CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

Jungkook walks into the living room, handing you the cup of tea after sitting beside you. He didn't know what to do to help calm your nerves after that traumatic experience.
You take a gulp of the tea and he caresses your thigh, "I'm so sorry, Y/N. It–"
"It had to be done." You answer unemotionally, finishing his sentence.
"Yes, but she was still your mom. You grew up with her and you loved her."
"She made her choice. Now I have to make mine."
Jungkook looks at you with a confused look on his face. He wasn't sure what you meant by that.
"Y/N," Poseidon jogs into the living room.
You stand up and he hugs you, holding you tightly.
"I'm so glad you're okay."
"But my mom," You whisper. "She isn't."
Poseidon closes his eyes and sighs. He kisses your forehead before pulling away.
"It was for the better." He tries to encourage.
"Doesn't mean it was easy."
The whole room is swallowed by silence after your words were said. No one knew what to say. What they did know was that the threat had finally been defeated.
The others walk into the living room, Jimin's body looking as if it had been dipped into a green slime-like substance.
"What happened to you?" Jungkook questioned.
"Euryale swallowed me whole then threw me up," Jimin responds, no trace of disgust in his expression.
"He reeks," Jin holds his nose. "Like bad."
"Thanks, hyung." He answers, walking out of the room to take a long, nice shower.

"Thank you, Jungkook."
"For what?" He looks down at you.
"For everything. For even just being here and holding me, trying to make me feel better."
"Of course," He smiles warmly. "I love you, Y/N. I'd do anything for you to be happy. Anything."
You fake a smile for him and he kisses your forehead.
—
"It's open!"
You push the door to Poseidon's office open and walk in, closing it behind you.
"Hey, Y/N." He greets as you walk towards him and sit on the chair across from him. "Is everything okay?"
"Actually no. Nothing's okay. Which is why I'm here," Poseidon looks at you attentively. "When I agreed to help you defeat this darkness I told you I wanted to forget everything about this place, remember?"
He nods.
"I don't want to forget everything anymore. I only want to forget losing my mother."
Poseidon sighs, "I'm sorry, but that's not how it works here. Either you forget everything or nothing."
You hated that that was the answer to your problem—that you had to forget everything in order to not remember anything about your mother's death.
You thought it was crazy, but what you thought was crazier was that you took the offer.
"Can you give me until tonight? I still need to tell Jungkook what I plan to do."
"Of course," Poseidon smiles weakly. "This is going to suck, you know that? But this is something you need, so I'm okay with doing it."
"Will I ever see you again?"
"Maybe someday. I hope."

The news slipped out easily from your mouth. The same words that got you and Jungkook into an argument.
He kept calling you selfish, but both of you were. You because you wanted to leave not even considering anyone's feelings but yours and Jungkook because he wanted you to stay not keeping how horrible you felt in mind.
"What about me?!" Jungkook shouts. "You said you loved me!"
"I do!" You sob. "But I don't want to live this life. I don't want to remember my mother's merciless death and every bad thing that has happened... so please, please, don't make me choose."
"Then I won't." Jungkook storms out of the room and you run your hands through your hair in anger.
You weren't angry at him for not accepting your decision. You were angry at yourself because even if your love for him was strong, the want of you never remembering this place was stronger.
You sit on the divan in the corner of your room and bawl your eyes out. You were so mixed with emotions and you hated feeling like this.

As you said goodbye to everyone, the boys kept telling you they were on your side. That they thought what you were doing was the right thing. That sometimes you have to be a little bit selfish so you won't suffer any longer.
Poseidon opens up the portal and you stand in front of it with him beside you.
"Are you sure you want to do this, Y/N?" Poseidon asks for reassurance.
You look over at Jungkook and make eye contact for a few seconds, but then he looks away. You swallow harshly and blink away your tears. You turn back to your father.
"Yes," You nod. "I'm sure."
"I hope you live a happy life, Y/N. I'll always be watching over you and if you ever need me, you'll know what to do. Your heart will tell you."
You smile at him and he pulls you into a hug. Once you pull away you look over at the Twelve Olympians and the boys.
"The time I've been here has been, for the most part, fun. I got to meet every single one of you and you're all amazing people. All of you have always been kind and helpful and I appreciate that," You struggle to keep your tears in, but they end up falling down your cheeks. "I may forget you all from my memories, but I will always have you in my heart."
Everyone smiles and the room is filled with I love you's, good lucks, and farewells. You turn back around towards the portal, but Jungkook calls for you.
"Y/N!" You turn to him.
He runs up to you and pulls you into a passionate kiss.
"I love you," He whispers after pulling away. "I always will and one day we will meet again."
"I love you more." You say before crashing your lips into his again.
Once Jungkook pulls away, he backs up to give you space. You turn back to the portal and take in a deep breath.
Your right foot steps through before your whole body follows. As soon as you're back into your world, the portal closes and you blackout.
