Chapter 74
I didn't move.
My chest heaved up and down from the inability to breathe. I stared confidently at the terrorists, trying to hear what they were saying.
"Move away, stupid girl ! Let me have revenge !"
He called out in a strong Arabic accent.
"No ! If you want to hurt him, you have to get past me first !"
I yelled back in Arabic. I saw him preparing the rifle, ready to shoot at any moment now.
"Adelle, move away, please, they want me.."
Barron spoke softly, but I frantically ignored him, shaking my head slightly.
I began to do something I haven't done in a while.
I began to read a piece of Quran, out loud. Enough for the terrorists to hear.
My throat became sore by every word I said, and my lungs screamed at me to stop and take a breath of air. My chest began to heave up and down more, and I began to let out small gasps between each sentence.
I couldn't breathe. I was sure that all that was keeping me talking alright were the gasps I formed between words. I was also sure that they noticed that I couldn't breathe. All of them.
My chest began to ache from lack of oxygen. I, however, continued to say the piece of Quran proudly and confidently. And the only thing I noticed was the terrorist's shocked reaction.
"Adelle, breathe."
Melania ordered, but I also ignored her. My little trick was working after all.
It wasn't long before the rifle fell to the ground. The terrorist kept muttering something in shock, which I didn't quite hear.
"You.."
But the scene was interrupted by police officers, who broke into the lawn and began to cuff the three terrorists.
I began to take a few, grateful breaths, knowing that we were now safe.
I turned around to see Barron's shocked face. He engulfed me in tight, grateful hug.
"Oh my God, you saved my life."
I could feel Melania walking closer to our side, barely touching her son's shoulder, not wanting to interrupt our moment.
Barron allowed a few small tears to stream down his face. Tears of gratefulness and shock.
I rubbed his back gently, giving him a small peck on his cheek.
"Thank you, so much."
He spoke softly.
"You're always welcome, sweetheart."
I replied, hugging him tighter.
I could feel Donald by our side, patting his son on the back gently. We let go after a few moments, then Melania stepped closer, and gave me a brief hug.
"Come on, let's get inside."
Donald spoke, and we obeyed. We entered the White House, and sat in a big, modern living room. It had less furniture than I had imagined, but had a black, leather couch in the middle, with two leather armchairs across from it.
Me and Barron sat on the leather couch, still holding each other's hands. Melania and Donald sat on the two armchairs, and looked up at us.
"Now, tell us everything."
To Be Continued..
