Chapter 7: Cookie.
You and Kageyama showed up outside the shared hostel you were living in. Mio Angelio, the owner of the hostel, opened the front door after noticing your arrival from the front window.
She opened the door and laughed with a cheeky smile that always seemed to be on her face, never failing to lighten your mood. She waddled up to the both of you with an umbrella, outstretching her arm so it was over your head.
"I MADE TEA!" She yelled, louder than she needed to, her loud voice making Kageyama jump but you were used to it. "LETS GO!"
"Okay Mio." You replied with a chuckle, turning to Kageyama but before you could speak, Mio started yelling again.
"YOU!" She pointed her tiny but wrinkled finger at Kageyama, her thick accent echoing over him. "YOU HAVE TEA ASWELL!"
Kageyama went to decline the offer, but you spoke up instead.
"I wouldn't say no, if I were you." You chuckled nervously. "She's very persistent."
"GET OUT RAIN!" Mio began stomping away with the umbrella and into the house, the rain falling over your head again.

The hostel was cosy warm like always, the main shared part of the hostel consisting of a decently big kitchen and living room. It was like a normal house, just the rooms were rented out to teenagers, and a crazy Italian lady was running the place. The hostel was rustic and nicely decorated, a dark wood theme running through the house, random antiques from different countries scattering over shelves and a homely fireplace crackling at the side of the shared space.
As soon as you walked through the front door, your dog, Felix, bolted up to you and circled around your legs excitedly, his ginger, grey and white fur wafting around as he moved.
"Hey fluff." You grinned, bending down and ruffling your hands across his fur coat. Kageyama stayed stood up, his back straight as you looked up at him, noticing an unsure expression on his face as Felix began sniffing around his legs. "You scared of dogs?" You questioned.
"Uh no." He replied. "It's just that usually animals don't like me."
"Oh don't worry, Felix is really friendly." You stood up and brushed yourself off; Felix following after you as you made your way to the dining table that was just to the side of the open plan kitchen.
You sat down and Felix immediately lied down by your feet, curling himself into a ball.
The reason you had Felix was because your dad bought him for you a few weeks after moving into the hostel. When you first moved in you struggled to get comfortable with the others also living there, so your dad made it a gift since your mother never let you get a pet and you loved dogs. Also as a way of basically saying 'I'm sorry that our family is a chaotic mess and that I'm forcing you to live with strangers because I'm choosing my new girlfriend over my own daughter' kind of apology.
So when an Australian Shepard puppy was brought into your life, it helped make things a little brighter...
So after three years, Felix had become your best friend and your house mates became a family.
"Drink." Mio smiled, placing down two cups of milk tea in front of you and Kageyama, you always admiring the antique floral mugs she collected when travelling around the world.
Mio is definitely a fascinating woman, always having stories to tell from her youth and tales of her journeys in different countries. She was born in Italy and moved to Japan to live with her husband who later passed away, but she never seemed sad; although she still had burning passion like someone of a young age. Not a 71 year old with brittle bones and a height of 4'8ft.
"So who are you, boy?" She sat down at the other side of the table, across from Kageyama.
"Uh, Kageyama Tobio." He answered after taking a sip of his tea. "I go to school with L/N."
"Boyfriend?" She questioned, you coughing on the tea in your mouth.
"Uh.. no." He shook his head, peering at you from the corner of his eye before looking back.
"Whhhyyyyy!" She dragged out her words loudly. "When I was teenager, I had boyfriends all the time!"
"Really?" You tilted your head, smiling.
"Yep!" She stood up after hearing the oven timer go off, pulling out a tray of triple chocolate cookies and pouring them onto a plate. "And girlfriends!" She yelled from the kitchen, you and Kageyama both looking at each other before chuckling quietly with one another.
She waddled back in with the cookies and put them on the table.
"Eat." She stated, grabbing the biggest cookie and taking a bite out of it.
"You made a whole batch of cookies yesterday!" You sighed. "They're still in the fridge."
"No. Those chocolate." She munched on her cookie.
"These are chocolate." You laughed, motioning to the plate of cookies.
"No! These three chocolate!"
"What's the difference?"
"These." She pointed to the cookie. "Three!" She held up three fingers, you shaking your head and noticing Kageyama snickering to himself as he watched the bickering unfolded. "Now eat!"
You scoffed a laugh and picked one up, taking a bite.
"You too boy!" She shot her eyes over to Kageyama who happily took a cookie off the top.
"I swear she'll be the reason I'll be fat again." You whispered to Kageyama which made him give a small smile. "She's always cooking and baking."
"Well it tastes good so that's a bonus." He replied and you shrugged and nodded in agreement, chocolate cookie filling your cheeks.

When Kageyama had to leave, you walked him out to the front of the hostel to say your goodbyes.
"Hey at least it's stopped raining." You beamed and peered up at the sky that scattered with fresh layers of stars.
"Yeah. Saves me walking in it." Kageyama huffed. "I'll see you tomorrow, L/N."
"Uh, yeah! But can I just say sorry before you go." You scratched the back of your neck.
"What for?"
"For Mio basically pressuring you to come in." You said, peering behind you at the house before looking back.
"It's okay. I don't mind." He nodded. "It was nice, actually.." he replied quietly, but you heard.
"Really." You tilted your head. "Well that's a relief. Maybe you can come over again sometime. Mio loves cooking for people." You smiled.
"Sure." He adjusted the bag on his strap and slung it over his shoulder.
"Okay.. cool!" You fiddled with your fingers awkwardly. "Night Kageyama."
"Night."
