Vanilla (Korean 바닐라; often stylised as VAN:LLA) is a South Korean girl group formed by HWANGSA Entertainment and PNATION Entertainment consisting of twelve members, Somin, Miao, Seuli, Jena, Hana, Sara, Haemi, Hua, Lily, Himari, Chaejin and Sophie. The group debuted on August 6, 2020, with the release of their album prologue.

Pre-debut

Members Seuli, Sophia and Hua were in a small web drama.

Members Himari and Lily participated in PRODUCE 48, Himari ending up in 31st place and Lily ending up in 26th place.

Miao, Seuli, Lily, Chaejin and Sophie (GRAPE) were meant to debut early 2018 as a group, but the company cancelled it and instead made them a sub-unit in VANILLA.

2020: Debut with Prologue

On July 26, HWANGSA and PNATION announced that they would be debuting a new girl group, since the debut of PSY, HyunA and Dawn, the label's official channel uploaded a video trailer revealing the twelve members.

On August 5, the group released their debut album, prologue, with its lead single "fiesta". The song is an EDM track so sitting soothing yet passionate beat and chorus. The group scores one of the biggest Billboard debuts for a K pop act, the song "fiesta" entered at No.4 and peaked No.3 on the Eorld Digital Sing Sales chart.

Billboard confirmed that the music video surpassed 7,6 million views within 24 hours of its release.
