It seemed like someoneโ€™s prayers were answered, but not in the way she expected.

"Oh, hey, little one. Didnโ€™t see you there," the tall blonde boy said, approaching her with a smirk. His hair was... well, it reminded her of French friesโ€”crispy, golden, and, oh god, the fries back home were so dry!

But she couldnโ€™t afford to be distracted by his bizarre hair. The real issue here? There were boys. Around. Her.

'This guy sure canโ€™t keep his mouth shut about me,' she thought angrily.

"Please, just let go of my hijab if you donโ€™t have anything to say to me," she demanded, glaring at him. "Yeah, king, listen to the pipsqueak," the blonde taunted, his face making her want to punch it.

Still, no response. She felt her patience thinning.

"Uh, helloโ€”"

"[Name]!"

Her head snapped toward the raspy, loud voice.

"Kaito!?" she gasped, her eyes widening as she tried to pull her hijab free. But the more she struggled, the harder it got.

'Shit! Please, let go!!' She felt herself sweating, praying for him to release it before Kaito got any closer.

"[Name], what are you doing? Taking so long..." Kaito asked, finally reaching her, catching his breath.

But the moment he laid eyes on the scene, his expression darkened. His gaze locked onto the group of boys standing around her, and a thick, tense aura surrounded him.

"Oh, Ya Allah, this is not going to end well..." she muttered under her breath, rubbing her neck nervously.

"I told you not to approach boys! Especially ones with a gang!" Kaito growled, a deep scowl on his face as he approached his younger sibling. "Thank God I was here, or who knows what could've happened to you!"

She groaned, rolling her eyes. Itโ€™s not like I wanted to be here, with them, she grumbled in her mind, mentally defending herself.

"YOU'RE TALKING BACK!" Kaito semi-yelled, his voice booming in the hall.

She covered her ears from the sudden outburst, glaring at him. It wasnโ€™t her fault!

"You're lucky you have a charming savior here to save your butt!" Kaito said proudly, patting his chest. He was so smug, it made her want to facepalm.

Rolling her eyes again, she walked off, ignoring him as he continued babbling.

The day passed quickly, and night fell before she even had a chance to glance at the clock. In the living room, she and Kaito sat together on the comfy sofa, watching the news.

The TV displayed a middle-aged woman dressed in a coat and accessorized to the nines, with long straight hair. Behind her, a typical city skyline loomed.

"It has been reported that the number of kidnappings has decreased slightly in recent weeks. The police have found some clues that may lead to identifying the suspects behind these cases," the news anchor announced, her voice calm and professional.

Though she didnโ€™t fully understand everything, thanks to the subtitles, it was enough to get the gist. Kaito, on the other hand, was hanging on every word, his attention rapt on the screen.

But her? She was barely keeping her eyes open.

Groaning, she stretched. "Mom! I think Iโ€™m going to bed early tonight," she called from the couch, her voice filled with exhaustion.

Her mother appeared from the kitchen. "Eh? Why so early?"

"Nothing, Iโ€™m just tired," she shrugged, hoping her mom would let it go.

"Ah, if thatโ€™s the case, goodnight, sweetheart," her mom said with a smile, leaning down to kiss her forehead and ruffle her hair. Her heart skipped a beat, her cheeks flushing at the familiar 'goodnight' routine.

Once she said goodnight to everyone else, she headed to her room, grateful for some peace and quiet. As she settled into bed, she noticed a notification pop up on her phone.

Her favorite Weebton had updated with a new chapter.

"Aww man, I really wanna sleep, but one chapter wonโ€™t hurt, right?" she grinned, already unlocking her phone and adjusting her position to get more comfortable.

She thought one chapter wouldnโ€™t hurt... but it wasnโ€™t long before she was lost in the story, forgetting all about her exhaustion.
