PLOT SUMMARY:

GENEVIVE BISSET, a soprano for the Paris Opera, was what the Les Amis de ABC would typically consider bourgeois. With frilly dresses, lavish parties and upper class friends, Genevive was living a sumptuous lifestyle, that only the richest of French society girls could rival.

But when Genevieve's position as the Opera's resident soprano comes under threat by a new, younger singer, she decides to boycott the theatre directors by spending a night running wild along the streets of Paris.

Whilst on her crusade to drag the Opera's name through the mud, Genevive - quite literally - bumps into the blonde-haired leader of the Les Amis de l'ABC. Enjolras is less than impressed with the upper-class society girl berating him for his lack of spacial awareness. The man tries to shake Genevive off of his trail, but the girl is adamant on following him through the winding Parisian streets, thus leading her directly to the Cafe Musain.

Once at the Cafe, despite Enjolras' protests, the rest of the Les Amis de l'ABC immediately want to recruit the girl, arguing that they could use a high-society girl to gather information on the aristocracy. Genevive immediately agrees to the plan, realising that joining a group of rebellious students would be the ultimate way to tarnish the names of the opera's owners.

Despite his initial reservations, Enjolras eventually allows Genevive to join the group. At first the two constantly bicker back and forth, but after a while the two begin to get along, working together to fight their cause. Soon after, strange feelings begin to arise between the two and the singer and the revolutionary begin to have a new attitude towards life - JOIE DE VIVRE.

CHARACTER TRAITS TO CONSIDER:

     — Genevive is a society girl and a member of the aristocracy. And thus, will take her a while to adjust to live with the Les Amis de l'ABC. This means that she is a fish out of water and won't immediately want to help the poor, as she has been brought up to be ignorant to the suffering of the French.

     — The catalyst for Genevive's departure from the Paris Opera is jealousy. Therefore, this flaw should be a recurring theme throughout the story. She should be jealous and pompous throughout, otherwise her character development won't make sense. In short make sure she is flawed.

     — Genevieve knows she is pretty. She tends to use her charm and good looks as a weapon, making her seemingly untouchable, and then able to get what she wants.

     — In short, Genevieve looks sweet and innocent, but she is extremely flawed.
