Reign's p.o.v

I spent my Sunday's in the library, just minding my own business with my hands delicately tracing page after page of the book I found myself engrossed in.

I've always loved the smell of books and I'm not quite sure why, perhaps they smelt like an adventure awaiting to happen. I had been reading for hours when suddenly I felt a pair of eyes on me.

I peeped over the horizon of my novel only to see a hot red flag staring at me. It was none other than Riftyn, a reclusive bad boy and midfielder for our schools soccer team. I looked around to make sure he was indeed looking at me and that's when he smiled....and I knew he was trouble personified. The intense gaze between us turned into a stare contest until I got bored.

"What."

I said whilst giving him an annoyed look which had no effect on him as he continued to smile. I was just about to go over and give him a piece of my mind when my best friends Lorelei and Micaela ambushed me in a hug.

I looked back in his direction and realised he had disappeared, seriously what the fuck?

"Reign, why the hell are you hiding out in the library?"

Lorelei looks at me with confusion plastered on her face. I love my best friend but I don't think this girl has ever even picked up a novel from these shelves.

"Because I was in no mood to see couples sucking each other's faces, gifting one another roses and chocolates and seeing a sea of red like fashion had its period or something. If I see one more couple I'm going to shoot someone and you girls will have to bail me out."

"I know right, but if it wasn't for the pact I would've gotten myself a fling." Lorelei laughed

"What? A fling? Why are you always obsessing about boys? You even have a poster of Jason Mamoa in your locker."

"Trust me you don't want to know the real answer, and come on Jason Mamoa is all man." Micaela finally chipped in laughing and wriggling her eyebrows

"Eww." I made a face of disgust while my two best friends laughed.

"Well as your self-proclaimed Valentines dates, we are here to take you away."

"Where to? Bora-Bora? Oh no perhaps Santorini?" Sarcasm dripped off each word leaving my mouth

They gave me that weird look thing they always do

"I hate it when you two do that."

"Do what?" They say in unison before a smirk appears on their faces.

"We're taking you to the carnival."

"The what? When did the carnival get in town?"

"Please Reign, I know what you're going to say but come with us and we'll do anything you want."

"No Micaela."

"How about next weekend we go with you to that NASA thing you keep talking about?" Lorelei bargained.

"You mean tour the NASA control centre?" I've been begging them for weeks to accompany me.

"That's what I said silly."

"Fine."

"Let the good times roll." Micaela screams causing the librarian to shhhsh us.

We get to the car and immediately Lorelei starts playing 'Driver's license'

"Seriously of all the songs you choose this?"

"Hey it explains our non-existent love lives." Micaela laughs as she switches gears."

"Our love lives are non-existent because a) Lorelei falls in love with jerks whose egos are bigger than their dicks, b) because you have an impossible checklist that guys have to meet and c) because well I prefer prince charming from the books."

"Reign." The girls roll their eyes at me.

"If this is what comes out of your mouth, I'd be terrified to hear what's on your mind.

The car ride was short, oh who am I kidding it felt like hours listening to my best friends singing loudly along to songs I didn't like.

Finally we made it to the carnival. The laughter of children and scream of adults flooded the atmosphere and all I could think of was getting my hands on some carnival food.

End of p.o.v

After hours of going on rides, gauging on snacks and winning giant teddy bears, the girls came across a psychic booth. Lorelei and Micaela gave each other a knowing look before turning to Reign with pleading eyes.

"Let's go in there." Lori said smiling while Mica nodded behind her.

"Look guys, I love you two but I'm not going in there, I don't believe in all that psychic, voodoo magic shit okay. Science is real and proven, this is all one big scam."

"Okay but who said it has to be real? Let's just go in and have some fun."

"I swear I hate you guys. Miss Calypso? Greek mythology would be ashamed."

"Please."

"Fine, the things I do for you two."

The friends walked into the booth and a sudden gust of wind sent shivers down their spine.

"Oh look, someone must off put the air con on. What's next? Is she going to say she was expecting us?"

The girls took a seat while awaiting Miss Calypso's presence. Once she had made herself known, Reign couldn't control herself from going off.

"Seriously a crystal ball is going to show me my future? Listen lady I don't mean to be rude but this is all bullshit and don't think for a moment you can fool me. I just came here to make my friends happy so can we get this over and done with."

Miss Calypso did not waste her breathe, instead she shuffled her deck of cards and laid three out in front of the girls.

"The hanged man means changed thinking, the lovers brings a new relationship and the hermit means you will start introspecting your life."

"Seriously are we paying 15 dollars for this crap? I'm out of here." Reign stormed out leaving her friends apologising to the psychic before chasing after her.

"Reign you really don't need to be a bitch all the time."

The girls hadn't finished talking when all of a sudden they noticed smoke coming out of the booth they had just left. A weird sensation fell upon them causing the girls to experience a sort of high.

Only Reign appeared to be partially in touch with reality and that's when she saw Miss Calypso emerging from the smoke staring at her with ferocity until everything cleared and was back to normal.

"Woah what was that?"

"Maybe we ate a bad hotdog or something."

"I feel strange guys."

"When do you ever feel or act normal?" Lori exclaimed angrily at her friend.

"Let's just go." Micaela said whilst walking away.

"Finally, I didn't want to come here in the first place."

As she began to follow her friends, something told Reign to look back at the psychic booth and that's when she saw Miss Calypso again mouthing something to her that she couldn't quite make out. Annoyed, Reign showed the psychic her middle finger before trailing of.

The car ride home was awkward as the girls refused to talk to one another. Reign knew she was in the wrong and had to do what was right.

"I'm sorry girls. I know sometimes I can be a little rough around the edges......

"And a know it all."

"Yes and a know it all, but I really did have fun today so thanks for dragging out of the library. I love you guys."

"We love you too." Micaela mockingly said.

"Plus without you our trio would be oh my god just two people." Lori added and the group erupted with laughter.

The next morning

Reign wakes up in her bed and lets out a loud yawn. It was 6am and she did not have enough energy to get her day started.

After all, instead of going to their homes after the carnival, the girls all squashed up on Reigns couch and watched movies late into the night and Mr Gallagher had to send them home.

"My throat feels funny, maybe I inhaled too much smoke yesterday and argh my head. I knew those wine spritzers were a bad idea." Reign complained

"I should just skip today." She thought to herself.

"I don't think dad will allow you to." Reigns little brother Carter, stuck out his tongue and mocked her.

"Wait I thought I said that in my head, not out loud."

"I definitely heard you sis. Now come on breakfast is ready." Carter scurries out of the room.

"Argh I'm losing it, I'm never drinking again."
