The sound of birds chirping echoed outside the window of a modest white house where a girl had recently moved with her average-wealthy family. The cheerful melody filled the quiet morning airโ€”until a wooden door slammed shut, scattering the birds in a flurry of wings.

Heavy footsteps thudded across the floor, creaking the wooden boards with each step as they made their way to a silent room. The door handle turned slowly, its motion contrasting with the heavy approach.

The door opened to reveal a small, plain room painted white and just large enough for one person. Sunlight streamed through the gaps in the thick curtains, casting warm streaks across the floor. Beneath a neatly tucked blanket, a soft snoring rose from the bed.

A woman, her kind features marked with tired lines, peeked inside. She was the girlโ€™s mother, though the look of exasperation on her face suggested she had done this morning routine many times before. She sighed, shaking her head.

"(Name)! How many times do I have to tell you? Wake up! It's 5:30 already!"

Her tone carried an edge of annoyance that hinted at a dwindling reserve of patience.

Oh no, (Name), itโ€™s your first day of school, and youโ€™re already in trouble, again.

But there was no response. The girl remained sound asleep, oblivious to the storm brewing in her motherโ€™s voice. With a deep breath and a furrowed brow, her mother leaned in and pinched the girlโ€™s ear.

A loud yelp shattered the peace. Tears sprang from the girl's eyes as she clutched her reddened ear, rubbing it furiously.

"I didnโ€™t wake up for this!" she wailed, half in shock and half in self-pity, as if calling out for help from an unseen audience.

Several minutes later, after a lecture that could rival any scolding on Earth, the girl stretched her arms wide and yawned, a single tear slipping from the corner of her eye. Sleep still tugged at her like a heavy blanket, making her groan.

"Iโ€™m still tired," she mumbled, rubbing her eyes. "Butโ€ฆ itโ€™s my first day. I guess I have to face it."

She staggered out of bed, wobbling slightly, and then, with a dramatic flourish, slapped herself across the face.

SMACK!

"Focus, (Name)! This is realityโ€”not some Wattpad fanfiction where you ace every test and live the dream life!"

Hands pressed firmly against her flushed cheeks, she pouted, determined to shake off her sleepiness and embrace her first day with a brave face.

"Goodbye, Mom! Iโ€™m leaving!" (Name) bolted down the stairs, her feet barely touching the ground.

Her mother watched in mild surprise, raising a brow. "Take your breakfast first! A full stomach will keep you motivated!"

(Name) hesitated, one foot already out the door, before reluctantly returning. She sat down at the kitchen table, decorated with a cheery floral cloth, and wolfed down a bowl of cereal, washing it down with orange juice.

Minutes later, she glanced at the clockโ€”and froze.

7:16 AM.

Her eyes widened. Panic surged.

Still chewing, she bolted upright and inhaled sharply, only to choke on a mouthful of cereal.

Her mother, now wielding a ladle like a sword, rushed to her side. "NAME! ARE YOU OKAY?!"

(Name) coughed violently, waving a hand as she fought for breath. Without a word, she recovered, grabbed her backpack, and dashed to the front door.

"Iโ€™m leaving now, Mom! Love you, bye!"

"Waitโ€”"

But the door slammed shut before her mother could finish. She stood there, bewildered, the ladle still in hand, trying to process what had just happened.

"Poor woman," she muttered to herself. "Iโ€™ve just been Rickrolled by my own daughter."

After sprinting through the streets and dodging curious neighborhood cats, (Name) finally arrived at her new school.

She stood at the entrance, her breath hitching with excitement as she took in the impressive architecture.

"Thisโ€ฆ this is it," she whispered, eyes wide with awe. "A real Japanese school. Itโ€™s just like I imagined!"

She clasped her hands together, her heart pounding with exhilaration.

Today was going to be a day to remember.
