to Klaus, not even if the world was ending and they were the last two people on earth.
"But she hates you." Rebekah states as she places a hand on her hip. Klaus glares at his sister for a moment.
"Actually, sister. We've grown an alliance." Klaus responds and this just baffles Rebekah even more. She got suspicious, squinting her eyes at him.
"Did you compel her?" She asks and Klaus was offended that she would even ask that. He would never compel Grace. Mainly because he knew she would make him suffer if she even found out.
"Do you want a dagger in your heart?" Klaus questions her and Rebekah just rolls her eyes before someone catches her eye over his shoulder.
"Excuse me?" An older blonde woman asks but she still looked good for her age, even though she couldn't be more than forty five.
"Can we help you?" Rebekah asks as she moves past her brothers who had both turned at the sound of the voice.
"Uh, maybe." The woman starts as she glanced around before resting her eyes on the blonde woman in front of her. "This woman in the bar told me I'd find her here." She says as she clasps her hands together but Rebekah only stared at her confused. "I'm looking for Grace... I guess she goes by Marshall now." Ann states and Rebekah just squints her eyes, already becoming suspicious of the woman.
"And why are you looking for Grace?" She asks, an accusatory tone as she crosses her arms against her chest.
"I'm her mother." Ann replies and Rebekah's eyes widen as she just stares at her. She glanced back at her brothers and she could see Klaus shaking his head at her. She furrows her eyebrows but Klaus only gives her a silent expression, basically telling her to not mention Grace.
"There is no Grace Marshall here." Rebekah says once she looks back at Ann who lets out a sigh.
"Look, she probably told you--" Ann starts, knowing grace would tell her friends about her in case she ever came looking.
"She didn't tell me anything but I can figure out that if she doesn't talk about her mother, chances are she doesn't want her in her life." Rebekah explains to her, her voice sharp as she glares down at the woman.
"Please, I just want to talk to her." Ann pleads as she glanced around, hoping to catch a glimpse of her daughter. But Rebekah only scoffs as she moves to block the woman's view.
"What you need to do is leave and never come back." Rebekah retorts, staring into the womans eyes, compelling her. Only Ann just stands in front of her, not budging an inch.
"Hayley warned me you might try and do weird mind compulsion on me. She told me to drink this." She admits as she holds up a tiny bottle that was empty. That seemed to shock the siblings as they all stare at the woman like she had said the most bizarre thing.
"Hayley?" Klaus asks and Ann only nods her head. "As in Hayley Marshall?" Maybe there was another Hayley that had reached out to her but that was just wishful thinking. Something that he could never really have for the werewolf.
"Yes." Ann replies with a nod.
"Hayley told you Grace was in New Orleans?" Elijah questions as he was trying to get everything straight. He too didn't believe that Hayley would do such a thing. Even if he didn't know what exactly happened, if Ann was just coming now, and Grace hadnt mentioned her. Clearly something happened between them.
"She was the one that tracked me down." Ann admits and they all just stare at her, more Klaus because he knew how bad that actually was. "I've been trying to find Grace for years now but have had no luck." She says as she puts her hands in her pockets. Ann had searched for her daughter but it seemed impossible since there were a million Grace's and the girl had changed her last name so she couldn't look up any current residences.
"Maybe there's a reason for that." Rebekah says, rather harshly in fact as she takes a step closer to the woman. "Grace isn't here. And even if she was, I would not let her speak with you." She states as she glares at the woman standing in front of her. Ann nods her head, trying to keep her composure.
"I'm sorry for the intrusion." Ann apologizes, glancing at the two men before turning around and heading back out onto the street. Rebekah watches her before turning to her brothers with an astonishing expression.
"What the bloody hell was that about?" She asks as she was mainly looking towards Klaus. Rebekah had honestly hoped that what they talked about was something about her mother.
"I guess the little wolf doesn't know how to mind her own business." Klaus retorts, his voice more hostile as he only shakes his head.
After hearing how Hayley and Grace spoke of each other, he believed that of all people Hayley would be the last person on earth to contact Grace's family. Apparently that was a false claim because if Hayley truly thought of Grace as a sister, she would have never located Ann, not without at least talking with the girl first.
GRACE HAD BEEN SITTING ON ONE OF THE BENCHES ON THE SIDEWALK, just staring up at the clouds. She loved to just sit and watch everything around her. It was calming to her. Plus, she could usually smoke her cigarette in peace and quiet. No one would bother her if she just went on a walk by herself. Of course, not in New Orleans where everyone seemed to be wanted to be in her business.
"Grace." She hears a voice say and Grace glanced over, pulling the cigarette from her lips as she notices Sabine walking over to her. But of course, Grace didn't know that Sabine was actually Celeste.
"Sabine. Hi?" Grace replies, her voice slightly confused as she stares up at the woman who had her hands in her pockets.
"How have you been?" Celeste asks her as she stands in front of the blonde who only pokes the inside of her cheek with her tongue.
"Good.. I guess." She tells the witch, glancing around for a moment. "I'm sorry, why are you talking to me?" Grace asks, being straight forward because she really didn't have time for any polite conversation.
"I just wanted to make sure that the spell went okay." Celeste says as she sits beside the girl. Grace only glances at her confused, not knowing what the hell she was talking about.
"What spell?" She asks as she stares at Sabine who only hesitates.
"The one Hayley asked me to perform last week in order to locate an Ann Sullivan." Celeste tells her and Grace's whole body freezes. Her mind went numb for a moment when she heard the name. It was the name of her mother. The mother who had let her suffer through her dad's abuse. "She told me the woman was your family?" She adds and Grace just blinks a few times, trying to wrap her head around the whole thing.
"Wait.." Grace trails off, hoping that she was hearing all of this wrong and there was a logical explanation. But that seemed like too much of a stretch. "Hayley asked you to locate Ann?" She asks cautiously and Celeste nods her head.
"Yes." She replies.
"Why?" Grace asks suddenly, wanting to know what kind of bullshit excuse Hayley had given the witch.
"She didn't give a specific reason. Just that she was your family." She answers the girl who only felt her heart be pushed into her chest. She shakes her head, her eyes moving to her hands as they started to shake.
"Why would she do that?" Grace asks, but it was to herself, she knew the witch wouldn't have the answer. Celeste furrows her eyebrows, watching the girls reaction before the realization hit her.
"I'm guessing that this wasn't what you wanted." Celeste says, trailing off for a moment as she was just giving Grace a few seconds to wrap her head around it. "I thought you knew." She admits, she didn't think Hayley meant any harm by it. It was her mother after all.
"I definitely did not know." Grace snaps, she didn't mean to but she couldn't help it with the anger coursing through her veins. Why would Hayley keep something like this from her. And why would she ever think that contacting Ann was a good idea?
"I thought you two were like sisters?" Celeste questions and Grace only scoffs, nodding her head.
"So did I." She mutters as she stares down at the ground. Grace had opened up to Hayley about her past, she knew how hard it was for Grace to open up to people. To trust them. She thought they told each other everything, good, bad and ugly. Maybe it was just Grace who did that.
"Maybe you should head back home. Since Hayley obviously doesn't respect you." Celeste pipes up, making Grace snap her eyes up to the witch, being caught off guard.
"Home?" She asks as she tilts her head and Celeste only raises an eyebrow.
"You're from New York, yes?"ย Celeste questions and Grace just stared at the witch.
"Uh, yeah. I live there." Grace says with furrowed eyebrows as she didn't know how the girl knew that. But she was a witch so maybe there were ways for her to find out.
"The originals are bad news. Theyll just bring you destruction and death." Celeste states, making Grace's eyes widen for a moment. How had they suddenly switched into talking about the originals. "It seems like Hayleys already ruining your life." She points out as having the originals problems on top of that, would just bring heartbreak to Grace's life. "Although, Elijah is the one to trust. Not Klaus." Celeste says, almost to herself but Grace had heard her. "How is Elijah?" She asks curiously and Grace's mouth parts, her eyes squinting.
"Why do you care about Elijah?" Grace asks as she never knew Sabine had an interest in the originals.
"I don't. I'm just curious." Celeste lies as she shrugs her shoulders. "I mean, he's probably the one who's stopped Klaus from killing you." She points out as Klaus never liked people with snarky attitudes, especially if it's directed at him.
"Elijah's fine." Grace says slowly, her voice monotone.
"Just fine?" Celeste questions. Grace really didn't understand where this conversation was even going.
"Elijah isn't always the best original, Sabine." She admits as the man might be noble and all but there were still ways for him to betray people and use their trust.
"He's better than Klaus." Celeste points out, her tone seething with anger. Grace raises her eyebrows as she crosses her arms against her chest.
"Okay, what do you have against Klaus?" She knew a lot of people wanted revenge on the man for some reason. But just a few days ago, she was helping them track where Hayley was.
"Why, I thought you hated him?" Celeste retorts as she herself was a bit confused on why Grace was defending the original, all of a sudden.
"I never hated him, I just disliked him." She corrects as she points her finger at the witch. Grace stares at Sabine for a little while longer, her eyes squinting. She'd never been so curious in elijah before and why would she start asking questions and making it seem like Klaus was the enemy. Unless of course, she was another witch who was using the harvest. "You're not Sabine." Grace says as she backs up a little bit from the witch. She could see the woman's face drop for a moment before she sighs.
"Grace, you do not have to fear me." Celeste assures her as she was not here to hurt her. If she was, the girl would've been dropped when they first started talking.
"Said the witch who has been killing people." Grace says as she scoffs a little bit.
"Vampires. Not people." Celeste corrects her and Grace only sighs, not having the time for this.ย "That was mainly Papa Tunde's doing." She points out and Grace only squints her eyes before licking her bottom lip.
"So, it was you. You caused this whole thing." Grace states as she knew she had made a joke about it, but she never actually believed that Celeste was back from the dead. Maybe she was a psychic or something. But then again, she's trusted way too many people who have let her down.
"I'm going to give you one piece of advice, Grace." Celeste says as she takes a step closer to the blonde who only looks at her confused. "Leave." She states sharply, not wanting Grace to get hurt. "Move far away from the originals as you can, unless you want to be in their crossfire." Celeste tells her but Grace was confused on why she even cared in the first place.
"What are you going to do?" Grace asks her as obviously there was a reason Celeste wanted her to leave. And she didn't exactly think they were going to have a civilized conversation.
"That's a surprise, sweetheart." Celeste replies with a smirk playing on her lips before she sighs. "You're just an innocent bystander in all of this." She states and Grace only furrows her eyebrows.ย "But if you choose to stay, if you get in my way, I'll have no choice." Celeste tells her, staring down at her for a moment longer before turning around and walking away.
Grace is left with a decision to make. Stay and help the originals who she had only known for a few days. Or head back home and just return back to her regular life.
GRACE WALKS INTO THE COMPOUND, her feet dragging along the ground as she took slow steps. She had just been thinking the whole way there. If she could ever really trust anyone. Or if everyone she knew was just going to one day betray her. That seemed to be how it was going so far. She rubs her forehead, brushing her hair out of her face. When she glanced up from the ground, she noticed Rebekah making her way towards her, Elijah and Klaus behind her.
"Oh, thank god." Rebekah mutters as she stops in front of Grace who only furrows her eyebrows. If they told her Hayley was kidnapped or something, Grace would certainly believe in karma. "Where the bloody hell have you been?" She asks as she places her hands on her hips. Grace sighs, shrugging her shoulders.
"I was just wandering around." She says, her voice low and fragile. Grace fiddles with her fingers, not noticing Klaus' worried gaze that he had on her.
"I need to tell you something and you need to promise not to freak out." Rebekah tells her and Grace only meets her eyes. She squints them for a moment, a little bit confused. But with the timing of everything, she knew it was the one thing she didn't want to be true.
"My mom's here." Grace replies softly and Rebekah was a little taken aback, looking at the girl curiously.
"How did you know?" She asks and Grace only scoffs lightly, bringing her gaze down to the ground.
"So, she was telling the truth." Grace says with a sigh as she closes her eyes for a moment. Part of her wanted to believe Celeste was lying but as soon as Rebekah had to tell her something, she knew.
"Who was, Grace?" Elijah asks curiously, not knowing who the blonde was talking about. Grace moves her eyes to Elijah, taking a deep breath as she tried to maintain her composure.
"Your little girlfriend." She replies and Elijah was startled for a moment, his eyebrows furrowing as he glanced at his siblings. "At first I thought she was Sabine, but then she kept asking questions about you." Grace states, she knew it was weird that Sabine would be so interested in Elijah and seem to have a vengeance against Klaus. The girl had to get better at lying, that was one thing Grace knew.
"Celeste." Elijah mutters as he clenches his jaw, turning his gaze away for a minute.
"Did she hurt you--" Klaus starts to ask, anger seeping into his tone as his fists form. If she had even touched one hair, Klaus would make her pay and this time she would stay dead.
"No." Grace answers quickly because she didn't need Klaus going on a rampage.ย "I think part of her actually thought Hayley told me." She says since Celeste had seemed surprised that Grace didn't know about it. "She asked her to locate my mother a week ago." She states. One whole week and Hayley had said nothing about it to her. She didn't care if that's what she wanted to talk about today. She had one week already and she hadn't brought it up once. And it was even when she right got to New Orleans too. So, did Hayley really want her here? Or was her whole plan to bring her to New Orleans and reunite her with the mother she never wanted to see again.
"Your mother came looking for you." Rebekah elaborates as she wanted Grace to at least be on the look out. Ann wasn't just going to stop because they said they wouldn't tell her where Grace was. Grace nods her head, she assumed she would be. Why else would she come to the compound?
"Part of me thought that I could actually trust her." She mutters as she shakes her head, looking down at the ground. Grace kicks at the gravel, feeling her heart plummet. She has never had to worry about Hayley hurting her because for some reason Grace thought it would never happen. But eventually everyone did. She just gave Hayley the benefit of the doubt.
"Hayley?" Rebekah asks as she furrows her eyebrows. Maybe Hayley had done it in her best interest, they didn't know the woman's reasoning until they talked to her. But Grace had told Hayley that all her mother had done was sit back and watch her be abused all of those years. Why on earth would Hayley think bringing her to New Orleans was a good idea?
"Celeste only talked to me, let herself be known because she told me to leave." Grace states which caught the originals a little off guard. They didn't know why Celeste would even talk to her if she wasn't getting something in return. But Celeste knew of the danger of being collateral damage. She didnt want what happened to her, to happen to Grace. "I only came here to protect Hayley, to be here for her." She says as she clenches her jaw, not wanting the tears to brim her eyes. "Turns out, it's really only one sided." She mumbles as she scoffs, walking past the group to head inside. Grace really thought that Hayley would always have her back aswell, only now has she realized that it was all a lie.
"Where are you going?" Elijah asks as his eyes follow her. He can't help but glance towards the girl, his eyes following her every move. He knew how close the two girls were but Grace was obviously trying to keep her emotions down in front of them.
"Back to New York."ย Grace says with a sigh as she turns back to them. Rebekahs eyes widen, her mouth opening to say something but nothing comes out. "There's nothing keeping me here anymore." She admits with a shrug as she glanced around the courtyard. Klaus looks away from Grace, biting the inside of his cheek. Elijah noticed this, his eyes moving to his brother. "Tell Hayley that she can just stay out of my life." Grace says as she didn't know where the girl was but frankly, she couldn't care less. She had multiple people protecting her and she was not going to put her life on hold for a girl who didn't even care about her. "Forever." Her voice was harsh as she turned and left the courtyard. Rebekah turns to her brothers, her face in shock. But they were also quite surprised by what had just happened. But Klaus knew of one thing.
He would never get even the hope of a chance if she left.
