The morning had started off poorly, as expected, but the real challenge was surviving through the subjects that felt like a drag. But then—lunch! The one time of the day everyone looked forward to.

Sitting alone at lunch, (Name) didn’t even bother to invite Ritsu. Her mind was too busy replaying the embarrassing scene from the morning.

Her face turned a deep shade of red again just thinking about it. "I hate him so much... Ugh..." she muttered under her breath.

Even though Ritsu had offered to eat with her, (Name) knew all too well the stares from her other classmates. "Better not accept, or you’ll be the talk of the day," they seemed to say. But she wasn't about to let that stop her. After all, don’t judge a book by its cover!

"Who does he think he is? Talking about me like he knows me! Stupid boy!" she muttered angrily, but then she realized how loud she’d been. Whipping her head around, she glanced around to see if anyone had heard.

Thank God, no one seemed to be paying attention.

She quickly shut her mouth, embarrassed, and tried to focus on eating her food—hoping the awkwardness would pass.

Then, out of nowhere, a ball came flying at her.

Oh, no. This was definitely going to be embarrassing…

The nurse led her to a cozy white bed. "You can rest here for now," she smiled, gently patting the mattress. (Name) nodded, sitting down quietly with an ice pack pressed to her head.

The nurse busied herself with gathering supplies, but while rummaging through the cabinet, she asked, "How did you get these injuries? They're pretty deep, and there’s a lot of bruising."

As soon as the question was asked, memories from the morning flashed before her eyes. Her face flushed with embarrassment again. A big smile crept onto her lips as she began to explain.

"So, here’s what happened…"

"I was eating lunch, minding my own business, when—out of nowhere—a ball came flying toward me. I tried to dodge it, but the ball hit the tree behind me and the branch fell straight down. It hit me pretty badly." She rubbed her neck, shifting uncomfortably under the nurse’s gaze.

"Oh my!" The nurse gasped, sounding sympathetic. "That’s such an unexpected turn of events for you."

"And here’s the worst part—I look like a mess now," (Name) muttered, feeling the sting of the bruises.

"Don’t worry," the nurse reassured her warmly. "We’ll get you patched up in no time!"

The bell rang signaling the end of the break. With the nurse’s help, (Name) made it back to class just in time. She muttered a quick thanks to the nurse before heading down the hallway.

"If one more embarrassing thing happens to me today, I swear I’m going to crawl back into my mom’s stomach," she thought, half-laughing to herself as she walked.

"(Name)! Over here!" That familiar voice—sweet as sugar—belonged to none other than Ritsu Tanaka.

Ritsu was running toward her, her eyes wide with concern.

"What happened to your face?" Ritsu asked, sounding alarmed. "Why do you have bruises?"

"Oh, it’s nothing, really. I just tripped over something, hahaha," (Name) laughed awkwardly, trying to downplay it. But Ritsu wasn’t buying it.

"Ritsu! I told you, no running in the hallways!" a voice scolded them from behind.

"Hehe, sorry, Kirin!" Ritsu waved playfully at the teacher who gave them a stern look. But Ritsu just kept walking alongside (Name), chatting away about something else.

The class passed quickly. Not much to learn today, which was a relief, considering how distracted she was. As (Name) made her way to her locker to change her shoes, she caught sight of someone familiar: the tall boy with dark blue hair.

She glanced at him, and to her surprise, he was already looking at her. They locked eyes for a moment—a brief but intense connection.

She quickly looked away, her heart racing. Wait, why was he looking at me?

In a panic, she hurriedly changed her shoes, trying to make her escape before she did something embarrassing again.

But as she was about to leave, she felt something tug at her hijab. The boy had grabbed the tail of her scarf, pulling it gently.

She froze. "Huh?" she whispered.

They exchanged silent looks for a moment, neither saying a word.

"C-can you let go of my hijab?" she stammered nervously, her thoughts running wild. What if he pulls it off? Or worse, what if he pours milk on me? Wait—he’s holding a carton of milk!

The boy remained silent, looking a bit shy, but he didn’t let go of the fabric.

"Uhm, hello?" she tried again, her voice a little more shaky.

Suddenly, a tall pale boy with sharp features appeared beside the dark blue-haired boy, along with someone who looked like he’d just eaten a bunch of green onions.

"Ara, what’s this king doing to the poor girl?" the pale boy asked, his voice dripping with mock sweetness. (Name) didn’t recognize him, but there was something about his tone that made her want to punch him.

"Ya Allah, please get these strangers away from me," she silently prayed.

"Also, girl," the pale boy continued, inspecting her appearance, looking clearly dissatisfied "What exactly are you wearing?"

His words hit her like a slap. His tone was so condescending, it made her blood boil. She glared at him, but he seemed to brush it off, amused by her reaction.

"Ya Allah, help me!" she thought, feeling a headache coming on.
