Chapter 78
"I thought it wasn't worth telling you everything. I know for well where you saw me. But, after everything, after I saw that the girl I liked was cheating on me..gosh, how could I ever think I would hate you ?"
I stared up at him in confusion.
Then, before I knew it, I was starting to slowly remember everything.
Flashback :
6 Years Ago :
"Remember girls, fit in and talk to the guests we're having tomorrow. Treat them nicely."
The teacher spoke in an enthusiastic voice, seeing the girls' smiling reactions. Of course, they weren't enthusiastic about having guests the very next day. They were enthusiastic about having a party that would last for 3 hours straight.
I didn't seem to care, however, but couldn't help but smile a little as well.
The next day, all of us came prepared with a ton of snacks. All except me, mostly because my mum told me to just think of it as a usual party. I couldn't care less to find out the identity of the people who were going to 'honor' us with their existence that day. Hanin, however, came to school with jeans on, hoping to look 'presentable' at the party, which was apparently a big deal, and nobody told me why.
As the clock ticked forward to 10:30 AM, the bell rang, announcing the break time. I ate my lunch quietly as my friends talked to each other about random things.
They didn't bother to ask for my opinion. But I didn't care, mostly because I was uninterested about this whole thing. The break time was over after long, thirty minutes, and we stood in lines, waiting for Sister Simone to speak. She said something about welcoming our fellow students from St. Joseph's orphanage, but I wasn't listening. I was growing rather uncomfortable as I noticed the boy who stood in the corner with his classmates.
He was about a year older or so, with dark hair, white skin, and deep dark eyes.
He was staring at me, with eyes full of shyness and passion.
He didn't look Egyptian, for all I knew. But of course, my 7-year-old mind wasn't thinking of that at that exact moment. I heard a girl from 3B chuckling and smiling slightly.
I turned my eyesight to the direction of the giggle, then realized that it was Mariam.
She thought that the boy was looking at her, and she chuckled slightly. Girls looked at her in disgust, rolling their eyes.
Bitches.
The music began playing, and the boys from the orphanage quickly started to fit in with the rest of the girls. The boy started to walk towards me, smiling slightly. But he was stopped by other girls, including Mariam.
I don't blame them though. He was the cutest of the bunch.
Halfway through the party, the boy got the chance to talk to me once or twice. He told me his name was Anthony, and he was from German decent. But he has been living in Egypt for a short while.
However, as I kept on remembering the blocked memories, Anthony began to explain what I didn't know.
And I couldn't have been more shocked.
To Be Continued..
